Reginald Hargreeves’s Reading Habits
Tumblr media
The Desert of Love - Francois Mauriac (A very telling novel. On the surface, it deals with the love triangle between a father, a son, and the woman they both love. However, on the thematic level, it deals with broader aspects of the human condition: loneliness, dissatisfaction, an inability to connect, miscommunication and silence. You could apply all these themes to the each of the Hargreeves siblings, as well as Reginald himself.)
The Undying Race - René Milan (Maurice Laorrouy) From what I can gather, a rare travelogue circa 1914. I can’t find anything on its deeper plot or themes, though.
The Highest Decibel - Natasha Phillips. This book doesn’t exist. Perhaps a reference to Seven’s early training?
The Swedeen ??? I can’t even read this properly. I don’t think this is a book at all. It may be a reference to production assistants.
A Tramp Abroad - Mark Twain Another travelogue. I feel like the use of travel literature is a reference to Hargreeves’s own character.
A Theory on Quantum Physics and Temporal Displacement - Aleks Woszczyna. This also does not exist. A reference to Five.
Punishment and Reward: Disciplinary Strategies for Children and Animals - ??? Okay wow, very Pavlovian. I don’t think this book actually exists either.
Extraordinary: My Life as Number 7 - Vanya Hargreeves
Driving in my Mother’s Car - ??? Lane. I got nothing.
Higgin’s Methodology - Sylvestre. Didn’t get much here either.
Lunar Living - Arthur Hewett Chalmers Also does not exist. Reference to One, I’ve no doubt.
