Everything that goes wrong in the Jurassic Park movie franchise is a result of capitalism.
Instead of reviving dinosaurs one by one so they could be studied in isolation by biologists, revolutionizing our understanding of prehistoric life, they revived as many as they could and immediately tried to make a zoo out of creatures they didn't fully understand.
They cut corners to open the park as early as possible and make as much profit as possible. An IT staff of two people for a heavily automated park, are you kidding?
The park was sabotaged by rivals who wanted to steal dinosaur embryos and get in on the money, something that would have been pointless if the technology hadn't been horded so someone else could make all the money.
They kept going back to the park in the other movies because people kept trying to mess with the dinosaurs for money.
Jurassic World imploded because running an AMUSEMENT PARK WITH DINOSAURS somehow wasn't profitable enough. The line had to keep going up, so they had to make a super dinosaur and try to sell raptors to the military.
Jurassic Park would have been just fine as a non-profit that focused on study and care instead of making money. Yes, yes, chaos theory, life finds a way, blah blah, but in reality we contain large, dangerous animals all the time. Every major city has a zoo, and even the idiots who keep tigers as personal pets don't normally get shredded by them. Dinosaurs aren't magic, there's nothing about them that makes them fundamentally impossible to control.
The movies make it very clear that dinosaurs themselves are wonderful, majestic creatures. No one suggests they shouldn't be around (other than the famous quote about "could" vs "should") or that the islands where they live should be napalmed to kill off these dangerous monsters. The problem isn't the dinosaurs, it's the need to somehow make them profitable.
Jurassic Park isn't a torment nexus, it's just a nexus. People just keep trying to make money off it, which turns it into a torment nexus...like every other wonderful thing people try to twist into a tool for profit.
jurassic park has a good philosophical message but unfortunately the only thing i ever take away from watching jurassic park is "god i wish i could go to jurassic park." like yeah it's a blatantly obvious don't create the torment nexus scenario, but this torment nexus has DINOSAURS.
