I have no backing for this other than It’s Cute and I Say So but I like to think that out of all mortal foods Wortox is particularly drawn to sweets. He seems like a pastry kind of guy. Even if he doesn't have any quotes to support it.

I could talk about the more elaborate idea behind this but the main concept is. Guy who is stuck in a constant cycle of life and death but who is also slowly devouring himself both metaphorically (guilt) and slightly literally (his aversion to eating)
