Episode 7 Wrap Up!

It’s hard to explain how good I find this show. 

Maybe one day this will change, but it’s amazing how not frustrating I find this show. 

I’m not screaming “talk to each other!” at the TV (and haven’t been for a looong time). I’m not rolling my eyes going, “oh, I guess we’re doing this obligatory drama.” Minor continuity errors and lore questions aside, I very rarely find myself going “but that doesn’t make any SENSE!” or “Just use your previously established powers!”

The characters do things that make sense, they work to the greatest of their abilities, they care about each other. 

It shouldn’t be so surprising, but it is. 

I’m so used to being frustrated by or disappointed in TV. Even shows I like. 

It’s not that Wynonna Earp never does that. But it avoids so much obvious garbage. It avoids the pitfalls more often than it falls into them. And that’s so refreshing, honestly. 

It doesn’t take much.

OMG this is the best take on the “handcuffed to each other” trope that I’ve seen in years.

Is it gonna turn out revenants are inherently infertile and this was never really an issue.

It does look like they’re falling into a bit of a continuity error with the time halt here though.

God I love that Wynonna and Nicole have this relationship. I love their dynamic. I love Nicole. 

Am I ever going to be able to have coherent thoughts about this show outside of “So good???”

Would telling the other potential Dad even work or make sense? As far as the rest of the town and time itself is concerned, not enough time should have passed for him to be a candidate. Even if the DNA were to prove otherwise.

I love Wynonna and I love this show. 

I just spend several paragraphs wondering about the life of sex workers in small towns and we learn Wynonna was one, both destigmatizing the job and humanizing the workers. 

It’s a good show.

I know small towns have strip clubs, but I always wonder how that works. It always seems so much more likely to me in a town that size that the dancers would be recognized? That it would become a problem in their daily life? 

If you want to pursue that career in a rural area, do you just make sure to always work one town over? Or do you often find yourself at a grocery store and the manager takes a long look at you and you know he knows, and you both know this isn’t the kind of the place where that’s considered respectable. 

I mean, I live in the porn capital of America. One, Los Angeles is huge, and two, in the San Fernando Valley there’s very little in the way of stigma left. My post office is next door to a strip club, and people walk from one to the other. Literally the largest export of my immediate area is porn. 

But in small towns that always seemed like it’d be more...dangerous. I guess. 

Am I mistaken?

This miscommunication is killing me. It’s totally understandable but I’m dying. Waverly is gonna end up telling him. It’s not her fault. It’s not his fault. It’s not even really Wynonna’s fault (or, rather, her actions are completely understandable). 

But I’m dying. I’m dying watching this.
