Son Observe the Time, Kage Baker

Immortal time travelers loot San Francisco before, during, and after the 1906 quake. They also fight each other over what should or should not be the true path of history.

Seems like typical shenanigans really.

Novelettes

Soldier's Home, William Barton

A cyborg returns to a megastructure colony after a war, and finds a reason to keep living.

Not bad. Not pleasant though.

The Oracle, Brian Stableford

One way to prevent time travel is for even a glimpse of the future to be so horrifying that it destroys your mind and life.

Still doesn't prevent time travel stories, unfortunately.

Short Stories

Human Bay, Robert Reed

The inter-dimensional trade in mythological creatures is apparently quite lucrative. But money can't make up for being an asshole.

Wormdance, Don D'Ammassa

Farming is a dangerous business. The reason that comes to mind with this story is horrible.

Old Glory, Phillip C. Jennings

In a post apocalyptic former United States, simple symbols can be a powerful means of communication.

The flag symbolizes very different things to different people, but it was only a short story.

When it rains, the worms will come to the surface of earth, we dance, so we can catch ya little guys to fill up our stomachs!!!

Since it is raining now, and I don't like to get wet

I will tell ya something about myself, more, GUL

I was born in Cardiff bay, nice place GUL?

And I have a huuuuuuuuge family

Ya humans was trying to count our population in 2011

But ya know we are now way more than that!

Seagull facts

Seagulls are opportunist feeders. Urban areas offer up a feast of food waste for them.

Seagulls prefer to nest on flat roofed buildings.

Studies show that once gulls find an area they like, they return year after year and will travel up to 40 miles to reach their favourite spot.

Seagulls can become very aggressive, especially when protecting their young.

In rural areas, where the gull population is decreasing, Roof-nesting Herring and Lesser Black gulls are protected species.

Lesser Black gulls cause the nuisance in urban areas.
