It was so embarassing. How could you be in your twenties and still not have had your first kiss? You mostly kept that fact to yourself, of course. Somehow there was always a way for you to avoid the topic. Even when you went to parties and played some dumb drinking game that whoever was the most drunk probably suggested, you still always lucked out when it came to confessing your deepest secret.

It's not like you would have judged anybody else for waiting. You just felt so silly, because you've had a couple of chances. But whenever a guy you liked leaned in to kiss you, you turned your head. Some stupid survival instinct took over. Your body started to feel cold in shock and you would move away as fast as you possibly could. You lost all control of your actions in these situations, so you just tried to avoid kissing altogether. It didn't make dating any easier, though...

The only person you ever told your secret to was Jeongin. He was the only one you trusted.

Originally you didn't really care for eachother. To be honest if it wasn't for you almost running into traffic while on an outing with your friends, you probably wouldn't even have talked that much. Luckily he noticed what was about to happened and grabbed your arm to get you to safety. That night was the first time you actually had a genuine conversation. And slowly but surely you became friends, best friends.

The two of you were walking back home after going out for ice-cream, when you told him about how you couldn't go further with your last date, again. You explained that it all went well until he tried for a kiss and you panicked like usual. "Why do you think you always panic like that?", Jeongins question was genuine. "I don't know. I just...", you really thought about it for a moment, wanting to be honest, before you allowed yourself to continue, "I think I'm scared I'll be bad at it." You lowered your head in shame. It's not like you actively chose to react the way you did. It was like an instinct. You body was telling you it was a bad idea to do something you weren't sure you would ace. It's always been like this for you in any other matter, so of course it wouldn't be different when it came to your first kiss.

You noticed that your best friend stopped walking besides you when your shoulder felt cold, not bumping into his anymore.

You turned around. "Innie-" "How would you know if you're bad at it when you haven't even tried it?", he interrupted you. He seemed genuinely bothered by what you had said. "I don't know. I'm just worried I'll kiss someone and won't know how to move my lips and what to do with my hands. I don't want it to be bad."

"So how can we fix that? I can't keep listening to you be sad about every failed date. Do you have any idea how nice it feels to kiss someone? To feel their lips press against yours? To feel so intimate with someone? God, sometimes I'm so annoyed with you.", Jeongin was staring into your eyes as you noticed pure determination flashing through his. "I'll help you."

"HUH?", you stumbled back a little, as if his words physically hit you. His offer truly surprised you. He never showed any interest in you, so why would he suggest something like this? "I'll teach you where to put your hands. The kissing is just instinct anyways. It will come to you naturally, I promise.", he didn't want to make you feel uneasy. "But I can help you practice what to do with the rest of your body." You looked at him with wide eyes. The boy in front of you started to worry that he may have suggested something you weren't comfortable with. "Only if you want to of course. I thought maybe it-" "Okay, let's do it." This time it was him that needed to sort his thoughts. He seemed to lose some of his confidence. "Are you sure?"

You nodded, closing some of the distance between you by taking a step foward. "Okay, so what do I do, oh great king of kisses?" "Please don't call me that.", Jeongin chuckled as he sent you one of his beautiful smiles. You fully believed could lose yourself in his smiles if only he'd let you. "I'll grab your waist with my hands like this.", he hovered his hands over your waist before you gave him permission to hold onto you with a nod. The space that was still between you made things a little awkward, so he applied some pressure with his hands, pulling you closer. You were so close that you could swear you felt the warmth his body emitted.

The singer looked at your face, pbserving your features up close. You did the same as you admired him. Out of all the people in this world, he was the one person you would never mind being around. He was your comfort person.

You were just standing there as he held onto you, your arms dangling down your sides, unsure what to do with them. Jeongin noticed you shifting your arms uncomfortably. "Here...", he removed one of his hands from your body and pointed to his shoulders. "You can hold onto my shoulders if you want.", you felt the warmth of his palm back on your body "Mhm." You grabbed his shoulders, but the position felt unnatural to you, so instead you shifted to hold onto his neck. "Is this okay, too?" He nodded, suddenly very aware of your almost nonexistant distance. Your faces were so incredibly close, he could see everything. He saw the imperfections that you were usually insecure about, trying to cover them in makeup. There was a noticable blush on your cheeks. That one strand of hair that kept dangling in front of your eyes whenever there was a soft wind. But the one thing that kept drawing his attention, was how your eyes stayed focussed on his lips, not looking up once.

You had noticed the energy switch and started to feel uneasy, just like you usually would when you got this close to someone. Your eyes were drifting away from him as the floors suddenly seemed very interesting. Your best friend moved his thumbs over your shirt in small circles, attempting to calm you down a little. This was the man you trusted most. There was no reason to be nervous. Your breathing got steady again, realizing that you were safe.

You didn't want to put him into a more weird position that he already was, so you decided to end his little lesson here, "Thank you for showing me, Innie. Next time I won't have to be worried about-" "Can I kiss you?", Jeongin cut you off.

You could swear your heart stopped beating for a few moments, your face snapping back up to look at him. After a moment you noticed that the usual fear you felt whenever anybody got close to kissing of you had been replaced with an immense need to feel closer to the man in front of you. There was an intensity to your heartbeat, but it wasn't an uncomfortable feeling. Instead you felt warm.

With one look into his eyes you saw nothing but sincerity. He would never continue if you didn't want him to. And no matter how bad you would be at kissing, you were sure that he would never judge you.

Your face felt red hot when you realized how you would respond. A small smile finding it's way onto your face.

"I would really like that."

WHY HER REVIEW AND SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

So WhyHer?/Why Oh Soo Jae? ended today and I could honestly say I'm happy with it. I didn't expect it to get so heavy but it was great nonetheless. Plot was a solid 8/10, pacing was a 8/10, characters were a 9/10 and the cast was a 10/10. The actors and actresses really drove the plot and characters home for me. SEO HYUN JIN DESERVES SOME AWARDS FOR HER PERFORMANCE. Let's not kid ourselves here, she took the character Oh Soo Jae and did it absolute justice. Hwang In Youp also did Gong Chan justice. KUDOS TO THEM!!!

Gong Chan honestly has my heart😭. Some people said Choi Tae Guk went out to easy and I could see why they said that but honestly no, he absolutely suffered. He trampled over people's lives without remorse or simply just because, for his own personal glory, gain, amusement and vindication and he went out absolutely pitiful. It was so satisfying to watch how everything he worked for crumble around him. His goal was within grasp and to watch the rug be pulled out from under him left him absolutely tormented. He couldn't face it. His death was fickle and satisfying. Juwan and his buddies are most likely suffering and in jail for what they did to Eunseo and it is deserved. The assemblyman and the Ceo of Hansu are also in the dumps. Couldn't have ended better. No doubt they're also in jail. I didn't have a problem with the romance aspect of the show either. When I read the genre of drama and saw who the male lead and female lead were I put two and two together. Besides I've seen enough older man/younger woman tropes, I was kinda glad to see it reversed for a change. Plus Gong Chan had his life together and he was pursing her so it was a win for me. I don't go into a show with romance as a tag and then complain about it, I knew what I signed up for. It would've been weird if he was fresh out of high school but that wasn't the case. He's 28 if I remember correctly and she's 37. Two adults so it didn't bother me.

The legal clinic is honestly squad goals and the found family trope for Soo Jae with them, Gong Chan brothers, Song Mi Rim and Doc Joon Hee is honestly *chef's kiss*. She got people who would have her back regardless. Yoon Sang was being a little shit but he came through in the end, I hope he's happy.

Y'all look at the material 😭😭😭😭. They're healing, happy, healthy, together and thriving and that's honestly all I wanted. Some viewers were disappointed with the lack of the "I love you" scene but in my opinion it would've been cliche and over-rated. Gong Chan has been declaring his love for her since the beginning and she returned the favor in episode 9. Besides I think "I'll always be by your side no matter what", "you could hate me just don't go anywhere" and "the same goes for you too, don't go anywhere" is so much better than "I love you". It wasn't an opening ending which I'm also grateful for cause those two, with everything they've been through, deserve a win. Safe to assume they've been together for the entire 6 month period timeskip. I'm glad Oh Soo Jae is happier. Her character development was stellar. She was never a cold character, it was just the environment and the people she was around. My only complaint is the way they did Jae Yi. I have never and I mean never sobbed like that for a character that had less than 15 minutes of screen time. It literally came out of nowhere!! I was expecting Chan to die cause he was so damn protective of Soo Jae, was mentally preparing myself for it then the writer took the kid. I was flabbergasted!

Anyways the show gets a 9/10 from me and I would watch again (just not episode 11, 12, 13, definitely 14 and maybe the first half of 15) cause I'm gonna protect my peace🤣🤣😭😭. I'll miss them! Also this calls for celebration HWANG IN YOUP CHARACTER FINALLLYYYYYYY GOT THE GIRL😭😭😭😭.

Video games are decades ahead of films in terms of mainstream LGBTQ+ representation.

It’s not unusual for mainstream AAA games to feature gay characters, and most if not all games that come out now featuring romance options include same sex pairings.

And trans representation is also moving forward more quickly. Listen it’s slow don’t get me wrong but there’s certainly an attempt, from early stuff in Dragon Age Inquisition to now cyber punk 2033’s far more advanced representation of various gender identities.

I cannot think of a mainstream movie with that kind of representation, and it’s certainly not widespread. I saw the latest Star Wars movie the other day and I left with this strange empty feeling that came from knowing I probably wouldn’t see anyone like me be the protagonist of a movie like that in my lifetime.

On the other hand video games helped me realise I was gay and come to terms with that. They made wlw relationships normal, not even worthy of specific comment (I’m mostly shouting out Mass Effect and though I know the rep in those games has issues it was a really big deal for me) Shepard wasn’t just a lesbian she was an awesome space captain, and a lesbian. LGBTQ+ characters can just be part of stories, it’s not all period drama tragedies, or harrowing tales about conversion therapy. Those films are important I know but they just make me so tired and sad. Can’t I just watch a fun movie about laser sword fights with lesbians in it?

AHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I WOSJ 9 CPULD USE WORDS TO EXPLAIN

You’re not quite sure how it got to be like this. You ran a dog washing salon, one that was open of a late afternoon, for a couple of hours. It wasn’t the most lucrative business, but it worked out well, as you slept mostly during the day anyway, and people didn’t have to rush before or after work, to try and get an appointment. That and you got to spend time with some pretty cute animals. 

One night though, just as you were closing up, you had come across a rather filthy and roughed up looking dog, hiding behind some of the bushes. You couldn’t find it in yourself to ignore it, so you tried your best to help it. Eventually you managed to coax the massive thing inside, and give it a thorough cleaning. Though the cleaner it got, the more you started to realise that this was no dog.

Still, despite the fact that you were pretty sure you had some kind of hellhound in your salon, you gave it the best treatment you could, giving it a few treats once you were done. Afterwards, it simply went on its way, and though you were dazed by what had happened, you figured that was that.

Ever since that night though, you’ve had all sorts of monstrous visitors past normal closing time. They each now bring payment, though most of it isn’t exactly the kind you see from humans, and are all incredibly well mannered when it comes to you. You’ve become rather popular among non human circles, and not a day goes by anymore that you don’t have customers.

SPOILERS FOR WHY HER EPISODE 13/14

So I was planning to vent my thoughts on WhyHer? at the end of the series but bitch... yesterday's and today's episode completely broke me. If it's not Gong Chan it's Soo Jae, can't my babies be happy? The writers did not have to do her like that today. What was the point?? Why even confirm Jae Yi as her kid just to off her later? She was so happy😭😭😭. We got Gong Chan smiling finally, these last few episodes been kicking his ass, his sister was finally laid to rest and then they victimize us with this. I'm hurt. Just when we said things were looking up, they were about to burn down TK and those bastards to the ground we got more angst. I'm not even sure if the two main leads would survive until the end as well. We're down to the last 2 episodes and i have no idea how they're gonna wrap this up... it feels like it's gonna be rushed tbh. Y'all the writers couldn't take the vermin sons instead. They were right there😭😭😭😭. Doesn't Soojae deserve a win after everything they put her through. They've been kicking our asses since episode 9.

I'll say it Seo Hyun Jin and Hwang In Yeop better get some awards for these performances they've been putting on!!!!
