Hello everyone and hope your week has got off to a good start. It’s the penultimate Christmas book haul on my page today and I had to pop these four nonfiction beauties together as evidence of some of the gorgeous covers out there right now. If I hadn’t gone into science as a career I think I would have done something around animal conservation. World of Wonders looks into astonishing creatures around the world. This book is a collection of essays about the natural world and how it’s inhabitants can teach, support and inspire us. Something kept drawing me towards Light Rains Sometimes Fall, a British year through Japan’s 72 seasons. I’m planning to start reading this in February when the traditional Japanese year starts and I’m really looking forward to it! I’d love to start reading more poetry and figuring out what I like and don’t like. In this short book, Chris Riddell has selected and illustrated his favourite classic and modern poems about love. Finally, I was compelled to pick up Fifty Words For Snow. Writer and Arctic traveller Nancy Campbell explores the meaning behind all the different words for snow along with all the fascinating stories behind them.
