⭐"I am not your puppet!"⭐ So, I've decided to share some character aesthetic boards for the main characters in my debut novel... And who better to start with than the leading lady herself, Caldera Keane. (I'm so happy with how these turned out, I love them 😁❤) . . . . #aestheticboard #moodboard #aesthetic #aesthetics #writerfriday #writerweekend #inspiredtowrite #creativity #creatives #writingabook #writinganovel #writingbooks #writershelpingwriters #authorssupportingauthors . #amwritingspeculativefiction #booksbooksbooks #womenwhowrite #wordcount #writersblock #writersofinsta #scifiniche #writingniche #booknerd #indieauthor #ilovewriting

Finding Your Writing Niche
There are various genres of writing which may be considered as an author’s niche in the publishing world. It is best if you determine your niche in order to have a rewarding writing career. Depending on your writing style, you will be classified by the publishers under a particular genre or category.
Know Yourself
Identifying your niche starts with knowing yourself. Your niche is what distinguishes you from the rest of the many writers aspiring to succeed in the publishing industry. It defines your unique identity as a writer.
It is thus very important that you ask yourself honest questions. What do you love to write about most? What is the common denominator of your themes and topics? Do you enjoy telling stories or presenting facts? Do you want to write about imaginary situations, or do you want to write about real events? What motivates you to write? These are a few of the questions that you need to answer in seeking to know your niche.
Genres in Fiction Writing
Some of the most common genres in fiction writing are literary fiction, science fiction, horror, fantasy, thriller/suspense, mystery, action/adventure, and romance. There are other categories aside from these, not to mention their corresponding subgenres, but the leading genres for self-published books are romance, science fiction, fantasy, and mystery/thriller/suspense, according to a study by Los Angeles-based sci-fi author, Edward W. Robertson. He concluded that “these four genres continue to comprise 70 percent of Amazon’s e-book sales, and roughly half of those sales are of self-published books.”
So it might be safe to say that you should not only focus on writing, but also take the numbers into account if you want to be a bestseller.
Benefits of Finding One’s Niche
One advantage of knowing your writing niche is that you get to focus on marketing. You may create a branding strategy that centers around your niche and field of writing. Also, writing within a niche allows you to figure out who your target audience is. Then you can analyze the needs or tastes of this specific group of readers.
In addition to discovering your writing voice, you get to enhance your strengths as a writer once you have found your niche. There is a big possibility that, as your audience grows, you will eventually become a respected expert to turn to for inspiration and insight in your genre.
Indeed, finding your niche really matters if you want to achieve your fullest potential as a writer and survive in the competitive world of writing and to achieve your fullest potential as a writer.
