I did not make the art or the video, but I just want to share the absolute insanity of what happens when you mod... and a ton of other things.

The X-Com reboot had a pretty clever plot that provided a satisfying answer to the obvious question that haunts the X-Com franchise: why don't the aliens send down a dozen sectopods day 1 and just instantly win the war instead of slowly ramping up the difficulty and giving X-Com a chance to reverse engineer the alien technologies and incorporate them into their own arsenal?
The aliens in the X-Com reboot are searching the galaxy for better soldiers. The aliens want X-Com to steadily improve their soldiers to reach the peak of human performance, so that the aliens can incorporate elite X-Com soldiers to their own ranks. If the aliens just send down a dozen sectopods, then they will win the war, but humanity won't have the chance to make those elite X-Com soldiers that the aliens want. X-Com 2 cleverly points out that humanity usually loses and the aliens incorporate mutated human soldiers into their army.
Unfortunately, X-Com 2 changes the aliens' objective to rendering humanity into genetic ectocooler. Which raises the question: why didn't the aliens send down a dozen sectopods to win the war day 1? Aliens, hit me up, I will sell out humanity and help you win this war with what I call: Strategy Dozen Sectopods.

Okay, might be a little fanfiction-brained of me but I think that in Xcom it would be so thematically fitting for Bradford to marry a Hybrid.
A way of showing him coming to terms with life after ADVENT. Setting aside his hatred of aliens to find love in the new world.

Did You Know?™
It's physically impossible to find any relevant search results for (the website formerly known as) Twitter on YouTube since its rebranding.
Tumblr media
Searching for its current domain results, understandably, in gameplay videos and things related to the UFO: Enemy Unknown series – otherwise known as "X-COM".
Thanks, Elon!™

A Tweet by Any Other Name... Might Stink Even Worse
Every times I think that, just maybe Elon Must has hit rock bottom on the dumpster fire that has become Twitter, every time I think, “this must be it, he’ll realize that he can’t just follow his impulse on everything,” he says “Hold my skull bong!” and proceeds to prove he isn’t done being the internet town fool.  And this past weekend was no different. To cut to the chase, Elon has been tweeting…

Got bitten by the miniature-gaming bug, so I'm building myself a campaign of Pulp Alley on Tabletop Simulator.
Being in a sci-fi mood, I started by looking through the mods in search of alien miniatures, specially non-Warhammer ones for variety's sake, and I found some good Xcom stuff for my games (mods listed bellow). I took the character models from those mods and made miniatures out of them (adjusting size and adding bases).
This is my first crew, a squadron of alien invaders led by an Ethereal (who is more hands-on-deck in my games than canon Ethereals, leading forces from the front instead of waiting on his base until the final mision). Most of the aliens were easy to make, except for the Sectoids since there weren't mind control abilities available for them, so I improvised by giving them horror rules to represent their psychic powers. The Faceless starts as a harmless little girl who no-one would should (besides Agent J), before transforming into the goo monster we all know and hate.
Models' Source:
Xcom Alien/Advent Models by Garr
Forces of Advent by Wahacz Rozruchowy*
*(the models from this mod are quite large and don't work well with the scale up/down button, so I suggest changing their size with the proper scale tool if you plan to use them for your games).

X-COM turns 30 years old
Tumblr media
It was released in 1994. Look at all those pixels. The current generation might find it cute, but the older generations are just happy there's no Chrysalis in this image.
Because then the cold sweats would start pouring.

Alien Invasion Video Games
Tumblr media
A short list of classic video games with an Alien Invasion theme:
"Space Invaders" - This classic arcade game from 1978 is one of the earliest examples of an Alien Invasion-themed game. Players control a spaceship as they battle against a horde of descending alien ships.
"Galaga" - Another classic arcade game from the early days of gaming, Galaga has players controlling a ship as they fend off waves of alien attackers.
"X-COM: UFO Defense" - In this turn-based strategy game, players control a team of soldiers fighting against an alien invasion of Earth.
"Half-Life" - This first-person shooter game has players taking on the role of Gordon Freeman as he battles against an alien invasion of Earth.
"Halo" - While not strictly an Alien Invasion game, the Halo series has players fighting against the alien race known as the Covenant, who are trying to wipe out humanity.
"Mass Effect" - In this sci-fi RPG, players take on the role of Commander Shepard as they fight against the Reapers, a race of sentient machines that are trying to wipe out all advanced organic life in the galaxy.
"Destroy All Humans!" - In this action-adventure game, players control an alien named Crypto as he invades Earth in the 1950s and wreaks havoc on human civilization.

my psionics tables for XCOM-in-7TV carry an extremely slight chance of, on failing to use a psionic power, exploding
entirely because it’s the kind of thing that’d happen in the 90s XCOM wargame that doesn’t exist
