They'll get a couple diesel engines to begin, followed by a gasoline engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. We'll expect to see the latter two here. All of the engines will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Audi's 48-volt mild-hybrid electrical system will be in play for these powertrains, too. Power figures aren't available for any of the options, but we'll be looking out for U.S. specific engine details anyway. Audi says the new Q7 will be launching in Europe in mid-September this year. We'll expect the big SUV to arrive in U.S. dealers not long after that, possibly in time for the holiday season. We don't expect to see any massive price changes to arrive alongside this update, either. The Q7 with the 2.0-liter turbo starts at $54,545, including the $995 destination charge. While the company attempted to sell the brand to China’s Sichuan Tengzhong, the deal collapsed and Hummer quietly folded with the last models rolling off the assembly line in 2010. As fate would have it, crossovers and SUVs have exploded in popularity and it’s easy to imagine a modern-day Hummer going head-to-head with Jeep. It appears some people at GM haven’t forgotten the brand either as Bloomberg is reporting the company is considering relaunching Hummer as a purveyor of electric trucks and SUVs. The idea sounds crazy for a number of reasons including the aforementioned gas guzzler image. Besides that, a Hummer relaunch would be expensive as it would require a massive marketing effort, the establishment of a new dealer network and the launch of several new vehicles. A Hummer relaunch sounds pretty far-fetched, but it’s no secret that GM is working on an assortment of electric trucks and crossovers. This time they're called the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder (not Boxster) respectively, and the mid-engine Porsches are packing even more punch than before. We absolutely adored the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder when we drove them a few short years ago, and this duo promises to be better yet. We'll talk about them as a pair, because the upgrades are pretty much identical across the board. Sitting amidship is a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat six engine. Porsche says it's a new engine, and it develops 414 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque on its way up to an 8,000 rpm redline. The new 4.0-liter is based-on the same family of turbocharged engines in the new 911, but Porsche has re-engineered it for a non-boosted application. Don't mistake it for a de-tuned version of the 911 GT3 engine that makes 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque, though — that one revs out to a glorious 9,000 rpm. The engine in these cars uses Porsche's adaptive cylinder control technology, so in low-load situations, it's able to temporarily interrupt the injection process in one of the two cylinder banks. For now, it looks like a sizable upgrade over the 911 S-derived 3.8-liter flat-six that came in the previous generation of these cars. Porsche enthusiasts will be happy to know that both cars come equipped with a six-speed manual transmission only. There's an auto blip function that can be toggled on and off, so no worries if you'd like to heel and toe on your own. Both the coupe and convertible feature identical 0-60 mph sprints of 4.2 seconds. Interestingly, that's exactly the same as the previous GT4. The coupe will top out at 188 mph, while the Spyder gets to 187 mph. Big surprise (read: sarcasm): The 911 GT3 is still faster. That’s pretty restrictive, but the program also allowed these vehicles to be offered in higher trims costing up to $55,000 CAD without losing the incentive. While the rules were designed to prevent luxury car buyers from taking advantage of the incentive, Electrek discovered Tesla found a way to effectively circumvent them. As they noticed, the company has quietly introduced an entry-level Model 3 that starts at $44,999 CAD and has a “software-locked” range of just 93 miles (150 km). The range is pathetic by today’s standards, but that’s not the point and Tesla doesn’t want anyone to actually buy the car. Since it starts at $44,999 CAD, it makes the more expensive Model 3 Standard Range Plus eligible for the $5,000 CAD incentive even though it starts at $53,700 CAD. It delivers a more traditional Tesla experience as it has an estimated range of 240 miles (386 km). In an apparent effort to ensure customers don’t ‘accidentally’ order the wrong car, the 93 mile (150 km) variant is only available for purchase at dealerships. The Model 3 Standard Range Plus, on the other hand, can be ordered online and is shown on the company’s Canadian configurator. The move will probably anger politicians who crafted the rules, but it’s totally legit. It also helps consumers as they can now get a $5,000 CAD incentive to purchase a Model 3.
