I was finally able to write something for the first time in months since a sudden and devastating death in my family!!! I wrote two things (each about 2 pages long) and I’m so proud of myself!!!! I wanted to share that with someone hskdhdkhf

you know, I don’t have a deliberate voice here, really. I kind of just like playing in the waves of the voices I encounter, flowing with them, tweaking them, seeing them as phenomenon disconnected from identity—I’m not trying on different identities, I’m casually running my hands along the wordstyles that grow so plentifully here before picking a few and crossbreeding them, mixing in some trusty habits and aesthetic tics I’m already comfortable growing.

but what if I did have a deliberate voice? what if I reflected on what style I really enjoyed, as opposed to what style I found easiest or most natural to cultivate and harvest? would I even be interested in that? obviously anything that didn’t feel like me wouldn’t be viable—but if it’s deliberate, can it feel like me? is it necessarily synthetic, forced, distanced somehow from the thoughts that it reflects?

but, well…what I write is already distanced from my thoughts. “tumblr blogging” specifically or in general “internet posting” has somehow always been an alien medium to me. so in what manner would it really be less authentic?

hmm. I think I’ll know one of “my” voices when I see it—but that I still might only find it by deliberate exploration. the question, now, is if I want to.
