"I'd tell you two to get a room, but honestly, I really want to sleep and the guest room is right next to yours'," Nicky said as he emerged from the hall. King was resting in Nicky's arms, and he was running his hand along their beloved traitor's side, over and over. It reminded Andrew of a cartoon villain, and he tried to imagine Nicky with a comically skinny top hat and spindly, curled mustache. Try as he might, he couldn't picture it, but the thought was what counted to him.

"I don't care," Andrew said, finally gaining control over his voice and forcing it to be smooth once more.

Neil leveled him with a glare. "Then we're doing it."

Andrew shut his eyes and sighed and couldn't help but feel grateful that at least he hadn't been the one to say it.

"Unless you don't want to, of course," Neil said, and earned a glare that, if Neil had been anyone else, would have been accompanied by literal knives. And yet, Neil fucking Josten had the audacity to laugh. Andrew hated that it only made him want to kiss Neil into oblivion.

Kevin snapped in the space between them, and although it wasn't as sharp a sound as normal due to using his right hand, it still made Jean jump. "Explain, Jean. You're not going back to the Nest."

Jean snickered, then let out a weak laugh. Once he thought he was done laughing he saw Kevin's confused expression, and it took all the willpower left in him not to start laughing all over again. "I'm not going back to the Nest, Kevin," he said while wiping tears from his eyes. "I was actually thinking of staying here, in Palmetto."

Relief flashed across Kevin's eyes, followed quickly by an emotion Jean couldn't quite pinpoint. "No. Absolutely not, you're far too good for this team. They'll drive you insane."

The rest of their trip to the aquarium was more or less uneventful. His sisters were more excited to see him than they were to see the fish swimming in tanks all around them, at least until they finally reached the shark exhibit. Once they were there, his sister bolted to the glass and got as close as she possibly could.
