i need a minute, to figure out what is, what isn’t

Jungkook’s pen scratches across the paper, unspoken words flowing out of the tip.

He feels almost… guilty for writing this but it had gotten to a point where he couldn’t hold it in anymore. It was either writing his thoughts down or throwing the words in your face. 

these choices and voices, they’re all in my head

He can feel the words itching in his throat, scrambling to be spoken and coughed out. There’s an angel on his right shoulder and a devil on his left, both telling him to do things he doesn’t want to do.

With every word, it’s harder for him not to give in to his thoughts. 

sometimes, you make me feel crazy

It’s true, true, true. You make him want to scream and shout in joy and pain and he can feel it ripping him apart on the inside.

But you make him feel things, and sometimes Jungkook thinks it’s enough. 

sometimes, i swear i think you hate me

More often than not, he comes home to the sight of you with annoyance in your eyes and irritation in your voice. 

Every time, he kisses you with an “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” on his lips but it’s gotten easier for him to lie, lie, lie.

i need a walk, i need to get out of here

That’s usually why he’s gone. It’s an endless cycle, him walking to escape his thoughts only to return to his thoughts, full blast.

Truth be told, his thoughts are louder when he goes for his walks. He can never stop thinking about you and it’s getting exhausting. 

who are you? you’re not the girl i fell in love with

He still remembers the day he first met you. He was out eating pizza with his friends and you were their waitress. He remembers your flushed cheeks and your sweaty palms and your timid smile, your shaking hands serving him food.

Every day for the week after that, he would show up at your workplace just to talk to you. He didn’t even try to be slick, like occasionally ordering pizza or a drink. He was there for you, and only you.

He misses those days. It’s only gotten more complicated from there.

something has changed, you’re not the same, i hate it

A year into your relationship, things started changing. You stopped staying up to wait for him and he didn’t stop caring enough not to notice. But he bit his tongue, and let you drift away from him.

Two years into your relationship, he wonders if there was any communication between you two in the beginning at all. 

i’m sick of waiting for love

“I love you, Y/N.”

You had smiled at him when he said that, running your fingers through his hair. You were sitting on the couch while he was sitting between your legs on the floor.

“I understand if you aren’t ready to say it back, I just wanted you to know." 

You nodded, giving him another brief smile.

"Okay." 

Was this where he went wrong? 

i know that you’re not the one

Two years ago, Jungkook would have believed that the two of you were soulmates. But soulmates have an unbreakable bond, a connection.

Jungkook doesn’t even know if he really sees you anymore. It’s like you’re a shell. but this time, you’re not only hollow on the inside, but the outside too.

He still loves you, he really does. But he knows that you can love someone better than you could love him. He’s so, so exhausted.

But did you really say anything? He can hear you, but as much as he tries to listen, he can’t. He really, really wants to understand you.

All he hears is ringing, and pounding and screaming and it never seems to go away.

It makes him so, so dizzy. 

when the morning comes you’re still in my bed

the two of you never really established having two different sides of the bed, but he can feel the distance between the two of you as you’re pressed against his chest. 

so while you try to pretend it’s still working and fall asleep in each other’s arms, you always wake up on opposite sides of the bed, facing away from each other.

but it’s so, so cold

The body warmth between you does nothing to warm the tension, but it’s fine with Jungkook. 

When he’s with you, he’s just numb. 

Numb to the very bone. 

i’m sick of waiting for love 

Sometimes he feels so, so desperate to work the relationship out, but you don’t seem to want to put in the effort. Honestly, neither does he. 

He wants you back, but he wants you to go. 

"I washed the dishes, so I get to pick the movie, dummy.” You laugh, flicking Jungkook’s forehead.

“But you got to the dishes before I did! You practically ran to the sink the moment you finished your water!” He pouted, rubbing his forehead. 

Kissing the pout off his lips, you snatched the remote control off the coffee table to pick a movie for your movie night. 

Before you could type anything into the TV, Jungkook’s hands had travelled under your ribcage and within seconds you were shrieking with laughter on the couch.

“Kook! St- STOP!” you gasped, laughing so hard you started to snort. 

“Only if I get to pick the movie.” He raised an eyebrow at you, eyes shining with glee. 

Pinching his nose, you sat up, giving in to him. “Fine.”

He grinned at you and kissed your cheek before pulling you into him.

i know that you’re not the one

Last night he had been reading a book with you in the living room when he suddenly looked up and said, 

“Y/N?" 

"Yes, Jungkook?" 

"I love you, Y/N.” he studied your face and your body language as he said the words. 

You opened your mouth to say something, but decided against it before looking down at your book and saying, “I- I love you too, Jungkook.”

He should be ecstatic – you finally told him that you loved him, after two lengthy years. 

But he can see it in your eyes and in the way you’re lacing your fingers together. You don’t really love him.

He should be upset – but he expected it. It was bound to happen. Jungkook doesn’t say anything, and you continue to read in silence.

The exhaustion had eventually caught up to Jungkook, and now all he wanted to do was go, go, go.

Y/N, 

this is for you. i want you to know that i really did – do love you, but i know you’ll never love me back in the way i want you to. that’s okay. if we’re meant to be, we’ll see each other again.

but he knows you’re not the one, and he’s sick and tired of waiting for love.
