#wouldnt necessitate ACTUALLY BEHAVING LIKE AN AUTOBOT by following their code of honor

The Autobots are very principles-focused as opposed to the Decepticons' pure pragmatism/utilitarianism, as a general rule. And while you can make a valid argument about how maybe trying to uphold abstract moral principles can lead to unnecessary losses of tangible people and resources, you have to actually argue it with a specific example in which morality came at the cost of outcomes. And not like "Optimus Prime is overly moralizing because he cares more about organics than Cybertronians" as if being willing to inconvenience one's personal war crusade in order to spare innocent lives is some sort of character flaw and not something incredibly selfless and farsighted.
#squiggposting#like goddamn you ever see a post 'criticizing' the autobots that basically boils down to#'gosh darn it theyre so evil for having a moral code and not sacrificing innocents for the sake of victory'#or alternatively it's M stans who are like 'theyre punishing M for not conforming to their impossible standards!'#as if showing your change of heart by signing up to become an autobot#wouldnt necessitate ACTUALLY BEHAVING LIKE AN AUTOBOT by following their code of honor#like come the fuck on i can think of far more interesting ways to criticize the autobots than this weak ass#'actually theyre selfish for prioritizing organics instead of winning just so they can act morally just'#not sure how to explain this but protecting innocent noncombants and being against colonialism ARE morally just#make better arguments
