sighs i just finished errant kindom and man...it really feels like one of those "we had this super cool, super in depth idea that we hadn't actually finish preparing when we got all our funding and made promises, and then we lost interest halfway through but are obligated to finish it" situations. i wanted to believe they could fix things give then TWO YEAR break they had to come up with something but its just *so* obvious they stopped caring about EK once they got the greenlight for Call Me Under. idk how much most people remember from early dev of EK (since they've deleted two tumblrs, privated their original twitter account + deleted comments on the itchio pages to get away from the drama they've caused through this whole process. very normal things for a developer to do in response to very justified critique lol) but the change in attitude/tone/amount of updates about it after CMU became a thing was immediate and noticeable even back then. i think most people (me included) figured they were just really excited about their next game esp since wtnc had bought them so much good will, but in hindsight the warning signs were there even before the hiatus.

i know they site covid as the main reason for delays and everything for EK but at the same time, they've been perfectly on pace for CMU despite its development starting later (but before the pandemic) and not having nearly as many financially backed obligations as EK did at the time? they managed to release two waves of new content for WTNC including a mini story they charged for during the pandemic and got most of an extended demo done for CMU, but the ending of EK is the best they could manage in two years *AFTER* getting another 3 months to work on it from the original re-release? sorry not buying it any more, i'm sure the pandemic made things difficult and i emphasize but they very obviously were getting work done, just not on the project they should to have been prioritizing over their shiny new toy.

It definitely feels like they got tired halfway and just put whatever together to call it finished...

Honestly, I got into EK kind of very late (just about when they went on hiatus if I recall right?), so I missed a lot of the drama about the when and hows of the updates. I'm not necessarily annoyed that they ran into problems and had to release much later than originally said (that's the risk of buying unfinished games), but I would have appreciated it if they were more forward about it from the start. Instead they made excuses and pushed the date further and further away with half-baked excuses, and now that annoyed me. I honestly would have preferred if they took an indefinite hiatus and came back together to the game finale with a fresh mind instead (a controversial opinion perhaps, but I'd rather have had a good finale later than... Whatever we got now).

I'll admit I haven't yet looked into their other games (I get into stuff randomly and at random times), and after everything that went on I'm certainly no more confident to do it now.

I can only hope that the devs do better in the future, being more honest with the fans and taking their time to deliver a final result according to what they've been building up.

I've gotta surprise for you!!! So I had no idea that you and I have kinda went through some similar negative life experiences (i won't bring them up because they're super personal), but it makes me feel good to know that we're both fighters and we both continue to draw and stuff 😭😭😭

So I made some OC's for your babies Vesper and Iah!!

So Noelani is for Iah

She's a newly turned werewolf who has no idea how to "werewolf". She wasn't turned willingly either. She was walking home from her perfume/cologne shop where she got attacked by a Alpha wolf. He actually left her for dead, leaving a nasty slash on her shoulders and chest. She's really self conscious about it too. She turns every full moon, but she also turns whenever she can't control her anger or fear. She met Iah at a food festival... well, she "felt" Iah's presence there and she knew she had to meet him. She would've been attracted to him regardless of his Lycan blood, because she thinks he's handsome and a beautiful being inside and out. When she turns, she's very territorial and protective towards him. Iah and her pets are usually the only ones that can calm her down. She's terrified of hurting him when she's a werewolf, but she'd literally never hurt him... if anything she'll lick him to death lmaoooo. She was a very touchy, passionate type of lover, but now she's hesitant to make too many bold moves without asking his permission first, again, because she's afraid of her own strength. But she comes around... eventually 😉

Now Quinnie is for Vesper.

She's a shapeshifting demon, and she's excellent at making mirages and trickery. You can probably find her lounging in a tree when she's not investigating crimes (she's a bounty hunter). She has a big ass snake tattoo on her left arm and a huggggge back tattoo (that I haven't finished yet lol). She loves to eat and cause some mischief. Ya girl gets "in heat" once a month... lawd help Vesper when she does... she always treats him to whatever he wants afterwards though lol. She met Vesper on one of her jobs, and it was love at first sight for her, but she'll never admit it. She's a lot like Cheshire cat, but more seductive. She ALWAYS has heavy-lidded eyes, they barely get any wider even if she's surprised or angry. Her sensitive spots are her ears and her tail, especially the tip. Kiss or nibble on any of those areas and she will be putty in your hands. Likes walking around barefoot most of the time. Loves styling and taking care of Vesper's luscious locks, sometimes wants them to match lol. She has sharp teeth too, but she learned to disguise them with her abilities... you can catch them sticking out if Vesper throws her off her guard or if she's too stressed. Likes licking/kissing Vesper's freckles/beauty marks because why not? She doesn't have any herself, which is partly why she gets tattoos. She's playful, caring, and really enjoys cuddling with him.

I finally played my first route of the otome game, ‘When The Night Comes’, and I had to make my fan hunter! Her name is Elena (meaning bright one, light) Silverlight. She can talk to animals, and create orbs of light to light her path. At the end of the game, she’s able to create a bright light to blind her opponent(s) or snuff out light to make it dark. (Her eyes also glow yellow when she uses her light magic.) The last two pictures are her weapons, two of the dagger that she dual wields, and a dual blade staff.

This was super fun to do and I hope you enjoy it!

Also, do you play ‘When The Night Comes’? If so, who’s your favorite character/part of the story? Do you have your fan hunter drawn/thought out?

The thing with Lunaris Games is that they talk and act like they're a studio with way more clout than they actually have, while also refusing to conduct themselves like a professional studio in favor of just acting like this is a passion project of theirs that they can do on whatever time they want. That's why I didn't accept the pandemic excuse they've been trying to sell - they had a team working across multiple games, including the WTNC Re-Vamp (aka their excuse to re-release a free game and charge $15 more for *checks notes* partial voice acting), a new WTNC short, and the CMU Demo for that Kickstarter (which went live before EK was even half complete). Yet by their own admission they refused to allocate more than 2 PEOPLE to Errant Kingdom, the game that was just financially backed to the tune of 40 thousand Pounds and was already on an extended hiatus - despite them claiming it was mostly complete at the time it began...almost 3 years ago. They also got SUPER defensive when fans tried to hold them accountable, including going on a tirade against an EK Superbacker who asked a perfectly reasonable question about the delays. The defensiveness and their tendency to create their own PR shitshows is how they ended up deleting at least 2 official tumblrs (there might have been a third I can't remember if it was deleted or rebranded) the original studio Twitter account, comments on *all* of the itch.io pages, and are still known to hide replies on their current twitter. I'm sure the only reason they haven't shut down Steam is because Steam policy doesn't allow it.

And that, kiddos, is why we are honest with our fans about our projects, updates, and change of plans!
