⚡️It’s one thing to regurgitate a tweet or something your read somewhere, it’s another to OWN the source material and have facts at your ACTUAL fingertips. In this case the trials of Shazam are where Captain Marvel takes the mantle of the dead wizard Shazam’s place( a’ la Gandalf’s white wizard outfit, which is glorious) and Freddy Freeman must complete the trials of the 5 gods and Solomon who are hiding in human form. In the end he is no longer captain marvel jr (where he would shout captain marvel to become Jr) but in fact he is officially deemed “Shazam” YES, FREDDY! (final panels of issue #12) 5 years later we got the new 52 rework from John’s and Frank and BILLY became ⚡️SHAZAM forever more! (Yes, prior to that in print he was addressed AS Captain Marvel all the way up to the #new52; just not in book title or covers, even as recently as #YoungJustice) As @zacharylevi mentioned there’s no reason for all this crazy bru-haha between fans.
