She is bundled up to the nines - beanie, coat, scarf, gloves that she is futilely trying to blow some hot air into.

It's not that she minds the cold, really, it's just being out in it.

"Don't look at me like that - it doesn't get cold like this where I grew up."

Is she agreeing? Disagreeing? To her ears, her wording is all very clear.

Lulu knows they're called hamsters here, but she delights in nothing more than Australianising things that don't need to be. But she saw an article online, and now she needs to know where Temperance lands on this critical issue.

"I think you're holding my drink." Lulu nods at the to-go cup in their hands, which she suspects holds her double-strength caramel latte. "Not your fault though, the baristas are slammed."

She is incredulous. She is about to throw up. She has three brothers and has still never smelled anything this bad.

"Jesus, what crawled up your ass and died?"

"Move, fuckya." She's slouched in the passenger seat, muttering in annoyance at the pedestrian who is, in her opinion, taking too long to cross the street. "We've got places to be."

Lulu's scrambled up to stand on a chair - but is ready to leap off and keep running at a moment’s notice.

The culprit?

A spider on the wall. Clear across the room.

He looks, to be frank, like a gronk. He also looks like he could probably rip her head off with ease, so maybe best to stay quiet. She instead, holds the little packet of chocolate biscuits shaped like bears out to him.

"Do you ever wonder about the zombie apocalypse?"

Lulu's swinging her feet, uncaring that this is a strange thing to bring up out of nowhere. "If the zombies go for like, mass meat, shouldn't there be more horse zombies? What about people who got turned into zombies at the zoo. Shouldn't they go for the animals?"

Lulu barely looks up when she hears him - probably just waking up, given the hour of the afternoon. She's busy keeping a brave face, aching leg stretched up and out on the couch (why is she in his apartment? They've both long since stopped asking how the other gets in).

Finally, she looks up at him, moving to make him some space and totally completely doing a good job at hiding the wince.

"Morning. Sleep well?"

She's hauling a huge bag over her shoulder, eyeing the stranger watching her. It's her own clothes - she's on the way to the laundromat. Should she have gone last week? Mind your business.
