Have mostly gotten over my fear of HVAC and household appliances re: combustion risk (at one point refused to turn the heat on in a polar vortex because I was terrified of a spontaneous conflagration) but the last bastion of this neurosis remains "I can't leave the house with the dryer running because if I leave it will catch fire"
Applying watched-pot-never-boils logic to, well, other heat-related reactions
#I don't have OCD but I recognize her as one's cousin bears a faint family resemblance to your common progenitor#I am a crazy person in the most banal and workaday ways imaginable#No I never use the oven or the gas burner#But that's a problem for another day

Looking back on my career, I think I can safely say, they'll have a hell of a pool to choose from.

a bunch of menswear brands/blogs seem to be trying to turn 'shirting' into a synonym for 'shirts' and it's like. why tho
feels vaguely related to the thing where people love to use 'colorway' when often 'color' would do? like. mildly abstruse sartorial argot is sexy but you really strip all the sexiness out of it when you deploy it sloppily/reductively, imo :/
#tragically for me i really value precision of language—i think carefulness and clarity are really important!#and i think we blunt our tools when we don't reserve them for their intended purposes#like it's not that i think everyone has to know 'shirting' refers to fabric suited/intended for making shirts#but like. why go reaching for a word you don't know how to use‚ you know? you've just muddied the waters for everyone#when a perfectly good workaday word was right there‚ steady and serviceable!#anyway. not ultimately the hill i want 2 die on‚ it's just marketing#but also marketing DOES reflect and shape a zeitgeist?#so‚ you know. just thinking about attentiveness and conscientiousness and patience‚ and what we lose when we don't care about those things…#anyway. yeah this IS the shit that happens in my brain when i go to check my email.#fussy lil poet manqué.e

The mind of the mangaka behind DnA is a curious cauldron. His home team are the bad guys in every battle. Yakushi—one star pitcher uses his skills to try and help his economically struggling teammate/coach. Ugumori—a bunch of childhood friends reconnect after a tragic accident and reforge their bonds by playing together. That school where Yeung was playing—plucky international student fights for recognition in a notoriously xenophobic country. Sankou—they have nothing going for them but Amahisa is just fun (:. Even Inashiro—as tyrannical as they are, they are a bunch of players who formed a team based on mutual respect for each other’s abilities, a marvel of teenage diplomacy. Seidou? Canonically a bunch of assholes. They just suck. They want to win because they hate losing. They don’t even like the plucky underdog on their team, Eijun. The most sympathetic thing about Seidou is Rei’s attempt to make it a team of odds and ends but that is Her big story and motivation. Miyuki joins the team purely out of contrarianism. Chris is there because his dad’s a big shot. They Look Bad. They Are Bad. They’re The Bad Guys. What Even Are We Doing Here.
#sankou had to defeat yakushi in the quarters because you Know that no one would cheer for seidou if yakushi made it#[daiya] makes no goddamn sense. the lack of sense that it makes compels me.#Kelsey liveblogs anime#I thought Daiya was boring and workaday. it is. the boring and workadayness of YowaPeda have just put in perspective how weird#the construction of DnA actually is. it’s so deeply deeply odd. it feels like it was written by an#*an alien or an AI. it doesn’t add up.

Depending on the job, more hours are sometimes required. My job required it and I knew that going in. If these employees' jobs do not require it, and they are, as the CEO says, "Good," then what the CEO should do is appreciate them and stop a) being a dick and expecting them to work outside of their job description, and b) outsourcing perceived management issues to the Intertubez.
Clearly the CEO is a mental and moral weakling, but it's never good to advertise.
