Huge amount that can be said about Batley, less than 10 years ago you have Jo Cox getting murdered, then you have Tracy Brabin as MP who goes on to be mayor of West Yorkshire, there's the whole teacher in hiding debacle and now their new MP is an independent who ran on a Muslim platform, and whilst this isn't the first time someone has succeeded at doing that in British politics, it is still a fairly unusual thing.
