India’s batting line-up heavily dependent on its top-order will be rejigged. Therein lies their strength in depth and weakness that a set formula has been broken. And it begins with the broken opening partnership, arguably the most consistent in ODI cricket at present.
If you had to pick one of these teams to beat India in their first four matches at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Pakistan Vs India ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 there is no doubt a majority would land on the second choice. There is something about Australia that makes them perennial favorites at any world event, and it is no different this time around, especially with the returns of David Warner and Steve Smith.
The match is not expected to start off as per schedule (10.30 am local or 3 pm IST) with the prediction of showers up until 1 pm local (5.30 pm IST). The rain is expected to die down around this time but only briefly before reappearing an hour later. On the whole, it is expected to be a wet affair with precipitation chances hovering from 49 percent to 64 percent.

The Market for Smart beacon is Expected to Reach a Significant Value by 2025
Press Release Content:
Market Research Future (MRFR) announces the publication of its half-cooked research report – global smart beacon market 2019–2025
According to Market Research Future, the global smart beacon market has been segmented on the basis of beacon standard, connectivity type, component, end user, and region.
FREE PDF @https://www.marketresearchfuture.com/sample_request/8181
Smart beacons are easily scalable and have improved logistics operations with asset tracking, leading to improvements in capacity sensing, planning, reporting, and fault detection. Magnetic beacons and receiver with magnetic sensors are mostly adopted for a wide range of indoor events and applications such as pedestrian and robot navigation. Also, smart beacons in a wireless sensor network (WSN) helps in providing forest fire detection and animal tracking. For instance, during the preparations for the 2018 World Cup, the Russian Railways partnered with Navigine, a provider of software tools for mobile developers, and Kontakt.io, a provider of proximity technologies, to use Kontakt.io’s Bluetooth low-energy beacons, with smartphone sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, barometers, and magnetometers, and Navigine’s app to determine the user’s position in the station down to 1 meter. The app also incorporated relevant information like train schedules, platforms numbers, locations, and ticket purchasing capabilities.
The global smart beacon market has been segmented on the basis of beacon standard, connectivity type, component, end user, and region.
On the basis of beacon standard, the market has been segmented into iBeacon, Eddystone, others. The Eddystone beacon standard is projected to show the highest CAGR during the forecast period owing to enhanced and a number of new features as compared to iBeacon standard. Also, this standard is expected to be used by the retail industry for proximity marketing.
Based on connectivity type, the market has been segmented into Bluetooth low energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, and hybrid. Among these, Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is dominating the market owing to its low power consumption capabilities. Moreover, BLE modules are cheaper to manufacture, which brings down the overall cost of the BLE hardware, making it the most preferred choice for operating beacons.
By component, the market has been segmented into hardware, software, and services. Among these, the software segment is expected to be the fastest-growing during the forecast period as most of the companies are developing software such as mobile apps, analytical systems, content management systems, among others for beacon-enabled proximity platforms to make the beacons system cost-effective, durable, and efficient.
By end user, the market has been segmented into retail, hospitality, transportation & logistics, healthcare, BFSI, automotive, aviation, education, and others. Among these, the retail segment holds the largest market share in 2018 as the use of smart beacon for advertising and marketing has effectively impacted this sector. However, the transport and logistics segment is expected to show the highest CAGR during the forecast period owing to smart beacons ability to provide real-time asset tracking of delivery of goods to end users at a lower cost.

What crowdworkers can teach us about working at home
As schools across the UK closed their doors on Friday families focused on how they were going to create a coworking space at home. They spent their weekend moving furniture, clearing out spare rooms, refinding extension cable usually reserved for the xmas tree lights so as to create a new home office that could fit the whole family. We are fortunate enough to have a small extension that is open plan to our dining room that we can fit 3 of us into and we've squeezed an extra deskspace on the edge of the dining room so that we each have our own place to work.
My new coworkers include a teen, a tween who are used to spending their days at school and doing a bit of homework at the end of the day. The fourth member of our team is a middle-aged man who is used to getting most of his 'deep-work' done in the office, and only using home for catching up on email. None of them are happy to be here! I, on the other hand, am used to having the place to myself to get on with 'deep work' and use my office for face to face meetings. I've been working at home for at least a day a week (usually more) for the last 16 years, first motivated by avoiding the crazy costs of commuting into London and then to facilitate the juggling of school pick-ups that comes with family life.
Our new normal means scheduling our day around the timetable of a secondary school. They're encouraging the teen to do the work set during standard lesson time and of course that's completely necessary for live online lessons. The tween is doing a fantastic job of following the lesson plans that have been emailed over by his teacher this morning. And I've realised that this timetable isn't that different that one I followed on a writing retreat last year so this might actually work well for all of us. I don't often take a 20 minute break in the middle of my morning but it was lovely to stand out on the patio in the sunshine whilst having a cup of tea.
We all have different needs in this space. Two of us have online meetings with work colleagues and students, as well as video lectures to record. The teen is in the middle of an online lesson in google meets as I type - it seems that he doesn't have to say anything (thank goodness) but I can still just about hear the teacher's voice from his headphones. Being physically all in the same space isn't going to work for all hours of the day so meetings and lecture recordings are going to have to be made from bedrooms. Connecting socially online is also important now we are distancing ourselves physically from everyone else and the kids need time to talk to their friends so we've set up daily meetings for them with online conferencing software so that they can hang out together.
We're also trying to follow the WHO guidelines that state that children and youth aged 5–17 should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity daily https://www.who.int/dietphysicalactivity/factsheet_young_people/en/ Walks and runs around our local streets and park involve taking swerving routes away from people who don't seem to have worked out that moving into single file when you are coming face to face with someone is probably a good idea! Yesterday a group stopped still as they saw us coming towards them - all 4 of them stood side by side across the path!
In this new coworking world, the research I've been doing with my PhD student Laura Lascau into the environments in which remote crowdworkers do their work has taken on new personal significance. There are many parallels between the challenges experienced by crowdworkers and those that many families will find themselves facing this week and I've tried to take on board what we have learnt when designing our new coworking arrangements. In the rest of this post I'll summarise some of the findings from a paper we published last year and what we can learn from them:
Laura Lascau, Sandy J. J. Gould, Anna L. Cox, Elizaveta Karmannaya, and Duncan P. Brumby. 2019. Monotasking or Multitasking: Designing for Crowdworkers’ Preferences. In Proceedings of the 2019 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI ’19). Association for Computing Machinery, New York, NY, USA, Paper 419, 1–14. DOI:https://doi.org/10.1145/3290605.3300649 (The full paper is available open access here https://discovery.ucl.ac.uk/id/eprint/10066164/1/1.%20monotasking-multitasking-CHI2019.pdf )
We surveyed people who work from home regularly about what works for them and have been able to extract some helpful tips for others that find themselves in this situation now.
Making an office space
What changes would crowdworkers make to their spaces? Here are the top 4 things that they felt would improve their home work space.
multiple monitors - our participants were clear that having multiple monitors would help them to get their work done more easily rather than working only from a small screen.
have designated office spaces - they were also big fans of having a designated office space to work in. We pick up on this below when considering working around other people
more comfortable chairs - having to made do with a corner of the sofa, or someone’s bed as a workspace was common. Having a comfortable chair was see
larger desks - having a space to lay out everything they needed to complete their work was important
Working around other people
What are the most common challenges to focusing on work at home?
presence of other people
having the TV on
pets
digital distractions
About 40% of our participants worked from a shared space and struggled with integrating their demands of the different types of work they do with the constraints of their physical environment. As one of our participants told us:
"I would first and foremost move it into a private room. I miss out on numerous [jobs] because I am unable to record audio or video due to the fact others are making noise around me or would be in the webcam video. It also provides many distractions since it’s in the front room. A personal private room would be the best upgrade."
Tip: Find out from everyone what kinds of activities they need to do in their day in order to identify what kind of spaces you need. Are you able to provide everyone with their own working space? If not, do you need a quiet working space for those doing 'deep work' and another place where people can have online meetings? Is this going to work every day or do you need to agree to rotate around? Check in frequently with each other to make sure everyone is getting the type of space they need.
Managing distractions
What helps workers focus on their work?
quiet spaces,
limited distractions,
background entertainment (mainly listening to music)
Our participants told us about the strategies they use to manage distractions that come from other people:
"I use noise cancelling headphones. I tune out environmental noises or activities. I remain focused on what I’m doing. I do not engage in more than one activity at a time unless the [the work] require me to do so. I do not eat or listen to music while I work. I tend to work when the environment is calm rather than when I know those around me will be active."
"I try to work during times I know the kids are being independent or napping."
Tips: Sharing your work space with people who are prone to interrupt you is always difficult. Agreeing on a daily schedule that everyone agrees to might be helpful for helping to plan when you're going get your work done. Remember that everyone feels that their own work is important so you can't have one person dominating the way the space is being used. There's going to have to be a lot of compromise.
If you have young children then talk to them about what they can be doing whilst you get on with your work. Some children can get lost in a book or happily play for hours with their toys. Most children can be occupied by tv or digital games. If you can, stick on some headphones and power through! Perhaps young children could be entertained by grandparents through videoconferencing software - they could read stories to them, or have a chat.
Work-life boundary management and leisure time
People vary in terms of how they tend to manage their work-life boundaries. Some people prioritise work, others non-work, and some try to do both. People also vary in terms of how separate they like to keep these parts of their lives: 'integrators' are happy switching frequently between one and the other, perhaps to the point where these doesn't seem to be a boundary at all. 'Separators' like to keep them completely separate and wouldn't ever contemplate working at home or at the weekend.
It won't come as a great surprise to know that we saw that people who work from shared spaces such as family homes experience a far greater number of interruptions from personal matters when they were trying to work than those who were working from private spaces.
Tips: If you or your partner are separators then recognise that you're likely to find this new co-working environment challenging and that it will take time to adapt to it. Again a schedule can be helpful here so that you block time for work and time for non-work. Remember to schedule non-work activities whether that's time with friends, taking part in an online "pub" quiz or one of the many online exercise classes that have suddenly appeared.

England’s chances in the Cricket World CUp 2019
Here’s a prediction. England will win the World Cup in July and after his match-winning hand in the final, as well as some decisive innings in the Ashes, Jos Buttler will win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2019, making him only the fifth cricketer after Jim Laker, David Steele, Ian Botham and Andrew Flintoff, to win the award. And undoubtedly the most modest and unassuming. When Buttler first played for Somerset a decade ago he was compared to Botham, mainly for his incredible ball-striking ability. In fact he is nothing like Somerset and England’s greatest warrior. Botham, a bear of a man, hit sixes with muscular ferocity, pummelling the life out of the ball. Buttler is more feline, moving almost stealthily into position and then pouncing on the ball and easing it into the distance with a simple swipe of his Kookaburra blade. He has been blessed with perfect timing. A six seems to take nothing out of him. He is a nonchalant destroyer, as he showed in that amazing 150 off 77 balls against West Indies in Grenada recently. He barely seems to break sweat. That, perhaps above all, is why he is most feared. He doesn’t savagely assault a bowling attack so much as calmly dismantle it with an amazing range of shots that only his idol AB de Villiers can emulate. From the day when he made 227 for King’s College, Taunton in a 50-over game, Buttler’s natural gifts were obvious. Mark Garaway, England’s team analyst when Andrew Strauss was captain, saw the innings, and recalls: “His dominance and composure and ability to manipulate the innings were outstanding, and he was only quite small then.”
Buttler combines superb balance, phenomenal handspeed and withering power. He makes hitting the ball look ridiculously easy. And beautiful. And yet, just as some of the world’s most stunning women lack self-confidence, so Buttler has been prone to self-doubt and introspection. He has evolved various ways of dealing with it. One is the motto “F**k It”, written on the top of his bat handle. It was spotted last year by Sky TV cameras but actually it has been there since about 2013. “It came out of various conversations I had with our team psychologist Mark Bawden,” Buttler said last week. “We worked out that my best state of mind at the crease was when I just thought ‘f**k it’. Trust myself and let everything take care of itself. What will be will be. It’s a reminder to come back to trusting your instincts and not allow negative thoughts to dominate. It’s a really nice reminder. It brings me back to a good place. Even during an innings when I might be questioning myself a bit I get to the non-striker’s end and look at the top of my bat and it helps me make clearer decisions.” Presumably he didn’t have to look at it too much during that incredible demolition at Grenada. What was his state of mind then?
“Pretty calm actually. It was fun and I remember wanting to try and extend it as long as possible and wanting to be ruthless. Maintain consistency. Trying to stay in the zone. It’s almost a sort of meditative state, but also being alert and sharp. The best feeling when you’re batting is when your subconscious is doing everything and you’re there with a fairly blank mind. You almost play a shot and think ‘where did that come from?’ It’s the purest form of batting.
“That’s been one thing I’ve tried to work on in the last year – the mental side, trying to access that zone more consistently. It’s not good enough to just explain success by saying ‘it was my day today.’ How come Virat Kohli’s day is every day?! How does he get to that state so often? Something I’ve tried to tell myself is ‘you can do it every day’.
“When I was with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL last year I met a guy called Anand Chulani, a performance coach. Our conversation actually started with him trying to help me cure my chipping yips around the putting green! He recommends certain techniques – how to try and get into that subconscious state. You have to fi nd an anchoring system. Something like clicking your fi ngers or clenching your fi st – a bodily function to try and instigate that visualisation of feeling at your best. A cue, a movement. To remind your body of that special state.”
By the time you read this Buttler will be back in India for his second season with the Royals. He is eagerly looking forward to it. Although he had produced some wonderful innings for England before that, the Royals experience had a profound infl uence on him. He is now a more complete player, illustrated by his statistics. In the 10 months since that IPL he has made 1,700 runs for England in all formats at an average of 46. For comparison, Joe Root has scored 1,584 runs at 37 in the same period.
Buttler undoubtedly felt more at home with the Royals, more family-orientated than his previous franchise Mumbai Indians, dominated by the owner Mukesh Ambani – the richest man in India – who liked to surround himself with legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting. “Mumbai feels like the Manchester United of the IPL,” says Buttler. “A massive franchise in a huge city. A big operation. There’s a lot of expectation and pressure. The Royals felt like a much smaller outfi t, a bit more personal.” Initially he slotted in down the order, they let him fi nd his feet. “It probably wasn’t until mid-tournament that I got where I wanted to be. I was saying to my wife [Louise] how desperate I was to do well and she said, ‘Look, everyone wants to do well here. You’re no different from them. Stop trying to force it. Relax. Be yourself. Let it happen.’ “That was a big realisation point. There’s no doubt the smaller outfi t did make you feel more relaxed. It’s a big strength of that franchise – they make you feel at ease.” Once moved up to open, Buttler delivered, reeling off fi ve successive half-centuries – equalling the IPL record – in a number of winning causes. The Royals, in their fi rst season back in the IPL after a two-year suspension, made the play-offs. It wasn’t just Buttler’s skill that made the Royals’ UK-based owner Manoj Badale believe they’d got a bargain at £490,000. It was his attitude. “I sat next to him on a plane journey to one match,” Badale said. “He spent most of the time asking me about my business and what had made it a success. He even asked me if he could do some work experience at one of our companies.
I had never experienced a player with that openmindedness and interest in other people’s lives before.” Buttler says: “It’s really important taking an interest in something outside the game. I loved talking to Manoj, fi nding out about a different walk of life. I always try and keep cricket in perspective. It’s not the be-all and end-all. “Even on tour I want to try new things. Like, I had a go at wakeboarding in the Caribbean. It makes it better that it’s something you’re not really supposed to do. It makes you feel normal.” He cites Shane Warne, now the Royals’ coach/ mentor, as a huge infl uence: “I love listening to him – he’s a great storyteller, and has an incredible outlook on the game. He sees things differently. He just gave me so much confi dence. And it didn’t feel false either, which was a big thing for me. “When I got the recall to the England Test team I was excited, but there were a few nerves too. I just didn’t know how it was going to go. Warne just said ‘Enjoy it, be yourself and take it on. Be authentic, true to yourself. You’re good enough to do it.’ Coming from someone who is one of the greatest players to have ever played the game, that meant a massive amount.”
The impact was almost immediate. He made 67 at Lord’s against Pakistan, being particularly satisfi ed about a period when Mohammad Amir was bowling a testing spell and he was judging the ball well. “I felt really comfortable about the way I was playing”. Then came an ingenious 80 not out with the tail on a tricky pitch at Headingley to engineer a seriessaving victory. And a few weeks later a maiden Test hundred against India at Trent Bridge, the ultimate validation. “I hadn’t scored a red-ball hundred for several years [for Lancashire away at Durham in 2014]. There was joy, but a big sense of relief too.” We are all familiar now with Buttler’s sublime skill, his adaptability and of course his destructive power. What is less well known is his perceptive reading of the game. In the fi rst Test in Sri Lanka in November, England, intent on an aggressive mentality, were 103 for 5. Buttler was a few not out at lunch. He spoke up in the dressing room. “We were aggressive and had taken some chances. It was the right way to play on that pitch. But because it was an all-spin attack it all feltvery quick. There were boundaries, wickets, no time to breathe. I just said ‘slow the game down, play it at our tempo. We can occupy the crease and wear them down’.”
He stabilised the innings with Ben Foakes and England eventually totalled 342. In another innings he got England back on track with judicious sweeping and a lot of nimble running. He made telling contributions in all three Tests. His versatility, his talent and his nous are all going to be integral to England’s hopes of winning a first World Cup. He pinpoints what England need to succeed: “We need to be positive, aggressive, and smart. We naturally get the fi rst two all the time. But we do need to react faster to conditions or situations that we haven’t seen before.”Buttler is the man to supervise that process. He knows that. He’s comfortable with it. His unique ability to control an innings is England’s trump card. He has timed the maturing of his batting to perfection. Oh, and his chipping onto the green is more consistent now, too.

#ILTACON19: Post-Mortem Notes, Musings and Observations
Home now from ILTACON, the annual conference of the International Legal Technology Association. It is five frenetic days of seminars, exhibitors and networking by legal technologists and vendors from all over the world. Here are some of my somewhat-random thoughts about the event.
Let’s start with what many were thinking: Orlando in August? I mean, WTF? But, guess what – the weather gods cooperated and kept any significantly stifling heat at bay. The threat of thunder showers was persistent, forcing the opening night reception to move indoors, but even the rain mostly held off.
I heard some griping about the hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin – mostly about the outdated rooms and the walking distances. The Swan and Dolphin are separate hotels connected by an outdoor walkway. It takes no more than five minutes to walk from one to the other, but with programs in each, the back-and-forth-and-back-again trek ensured attendees easily got in their daily 10,000 steps. For those uninclined to walk, golf carts sponsored by Litera and Traveling Coaches provided rides between the buildings.
The Swan and Dolphin resort.
Personally, I liked the hotel as a conference venue. The registration area, exhibit hall, and most meeting rooms were easily accessible. And the main hotel, the Dolphin, had a large lobby bar that served as the always-buzzing center of networking, well into the late evening. Both hotels had a variety of restaurants and fast-food offerings, so pretty much anything one might need to survive the week could be found on premises.
Attendance made it the largest ILTACON ever. Advance, full-week registration was 1,785, and ILTA expected that to meet or surpass 1,800 by final count. Adding in single-day registrations, ILTA said the full attendance would be 1,850. Last year’s total was 1,715. Eight hundred of this year’s attendees were first-timers.
On top of that, there were another 1,700 registrations by “business partners,” a category that includes vendors, members of the press, and others who are not ILTA members. Two-hundred companies had booths in the exhibit hall.
In an effort to make the conference greener, ILTA banned plastic water bottles and provided each registrant with a stainless-steel cup and plenty of places to refill it. As far as I could see, ILTA did not embrace #gagtheswag, as the exhibit hall’s 200 vendors offered plenty of swag to bag.
Speaking of the exhibit hall, for the second year it included a Startup Hub highlighting eight legal tech startups. I was glad to see two companies there that had also participated earlier this year in the Startup Alley I help organize for ABA TECHSHOW – Connective Counsel, whose client-facing app ConnectIVITY I wrote about earlier this week, and DocStyle, which automatically converts PDF files and styles word documents.
Others in the Hub were: AcuityKM, which provides AI-powered tools to enhance applications law firms already use; Canopy, which offers data mining for incident response; Infinnium, which uses AI to help organizations better manage their data; Lunar, which offers sales and marketing technology; MeasuredIn, which offers automated tools for managing M&A transactions; and Scissero, which says its AI technology can review, analyze and draft contracts.
A highlight for me was participating on a panel of legal tech journalists to discuss trends in the industry. If you’ve got 90 minutes to kill, the audio of that panel has been posted by ILTA. The panel was moderated by Gina Passarella, editor-in-chief, ALM Media, and also included Caroline Hill, editor-in-chief, Legal IT Insider; Zach Warren, editor-in-chief, Legaltech News; and Roy Strom, reporter, Bloomberg Law.
At work in the press room, Bloomberg Law reporters Roy Strom and Sam Skolnik.
When the journalists were not prognosticating on stage, they could be found in the press room that ILTA provided. The room was much appreciated, as it gave us a place to meet with company executives for briefings and demonstrations. And the fact that ILTA kept it stocked with snacks made it all the better. But next year, ILTA, give us coffee!
Also on my wish list for next year: A podcast booth. I recorded one interview there for my LawNext podcast, but lacking a quiet place, I was forced to record it in the press room, among a hubbub of background conversations and the decision by hotel staff to at that moment disassemble tables and chairs.
Keynote speaker Josh Linkner.
Apart from that, I regret to say, my schedule was so full of meetings that I made it to only one other session, the opening keynote by author and entrepreneur Josh Linkner, who spoke on harnessing innovation. There should be a special place in heaven for keynoters at large conferences, because it can be a thankless task – except of course for the large speaking fees some of these folks command.
Judging by the twitter stream and people I spoke with, Linkner won over the audience with his entertaining style and engaging stories of innovation across industries, including the crowd-pleasing tale of how a social media hoax about a public book burning saved the public library in Troy, Mich.
But Linkner suffered the fate of so many generic innovation speakers at legal conferences – he never connected the dots to the legal industry (even though his mother and stepfather were both lawyers). Instead, he offered platitudes, such as, “Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it,” and then closed with two “action items,” one of which was to subscribe to his daily email and the other to “discover one fresh idea” every day for a week.
In terms of the technology on display, probably the most talked about company was Reynen Court, which is often described as creating an app store for legal. Its mission is to make it easy for law firms and legal departments to adopt and manage cloud-based software without having to trust firm or client content to the cloud. During the conference, I interviewed founder Andrew Klein for my LawNext podcast, and we will be posting that episode soon.
This reflect the continuing interest in a trend I wrote about in my 2018 wrap-up, The 20 Most Important Legal Technology Developments of 2018, and that is the platformization of legal tech – an extension of the model that made Salesforce so successful, turning itself from an application to a platform. As I noted then, this is a big part of the going-forward strategy for both iManage and NetDocuments, and is behind such recent acquisitions as Thomson Reuters of HighQ and Intapp of OnePlace.
Of course there were over-the-top parties.
For me, perhaps the most memorable aspect of the conference was not a product or an event or an exhibitor. Rather, it was the palpable sense of an organization reinvigorated.
The fact is, it had been a tough three years for ILTA, and the bad news always seemed to drop just as the conference was about to start.
To recount: In 2016, just a month before the conference, ILTA was rocked by news that its long-time executive director Randi Mayes would retire. Then, in 2017, just days before the conference, ILTA reshuffled its top management, replacing several veteran executives. In 2018, it was déjà vu all over again, as ILTA announced – again just days ahead of the conference – that the CEO who had replaced Mayes would be leaving. Dissatisfaction over the 2017 reshuffling led some longtime ILTA members to break off and form an alternative group, the Association of Legal Technologists.
So this conference was the first in three years that did not kick off with last-minute news of executive reshufflings. In fact, quite the opposite occurred. Last October, ILTA brought on Joy Heath Rush, a former Litera vice president, as interim CEO, and then in February, it named her permanent CEO. Rush is widely respected and liked in the industry, and she and ILTA’s leadership have been working hard to restore a sense of spirit and camaraderie that some felt had been diminished or lost.
Joy Heath Rush welcomed attendees to the “family reunion.”
Rather than a staff shake-up, this year’s conference started with an opening session that had Rush on stage, standing in an apron at a barbecue grill and framed by a background screen that depicted a backyard, and enthusiastically greeting the crowd, “Welcome ILTA to our annual family reunion!”
In place of formal opening comments, Rush welcomed a variety of “old friends” to her faux barbecue – such as the VP in charge of ILTACON Dawn Hudgins and conference co-chairs David Hobbie, KM director at Goodwin Procter, and Julie Brown, director of practice technology at Vorys – each coming one by one on stage and offering brief remarks in the form of a conversation at a friendly backyard barbecue.
It was an opening that set the tone for the entire conference. In the end, ILTACON is all about networking. And even with 800 first-time attendees and a total crowd of some 3,500 people, it somehow managed to feel like that family reunion Rush alluded to. For a family that had been through a few squabbles in recent years, it was good to get back to enjoying the barbecue.
