MASTERLIST | PART 2
Tumblr media
You had opened the door and behind it stood Corey with that cute smile of his. “Oh god, what now?” You groaned.
“W-What? What do you mean?” Corey was flabbergasted.
“You’re doing you’re ‘I can’t hang out tonight’ smile.” You rolled your eyes as he brushed past you inside your home. “You’re gonna try and butter me up to let me down easy like always.” You closed the door by leaning back into it. You crossed your arms over your chest as he removed his backpack. He set it on top of the hallway table, unzipping it to pull something out.
“What?” He scoffed. “I don’t butter you up!”
“Then what’s in the bag?” You smirked. Corey grimaced, looking away nervously. He could never look you in the eye. That was his tell.
He sighed and pulled out a bag of chocolates. A combination of Reese’s pieces and kit kats. To top it off, your favorite drink from the gas station. He guiltly stepped closer to you, showing you his offerings, with those stupid doe eyes of his. “So we can’t do our traditional movie night tonight...”
“Corey!” You whined.
“Mrs. Allen called me and asked if I could babysit her son, Jeremy tonight!” He looked down at his shoes.
“And you told her no right, cause I’m your best friend, and you love me?” You flail your arms around.
“I brought you your special snacks, what do you think?” He glanced down at your full hands.
“You get me this stuff any other day!” You exclaimed. “Corey, no, we were supposed to get fat and eat all the candy I bought.” You looked past him to the set up in your living room. “It’s Halloween bitch!” You smacked him with the bag of chocolates.
“Ow! Okay, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you, I promise.” He smiled at you. “It’s just that I could really use the money. You know I’m trying to save up for coll-”
“College. Yeah, yeah I know, whatever, fine.” You sighed, giving into him. “Go take care of the little brat then.” You stared off to the side. You didn’t want to give Corey the satisfaction that you were letting him off the hook.
“Thank you...” He sang. Tilting his head to try and meet your eyes. Your stubborn exterior was hard to get past. “Thank you, Y/n.” He cooed as he pressed a sweet little peck on your cheek. Your friendship was known for its acts of physical touch. Your own way of telling each other how much you loved one another. Your hard exterior fell when Corey caught on to you trying to fight off a smile. “There’s that smile!”
“Ugh, you’re so annoying.” You laughed, pushing him away. “You owe me five movies.”
“Make it six.” He went over to close his bag, getting ready to leave. You bit your lip, nodding. “I wanted to hang out too.”
“Then don’t go.” You pleaded.
He only shook his head and walked over to you in front of the door. “I already said I would, but I didn’t want to go without making sure you wouldn’t get mad at me.”
“I am mad!” You said with a smile. “One little brat can do fine on his own without Corey Cunningham, on Halloween of all days. You’re mine!” You were only joking around, but Corey couldn’t help but feel his heart skip. He wanted nothing more than to be called yours. Truly yours.
“Yours?” He smirked.
“Your brat’s waiting!” You opened the door and gestured to him to leave. Corey only laughed at your antics. Your general nature was to be blunt to avoid having to explain what you and him really were. He saw right through you. His question got to you. “Don’t want to ruin your good boy image by being late now.”
“So tomorrow then?” He walked past the threshold onto the front porch. “Seven? Eight-thirty?” He laughed, completely disregarding your snarky comments. “Six movies, and getting fat was it?”
“I hope he’s worth the pain you’ve caused me...”
“Okay, seven movies then.” Corey emitted a laugh.
“It’s too late...” You looked away dramatically. “The damage is done!” You slammed the door in his face.
“Three, two...” Corey quietly counted down.
The front door creaked open slightly. Corey titled his head to catch sight of your face peeking out from behind it. He only smiled and waited for you to respond.
“Make it eight o’clock.” You pouted with a grumpy face.
“On the dot, peaches.” He nodded.
You finally looked up at him. You offered him a smile. “Say hi to your brat for me.”
“His name’s Jeremy.” He started walking down the steps, calling out over his shoulder.
“Whatever!”
“I love you, stupid!” He began.
“I love you too, bitch!” You yelled back.

NO MORE BRATS (2) — COREY CUNNINGHAM
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: After that Halloween night, you have to wait a whole year to touch and hold Corey again.
WARNING(S): Angst, fluff, mentions of death.
WORD COUNT: 1,142
PAIRING: Corey Cunningham x fem!Reader
A/N: Hope you enjoy it! ♡ Feedback is always welcomed!
MASTERLIST | PART 1
Tumblr media
You had imagined how your Halloween night could have gone, but you never would have guessed receiving a call from Corey’s mother crying how he had been arrested for manslaughter. You could have laughed right then and there when you heard her speak into the phone, but after further explaining that Mrs. Allen’s son Jeremy was dead. The brat you had mocked and gotten angry with for taking Corey away from your traditional night of horror films. Well, it felt like a massive slap across the face, and now the repercussions were being faced by Corey.
You weren’t prepared for the aftermath that struck. After Michael Myers disappeared, everyone shifted their fear and hatred towards your best friend. Someone who you knew to be good and pure hearted. Your Corey. Your introverted and socially awkward best friend was now labeled and considered Haddonfield’s new boogeyman, their new freak. It wasn’t fair.
You had reached for the telephone on the hook the same time as he did. You offered a smile as you greeted the dork you loved so much.
“Hey, bitch.” Your tone was soft and not at all harsh. He didn’t need you teasing him while doing a year. He needed you, needed a familiar face, and you were just that.
“H-Hey, stupid.” He teared up. A hearty laugh falling past his lips. You pressed the phone closer to your ear wanting to hear more of his voice. You let your eyes roam, taking in the new bruise painting the left side of his cheek and a cut on his chapped lips. He looked worse than when he did during your last visit. You didn’t want to bring attention to it, no matter how much it pained you. So you averted your gaze north. His hair was an unruly mess of curls. You hadn’t seen his natural hair ever since he discovered hair gel. Yet you knew inmates weren’t exactly living or being treated luxuriously.
“I see you let off on the hair gel.” You teased him. Your free hand played with the cord of the phone. “I like the curls. You should let your hair naturally be.”
“Yeah?” He perked up, subconsciously running a hand through his hair. “I-I was going for something different.”
“Oh yeah?” You played along. “Well, at least you didn’t shave it all off. I don’t think I could handle you without your hair.”
“I don’t think I could either…” He trailed off looking down.
Another thing you had noticed. “Hey, what happened to your glasses?” You slowly scooted your hand against the glass dividing you two.
Corey couldn’t meet your eyes.
“Corey?” You grew worried.
“They broke them…” He finally said.
“They? As in the ones who did that to you?” You couldn’t let it go. Not when he was suffering. You raised your arm higher tapping the spot where your finger aligned with his cheek.
“It doesn’t even hurt-“ Corey began to deny. Shaking his head for your sake.
“Cut the bullshit, Corey. Your pain is valid. If you’re hurting, then tell me.”
Corey slowly raised his head. He bit his lip. Then slowly gave in. His small nod in confirmation was all you needed. You closed your eyes.
“I hate this! I hate seeing you in pain. It’s not fair!” You exclaimed.
“It’s just two more months.” He reminded you.
“Yeah…”
“How are you?”
You looked up and narrowed your eyes. “I’m not the one behind bars Corey. I’m okay, really. How are you?” Here you were doing your avoidance thing. You weren’t here to talk about you.
“No seriously, tell me anything. It’ll make my day. What did you eat for breakfast?” He leaned foward pressing his head on the glass.
You sighed. “Breakfast?”
“Mmhm.” Corey nodded, urging you to go on.
“You know those chocolate chip pancakes with the-“
“Whip cream and syrup. God, that sounds so good!” He beamed. “You’ll have to make me some when I get out.”
You nodded furiously. Tearing up as you placed your hand flat against the glass. Corey leaned back and placed his hand flat over yours. “I’ll make you all the pancakes in the world…and so much more.” You gave a small smile. “God, I miss your touch. I just want to hug you so bad.”
“Two more months, peaches. Think you can wait till then?”
“We’ve made it this far right?” You beamed. “I’ll pick you up. I may or may not have gotten the car I’ve been wanting.”
“No way!” Corey’s mouth was agape.
“Yeah!” You spent the rest of your visiting hours talking about everything and anything, not wanting to let the conversation die down. You cherished every second with Corey.
Before you knew it those two remaining months had passed and Corey was let out. His heart skipped when the gate slid open and there you were perched up against your car. Your smile reached your eyes as he ran up to you. Enveloping you in a massive hug. His face falling into the crook of your neck. Inhaling your signature scent, and finally letting himself relax. Your arms wrapped around his shoulders pushing him against you closer. Your hands gripped and held onto his locks. You melted into his arms as he placed several pecks on your neck, then a few against your temple.
“Let’s get you home yeah, you stink?”
“Do I?” He smirked. Smelling into his elbow of his blue jacket. Then opening the flap and pulling you into it. You shoved him playfully trying to get away, but you wanted nothing more than to hold him longer. You were at arms length but something in you told you to finally take the first initiative. The first step into what you were holding back on. After a year of not being able to touch and hold Corey. You knew then and there you didn’t want to befriend that feeling ever again. It sucked ass, and now you were given a second chance to start something with him. You reached up and gripped the lapels of his jacket. Tugging them down. Corey followed and sighed as your lips molded together. Corey reached and let his hands roam your body, as you tugged and pulled on him and his locks.
“I meant what I said that night…” You pressed a hand on Corey’s chest to stop him in the midst of chasing your lips. “You’re mine.”
“Yours?” He hummed in amusement.
“I don’t want to lose you again.”
“You won’t. I promise you.” Satisfied with his response. You smirked, leaning forward to tug on his bottom lip. Corey tried to take a nip of yours, but you only teased and made him chase you some more.
“No more brats, okay.”
“No more brats.” He agreed, melting in your arms as he pressed your waist against your car’s hood.

A TOUCHY FEELING — COREY CUNNINGHAM

REQUEST: Last Corey fic was really good <3 maybe a fic that dives deeper into Corey being really touchy (not sexually) with the reader and overall being really physically affectionate?
WARNING(S): Fluff

People had a habit of questioning the status of your relationship with Corey. You would grow confused and ponder at the idea of you and him being considered more as friends. When simply, the way you acted around one other was natural. When Corey felt the need to hold your hand it was an automatic response of his to press a kiss upon your knuckles. When Corey was being sweet, say he brought you your favorite snacks from the gas station. You’d react by giving him a kiss to his cheek.
Being physically affectionate with one another wasn’t out of the ordinary for you both. It became a habit when Corey and you started middle school. His own mother watched him, holding him by the collar so tight that if she saw even the slightest signs of him wanting to have a social life, especially with a girl...well she made it her mission to deprive him of the pleasure. Corey practically craved dependency, but his mom needed someone to project her emotions on to. She wasn’t constantly screaming at Ronald now was she? Corey wanted nothing more than to get away from her. He had every right to feel this way. She was infuriating after all. Difficult, really.
It was bad enough that Corey’s mom didn’t want to accept the fact that you were in fact a girl in his life. A friend he associated himself with and declared most of his personal time to. It made fumes come out of her ears. It took Corey a whole month trying to convince her you weren’t a threat. That you weren’t gonna take away her ‘good boy’. God hearing her say those words made you want to cut off your own ears. But she caved…eventually, yet it didn’t mean she wasn’t gonna stop throwing jabs at you here and there. Though what really hit the fan was when she told you that she really didn’t view you as a threat. You thought it was cute. Her own unique way of saying she didn’t think you were someone Corey would be involved with.
Corey’s mom had shown him what her version of loving him was, which was mostly guilt tripping him and manipulating him from ever leaving home. It was never a form of real love. Never true, never honest. So now any time Corey made small or big gestures to you, you made sure to show your gratitude and appreciation for all the things he did.
You were seated outside of the hospital on a bench eating your sad lunch of a ham sandwich. You made it look appetizing, but in reality you ended up removing the tomatoes you added. You weren’t fond of the sweetness it gave off. You cursed silently, seeing that a small drop of mayonnaise now coated your maroon scrubs. You were in the midst of wiping it off your pants, when a pair of lips attacked the back of your neck. You jumped at the contact, and let out a sigh of relief when Corey plopped down right next to you. He chuckled as your form slumped back against the benches.
“M’sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” The boyish smile was still present, still blessing your sight. Not a day went by where you didn’t think about how fucking attractive Corey was. You blinked back to reality, averting your eyes down to your lap. You wiped away a few bread crumbs onto the pavement. You could never really keep your eating area tidy and clean. You had your dad to thank for that.
“Scare me, never. I don’t scare easily.” You denied.
“I don’t know. You seemed pretty scared last week when we watched Final Destination.”
“Hey now...” You directed. “I enjoy a good scary movie, but when it comes to jump scares and suspense. I’m done for Corey. Done for.” You defended your reasoning.
“Yeah whatever.” He shoved you away, making you almost drop your half eaten lunch.
“Yeah, whatever.” You mocked, then took another bite of your sandwich. Corey motioned with his hand to give him a bite. “I took the tomatoes out.” You informed him while talking with your mouth full.
“That’s what gives it flavor!” Corey scoffed then took a rather big bite. More like he took a munch. You gawked at the lousy piece he left you with. The ham was sticking out, no longer aligned with the bread. He left you the corner, the fucking corner, at this point it was just the crust you were left to chow down on. Corey stifled a laugh as he finished chewing. You were burning him with your laser eyes.
“I’ll buy you dinner tonight.” He offered in hopes to butter you up into a good mood. He grabbed your hand, interlacing his with yours, he turned your wrist at an angle to press a kiss on top of your knuckles. Your heart's rhythm increased, thumping an extra beat for him.
“Stupid...” You side eyed him, then stared at your sad little corner piece with a pout. You still ate it, it wasn’t great, but you still ate it. “I want take out from-”
“From Little Tokyo, I know.” He nodded. He looked off, watching cars come and go from the parking lot. The rush hour of lunch brought the lot to life. You grabbed for an apple slice, the first bite into the piece had Corey already sticking his hand out for one. You gave him the remainder of your piece. Feeling goofy when he looked down then spared you an incredulous look. You’re unbelievable, was surely his thought at the moment. He didn’t complain about it though. Gladly accepting the slice and plopping it into his mouth.
It was times like this one where you were appreciative of the comfort Corey brought you. Lunch was your only down time to destress from, after the morning hours. He was normally across town working on cars and engines, but it made your heart soar, that he always went out of his way to make the little commute over to sit with you. Corey hardly ever brought his own lunch, just happy to eat whatever you were willing to share with him.
“Can I have another one?” He laughed, as he reached for your lap where the opened ziplock lay.
“You want the rest?” You asked mid chew. A shake of no had you only giving him one slice.
Twenty minutes was not enough time to satisfy you. You always needed an extra ten to talk with Corey, though you knew you had the evening to look forward to. Where you and him could talk each other's ears off until they’ve bleed of irritation.
How’s work been?” Corey angled his body to face you.
You slowly started gathering your trash and packing your remaining apples away. You shook your head wanting to shake the morning hours out of your mind.
“It was fine. Had a rush-in this morning. A dad running in with his daughter in his arms. She had broken her left arm. So there was that. Um…” You shrugged. “Nothing interesting really, other than my friend Allison telling me to bring my mystery guy to this party and to get all dressed up as a sexy nurse.” You laughed.
“Sexy nurse?” Corey matched your amusement. His eyes narrowed and smirk visible.
“Yeah the whole nine yards. Fish nets, heels, the top three buttons undone.” You charade the motion of a shirt popping open. Corey looked down at his lap shaking his head. “Though if anything I’d spray on fake blood. Give the whole deranged crazed look ya know?” You narrowed your eyes. “Remove the sex appeal the outfit gives off. Keep away the weirdos.“
“I don’t know…some people like a little crazy. Especially if you’re a sexy nurse covered in blood.” Corey stifled a laugh.
“I don’t know though. Sexy nurse, that’s not me. I mean look at me-“
“I am.” Corey smiled.
“Do I look like someone who gives off sex appeal?” You gestured to all of yourself.
“Yeah you do.” You froze looking back to Corey. You searched for a microscopic sign that he was just joking. His face remained serious. Not avoiding eye contact. He looked right at you.
“What?” You mustered as loud as you could, but your voice was as small as a mouse.
“Do you ever think about it?” Corey shifted his gaze down at his shoes, subconsciously readjusting his glasses. A nervous habit of his.
“About what Corey?”
“About us.” He peered up at you with those big brown eyes.
You let a laugh out through your nostrils. A smile forming slowly. “What about us, silly?”
“Do you ever think we could be more?”
“More than…friends?” You asked carefully.
“Yeah.” Corey beamed at you. His boyish smile makes your heart flutter.
“I’d be lying if I say I didn’t.” You felt silly not wanting to meet his eyes that were already watching you. “But I haven’t stopped the idea of us being together before…and I don’t want to now.”
“Me neither.” Corey’s smile reached his eyes. His face fell into the crook of your neck. Pressing sweet and small kisses to your skin. He worked his way up to your cheek, only pulling away when your noses brushed against one another. “What time you get off work today?” Corey closed his eyes. Letting your breathing sync as one. You hadn’t registered that you were breathing quickly until Corey asked you the question. You didn’t even do anything, yet you felt your entire body shoot up with adrenaline. It felt like you just ran a mile.
“What? Oh uh, not till seven.” You closed your eyes too.
“I’ll pick you up. I’ll take you out to dinner or we could order in if you're too tired after work.” Corey let up from your noses touching and let his eyes roam over you. He could paint a portrait of you from every little detail he’s memorized about you.
“Considering the day it’s been so far. I’d say this shift is gonna kick my ass. Ordering in sounds perfect, Core.” You let your head fall down onto his chest. He got a laugh out of your exaggeration. “God what is life without you Corey Cunningham?” You shook his arms for the dramatics.
“A life without judgment.”
You immediately lifted your head. You sighed seeing the half smile now dotting his face. His eyes no longer crinkled at the edges. They were more relaxed.
“Corey-“ You started to objectify him.
“What it’s true?” Corey's eyes lit up. He shrugged nonchalantly. All you heard was bullshit fall from his mouth. “Your life would be ten times better if our paths never crossed.”
“Yeah…no.” You pursed your lips and shook your head.
“You can’t honestly believe that I don’t screw up your life. That by knowing me by association, your life-“
“My life!” You shushed him with a finger pressed to his lips. “Is perfect. Especially with you in it. To hell what other people think. I know you Corey. Me. I do, not your mom, not Ronald, especially not everyone who looks at you like you’re poison. I know you, and I know deep down that all the shit people say affects you deeply. You try not to show it, but I see it all Corey.” You frown. “How can you say that my life would be better without you in it. My life would suck ass, Corey. Like the world is ending, kind of sucking.” You let out a halfhearted laugh. “I don't know what my life would be like without you in it, and I don't know about you but I don’t exactly plan on finding out anything soon.” You groaned as you wiped your tears away that spilled. “My lunch break is over thank you for that stupid.” You stood up looking down at your curly haired brunette.
Corey relaxed back, manspreading as he looked up at you.
“What would I do without you?”
You pondered the thought and let a few seconds pass like you were thinking. “Crash and burn. Go completely unhinged, probably kill someone.”
“I guess I’m lucky then.” He reached for your hand pulling you in between his legs. To an outsider the act may have looked like you two might have been together, but nah, this was how you two worked. It just worked.
“I guess you are.” You snorted, as he thumbed over your knuckles again. You turned your wrist and looked at the time. Your shift was now over. “Times up.” You smiled and raked a hand through his hair. Ever since you told him about letting off the hair gel, his curls started defining more.
“I should head back too.” He stood up now. Your hands still locked.
“I wished you’d let me drive you. Your bicycle won’t hold up forever.” You teased, poking him in the chest.
“I think it will.” Corey smirked, gesturing past your shoulder. Your face crunched up in confusion. You turned your head, eyes falling on the death trap that stood a few feet away from you two.
“Wha—- When the hell did you get a motorcycle?” Your mouth opening and closing.
“A few days ago. Ronald said he didn’t have much use for it anymore, and just…gave it to me.” Corey beamed with excitement. How dare he, right? Now you couldn’t rain on his damn parade.
“Well that explains why you weren't out of breath this time?” You laughed. It didn’t cross your mind yet until now. Corey usually showed up out of breath when he’d meet you for lunch.
“Would you want my bicycle?” Corey nudged your shoulder as you and him kept looking at the bike.
“Why the fuck would I want your bicycle?”
“Cause I don’t need it anymore. I have my own means of transportation now.” God you wanted to smack that smirk off his face.
“You mean the death trap.” Corey rolled his eyes at you
“Here we go…” He sighed.
“You’re not seriously thinking of driving it?” You shook your head. You’ve had your fair share of motorcycle accidents come into the ER. You didn’t want to find Corey half dead one day.
“I already fixed it, Y/n!” He argued.
“Well…unfix it!” You shrugged, lamely.
“I’ll take you on a ride. How about that? It’s not scary.” He grabbed your hand again.
“Your definition of scary and my definition of scary are two completely different things.”
“It’s just fast. It’s like a rush of adrenaline.” Corey could already imagine the feeling. A breathy laugh came out. You bit your lip, anxiously. You fiddled with his fingers to try and relieve the overwhelming thought of trying something out of your comfort zone.
“Is this gonna be like the time you tried to get me to face my fear of heights—-cause that didn’t pan out so well, Corey.” Your eyes rose up to his.
“It’ll be better this time.” He cupped the back of your head and brought you closer. His lips pressing against your temple. “I promise.”
You looked back at the bike feeling queasy at the looks of it.
“One ride.” You grumbled.
“Yes!” His boyish smile was back again. He finally let go of you and started walking backwards to his bike. You crossed your arms and shook your head at your stupid boy.
He smirked, then swung his left leg over the seat. You slightly draped your left leg over your right. Feeling a new feeling in the pit of your stomach and somewhere else too.
Though the real feeling you had was fear as you watched him slip his glasses off and pocket them.
“You can’t see!” You exclaimed. “Corey!”
“I can see just fine.” He defended. Then let his eyes rake up and down your form.
You gawked as he revved on the gas and took off.
Oh yeah…you were done for.

You never doubted yourself when you found solitude staring up at your white ceiling, sprawled back on your bed. Your room was your place of comfort, the only real space where you felt the safest and away from harm. You couldn’t complain...yet when confined within the fours white walls, well it certainly gave off imprisonment rather than a sacred chamber. Living with your parents while trying to begin financially supporting yourself was a process in itself that you wished would go by faster. Moving out took time sadly. The harsh reality of your situation. You loved your parents dearly, but there were times that they could be unbearable.
The rattle of your door knob didn’t distract from staring at your fairy lights over you.
“Y/n.” The sound of your mothers voice made you roll your eyes. Her next attempt was trying to get you to go down and have a civil dinner with her and your dad. You weren’t having it. First she complained how you had a terrible habit of staying up too late. Claiming that you could handle doing such a thing at your age, but when you get to her age. Sleeping late would come to bite you back in the ass. Next she said she had every right to remove your laptop from your possession. Berating and asking what you did on it all night. What grabbed your attention on the device? What importance being up all night on it had to you?
It was simple really. You just wanted to write away until you had a bad case of carpal tunnel. It was your coping mechanism, your escapism from the real world because when the real world had nothing to offer you, fiction offered you a whole new world to hide behind. So when she claimed to worry about your state of being and health. She took the laptop and grounded you.
Grounded in your twenties. You got a laugh out of how ridiculous it sounded. Much more when you couldn’t even meet up with Corey to go to the movie theater.
Your hands on your stomach and your phone next to you as you waited for the familiar picture of Corey’s cheesy smile to light up your screen. The second your ringtone went off, you were snatching your phone and rolling onto your stomach to answer the call.
“Hiiii.” You exaggerated like you always did when you answered a call.
“Hi peaches wanna tell me why you’re not standing right next to me at the theater?” Corey looked around as people passed by him. Some bumping into him, and others not paying him any mind. He bit his lips nervously. One hand pocketed into his blue bomber jacket, while the other held the phone up to his ear.
“I can’t make it-” You began.
“What the hell do you mean you can’t make it?” Corey’s eyes widened. “We’ve been talking about seeing this movie for weeks now!”
“I’m held up in my cell at the moment.” You fiddled with a lose string from your stuffed animal in front of you.
“You got arrested?” You moved the phone from your ear as Corey practically yelled into it.
“No...” You sighed heavily. “It’s much worse, I fear. I got grounded.”
“What- Oh shit!” Corey finally dawned onto your words. “Seriously?” He complained. “They do know you're an adult now, right?”
“Corey I don’t think they seem to grasp the concept.” You dejected. You ran a hand down your face. “Anyway, I can’t go.” You trailed off. You shook your head. You felt incredibly stupid.
“What’d they take this time?” Corey looked down at his shoes.
“M-My laptop. All my shits on there Corey.” Your voice broke. “It’s not fucking fair. It’s like they have this—-this need to constantly try to control my life. Have me by the collar or some shit. I’m so done with them!”
“I’ll be over in a bit okay.”
“What?”
“Yeah. Just give me a few. I have to make a quick stop first, though.”
“Wait no Corey—-bitch I’m grounded!” You tried reasoning, but the call ended before you could attempt to do so. “Hello…Corey?” You pulled the phone back now seeing your lock screen picture of you and him. His lips squished against your cheek while the crinkles in your eyes were visible. Your smile lopsided as you thumbed over his stupid face. You flipped back onto the bed as you waited for him to arrive.
-
You didn’t know how long you had been scrolling through your phone until the melodious thuds against the window glass grabbed your attention. You shot up into a sitting position. Your eyes falling onto Corey sheepishly smiling at you. His backpack on his back and his glasses slightly sliding to the tip of his nose. He pushed them back up when you walked over to unlock it and provide him entry into your bedroom.
“Nothing to fear, your favorite person is here.” He smiled your way. A smirk painting his face.
“Debatable.” You snickered at him. Leaning forward to get closer to his face.
“Indisputable.” He shot back.
“Disputable.” You couldn’t fight back the smile on your face.
“Alright stupid, you gonna let me in or are we gonna settle to see who has a bigger vocabulary?” Corey let out a breathy laugh. You gave in and stood back as he not so smoothly made his way inside. You groaned as you practically dragged him through your window. The swing of his long legs knocking over something on one of your dresses by the window. You winced as the item fell with a loud thud. Cursing at him to keep quiet. He groaned once he stood tall. He set his bag down at the edge of your bed then turned his whole face to you. Before you knew it his arms had wrapped around your shoulders pulling you into his chest. Your voice muffled as he pressed your face into his chest, but he let up to allow you to relax in his grasp. You breathed in his cologne for a bit, letting yourself get familiar with the scent once again before you finally let your hands slide over his waist and rest on his lower back. He smelled like home. He felt like home.
“Turn that frown….upside down.” He sing-songed into the side of your face. He pressed a kiss to your temple before pulling back and dragging you over to your bed. “I come bearing gifts, peaches.”
“Is it my laptop?” You pouted, falling down onto the mattress.
“Well…” You perked up and sat up. You gasp seeing him pull out your silver device.
“No fucking way. Corey, are you serious?” You hit him watching his face contort into pain. “Oh my fucking god!” You exclaimed. Throwing yourself over him and peppering his cheeks with your apple flavored lips. “How did you—“
“Yeah your mom saw me pass her window. She stopped me before I made my way over.” Corey grimaced up at you.
“Unbelievable. She’s trying to butter me up.” You scoffed when you took the device and walked it over to your desk. “But thanks, I owe you.” You had gently gripped his chin and pressed your lips to his cheek again. Your hand lingers before pulling away. “So is that all you brought with you or is that it?” You gestured to his bag.
“How dare you assume otherwise.” He looked offended. Then he pulls out a take out bag from your favorite place to eat. You gawked at the food, hearing your stomach growl, then looked back at Corey.
Corey, Corey, Corey.
“If you’re still single by the time you’re thirty, I’ll fucking marry you, Corey. I’ll have your babies despite not wanting children.” You took the food from him after a kiss to his cheek again. “To hell with your mom too. I will!”
“Yeah…is that a promise?” He couldn’t help a small tinge in his heart. He honestly would love nothing more. You stopped mid phase of opening the box. You looked up at him, to see him waiting for your response patiently. Your heart skipped. He looked more relaxed than usual. His chest was open to you. He had leaned in closer to engage with you more. What was happening right now? Your eyes relaxed. You weren’t stupid, even though you tended to act as though, to save yourself from confrontation. You couldn’t with Corey though. That’s not how this dynamic of yours worked. You told each other everything. You both were extremely comfortable with one another and extremely affectionate. He was your person and you his. You’d want nothing more than a lifetime with him. An eternity if it was possible.
“You know what—-yeah. It’s a fucking promise.” You set the food down and leaned forward offering up your pinky to him. Corey was at loss for words now. He stared down at your pinky, then back up to you. “Well don’t leave me hanging.” You half heartedly laughed.
Your laugh died out when he reached forward to cup your face. His lips were the next surprise as they pressed against yours. You let out a meek noise of surprise before you settled into the kiss and let your lips move against his. You had closed your eyes to dwell in the moment. You breathed in and out heavily through your nose as he squeezed your hips, pulling you onto his jean clad lap. Thighs on each side of him. You pushed him back slightly, in need of oxygen. Corey’s chest rose and fell heavily as he tried to catch his breath. His forehead fell against yours. You felt the movement of his head. Shaking his head no.
“I’m sorry.” He apologized.
“You’re sorry?” You questioned.
“N-Not about the kiss…I just—-I don’t want to wait that long to be with you.” Corey licked his lips before continuing. “I’ve loved you since middle school, and I have loved you since high school, but I don’t think I can make it through college.“ He let out a breathy laugh. You smiled back.
“You’ve loved me for that long?” Your nose scrunched up. Your eyes doe and your head tilting at the thought. Your heart yearned and longed.
“I’ve always loved you.” He corrected you. “Loving you never had a limit.“
“Yeah?” Your voice came out breathy.
“Yeah!” He exclaimed happily. It was such an overwhelming feeling of relief and joy…and love. You leaned in and pecked his lips sweetly.
“I cannot believe my mom saw you.” You laughed. “You suck ass at sneaking around.”
“Yea I know…” Corey closed his eyes in defeat. “Your dad did too by the way. He waved at me.”
“He waved at you?” You looked at him incredulously.
“He waved at me. I was scared.” Corey laughed. He kept on rambling. You and him continued to laugh and enjoy each other's company for the rest of the night.
