UGHHH THIS WAS SO CUTEEEEE 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
WHAT'S THE ANSWER FOR ME + YOU?
although woonhak was deemed the golden boy of your school, he lacked in academics. when he goes to the pretty girl (whom also has a tad bit of a crush on him) in the library for math help, how'd he know you'd be this cute?
PAIRING kim woonhak x fem!reader WC 1.1k TAGS adults dni. so much fluff it hurts. mutual pining. OMI NOTE my sweet boy omg i love writing for him. tbh i wrote this as a distraction for the other woonhak fic i started oops. not proofread sorry for mistakes hehe
november was cloudy, as if the sun was too shy to peek over the soft blankets that covered the sky. despite the dreariness, his spirit was always there. kim woonhak was the golden boy of your academy. the school’s star athlete, good at winning over hearts and games.
though he had far from perfect grades, he was good at getting away with an f every now and then. however this wasn’t the most ideal.
sometimes you sat inside of the library, taking in the smell of new books. you had no practical reason to be there, but the quiet environment was good enough for you. you weren’t used to the popularity scene like he was. and though everything in your heart was telling you to talk to him, you just couldn’t.
that specific day, you settled on the floor with your back against the hard books. notebooks, pencils, and a laptop was sprawled out everywhere, but not so much that people couldn’t walk past you. you had an immense headache from cramming in an assignment last minute. because of this, you hardly noticed the body that was towering over you, until he spoke.
“hey! your name is y/n, right?” his voice was alluring like honey dripping down your throat, and a striped cardigan draped over his messily buttoned shirt and slightly loose tie.
but in that moment you froze. admiring him for so long wasn’t considered as practice for actually talking to him.
“hi, yes! um, am i in your way?” you hurry to scoot away but he hesitantly places a hand on your shoulder to stop you.
“no not at all!” he tells you anxiously. in his mind he was thinking you were much prettier in person.
“then what’s up?” you felt small in comparison to his large figure.
“the counselor sent me over to you actually! she said i’d find you here.” he explained, “i need someone to tutor me.”
“you need a tutor?” you questioned with a confused expression on your face.
“yeah.. they’re going to pull me out of basketball if i don’t get my math grade up. and a little birdie told me you were one of the best.” he grinned at you happily and held his hand out for you to get up.
“oh! well i think i have some time right now. i just finished my assignment so you’re in luck.” you quickly grab your things and shove them into your bag before taking his hand.
the touch of his hand on yours made the both of you blush, swiftly pulling away after you were on your feet. you followed behind him to one of the nearest tables, setting your things down beside you before taking a seat.
“so ahm, what specifically were you needing help with?” you ask, pulling out your math notebook and flipping through the chapters.
“literally everything! like how do you even add exponents with different bases?” he whined next to you, letting his head fall onto the desk.
“no i totally get how that can be tricky!” you laugh, “here i’ll write down an example.”
conversation throughout the rest of the study session flowed smoothly. despite it being your first proper interaction, he knew how to make you smile.
a stupid joke here and then, sometimes a wink, or his hand grazing slightly against yours. what were you even saying?
meeting up became more frequent between the two of you. it came to the point where you met every tuesday and thursday for the remainder of the month. he wasn’t difficult to teach, but there were time’s he’d zone out in the middle of your mini lesson.
you wondered what went on in his mind, but every part of you wanted to hope you were the one he thought about.
“woon! are you even listening to me?” you frown, snapping your fingers infront of the boy.
“yes yes, i’m sorry i’m just a little sidetracked today.” he sighs, scribbling nothings onto his paper.
“we have our math exam next week and you’ve been doing so much better than when we met for the first time. you can’t be lacking on me now!” you pout at him. it was maybe your eighth time studying in the library together.
“you’re just so pretty, it’s distracting.” he says quietly, not exactly loud enough for you to hear.
“what?” you tilt your head a little.
“nothing! it’s nothing i promise.” he leans his head back, groaning, “there’s just this problem i’m really having trouble figuring out.” “what kind of problem, i’m sure we can find a solution to it.” your interest was piqued. why would he get so worked up over a math problem?
“i don’t think i’m ready to ask you yet, i want to try to figure it out on my own first.” he sighs into his hands, barely getting a glimpse of you through the cracks of his fingers.
“you want to figure it out on your own? when’d you get so independent without me?” you fake a sad expression.
“okay okay, i’ll write it down for you then. but close your eyes!” he gives in, ripping off a sticky note from the pad you took out earlier.
covering your eyes, your other senses seem to heighten. you can hear the rough writing of his pencil against the note he stole from your pile of supplies. he hesitates in between what you can only assume are numbers, before you feel him press the paper against your forehead.
“open your eyes now.”
your vision is covered slightly from the note, so you can hardly see him fidgeting with his hands. when you peel it off to read, you’re met with a very mysterious question.
‘what’s the answer for me + you?’
“huh? what does this mean woonhak..?” you squint, re - reading the same words over and over again.
“um..” he laughs nervously, “i just don’t want us to be just friends yknow? i really really like you.”
“woon i–”
“i don’t know i just think i’d be a little heartbroken if i had to see you smile so prettily everyday and not be able to call you my.. girlfriend.” he rambled, “but you don’t have to say anything yet! don’t even worry or anything i know this is kinda sudden and we’ve only been hanging out for so long but–”
you interrupt him with a gentle kiss against his lips. he smiles against yours, placing his hands perfectly against your flush cheeks to pull you closer.
“i really like you too, woonhak.” you let your head fall heavy into his hands after finally pulling away, staring at him blissfully.
“i guess i have my answer then, right?”

k.wh — small girl fantasy
genre: fluff, co-worker to lovers hehe, reader have a BIG FAT crush on unagi (who doesn’t) mutual pining, self-indulged pairing: crush!woonhak x afab!reader wc: 3176 warning: they both have responsibility crisis, both NUMBBB, lmk if i forgot any !! listen: small girl — lee youngji ft. do, binibini — zack tabudlo, take a chance with me — niki, aya — earl agustin
the soft hum of the refrigerator filled the quiet store, the flickering fluorescent lights above casting a dull glow over the aisles. your shift was dragging, and with barely any customers coming in, you found yourself wiping the already spotless counter just to keep your hands busy.
the air smelled faintly of instant ramen and cheap coffee, the scent clinging to your uniform as you absentmindedly ran the rag over the counter for the third time. your thoughts drifted—mostly to woonhak, as they often did during these long, uneventful shifts.
woonhak was at the back of the store, stacking boxes near the stockroom. from where you stood, you could see the way his sleeves were rolled up, exposing his forearms as he effortlessly lifted each box like it weighed nothing. he made it look easy, just like he made everything look easy.
you bit the inside of your cheek, annoyed at yourself for staring. it wasn’t like he was going to notice anyway. he never did.
at first, you tried convincing yourself that he was just quiet, that maybe he was the type of person who kept his distance from coworkers. but that theory crumbled quickly when you watched him chat effortlessly with customers, throwing in the occasional charming smile or polite nod. even when his friends dropped by, he greeted them with a grin, his usual composed expression softening into something warmer.
but with you? nothing.
sure, he said hi when your shifts overlapped. he’d ask you to stock shelves if he was busy handling the register. but that was the extent of it. no small talk. no casual conversations about school or life outside the store. just simple, impersonal exchanges that made you feel more like background noise than an actual person.
it was frustrating, really. and the worst part? you still couldn’t stop thinking about him.
you sighed, leaning against the counter, when a voice suddenly cut through the silence.
“you missed a spot.”
you jolted, your grip on the rag tightening as you turned to see woonhak standing beside you, peering down at the counter with his usual unreadable expression.
you blinked, your brain short-circuiting for a second. “what?”
woonhak pointed to a barely visible smudge near the register, his tone as casual as ever. “right there.”
you quickly wiped over it, heat creeping up your neck. of course, the first real thing he says to you all shift has to be about cleaning. not school, not work, not even some throwaway comment about the weather—just that.
when you looked up again, he was already walking away, disappearing into the stockroom like the moment hadn’t even happened.
you let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, staring after him in disbelief.
was he really that oblivious? or was he doing this on purpose?
either way, it was driving you insane.
the more time you spent working at the store, the more you started noticing the little things about woonhak. not the obvious things—like the way customers always gravitated toward him or how effortlessly he balanced school and work—but the smaller details, the ones you weren’t sure anyone else even paid attention to.
for instance, the way he hummed under his breath when he thought no one was listening. it was always something soft, barely audible over the hum of the refrigerators. sometimes, it was an old song playing faintly through the store’s speakers; other times, it was just a melody with no real pattern. you caught yourself lingering near the aisles whenever it happened, pretending to fix the same row of snacks just to hear it a little longer.
he also had this habit of organizing snacks by color. at first, you thought it was just him being efficient, but then you realized he did it even when it wasn’t necessary. the chips, the candies, even the energy drinks—if he was stocking the shelves, they always ended up arranged in a neat, color-coordinated gradient.
“you know, no one really cares if the ramen cups go from red to yellow,” you teased one evening, watching as he rearranged a row of instant noodles.
woonhak didn’t even look up. “yeah, but it looks better like this.”
you tilted your head, studying his expression. he wasn’t doing it for the customers. he wasn’t even doing it because his dad expected the shelves to look nice. he just liked things a certain way. it was oddly endearing.
but the thing that really got to you? the way he sometimes looked at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention.
it started small. you’d glance up from the register and catch his eyes flickering away too quickly. or you’d be restocking the shelves and feel the weight of his gaze just before he turned back to whatever he was doing. at first, you thought you were imagining it, that maybe you just wanted him to look at you so badly that your mind was playing tricks on you.
but then it kept happening.
like that time you were leaning against the counter during a slow shift, absentmindedly fiddling with a snack wrapper, when you felt it—that unmistakable pull of someone’s stare. you turned your head just in time to see woonhak, standing by the fridge section, looking right at you.
his expression was unreadable, but his eyes held something unfamiliar, something you couldn’t quite name.
the second your eyes met, he looked away, pretending to check the labels on the bottled drinks.
your heartbeat stuttered.
maybe he wasn’t as oblivious as you thought.
—
the storm rolled in without warning. one moment, the sky outside the store was a deep navy, the streetlights flickering lazily against the pavement. the next, rain was hammering against the windows, wind howling through the cracks in the doors. then—darkness.
the hum of the refrigerators cut out, the overhead lights flickered once, then died. the only thing left was the soft, eerie glow of the emergency lights lining the walls.
“great,” you muttered, setting down the inventory clipboard you’d been pretending to work on.
behind the counter, woonhak sighed, pulling his phone out of his pocket. he tapped the screen. “no signal.”
of course. just your luck to be stuck in a blackout, in a convenience store, alone with woonhak.
you shifted awkwardly, glancing at him. “should we, uh… do something? or just wait it out?”
he looked around, eyes scanning the dimly lit store. “well, we can’t close up, and we can’t leave.” he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “guess we’re stuck here for a while.”
with nothing else to do, the two of you sat down on the floor near the counter, backs against the shelves stocked with instant noodles. the emergency lights cast a faint, bluish glow over his face, making his features look softer, almost unreal.
for a while, neither of you spoke. the silence wasn’t exactly uncomfortable, but it was heavy, like something unspoken was lingering between you. then, out of nowhere, woonhak let out a small, breathy chuckle.
“this is kinda weird, huh?” he mused.
you turned to him. “what is?”
“being here like this. we’ve worked together for months, but this is probably the longest we’ve ever talked.”
you blinked, taken aback by his sudden honesty. “yeah. you’ve always been... kind of hard to talk to.”
he raised an eyebrow. “hard to talk to?”
“i mean, you’re quiet. you don’t really say much unless it’s about work,” you admitted, hugging your knees. “honestly, i wasn’t sure if you even liked me.”
woonhak tilted his head slightly, studying you. “i never disliked you,” he said after a pause. “i just… don’t always know what to say.”
you looked at him, waiting, sensing there was more.
he exhaled, leaning his head back against the shelves. “it’s kinda dumb, but… i feel like i don’t have time to just—talk. i’m always thinking about what i should be doing next. school, work, helping my dad. it’s a lot, you know?”
his voice was quieter now, the usual steadiness replaced with something more fragile.
“because you’re the eldest?” you asked softly.
he nodded, a rueful smile tugging at his lips. “yeah. i don’t really have a choice. my dad relies on me, and i don’t want to let him down. sometimes, i think about what i actually want to do, but then i feel guilty, like i’m being selfish.”
for the first time, you saw him not as the woonhak that everyone admired—the perfect son, the dependable coworker—but as a boy who was just… tired.
hesitantly, you said, “i get it. maybe not in the exact same way, but… i understand what it’s like to feel like you have to be something for everyone else.”
he turned to you, intrigued. “yeah?”
you nodded, fiddling with the hem of your sleeve. “i’ve always felt like i had to prove something. like if i don’t push myself hard enough, i’ll just… fade into the background. i guess that’s why i’ve always been so frustrated with you.”
he blinked. “with me?”
you let out a small laugh. “yeah. you make everything look so easy. it’s like you don’t even have to try, and meanwhile, i’m over here struggling to keep up.”
woonhak was quiet for a moment, then—to your surprise—he smiled. not his usual polite smile, but something softer, more real.
“i didn’t know you thought that,” he murmured. “if it makes you feel any better, i think you work harder than anyone else here.”
you felt your face warm, looking away. “you’re just saying that.”
“no,” he said simply. “i’m not.”
the air between you shifted, something settling into place. and for the first time since meeting him, you didn’t feel invisible.
—
the change was subtle at first, but once you noticed it, you couldn’t unsee it.
woonhak was everywhere.
he was always near, always teasing, always finding little excuses to talk to you. he stopped treating you like just another co-worker and started acting like… well, like someone who actually wanted to be around you.
one evening, after an unusually slow shift, you were restocking shelves when you accidentally knocked over a row of neatly stacked chip bags.
“careful,” woonhak drawled from behind you, arms crossed as he leaned against the counter. “you break it, you buy it.”
you huffed, bending down to pick up the fallen bags. “do you ever actually help, or do you just stand there and make fun of me?”
“oh, i definitely just stand here and make fun of you,” he said, grinning.
you rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help the small smile tugging at your lips.
and then there was the way he waited for you after shifts. at first, you thought it was a coincidence—maybe he just happened to finish work at the same time as you. but then it happened again. and again.
“why are you still here?” you asked one night, shoving your hands into your jacket pockets as you locked up the store.
woonhak stretched lazily, as if he hadn’t been waiting outside for you. “it’s dark out.”
“so?”
he gave you a pointed look. “might as well walk together.”
you narrowed your eyes. “but your house is—”
“doesn’t matter.” he started walking ahead, then glanced back at you, raising an eyebrow. “you coming, or what?”
you hated how easily he did this—how effortlessly he inserted himself into your routine, into your life, like he had always been there.
you groaned, but the truth was, you liked it. you liked how he matched his pace with yours, how he walked on the side closest to the street, how he never let the conversation die out even when you weren’t sure what to say.
and then there were the snacks.
at first, it was small. a bag of your favorite chips left near the register, a cold drink placed beside your bag without a word. when you asked about it, he’d just shrug.
“it’s nothing.”
but it wasn’t nothing.
one afternoon, after a particularly long shift, you found a neatly wrapped rice ball waiting for you in the breakroom.
you picked it up, turning it over in your hands. “did you—”
“you haven’t eaten, right?” woonhak interrupted, not looking at you as he busied himself with the stock list.
you blinked. “how did you know?”
“you always forget when you’re working.”
your heart stuttered at his words.
he noticed.
he was noticing you now. really noticing you.
you unwrapped the rice ball slowly, trying to ignore the way your hands felt unsteady. “thanks,” you muttered.
woonhak finally looked at you then, and for once, his usual teasing expression softened into something quieter. “don’t mention it.”
and that was how it was. little moments, little gestures, little things that all added up to something bigger.
you weren’t sure what it was, not yet. but you liked it.
and just as you started to believe that maybe, just maybe, this was turning into something more—
you overheard the conversation.
—
it was late, your shift nearly over, when you heard woonhak’s father speaking in hushed tones near the back of the store.
“it’s a big opportunity, woonhak. you’d be crazy to pass this up.”
you froze, your hand tightening around the stack of receipts you’d been organizing.
“i know,” woonhak replied, his voice lower than usual. hesitant.
you inched closer to the back of the store, staying just out of sight behind one of the shelves.
“then what’s the problem?” his father pressed. “you’ve worked hard for this. this isn’t just about the store—this is about your future.”
there was a pause. a long, heavy silence.
then, woonhak exhaled. “it’s just... sudden.”
“that’s how these things work. you don’t always get time to think. you have to act.” his father’s voice softened slightly. “listen, i know you worry about me, about the store, but i’ll be fine. this is your chance to do something more, something bigger than this place.”
your stomach twisted.
what was he talking about? what opportunity? where would it take him?
and why—why did it feel like something was slipping through your fingers before you even had the chance to hold it?
you heard woonhak sigh, the kind he let out when he was deep in thought, troubled.
“i just need time,” he murmured.
his father didn’t push him further, only replying, “just don’t take too long, son.”
you stood frozen behind the shelves long after the conversation ended, your heart pounding in your ears.
because you already knew.
whatever this was—whatever had been growing between you and woonhak, however slowly, however subtly—it wasn’t going to last.
the next few days felt different. not because anything had changed—woonhak still teased you, still left snacks by the register, still waited for you after your shifts like it was the most natural thing in the world. but now, there was something unspoken hanging in the air between you.
you weren’t sure if he knew you had overheard. part of you wanted to pretend you didn’t, to pretend things were the same. but you weren’t sure how long you could keep up the act when every moment with him suddenly felt like it had an expiration date.
then one night, as the store’s closing time approached, woonhak finally said it.
“can we talk?”
you turned to him, heart pounding. “yeah.”
he hesitated before pulling you outside, the cool night air wrapping around you both. the neon lights from the store’s sign buzzed softly above you, casting a faint glow over his face.
for a moment, he just looked at you, like he was trying to memorize something. then, he sighed.
“you heard, didn’t you?”
you swallowed. “yeah.”
woonhak let out a dry chuckle, looking down at his shoes. “figured. you’re not exactly subtle when you eavesdrop.”
“shut up,” you muttered, but there was no real bite to it.
he exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “it’s a scholarship. a really good one. i’d be studying abroad for a year—maybe longer, if things go well.”
your chest tightened. “that’s… amazing.”
he scoffed. “you don’t sound like you mean that.”
“no, i do.” you forced a smile. “this is everything you’ve worked for, right?”
“yeah,” he said, but his voice was uncertain. he wasn’t looking at you anymore, staring out at the empty street instead. “but… i don’t want to leave you alone.”
you blinked, caught off guard by his honesty.
he turned back to you, his usual teasing expression replaced with something raw, something real. “i mean it. the thought of being somewhere new, somewhere exciting—it should make me happy, right? but all i can think about is how i won’t be here. with you.”
your throat felt tight. because a few months ago, you never would have imagined hearing those words from woonhak. back then, you weren’t even sure he noticed you. and now here he was, standing in front of you, telling you he didn’t want to leave you behind.
but you couldn’t let him stay just for you.
you reached out, poking his forehead lightly. “you’re an idiot.”
he blinked. “what—”
“you have to go, woonhak,” you said softly. “you’d regret it if you didn’t.”
he frowned. “but—”
“but nothing,” you cut him off, smiling a little. “you won’t lose me.”
he stared at you, and for once, he didn’t have a witty comeback.
you took a deep breath. “i’ll wait for you. no matter how long it takes.”
woonhak exhaled, shaking his head with a small, incredulous laugh. “you’re serious?”
“dead serious.” you tilted your head at him. “what, do you not trust me?”
“no, it’s not that,” he muttered. “it’s just… funny. the you from a few months ago didn’t even think i knew you existed, and now you’re out here promising to wait for me.”
you felt your face heat up. “shut up.”
but woonhak was grinning now, his usual self creeping back in. “you’re kind of romantic, you know that?”
“don’t push it.”
he laughed, then—to your surprise—reached out and ruffled your hair. “alright, fine. i’ll go. but only because you said you’d wait for me.”
you swatted his hand away, scowling. “like you weren’t gonna go anyway.”
“nope. i was seriously considering staying.” he gave you a lopsided smile, and something about it made your heart ache. “but i guess i have to make this count now. wouldn’t want to keep you waiting too long.”
you rolled your eyes, but you were smiling.
and when he walked you home that night, he stayed a little longer by your door, hesitating like he had something more to say.
but instead of words, he reached out, carefully intertwining his pinky with yours.
a silent promise.
“wait for me,” he murmured.
you squeezed his hand, grinning. “i already said i would, didn’t i?”
and as woonhak laughed, shaking his head like you were the most ridiculous person in the world, you realized something.
for the first time, you weren’t afraid of losing him. because somehow, in his own way, woonhak was waiting for you too.

cold
bf!woonhak, non idol, mlm, fluff, fluff, and more fluff. It recently snowed here again, so that's why this is coming out NOW. relatively short, btw also pretty ass cuse this is a shit attempt to get out of writers block
me and woonhak sat on the sofa, his head between my legs, my hand playing with his hair as we both scrolled through our phones. school was called off today thanks to a snowstorm and cold weather, so originally, we were both supposed to stay in and be glued to the sofa, but of course, that was not the case.
woonhak has been nagging and begging me to go out for the last 20 minutes as apparently his whole feed was filled with our classmates out in the snow having a blast.
"Come onnnnnnn, y/nnnnn I promise it will be fun!!" he wined sitting up, trying to pull me up with him.
"Okay, let's say agree. what is the plan, then?" I asked, letting him pull me up as I looked at him. My eyebrow raised.
snow was never really something I found joy in it was wet, cold, and dirty. as much as I loved the colder seasons, this was not at all what I enjoyed.
the boy infront smiled, clasping his hands together. "So there is this park very close to us it's not far, max, probably 10 minutes away. I wanna go there."
"Do you even have the clothes for something like this?" I asked sceptical.
he nodded quickly as he got off the sofa going into his room, bringing out a few winter jackets.
"These should also fit you cuse I know you don't have anything appropriate for this weather." he said, throwing me two of the jackets both black so they were the same in my eyes.
I sighed but got up to change and get ready, not being able to say no when he was so eager to go out. it didn't take long as neither of us needed to put much effort into it.
he got ready first, wearing a red hoodie, jeans, and a puffy vest on top, obviously having more layers under. he looked significantly better than me as I stood in front of the mirror half my face covered with the collar of the jacket, hat, scarf, the full nine yards.
he laughed, walking over to me as I was putting my shoes on. "You do know it's not that cold, right??"
I glared at him, and he quickly shut up, putting his own shoes on as I waited. in my mind, he was way too underdressed for this, so I took my hat off and put it on his head instead. he wined standing up
"y/n I spent so long on my hair don't ruin it" he said taking it off.
I put it back on holding my hands on each side of his face. "I don't need you getting sick. Stop complaining"
he pouted, but nonetheless, he didn't complain. we left our dorm locking up and going outside the cold air, instantly hitting. I shivered, stuffing my hands in my pockets as woonhak seemed to be completely fine.
we walked as he talked, kicking the snow under his feet, his face progressively getting reder as we walked. it was obvious he was cold, but he didn't wanna admit it.
we finally reached the sky dark, only light being the street lamps. woonhaks face light up like a child at a candy store as he saw the piles of snow going straight at it.
I stood next to him, watching and giving him commentary when he asked how his little snowmen looked.
"Come on, let's make one together." he said, pulling me down onto the ground. it wasn't pleasant at all, but I wasn't gonna say no now.
I helped him both of us, making a big snowman that ended up being faceless.
surprisingly enough, as much as I originally thought I hated activities like this, he made everything so much more fun and enjoyable as we laughed and giggled, even ending up having a snowball fight on our way back.
the walk back was quiet, one of his hands in my jacket pocket as we held hands both of us freezing our asses off.
"so...are you glad you agreed??" woonhak asked glancing at me from the side.
"Yes, I'm glad I agreed. just don't get sick tomorrow, okay?" I said, looking back at him and giving his cold cheek a short, small kiss.

"When I see you, I feel like I'm out of breath, I don't usually act like this, gathering all the nice words I want to give you, but when I'm in front of you I always run out of words" (예쁘다) SEVENTEEN
nt. soo, this is the first fic i'm posting here. i was actually just thinking about reading, but while i was watching a translation of pretty u, this idea came to my head with woon and i NEEDED to write it down and publish it. hope you like it! btw english isn't my first language, so there may be some grammatical errors... i tried my best, guys. i accept feedback!
It was finally the day. The day when the coolest Kim Woonhak would ask out his biggest and only crush, one of his best friends and the prettiest girl in the world according to his own words, you.
He had been preparing all night for this moment, they say that "nothing ventured, nothing gained" and Woonhak will confirm it, even if fear ate him up completely.
According to Woonhak, you're the love of his life. He had never experienced the same feelings he felt when he met you and when he's with you, although it's true that he had liked some girls in the past, this time wasn't the same. The first time you two met was the most cliche thing in the world, leaving him completely captivated, just like love at first sight.
Remembering the past, Woonhak wasn't in a good moment, suddenly his whole environment had changed to pursue his dream, and you were like his salvation, his light at the end of the tunnel, falling madly in love with your smile and your cute big-doe eyes, reaching out to him at his worst and most unexpected moment.
That's why, after almost a year of friendship, he finally decided it was time to ask you out, something simple, but he already had a whole future in mind if everything went well...
༘ . ⋆
Nothing went well, he didn't even had the chance to ask you out.
To start with, when he woke up he didn't hear his alarm, arriving late to school. He hadn't even been able to take a shower and he barely managed to brush his teeth and have breakfast moments before arriving at school, mentally cursing having slept late nigth because of his nerves. Second, the teacher punished him outside the classroom for being late, and his friends making fun of him didn't help at all. And third, he didn't even had the chance to approach to you. But despite everything, Woonhak didn't gave up and decided to wait until the next day.
༘ . ⋆
Why weren't words coming out of his mouth? He was finally in front of you, in the perfect place, there was no one around and you were under a tree in the school yard. So why didn't he talk? His hands were sweating and his heart was beating like crazy, keeping his gaze fixed on your beautiful curious eyes, that looked at him with interest.
"I-I… y/n… w-would you like…" he stammered nervously, with a big lump in his throat, wiping the palms of his hands on the sides of his uniform pants, feeling his throat slowly dry out 'I should have drank a glass of water…' cursing mentally.
"Are you okay Woonhak?" you asked amused.
But damn, he wasn't okay, he was too nervous, his words were stuck on the tip of his tongue. Licking his lips he barely answered "oh, yeah! don't worry, I just…" scratching the back of his neck nervously.
'Please, I never ask for anything, I'll promise to believe in youㅠ' and said and done, the school bell rang, announcing the end of classes and finally breaking the awkward moment for him.
༘ . ⋆
"…and then she had to leave" Woonhak finished telling, letting out a frustrated groan, burying his face in his hands with great embarrassment, listening his friends laughing at the background, mocking him "affectionately"
"Gosh, Woonhak, you really don't know anything" wiping away his tears from laughter, Jaehyun leaned playfully on his shoulder "Our baby is growing up!" and with some embarrassment, Woonhak tried to get away from them with a pout on his face, before being pulled back onto the table.
"Ah, Woonhak, we'll help you, don't worry" of course he should be worried, and he accepted with some distrust, not wanting to notice the mischievous smiles of his friends.
༘ . ⋆
'Dating class' was the first thing Woonhak noticed when he entered his shared dorm and approached the living room, noticing a small blackboard resting on an easel and his friends around it, with glasses and notebooks in their hands, looking at it attentively and sitting him on an armchair, sitting around him while Jaehyun was still standing next to the blackboard, before clearing his throat.
"Okay Woonhak, today we'll teach you everything you need to know and do before and after a date" noticing how the rest nodded in unison "pay attention Woonhak!"
Should he be worried or happy…?
"I can't take it anymore, I have a lot to say, I can't take it anymore, I'd rather tell you in a letter"
It had been a few days since everything started, he didn't even remember the exact number of days, and still nothing went as planned, it seemed like fate was against him. When he was finally about to ask you out something unexpected always happened, and Woonhak was nothing but worried, he just had to say "Do you want to go on a date with me?" It wasn't even complicated, but he didn't had the courage to do it. Woonhak felt like his nerves were slowly eating away at him and for some reason he couldn't stop thinking if this was the right thing to do or not, like, what if he breaks your friendship because of his stupid feelings?
He had already done everything, he filled an entire notebook with nice and romantic words and phrases, he followed his friends' advices, he drank glasses of water every morning to avoid the lump in his throat, he practiced in front of the mirror, he even dressed up and made a fool of himself in front of you, and all the flowers in the small garden outside his apartment had disappeared, maybe he counted too many petals?
And finally, he began to slowly get fed up, even if he continually promised that the next time would be the charm, he couldn't stop thinking if he should just confess his feelings, even though the fear continued to eat away at his head. Maybe he's not even the right person for you, would confessing really be the right thing to do? Maybe he should look for one last flower.
And so the day had come, this time he wouldn't ask you for a simple date, this time Woonhak planned to confess his feelings to you, the person who completely stole his breath.
Where after thinking and reflecting a lot, he decided to be completely sincere and do it his way. Although it seemed cliche for others, for Woonhak it was simply perfect. If he wasn't able to talk to her face to face, what better than a love letter that spoke for him?
It had been approximately three and a half days, 11 romantic movies, three playlists of 3 hours each, approximately 29 sketches of letters with the most cheesy phrases, searches in the dictionary and finally he had finished writing the letter, delicately wrapped in an envelope.
He was standing face to face with you and with his arms outstretched, with the letter in one hand and in the other a small teddy bear. Giving you his heart completely. Where after a big breath and closing his eyes tightly, he finally let go of all his feelings, remembering the many tips and thousands of practices with himself, releasing from time to time light nervous breaths and some cute stutters.
And when he finished, he felt your soft and warm lips on his cheek, slowly opening his eyes, he lost his gaze in your deep and warm eyes in front of him, noticing the big and cute smile plastered on your face. And as the soft breeze enveloped both of you, attracted by each other, your lips finally met softly, fitting perfectly, just like a puzzle.
"You´re pretty"

HAIR TIE AGENDA — k.wh
albeit the lines of your friendship were quite blurred, it still confused you as to why woonhak was suddenly adamant on having your hair tie on his wrist at all times. given, you know, that it would be basically telling the world that the two of you were dating.
GENRE— fluff, highschool au, friends to lovers
WARNINGS— lots of touching, jealousy, mutual pining but they are both oblivious idiots, cursing, toxicity (they are huge haters imo), kissing, slight making out (?), let me know if I missed any!
WORDCOUNT— 6.4k
NOTE— fluff is my biggest enemy, so this was quite the challenge for me. enha ver posted here!
YOU AND WOONHAK WERE CLOSE. Too close, according to the rest of your friends.
You both had been best friends since kindergarten, the story of your meeting never failing to tear a chuckle out of anyone who heard it.
You were three years old, having arrived at kindergarten a few minutes ago. You were scared to go and talk to the other kids — what if they were mean? What if they laughed at your pretty bows? What if they didn't want to play with you?
You sat in one corner, away from the other kids, playing with a small doll. Amidst your playing, you saw little feet approach you. You looked up, noticing a boy of your age. He stared right back at you, before pointing at you. “You are going to be my best friend!”
The boy had later introduced himself to be Woonhak, and you both had truly become best friends. The two of you were together through thick and thin, never leaving each other's side. There were no secrets between the two of you, the thought itself incredulous. You both were best friends, why on earth would you both hide something from each other?
Your bond was unbreakable, something that left many writhing in envy. How come you both were so close, never able to leave each other's side?
With a good bond, comes judgement. Judgement by others, assumptions about your true relationship.
While you both were close, not everyone knew that you both were best friends, right? To any stranger, you both were the embodiment of 'siblings, or dating?'.
While you both bickered and were playful enough to be termed as siblings, the way you both acted with each other, often left people confused.
See, your love language was physical touch, while his was acts of service. After spending so much time with each other for all these years, you both were bound to rub off on each other, weren't you?
His hand was almost always on your waist, or your shoulders — didn't matter where you guys were, or what you were doing — it was always there. If somehow he forgot to put his hand around you, you would loop your arm around his, or intertwine your hands. It was cute, definitely very cute, but — the extreme couple energy that you both excluded was insane.
It didn't help that you were often touching him, skinship being basically your second nature. You were always fixing his hair, his clothes, touching him while you were speaking to him, while you were laughing with him — how could you both expect anyone to believe that you weren't dating each other?
Not only that, both of you would often be seen giving each other random gifts, without it being a special occasion. You were often seen giving Woonhak a chocolate at a random time of the day, while he was often delivering milk to you. If anyone asked, he always had the same excuse: “She doesn't drink enough water, she needs to stay hydrated”, while you always said “he likes chocolates, is it so wrong of me to give chocolates to a friend?” Needless to say, they always backed off after that.
It was only after a certain set of incidents that everyone finally had something to confirm that yes, you both were indeed more than friends.
IT WAS A QUARTER PAST SEVEN IN THE MORNING, fifteen minutes left for the start of the first period. You and Woonhak had arrived at school just five minutes ago, with his hand around your waist as usual. The two of you were giggling at some tea you were spilling regarding a relationship between a senior and a sophmore, since you were physically incapable of keeping things from him. Just as you were getting to the good part of the gossip, one of Woonhak’s friends from the football team ran up to the two of you. Jaehyun.
“Hey lovebirds!” Jaehyun cheerily waved to the both of you, his tone teasing. You simply rolled your eyes with a smile, having gotten used to the antics of his friends. “Woonhak, dude, I'm gonna need a favour — one of our frontiers is absent, and none of the subs are available. Please help us out for today's match — I promise I'll make it up to you, even if we don't win. You will even have a customized jersey for the match, which you can keep with yourself permanently–!”
Woonhak hesitated, his grip on your waist tightening slightly. “I don't know, I was planning on leaving early with ___ today, to get ice cream and all…”
You immediately pinched his hand that was around your waist. “He means yes, we can always reschedule the hangout.”
Jaehyun's eyes lit up. “Really?! Thank you so much, you have no idea how desperately we needed another player — I'll go tell the others now, you can come and practice with us during recess!”
Just before he could leave, you halted him, getting out of Woonhak's grasp. “Jaehyun, wait–”
He stopped on the spot, looking at you with a confused gaze. “Something wrong?”
You stepped forward, brushing some hair out of his face gently, smoothing the slightly messy hair on top of head. You took a step back. “There you go, the mess was bothering me.”
He blinked, a faint red coating his cheeks and creeping up his neck. He was well aware of your touchy nature, but this was the first time he was on the receiving end of it, hence his flustered state. “O-Oh, thanks — I- I'll go now–”
He quickly turned on his heel and left, a light jog evident in his retreating figure. You turned back towards Woonhak, a smile on your face. “Let's go to class, or else we might be late.”
He nodded, his arm looping around your waist once more, guiding you around the busy halls, to class. You couldn't help but notice the slightly tighter grip he had on your waist, or the way his expression was different than his usual when you turned back towards him.
CLASS WAS BORING AS USUAL. The two of you sat at the back of class, messing around as usual instead of studying. Yet, there was something amiss.
Usually, Woonhak was a lot more playful, a lot more relaxed and free around you. Currently however, there seemed to be an air of hesitation, reluctance around him. His smile didn't exactly reach his eyes, his laughter feeling forced.
‘Maybe he just isn't feeling it today?’ was what you thought, so you didn't bother asking. You knew if something was seriously bothering him, he would have told you already.
Before long, the bell rang, signifying recess. You quickly held Woonhak's hand, pulling him out of his seat, and racing into the hall. You both had already eaten in class, — how you both never get caught, is a mystery you're both yet to solve — so he would have the entire recess to practice with the rest of the football team for the match that was going to take place later on.
You both quickly navigate your way to the football ground, spotting Jaehyun and the rest of the team doing lazy stretches to warm up first. He spotted the two of you quickly enough, waving and rushing over to where you both were standing.
“Hey,” he began, a grin adorning his face. “I'm so glad you didn't change your mind — ___, you can sit on the benches and watch if you'd like, I'm sure the others won't mind! Also, coach got the customized jersey done already — no idea how he got it done so quickly — it's there in the locker rooms, so you can change into that right now if you'd like!”
You admired his ability to yap continually without stopping, making you smile a little. You nodded in his direction, nudging Woonhak to go and change already, before quickly walking over to the benches and taking a seat.
Soon enough, Woonhak was back, adorning the jersey, making your jaw drop. You couldn't take your eyes off him — you had never seen him in attire similar to that before, but damn, he sure did look amazing.
Your face flushed slightly, as you quickly tried to snap out of these thoughts. Nope, that's your best friend, you're not going to think of him in that sense.
You watched as they all played, Woonhak surprisingly being able to keep pace with them. You never watched him play before, the sight drawing you in like a moth to a flame. His concentration was — were you blushing?!
God, what was wrong with you? Had you been single for so long that the sight of your best friend simply practicing in the field had you all giddy?
The rest of the recess went on smoothly, with you trying not to concentrate on Woonhak too much, lest someone caught you with your cheeks on fire. God, you really needed to get yourself together.
Once practice was over, Woonhak quickly went to you, his usual smile back on face. You handed him a bottle of water, quickly wiping his sweat off him. He started babbling while you were doing so. “Did you see that? I did pretty good back there, right? Jaehyun said that he was confident we would win the match today, and said I was better than the guy I'm subbing for! Isn't that great?”
You let out a hum, finishing wiping off his sweat. “Yea, you were amazing. C'mon now, we need to run, or else we will be late for history — you know how ma'am gets when someone is even two seconds late.”
He nodded, seemingly satisfied with your answer. He didn't need to know that you weren't exactly watching much of what he was doing, or that you were only watching him.
AS SOON AS THE BELL FOR THE LAST PERIOD RANG, nearly the whole school raced to the grounds. All the players, including Woonhak, ran to the locker rooms to change, whereas the rest of the students quickly found the best seats possible.
You sat at the very front, a bottle of water and a towel already in your hands. You were a little tense for the match, since the opponent team seemed to be extremely well prepared. Still, you tried to not let your mind wander, focusing on Woonhak, as he came out of the locker rooms, into the field.
The match started. The opposing team was putting up a good defense, but Woonhak’s team was able to keep up. It was hard to watch, the many nearly-goals and nearly-fouls heightening your nerves. You tried to not let them get to your head, focusing instead on cheering for Woonhak.
Half time arrived soon enough, with both the teams having scored one goal each. Woonhak came straight to you, quickly taking the bottle from your hand, gulping it all down. He gave you a sheepish grin. “Sorry, I'm really nervous for the match. The opposing team is… starting to get angry. I don't think they expected us to keep up, so they were a little dumbfounded. But now they are simply pissed — they aren't exactly known for being the fairest when it comes to playing football, and winning.”
You bit your lip, wiping off his sweat with the towel. “But they can't use unfair means to win, can they? They will get a foul…”
Your words died down on your tongue once you noticed his grim expression. “If they somehow injured one of us, leaving us incapable of playing, what is one red card going to do? They have subs available, we don't. If one of us is out, the match would already be lost.”
You didn't know what to say in order to encourage or comfort him. You knew that the reputation of their opponents wasn't the best, but there was nothing anyone could do, other than to stay safe and try their best. So that's what you told him.
He gave you an amused smile. A teasing glint appeared in his eyes.“You sound worried. Are you scared that they might hurt me?”
You scowled at him. “This isn't a joke! They could actually injure you, can't you just give me your word that you will at least try to stay safe?”
He let out a small snicker, before giving you a mock salute. “Of course ma'am. Just do me a favour, will you?”
You tilted your head to the side. A favour? Now? You decided not to question it. “Sure I can. But it depends on what it is.”
He grinned at you, before pulling his jersey off him, revealing a plain white t-shirt underneath. That explained why he was sweating more than the others. Who even wears two layers to a football match?
He shoved it in your chest. “Wear it, and cheer for me.”
You gave him an incredulous look. “No way! It's literally drenched in your sweat.”
He pouted, giving you a pleading look. “Please? For me? It's only for an hour and a half, can't you do it? I'll feel a lot more motivated then. C'mon, just do it, please–”
You groaned at his incessant begging. “Fine! I'll wear it — just… ugh, help me out with it–”
The grin on his face grew, as he quickly helped slide the jersey onto you. He proudly made you twirl for him, with you hiding your face in your hands from the utter embarrassment of it — but complying nonetheless. Unbeknownst to you, a smug smirk adorned his face, as he locked eyes with Jaehyun in the process, who quickly looked away, his ears turning red at having been caught looking.
The whistle sounded again, signifying the start of the second half. Woonhak quickly left, the hurried ‘good luck!’ that you threw at him bringing a smile to his face.
You watched as he advanced into the field with renowned vigour, the determined expression on his face soothing your nerves slightly. You made sure to cheer for him even louder than before, the grin that he threw your way making it worth the looks that were shot in your direction.
But the opposing team did not relent. Eager to match Woonhak's newfound enthusiasm, they changed their strategies. The brutality in every move that they made caused your anxiety to spike.
Woonhak's team, however, didn't let it deter them. Everyone was determined to win, to not succumb to the team that always tries to get their way through unfair means.
Speaking of unfair means, the attempts at making foul moves increased ten-fold. Many of the players in Woonhak's team were almost injured, but somehow they managed to avoid it at the last second. Why the referee wasn't giving any yellow cards, was beyond your imagination.
The clock was ticking down. Not a single goal had been made. The audience was starting to lose hope, the enthusiasm in their cheers starting to fade. You made sure to continue screaming, cheering them on as best as you could. In the midst of it all, Woonhak glanced at you. Upon seeing the expression on your face, he made it his personal mission to win. He had to, for you. He wasn't going to disappoint you, he swore to himself.
With a determined look, he surged forward, trying to get to the ball. Jaehyun had the ball, and he locked eyes with him. Upon noticing the younger’s determined expression, he managed to pass the ball to him.
Woonhak caught the ball without any interceptions, quickly racing towards the goal. He skillfully avoided all the attempts to tackle him, running as fast as possible to the goal. The goalkeeper froze, upon noticing the expression on his face.
Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, he struck. With a sudden burst of strength, he kicked the ball, watching as it flew into the goalpost, the goalkeeper just narrowly missing it.
The sudden uproar that erupted was deafening to say the least. His teammates were hugging and whooping, patting him on the back. The exhilarating feeling that came from the win, made him feel lighter, as if he was on cloud nine.
His eyes searched for you, noticing you trying to get past the huge crowd towards him. He quickly navigated his way out of the crowd, making his way towards you. As soon as he was in front of you, he wrapped his arms around your waist, making you squeal, as he picked you up and spun you in the air. His grin was wide, your own grin almost as wide as his. “We won! We actually fucking won! Did you see my last goal? I looked cool right? I still can't believe I actually made the goal–”
In the midst of his yapping, one of your friends was wiping his sweat off for him. While you tried to not let it show, you couldn't help the jealousy that flared inside you at the intimate gesture. You were supposed to do it for him, not her. Woonhak didn't even seem to notice, too focused on telling you the details — as if you didn't witness it all by yourself.
Unable to bear the sight of her wiping off his sweat with a random towel, you grabbed his hand, pulling him away. You both set into a sprint, away from the people congratulating him.
As soon as you reached a somewhat secluded region of the school, you turned to him, your arms crossed over your chest. But before you could speak, he spoke first, his breathing coming in short pants. “Goddamn woman, I just won a match, you're already making me run again? Cut me some slack, will you?”
You rolled your eyes, ignoring his outburst. “Why did you let her do it?”
He looked at you, confused. “Huh? Let who do what…?”
You gave him an incredulous look. “Her. You let her wipe off your sweat for you — don't tell me that you didn't notice it at all?!”
He still looked confused. “Huh? Someone did that? I didn't even realise — I was talking to you, so I was distracted, I guess. But why does it matter?”
You gave him a pointed look, frustration evident in your eyes. Why wasn't he getting it?! “‘Why does it matter?’ Because I'm your best friend! I always do it for you, so why would you let her do it as well? If I'm your best friend, then shouldn't I get treated as such? Shouldn't I be treated differently from the rest of our friends? Why are you letting her do something that only I do to you?”
His eyes widened, before he frowned. “I didn't even notice her doing it… but if I should treat you differently from the rest of our friends, shouldn't you do the same to me as well? Why should this be a one-sided arrangement?”
Now it was your time to frown. “One-sided? How is this one-sided?! I always treat you differently, how have I ever treated you similar to the rest of our friends?”
He rolled his eyes. “Oh, I don't know, maybe yesterday? When you fixed Jaehyun's hair for him? Since when did you start fixing people's hair other than mine?”
You were at a loss for words. You simply opened and closed your mouth several times, like a fish out of water.
Woonhak spoke again. “How about this: I pay more attention to my surroundings, while you keep your hands to yourself? Don't go around touching other people's hair, that should be reserved for me only. Do we have a deal?”
You bit the inside of your cheek. “Fine. We have a deal.”
You usually didn't back down from fights that easily. But everything seemed to be different when it involved Woonhak.
TRUE TO YOUR DEAL, the two of you didn't treat others even remotely similar to how you treated each other anymore. Both of you grew much closer than before. People could easily pick up on the change in the air around the two of you, the shippers going slightly insane. When were the two of you going to announce your relationship officially?
Neither of you paid much attention to those silly rumours, always dismissing the teasing. Friends were allowed to be possessive of each other, were they not? Was it a crime to want some things to be just between you guys, and not for everyone else to know and judge?
Days went by the same, the teasing never stopped. But it was always there from the very beginning of your friendship, not just from classmates, but outsiders and family members as well. Both of you had grown used to it.
Recently, both you and Woonhak had noticed the trend of wearing hair ties on wrists. While it wasn't an uncommon sight for girls, it certainly was for boys. What do they need a hair tie for, when their hair is so short?
It was quickly discovered that the hair ties were actually of their girlfriends’, them wearing it on their wrists being a sign of commitment — and the general fact that they had a girlfriend.
Of course, it flared jealousy among those who weren't in a relationship — including you and Woonhak. Both of you glared in resentment at anyone who had a hair tie on their wrist, always greeting them with a bitchy eye roll. Both of you, like every other single person, loved to hate on couples, betting on when they would break up, if they were cheating on their partner, and whatnot. You both were always met with the same responses: ‘Just wait till you get into a relationship.’
Your responses were the same too. The same eye roll, paired with a pissed off comment, either mocking them, or talking about how neither of you would ever bother with dating anyone. Everytime, you both were met with an exchange of amused glances. Neither of you ever understood that they meant when you both would get together.
It started to get unbearable after a while, with almost everyone wearing a hair tie on their wrist. It was frankly starting to annoy Woonhak a lot, to the point that he snapped at his friends, which was uncharacteristic of him. It was only then that the guys gave him the obvious solution: to wear a hair tie as well.
Wearing a hair tie on his wrist was easier said than done. For Christ’s sake, he didn't have a girlfriend! Why would he wear a hair tie on his wrist, when he didn't have someone's to wear?
But then a crazy thought struck him. He may not have a girlfriend, but he definitely had a girl best friend. You. He could wear your hair tie on his wrist, right?
Turns out, you didn't share the same views as him.
“ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOT. Where did you even get this crazy idea from?!”
Woonhak bit his lip, rubbing his nape sheepishly. “Well — the guys keep teasing me, so I got desperate, and… uhm…”
You pinched the bridge of your nose, closing your eyes, and sighing. “Woonhak, you're aware that only couples wear hair ties on their wrists, right? We,” You gestured between the two of you. “are not a couple. You wearing my hair tie on your wrist would be indicating that I'm your girlfriend. Which I'm clearly not. Let's not give everyone another incentive to tease us, yea?”
He let out a groan. “Oh, c’mon, who cares what others think? We can just — make an excuse — tell them that I'm wearing it because you keep losing your hair ties, so I'm basically your hair tie holder. How does that sound?”
You gave him an incredulous look. “No one will ever buy that shitty excuse.”
He scowled at you. “Oh, like you could come up with something better.”
You nodded enthusiastically, although it was completely sarcastic. “Of course I can! We forget this conversation! Because we both know what the hair tie would indicate. Not just to others, but between us too.”
He shook his head stubbornly. “I don't care. I'm going to wear one.”
You rolled your eyes. But before you could open your mouth to retort, Woonhak grabbed the hair tie that you used to meticulously tie your hair into a ponytail and pulled.
You watched in shock, as your hair came undone, your hair tie now in his hand. With a smug smirk, he wore it on his wrist, showing it to you proudly, before going off to his class. “Bye ___! See you after this period!”
Oh, he was definitely going to see you. Maybe two of you or even more, depending on how hard you punch him.
JUST AS EXPECTED, you both were on the receiving end of everyone’s teasing, becoming the new hot topic of your school. No matter how much you both tried to ignore it, it just didn’t work.
Questions about whether you both were secretly dating or not followed you both left and right, comments assuming the status of your relationship were thrown about casually — it was simply too much. None of your friends believed you either, their cheeky smiles and teasing comments following you both everywhere.
All because of Woonhak’s obsession with wanting to wear your hair tie.
At some point you both got sick of trying to clear up the accusations, just letting people think what they wanted to. After all, their assumptions and comments weren’t going to magically come true, just because they think a certain way.
Right?
THE TEASING HAD GOTTEN TO A POINT WHERE NEITHER OF YOU COULD STAND IT ANYMORE, causing you both to avoid people as much as possible. Did no one understand the concept of personal space anymore? Or did they forget that minding their own damn business would always be more fruitful than trying to gather tea about other people’s love lives, or lack thereof?
Most of the time, you both hung out in the library or rooftop, sometimes even resorting to taking refuge in the janitor’s closet, that’s how much you both were affected by the constant teasing. How come everyone was so damn invested in the love life of you both, when it didn’t even concern them in the slightest?
Today was no different. From the morning, all you both could hear were comments like ‘So when are you guys planning on making it official?’, ‘When will you both drop the bomb?’, ‘Don’t bother lying, it’s too obvious that you both are super into each other.’, etc., etc. Your fist was clenched tightly by your side, Woonhak’s grip on your waist also tighter than usual. The urge to punch them in the faces was extremely high. When were they going to get bored of teasing you both?
In order to escape them, Woohak steered you through the crowd, escaping into the stairway. The two of you quickly climbed up the stairs, going to the rooftop. You pushed the door to the terrace open, the cold wind whipping in your faces. Woonhak slammed the door shut behind him using his foot, his hand never leaving your waist.
You went towards the railing, leaning on top of it. Woonhak finally let go of your waist, leaning on the railing beside you. Neither of you spoke, simply enjoying the feeling of the cool breeze, and the majestic view of the cityscape beneath. The cars and people looked quite tiny from up there, like ants, which was to be expected, given that your school building was eight stories tall.
Suddenly, Woonhak cleared his throat. He spoke up, his voice low, eyes facing his front. “Do the rumours and the constant teasing bother you too much?”
You snapped your head towards him, your eyebrows furrowed in surprise. “Where is this coming from?”
He looked at you. “You know, the constant questions and comments that are thrown in our way? It just — it got me thinking: ‘What if it all bothered you too much? What if our friendship isn’t worth all the comments and excessive teasing we face?’ Just stuff like that.”
Your eyes widened in shock. “Oh my god — don’t you ever think like that, you hear me? Just because some people like to be annoying and poke their big ass nose in our goddamn business, doesn’t mean our friendship isn’t worth the trouble. Do you really care about other people’s opinions enough to end our friendship? Just like that?”
He quickly shook his head. “No no no, absolutely not — I just thought… actually, nevermind. I thought the rumours were making you uncomfortable, I’m glad I was wrong.”
A hint of a smile crept up your face, as you looked in front of you again. “A few silly comments can never make me break my friendship with you. You’re my best friend, aren’t you? Best friends are supposed to stick together, no matter what. Through thick and thin, all of our ups and downs Woonhak.”
He looked in front of him again, letting out a scoff, which was supposed to be an amused one, but it came out more bitter than intended. “Yea, best friends… that’s all we'll ever be…”
The last part was quiet, but you still heard it. The tips of your ears burned, a flush creeping up your neck. You quickly tried to change the subject. “L-Let’s try something.”
He furrowed his brows, looking at you again. “Try what?”
You bit your lip, quickly trying to think of something. “Uhm — let’s climb the railing and sit on it! Sounds fun, right?”
He raised a brow. “Absolutely not. That’s the stupidest, and most dangerous idea you’ve ever had, and that’s saying something.”
You pouted. “Come on, it’s not that bad — the railings are sturdy, we won’t fall.”
Woonhak firmly shook his head. “Nope. You want to climb it? Be my guest. But don’t tell me I didn’t warn you when you fall off and possibly break your leg. Or an arm. Or crack open your skull. Either way, I will say ‘I told you so’.”
You rolled your eyes, beginning to climb it up. “Oh shut up — I’m sure you would love to goad about it, if I fell off. You revel in my misery after all, don’t you–?”
You got cut off by a yelp of your own, your hand slipping. Woonhak immediately came to your rescue, pulling you off the railing. In complete and utter fear of the sudden momentary lapse of judgement that almost caused you to fall off the roof, you turned around, hugging him tightly.
He held you close, wrapping his own arms around your waist. He could feel your heart beating erratically in your chest, matching his own. He couldn’t believe how stupid and unaware of your surroundings you were.
He glared down at how you buried your head in his chest, in disbelief of your previous actions. You were shaking slightly in his hands, but he didn’t care. “Are you fucking insane?! You knew that was dangerous, why on earth would you still try to climb the damned railings? For the love of god, you could have fallen off and died!”
You meekly raised your head, preparing to retort, before freezing. He was so, so close. You could make out every single detail on his face, every freckle, every pore, every single blemish. Yet, he was so… mesmerizing.
Woonhak’s heart skipped a beat as he looked down at you. His voice took a softer edge, a gentle note evident in it. “Promise me that you will never…”
Too lost in his eyes, you didn’t hear him. His voice and every other noise faded to the background, your sole focus being on his eyes. They were pulling you in, drowning you in them. Like a siren luring an unsuspecting victim.
Your lips parted slightly, as you kept staring at him, his warm breath fanning your face. He swallowed hard, realizing exactly how close you were. The adrenaline pumping in his veins was fucking with his head, thoughts of what your lips would feel like against his filling his mind. His eyes flickered down to your parted lips, the urge growing, before they quickly darted back up to your eyes, meeting your gaze once again. “Promise me.”
The words seemed to be stuck in your throat, which suddenly felt parched. “I…”
His breath hitched, eyes fixed on your parted lips once again. His heart was still racing, the world seeming to narrow down to just the two of you, standing flush together on the roof. “You…” He whispered, leaning just a fraction closer without realizing it. “You what?” It came out softer than intended, just a barely audible murmur.
You swiped your tongue over your bottom lip, wetting it with your saliva. The words tumbled out of your mouth, without you even realizing it. “God, you’re so pretty…”
Woonhak’s world seemed to stop, his mind going blank. His grip on your waist tightened slightly. “What did you say?” He whisper-hissed, leaning just a tad bit closer. His gaze flickered down to your lips again. The shift in the atmosphere around the two of you was becoming impossible to ignore, becoming electric with unsaid words and unacted-upon impulses.
You blinked, biting down on your lip. There was no going back now. “You’re pretty…”
His heart skipped a beat, then another, then another. He could barely believe what he was hearing — no one had ever called him ‘pretty’ before. Sure, he had heard other words: handsome, attractive, stunning, eye-catching — but ‘pretty’? Never did he hear that one before. But damn, he would be lying if he said it didn’t make his heart race — probably more than the other praises ever did. It was a word typically reserved for women, but hearing it from you directed towards him? It made his brain short-circuit.
He asked you again, just to confirm. “Pretty?”
You nodded, no longer scared of his reaction. “Very much so.”
He felt his cheeks flush again at the unusual comment. He was blushing, and he never blushed. But everything seemed to be different when he was around you.
His mind was reeling, as he tried to process this new information. You, his best friend, thought he was pretty. He leaned even closer, his lips just a hair breath away from yours now. “You really think I’m pretty?” He whispered, his voice just barely audible.
You gulped, nodding. “Yea — yea, I do.”
His heart started pounding rapidly in his chest, his breathing shallow. He could feel the heat radiating off your body, the closeness of your lips, the way you were looking up at him. It was starting to all fade out into white noise, the sound of his rapidly beating heart in his ears. His eyes zeroed in on your parted lips, and something in him snapped.
Throwing all rational thought out of the window, he closed the barely there gap between your both, softly pressing his lips to yours. Your lips were as soft as a cloud, feeling pillowy against his. The kiss was brief, barely more than a whisper. It was nothing more than a peck, but it was enough to make his heart jump out of his chest, into his throat. When he pulled back, his eyes were as wide as saucers, surprised by his own boldness. “I–”
You didn’t let him complete his sentence. You grabbed his face, cupping it with both hands, pulling his face towards yours again. You kissed him again, with a lot more vigour, pouring out your pent up feelings into the kiss.
He was caught off guard by the sudden intensity of the kiss, but he melted into it. His hands pulled you even closer, as if trying to meld your body into his. He parted his lips, deepening the kiss, as he felt your arms wrap around his neck, pulling you even closer.
One of his hands came up to your face, cupping it, tilting his own to further deepen the kiss. The lack of air was starting to hurt, despite how addicting your lips were. He pulled back slowly, not before gently biting down on your bottom lip, pulling it between his teeth, before letting go of it with a pop.
You felt a little dazed, but still smiled up at him, your eyes slightly hazy and unfocused. He chuckled at your state, planting a kiss on top of your head. “Pretty, huh?”
Your cheeks grew warmer at the teasing undertone in his voice. “Shut up. I meant it, you know.”
His grin grew wider, as he kissed your cheek. “I know. I hope this is a good time to say that I like you? Like, I really fucking like you, I was just scared to confess because of the recent situation… with the excessive teasing and all… and, well, the fear of rejection.”
You hit his arm. “You silly goose — if I didn’t like you back, do you think I would behave the way I do with you? Absolutely not. You’re lucky I put up with your antics, you know.”
He rolled his eyes, although there was a smile on his face, one which he didn’t bother hiding. “You know, the hair tie was just a ploy? I just wanted any potential suitors to back off of you, but I didn’t expect people to react like… that.”
You let out a giggle. “I figured. It was honestly a really cute, albeit smart move on your part. Certainly made everyone back off… only to approach us with a different reason.”
He smiled down at you, his expression utterly lovesick. His eyes were practically resembling hearts. “D’you think if we announced it officially they would finally stop?”
You shrugged. “Probably not. Hopefully yes. But — in order to make it official, you need to ask me first, you know? Learn to be a gentleman, Woonhak.” The last bit was just you teasing him, something that he caught on to pretty quickly.
He playfully rolled his eyes, before speaking theatrically. “Fine — would you like to do the honour of becoming my girlfriend, ___? Wait no, scratch that — would you make me the happiest man alive by letting me take the position of your boyfriend?”
You scoffed in amusement at his dramatics, before pretending to think. “Take me out on a date first, then I will think of it.”
He gave you a smug grin, a determined glint in his eyes. “Deal.”

how do we feel about boynextdoor having cuteness aggression :ppp
oh i KNOW they’re hiding it fr. thank you so much for requesting! i love little chats with my anons :))

warnings: none i believe!

leehan really does try to keep it undercover, and i think he does the best job at it? he can be really calm in most public situations, but when you two are alone? ohhh that’s a whole different challenge, because now he has you all to himself. he’ll slowly start to break, giving you quick, snarky remarks so that hopefully you won’t notice the blush creeping up on his face. but if you place his face in your palms and straight up ask him what’s wrong, he’s a stuttering mess.
“you’re always puffing your cheeks like that y/n, do you only get like this for me?”
(he’s silently combusting inside.)
jaehyun is not your strongest soldier. anywhere and anytime he is with you he just erupts into this fit of coo’s and pouts. he really can’t control it. try walking past him and watch the way his eyes widen as they linger on you, then his fingers start to tremor, then he’s pursing his lips trying to keep in how cute you look wearing his clothes… before you can even ask why his head looks like it’s about to explode, there he goes!
“oh my god look at you. how could you do this to me??”
“im wearing your shirt? didnt you ask me to-”
“i can’t take it anymore!”
sungho is another one who tries veryyy hard to keep his cool. he’s actually super sensitive about his and your feelings, which makes him attentive to your every move, but he feels so embarrassed ogling at you 24/7, so he mainly tries to find any kind of distraction to keep himself off of you. It’s hardest for him to keep it in when he hasn’t seen you in a while though, he’ll do his best but trust his hugs will be tighter and his kisses just a bit more feverish.
he scoops you into his arms, entangling you in such a strong embrace that you find it hard to exhale when he finally lets you go.
“sungie did you miss me that much?”
“you have no idea.”
taesan is gonna try to be soo nonchalant about it, but his inner romantic is screaming and clawing at his skin. forget him maintaining his dignity during any kind of conflict with you. the way your eyebrows furrow, and how you pout your lip for only him to see, oh and if you put your hands on your hips? hes a goner. can’t even remember what the initial argument was for because now he’s enamored. absolutely has to squish your cheek or squeeze you physically to get the frustration out.
“baby, you can’t keep doing this to me.”
“doing what?”
“there you go again, i said stop it!”
riwoo is like, totally natural about it? i feel like cute things are just a regular part of his daily life, and he’s always appreciated those softer, cuter moments with you. rather than getting aggressive he just basks in the cuteness with you. is NOT afraid to tell you you’re cute, because how could he try to lie? when riwoo sees something cute he just HAS to have it. though he does say it so often that you have to question what exactly is so cute to him, do you ever get an answer? nope.
“aww look at you!”
“riwoo baby you’re doing it again.”
“i can’t help it, look at you!”
woonhak is like, the worst person to keep collected about this. he gets overly expressive and dramatic when he’s talking to anyone, so when he’s talking to you up close and your big doe eyes have his full attention, it’s 10x worse. as soon as the rage hits he’s already making a fool of himself. He’s fighting it so hard in hopes it’ll help the agression subside, but he doesn’t realize he’s practically yelling over his own thoughts and laughing ridiculously to try and cover the thumps of his heartbeat.
“woonhak is everything ok?”
“YEAH YEAH ITS SO GOOD, YOU JUST LOOK SO GREAT TODAY. IS IT HOT IN HERE OR IS IT JUST ME-“

ㅡ stumbling back to you ( 한동민 )

ㅡ PAIRING: ex!taesan x fem!reader
ㅡ SYNOPSIS: ୨ৎ in which you show up at your ex's doorstep drunk
ㅡ GENRE: fluff, college au, getting you back trope
ㅡ WARNINGS: none??? mentions of drinking and alcohol, kisses and cuddling but nothing more than that
ㅡ A/N: this ended up being longer than i expected oopsies!!! anyways hope u guys enjoy this ᡣ𐭩

taesan has just gotten out of the shower, his previously wet hair now dry as he sets the towel down on the bathroom counter. he’s about to go lay in bed when he hears the doorbell ring. and another. and once more.
taesan looks at the digital clock on his nightstand and frowns. 12:30 AM. why would anyone show up here this late? he’s deep in thought when he hears a loud knock, and someone’s voice. a voice he recognizes particularly well. his eyes widen a bit, but then go back to normal. no it couldn’t be.
he shakes down his suspicions and calmly walks to the door. the person on the other side is still knocking. he sighs before opening the door and the surprise on his face is evident. “y/n?”
“taesannnnn!!!!” you say, stretching out the end of his name. taesan stares at your face. the face of his ex that he knows all too well, the face of the girl he’d broken up with just three months ago.
it’s obvious to him that you’re drunk. your pink cheeks, the way you just hiccuped, how you keep closing your eyes because you can’t keep them open, and the fact that you’re leaning on the person beside you for support—wait who’s the guy beside you?
the guy taesan had been eyeing with nothing but sheer hatred finally gets the hint and speaks up, “hey man, y/n wouldn’t tell me where she lives and this is where she told me to take her… sorry about this haha…” taesan looks at him with an unexplainable emotion in his dark eyes.
“who are you?” he asks although it sounds more like a demand.
“i’m eunseok! we’re in the same club and we had a welcome party today! y/n got a little drunk and i was trying to drop her home but we ended up here…” eunseok says, a bit taken aback by taesan.
without saying anything, taesan grabs your arm and pulls you towards him, forcing eunseok’s hand to fall back next to his side. “hm?” you look up at him with squinted eyes.
“thanks for taking care of her, i’ll take it from here,” taesan gives him a stiff smile that eunseok reciprocates, trying not to make the moment even more awkward for himself. taesan pulls you inside his apartment and closes the door behind you.
once the door shuts you can immediately feel the warmth of his hands on your back, it engulfs your whole body. you smell the familiar scents of his body wash and shampoo and you take in a deep breath. taesan pulls you out of thought as he moves back to look at your face. he’s frowning.
“what were you thinking?” taesan sighs as he gets a look at what you’re wearing. a black dress that leaves most of your legs bare and a thin leather jacket, which is mainly just for style and does nothing to keep you warm.
“it’s so late and you’re dressed so lightly, and you let a random guy who sounds like he barely knows you walk you home while you’re drunk! do you realize how dangerous that is? what if something had happened, what if some weirdo did something to you—” he’s cut off by a giggle from you and the expression on his face changes when he sees your face.
“are you worried dongminie?” you look up at him and his heart softens at the name you call him. you are the only person, aside from his very close friends and family who calls him by his real name.
he ignores your question and looks away. you slightly stumble without taesan’s grip around your body and his gaze comes back on you as quickly as it left. his hands come around your shoulders and back to support you as he walks you over to the couch. he steps into the kitchen and comes back to hand you a glass of warm water.
“you usually get sick during this time of year, you shouldn’t be drinking cold water. and especially with that outfit you’ve been in all night.” he says the last sentence while glaring at you. you pout while drinking the water.
“mean dongminie,” you mumble and you swear you heard taesan let out a quiet laugh.
“dongminieeee!!!” you whine. taesan looks down at you, “what is it?” he says while moving a strand of hair away from your face. “y/n is tired.” you pout. taesan chuckles at how you can barely keep your eyes open as you talk to him. “alright. i’ll give you some clothes to wear and then you can go to sleep, okay?” his tone is so soft that it’s lulling you to sleep right then and there.
“don’t wanna. alwready coezy” you say, slurring your words as taesan bites a smile back. “come on, if you sleep in uncomfy clothes you’ll wake up really sore tomorrow.” you’re too tired to fight with him so you just give in, “carry me.” taesan sighs as his hand secure themselves under your thighs and back. he carries you to his bedroom and gently places you down.
taesan rummages through his closet to find clothes that’ll keep you warm while your arms are wrapped around his waist as you lean all of your body weight on him. once taesan finds something, he turns around to gently pat your back making you look up at him. “go on and change,” he hands you his clothes and walks your wobbly figure to the bathroom.
as he closes the door he shouts, “don’t fall, alright!” he’s worried because he’s seen you stumble over yourself way too many times tonight. “you’ve always been clumsy while drunk,” he says to himself before he hears you shout, “okie dokie!”
you step out of the bathroom and are about to trip once more over the fabric of the sweatpants taesan gave you. “dongminie too big,” you put your arms up to show him how the hoodie arm exceeds at least 5 inches over your hands.
taesan can’t help the smile from creeping up his face as he takes your appearance in. you’re wearing a matching grey sweatpant and hoodie set that got too small on taesan since he’d grown out of it. he laughed to himself at how even his smallest clothing looked humongous on you.
“i’ve missed seeing you in my clothes” he mumbles to himself. “huuuuuh?” you look at him, blinking your eyes with flushed cheeks, due to your intoxicated state and taesan just thinks you looked so cute that he could—he clears his throat.
“your ears are rwed dongminie” you point out, pointing to his red ears. taesan’s eyes widen as he quickly covers his ears. “y-you should go to sleep, you must be tired,” he point to his nicely made bed.
you nod and hold your arms up, waiting to be carried like a baby. taesan throws his head back and closes his eyes as he lets out a soft laugh, amused by your antics.
in a swift motion he pulls you up to wrap your legs around his waist and you instinctively wrap your arms around his neck. your face is buried into his neck and taesan can feel your breath on him. his grip on you is firm as he walks you over to his bed and gently lays you down.
he makes sure to pull the blanket all the way up until it reaches your chin and once again moves your hair away from your face. he looks at you with so much tenderness as his gaze lingers for a couple more moments, as if he’s trying to memorize your face like he’s never going to see you again.
“goodnight,” he finally says as he turns off the lamp on his nightstand and stands up to walk away when he feels a tug on his sleeve. he turns around to be met by your eyes which he can’t refuse, “stay please,” you mumble and taesan can’t say no to you. how could he when you look so precious.
he slowly nods as he crawls into the other side of the bed, pulling the blanket on him as he lays there stiffly. you turn to face him and he feels obliged to do the same. he looks so pretty that your drunken self can’t help but blurt out, “why’d you leave me dongminie. you’re a bad dongminie.” taesan’s eyes soften at your small voice and the hurt look on your face.
“i’m sorry,” he lets out a soft sigh, “it’s my fault.” “what do you mean? tell me,” you ask taesan, wondering what he means. the way taesan broke up with you was so abrupt. there had been no fights, no arguing, no nothing prior to the breakup. he had met up with you at the park and told you that you guys couldn’t be together anymore. you were so shocked because you guys were so happy. he was your most favorite person and without him nothing was the same.
you look back at taesan, it’s like he’s thinking carefully on if it’s okay for him to tell you. “it’s just that saemi, she—she was planning on framing you for plagiarism that she did. it would expel you out of university and she even had all the evidence and everything and wanted to ruin your whole life if I didn’t break up with you and i—i was just so scared. i didn’t want you to be ruined because of me so i—i had to,” he raked a hand through his raven hair and you could hear his voice shaking.
you remember saemi. back in highschool she had the biggest crush on taesan and everyone knew. so when you and taesan started dating you’d became her biggest enemy. she would play childish pranks on you like tripping you and slowly it got worse. she once locked you inside the janior’s closet for 3 hours and when taesan found you he was so furious that he got saemi suspended from school. you thought you’d never see her again after highschool but you never expected her to come back into your life and threaten your boyfriend.
“i’ve missed you like crazy. it was so hard for me to try to erase you from my life and i still can’t do it. every time i saw you walking with a guy my stomach would feel like it’s being ripped out but i couldn’t do anything about it.” there had been so many nights that kept taesan awake. he’d worry about if you were doing okay, if you were safe, if you had moved on and he would feel so empty. as you watched taesan you could tell how hard it’s been for him.
“you probably won’t remember this but i love you and i always will love you, even though i can’t be with you," he looked into your eyes with nothing but sincerity. you suddenly shifted your body close to him and the alcohol in your system made you spontaneously bold. you leaned even closer and caught his soft lips in yours. it was only for a moment but as you pulled away you could see the shock on taesan’s face even through the darkness of the room.
you sleepily giggle as you hold his hand underneath the blanket, “i’ll make sure i remember this at least,” you say, the last part becoming almost incoherent as you’re on the brink of falling asleep. taesan has always had this effect on you which instantly relaxes you.
your eyes are closed as you feel taesan bring you impossibly closer to him, as if you’ll disappear in an instant. your face is buried in his chest and the soft scent of his shampoo is intoxicating the air around you, even more than the soju you drank earlier. the last thing you feel before going off into dreamland is the softness of taesan’s lips on your head, pressing a kiss and mumbling a small “sleep well y/n.”
ㅡ ౨ৎ ㅡ
as soon as you open your eyes, you’re met with the view of a white t-shirt, likely someone’s chest as you’re snuggled in it. you look up to see who the owner is and your eyes land on taesan’s peaceful sleeping face. your heart softens and the memories of last night come flooding back. you smile to yourself before taking in taesan’s face. you haven’t had a good look of it in what feels like forever.
his lashes are long, you notice, not one sign of discomfort on his face as he sleeps soundly. his lips are slightly parted and the sound of his breathing fills the room. your gaze drops to his lips once again and you remember how you briefly kissed him last night. you gasp at your boldness, maybe a little too loud because taesan’s eyebrows furrow and he begins to shuffle. he softly groans before his eyes sleepily, open and they meet yours instantly.
“morning, baby,” he says lazily as his hands snake around your waist to pull you closer and his head buries in your neck. he did it so naturally that even he realizes and suddenly moves away and sits up. he looks a bit surprised but his expression changes and he looks shy.
“i swear i didn’t kidnap you!” he abruptly says and you have to force a giggle back as you sit up as well. “you probably don’t remember but you came here last night and you were drunk and—” “i remember,” you cut him off and his expression goes back to being surprised.
“you—you remember? everything?” “everything.” you assure him. he looks taken aback like he doesn’t know what to say. he shyly looks around the room figuring out his words, “so will you… take me back?”
taesan is scared of what you’ll say and it’s visible on his face. you both are looking into each other’s eyes and he looks so pretty right now that you could cry. you’ve so badly missed the morning face of his that you're looking at, his nagging habits, his smile, everything about him.
“of course i will, i’ve missed you so much dongminie,” you giggle sheepishly and taesan’s expression finally calms. “thank—thank god, i was scared you wouldn’t want me,” taesan finally exhales out the breath he’s been holding in.
“but you’ll have to promise me something,” taesan looks at you expectantly. “if there’s ever a problem we’ll tell each other and work through it together.” taesan aggressively nods at your words, “i’ve learnt my lesson.”
you laugh, “okay!” taesan once again looks at you expectantly while fiddling with his fingers. “so… does that mean i’m your boyfriend now?” you let out a hearty laugh again and taesan swears his heart does backflips.
“yes taesan you’re my boyfriend and i’m your girlfriend,” you say smiling and taesan can’t control himself as his hands reach out to cup your face and his lips meet yours.
he kisses you with so much softness and love that you can feel it emitting out of him. he savors you like it’s the first time he’s kissing you, his lips moving tenderly against yours. you feel him smile against your lips and that’s when you realize that he’d been longing for you as much as you had been longing for him.

FROM WINDOW TO WINDOW
it took three days for you and your family to fully move into your house. it took you three hours to finally set up your room. but it took three minutes for woonhak to see you from his bedroom window and fall in love with you. THE DAY I MET YOU series
PAIRING kim woonhak x fem!reader WC 3.2k TAGS adults dni. fluff, fluff, oh look! more fluff! cussing. woonhak is in puppy love. mutual pining. OMI NOTE i have the biggest smile on my face rn hehe.
the past few weeks had felt like what you could only describe as hell. at first it was long and tedious days of shopping for homes. then, it was doing lots of construction work inside the house. and finally, after not having a proper place to live that wasn’t a shitty hotel, your family began the moving process.
it went a lot faster than you had initially expected, but you were happy. the calm presence in the neighborhood made up for the lack of people in the area.
there was boxes on top of boxes in your arms, in which held almost your entire life. you had to lean back to maintain the weight, blowing wispies of hair out of your face so you could properly see where you were walking. part of you was too stubborn to make more than two trips, so you trudged along to your upstairs bedroom.
after dropping your things to the ground, you analyzed the surroundings properly; since you have not been able to explore much due to earlier construction. the ceilings weren’t very high since it was the second floor, but you didn’t care much at all. there were pretty hardwood floors, glazed with a matte finish, and the lighting was wonderful.
you noticed one large window on the side of your wall, mirroring exactly to the house next to you. the dark blue curtains were barely peaked open, so you paid no mind as you sat on the sill to go through one of your multiple boxes.
though as time passed, you failed to notice the sudden presence of the boy next door opening his window for fresh air. however in the middle of this, he saw you.
your figure sat idly, furrowing your eyebrows as you rummaged through your things. if looks could kill, there would be burn holes in your face from how intensely he stared at you. you were cute. really, really, cute. because of this, he was determined to get to know you.
when you felt a gaze in your direction you looked over to see the boy staring at you. he jumped at the sudden attention, making you smile. you waved kindly, opening your window to see if he needed anything.
“hi! this is a sort of random first interaction!” you huff from pushing your heavy window up.
“oh shit– i’m sorry i wasn’t trying to spy on you or anything! i just noticed you and that bedroom is usually empty you know?” he spoke very quickly, but he was quite charming. “and then woah! there’s a person in there haha…”
“no worries! i didn’t think anything negative. i’m y/n!” you smiled at him again, leaning a little more out the window.
“nice to meet you y/n, i’m woonhak.” he almost melted right there seeing you smile prettily.
“woonhak.. it has a nice ring to it. maybe we shall meet again at our windows, woonhak?” you tell him, pulling yourself back into your room.
“yes– hopefully!” he stuttered out, watching you close your window and resume your unpacking.
when you disappeared into the rest of your room, woonhak doesn’t think he’s ever bolted to his phone quicker. immediately he went to unlock his phone and pull up the groupchat with all of his friends. how could he not boast about the stunning girl next door?
all he could do was pace around his room. the sound of ringing for a couple seconds made him feel impatient, but he saw jaehyuns profile join the group call.
“holy shit jaehyun tell everyone they need to join the call right now.” the rest of the boys quickly popped in before he could say anything more.
“what do you need, woonhak?” taesan asked, sounding obviously sleepy.
“all of you guys need to come over to my house right now, but like don’t be suspicious when you pull up because i don’t want the girl next door to see.” woonhak begged.
“girl next door? wasn’t that house empty?” riwoo thought.
“yes but someone moved in, this is about her!” “our cute little maknae has a crush?!” sungho exclaimed, clearly excited for the boy.
“that’s so sweet it makes me want to vomit.” leehan made fake gagging noises, causing jaehyun to laugh.
“okay whatever but she’s actually gorgeous and i swear all of you better be on your way.” woonhak whined.
“the bikes are locked and loaded as we speak.” there was some rustling sounds from each of the boys on the other line.
“hurry!” woonhak hung up the call, quickly peeking outside to see if you were still there. your silhouette was a little blurry from the dirty windows, but you were going around hanging stuff on your walls and organizing items on your desk.
it didn’t take forever for the remainder of the boys to arrive at his house. they only lived down the street, so the bike ride wasn’t long. after parking their vehicles (as jaehyun calls it), at the side of woonhak’s house, they followed him inside.
“okay okay tell us everything!” jaehyun jumped onto the bed, kicking his feet behind him. everyone else made themselves comfortable around the room, ready to listen.
“so basically i was eating lunch downstairs right?” woonhak leaned back into his desk chair, “then when i came back up to my room, i saw someone moving in the window across the way. at first i was confused as hell because i thought it was a construction worker but it was a girl!”
“what happened next? you didn’t imagine things right?” taesan asked, suddenly intrigued.
“i’m not crazy like you are taesan– but anyways. i was honestly kind of staring at her and then she looked over at me. at first i fucking jumped i was ready to get out of there, but then she smiled at me. i swear, how could she be so pretty? it was insane.” he went on, “and get this, she opened her window and we started talking!” “i think she wants you at this point dude.” jaehyun clapped his hands together, making leehan nod his head with a grin.
“she literally introduced herself and everything, then told me that maybe we’ll meet again at our windows.”
“are you going to ask her to hang out, because you definitely should!” sungho looked out behind him, “is that her?”
everyone stood up to go look, but woonhak scrambled to get them all sitting back down and close his curtains.
“holy shit i know you guys aren’t about to all try to see her?” woonhak panicked, “what if she saw you that’s so creepy!”
“maybe she’ll find it charming that you brought all your friends over to talk about your one minute interaction.” riwoo joked.
“okay if you guys wanna see her you have to be more discreet about it.” woon cracked open the curtains a tiny bit, signaling for them to come over and see. you remained doing the same tasks you were doing since he met you, and apparently almost done.
“she is really pretty not gonna lie.” taesan mumbled, earning a shove from the lovesick boy.
“dude!”
“my bad my bad!” he chuckled, going back to his previous seat.
“so what’s the game - plan woon?” leehan looked over to him, who was now the only one standing amongst them.
“i don’t know, maybe she’ll miraculously show up at my door and confess her love to me?”
“wait! invite her to that party we’re hitting up tonight. maybe she’ll want to come with us? she can ride on the back of your bike.” jaehyun suggested.
“that could work actually, i could introduce her to the neighborhood too..” woonhak pondered, “okay but how do i ask her? i’m sure i can’t just go to her front door.”
“throw an eraser at her window to get her attention?” sungho said before picking up one of the many erasers on woon’s desk.
“i guess that could work, but all of you guys hide! that’s so awkward if she saw all of you guys staring behind me.” after giving in, he grabbed the eraser from sungho’s hand and opened his window.
the rest of the boys squatted underneath, giggling like school girls watching their friend try to talk to the girl he likes. of course they were supportive, and would stay that way to their graves, but teasing him was very amusing. it was safe to say that woonhak’s fidgeting hand pulled all of their hair to shut them up.
from what he could see, you were just on your phone scrolling mindlessly so he was hoping not to bother you. after contemplating for a solid few seconds, he chucked the object at your window. the sudden noise made you jump up slightly before opening your window and putting your head out.
“hello to you too?” you laugh, “did you need me or something?”
“sort of? i was um actually wondering if you’d want to go to a party down the street with me and my friends tonight? it can be like a welcome to the neighborhood kind of thing… only if you want to!” he took a deep breath after speaking.
“smooth.” riwoo whispered.
“that sounds fun actually! i don’t know how my dad would feel about it though.” you chew your bottom lip, thinking a bit.
“then sneak out with us? assuming your parents have been unpacking all day they’ll probably be tired and pass out! i don’t mean to be a bad influence or anything but it’d be really fun.”
“hmmm, i’d say you’re quite persuasive. what time?” you press against the sill and rest your cheek on your fist.
“at nine pm. so about four hours from now? we’re riding our bikes there but you can go on the back of mine?”
“then it’s a date, woon. i’ll see you then.” you waved at him before closing your own curtains.
you were unsure what to think as the cute boy next door asked you to hang out. especially after meeting you less than three hours ago; specifically from your bedroom window. it was an odd way to get to know your neighbor, but for some reason it was quite endearing.
was he staring or were you just a little delusional? maybe so, but that wasn’t relevant.
three and a half hours flew by, and you were anxiously getting ready. woonhak was right when he said your parents would fall asleep quickly, you could hear the snoring from across the hall.
you put together a presentable outfit, fixing up your hair as you usually do. the whole party scene wasn’t always your thing, but you wanted to make a good impression. part of you was also trying to impress him, as he technically knew nothing about you. you could put up a completely different front and he wouldn’t tell the difference.
it was important that he liked you, because being his nextdoor neighbor and also enemies didn’t sound too good.
as soon as you finished getting ready, you shoved a couple pillows underneath your blankets and opened up your window. the drop down could probably break your legs, so you sighed in defeat before pulling an extremely shaven down pencil from your desk and heaving it at woonhak’s window.
there was a little bit of silence before the curtains opened and revealed the boy you were trying to look pretty for (and his entire gang of friends behind him).
“hey! i’m ready but i kind of have a problem?” you say embarrassed.
he had to pause for a second, gawking at you like crazy. you wore a dress that hugged you perfectly, with a thin jacket draping over your shoulders. it wasn’t anything crazy fancy, but still cute for the event.
“oh– um yes! yeah hi what’s up.” woonhak blushed, scratching the back of his neck.
“i have no idea how to get out of my window… sneaking out of the front door is risky right now. my parents only went to sleep an hour ago.” you pout out your bottom lip disappointed.
“i can come down and catch you maybe? i don’t know, only if you’re okay with that!” he recommended shyly.
“yeah, yeah. that could work! just don’t drop me please.”
“only a fool would drop a girl like you.” he smirked, taking you aback slightly. the rest of his friends were reacting boyishly behind him before they all filed out to come get you. this was the moment you truly felt like a princess in need of saving. way to go feminism.
when he appeared below you his lips pulled into a wide smile, holding his arms out, “ready?”
“i’m kind of scared.”
“i promise you’ll be fine.” he plants his feet down hard, ready to catch you. “but you are wearing shorts right?”
“yes of course i am you pervert.” you roll your eyes playfully, making him blush.
swinging your leg out the window, you carefully try to step against the texture of the wall and grab against the edge. you’re able to lean yourself far enough to where you’re at a comfortable distance and let go.
you land against woonhak, feeling his tight grasp first - hand. though you stumble slightly, he’s able to hold you still against him.
“see? i caught you.” he tells you, wiping the hair from in front of your face.
“yeah you did.” a pink tint grazes over your cheeks, causing you to look away and avoid eye contact.
“you guys can stare at eachother all you want at the party, lets go!” jaehyun groans, pushing his kickstand with his foot
the others began on their bikes while you followed behind woonhak to his own.
“i’m sorry if this is a little awkward for you.” he apologized, sitting down. “but it would probably be a little safer if you held on to me.. i’ve never really rode a bike with another person behind me.”
“no– i understand! i don’t feel awkward at all woon.” you sit behind him, letting your hands snake around his waist and grabbing firmly. the sudden touch made his stomach swarm with butterflies.
as soon as you were situated, he began pedaling down the street. you were pressed against his back, letting the comfort of the night consume you. a breeze sent shivers down your spine, making you almost nuzzle your head into woonhak.
“getting comfy?” he pointed out to cover up how giddy you made him feel.
“mm, just chilly. but it’s just the wind.” you sigh against his cardigan.
“we’re almost there, it’s not too far.”
when you arrived at the party, it was a lot louder than when you barely heard it down the street. music made the walls vibrate with the bass, and there seemed to be a lot of people there. if not the whole neighborhood, most of it.
“this is the most popular house on the street for parties. there’s one almost every week during the summer.” woonhak yelled loud enough so you could hear.
“do you come to every one?” you responded with the same energy.
“not really, this is my third one this summer.” he replied. “let’s go get a drink from the kitchen, it’s loud in here.”
you accompanied him to the kitchen where it was a little quieter. there were cups spread out everywhere and lots of snacks. a few people here and there, but they were mainly in the living area.
“sooo, is this your first party?” woonhak mentioned to break the silence.
“it isn’t my first party but definitely the loudest.”
“i get that, it can get pretty deafening in here. just wait until jaehyun starts breaking out in the dance circle. i might just have to hype him up louder than the crowd.” he laughs, handing you a cup of fruit punch.
“i take it you’re very extroverted?” you take a sip from your drink.
“you could say so, i just enjoy being with my friends. but i’m nervous around certain people.”
“like who?”
“nobody specific– don’t worry about it.” he played it off, making you giggle
the rest of the night you and woonhak barely left the kitchen. he was easy to talk you, like you instantly clicked. there was something about his demeanor that switched the longer you had a conversation with him. he even skipped out on hyping jaehyun to continue speaking to you and making sure you wouldn’t be left on your own.
it was comforting to know that he wasn’t letting his eyes off of you in such a crowded space. but you could barely realize that he couldn’t look away even if he wanted to. you looked so perfect in the multicolor lights that flashed nearby.
you quickly lost track of the time, so entranced by him, that you didn’t notice the slow pile out of people. sungho and leehan came tumbling into the kitchen, completely exhausted.
“hey i’ve been looking everywhere for you guys! we’re leaving right now because jaehyun accidentally slipped and ate shit… it was getting late anyways.” sungho grunted.
“we stuffed his nose bleed with some toilet paper and he’s waiting outside.” leehan perked up from behind sungho.
“ah alright we’re right behind you.” woonhak stood up, tossing his empty solo cup to the trash before leaning out a hand to you.
you held onto the offer graciously, pulling yourself up. but when you were up on your feet, he didn’t let go, leading you outside hand in hand.
“are you cold?” he questioned as the air outside made you shiver.
“just a little, this thin sweater isn’t doing me much justice.”
a sudden warmth overflowed you as the cardigan woon was wearing made its way over your shoulders. the smell of his cologne immediately englufing you.
“there, that’s better right?”
you nod sheepishly, situating yourself on the back of his bike once again.
once your house came into view, you felt a little sad. the rest of woonhak’s friends filtered out to their houses on the ride back.
it was maybe one in the morning, but those hours you spent with woonhak would be engraved in your mind forever. you felt stupid getting so attached to him in the span of a day, but how could you not?
“so, this is your stop.” he parked his bike in the grass spot in between your houses, walking you up to your porch
“yeah haha..” you mumble, “thank you a lot for tonight, woon. it was really nice talking and getting to know you.
“it was really nice getting to know you too y/n. and um– you looked really really pretty tonight.” he looked everywhere but at you, still you know he meant it.
“thank you…” you felt very bashful, and didn’t know what to do. so you tried what felt right.
walking closer to him, you took his face in your hands and planted a kiss on his cheek. it was quick, but it sent off fireworks in his stomach.
“was that okay?” you stammer.
“that– that was more than okay.” he places one of his hands on his cheek, his fingers ghosting over where your lips were.
“i’m glad then. goodnight, woon.”
“goodnight, y/n.”
he watched as you entered your home quietly, not to wake your parents. but as soon as you were out of his view, he was grinning ear to ear, running back to his house and kicking off his shoes.
as soon as he reached his bedroom, he immediately went up to the window to see you coming into yours. you smiled at him tenderly before shutting your curtains.
that night you slept peacefully thinking about the boy next door, and you knew he did the exact same.

. ❚ 소중 ❜ ♡. readerㅤ⟢ㅤ229ㅤㅤ( ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ )ㅤㅤfluff, leehan bf!au ❜ㅤㅤ─── through quiet gestures and constant warmth.
Leehan would be the kind of boyfriend who makes everything feel a little softer, a little warmer—like the world slows down when you’re with him. He’s quiet but attentive, always noticing the smallest things. If you mention craving a certain snack offhandedly, he’s showing up the next day with it tucked in his bag, acting like it’s no big deal.
He’s not loud about his affection—it’s in the little gestures. The way his hand finds yours under the table, his thumb brushing slow circles against your skin. Or how he pulls you closer when you’re walking together, especially if the street is busy—like his first instinct is always to keep you safe.
Leehan is patient. If you’re having a rough day, he won’t overwhelm you with words—you’ll just find yourself wrapped in his arms, his steady heartbeat grounding you. He’s a good listener too, the type who remembers things you told him weeks ago and brings them up in conversation like it’s the easiest thing in the world.
And when he smiles—soft and a little shy—it feels like everything else fades away. He’s the kind of boyfriend who makes you feel cherished without ever having to say the words out loud. But when he does say them, when he looks at you like you hung the stars in the sky, it’s enough to make your heart race every time.

- IDOL BOYFRIEND LEEHAN! 🎀 🐶 🩶
· boynextdoor | idol!kim donghyun x idol, gn!reader · other. fluff, forehead kisses, skinship, crying, wounds, hate comments. getting caught together. requested! not proofread. 721 words.
꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ daily click!

BOYNEXTDOOR LEEHAN! who you had been crushing on for a while, falling for him ever since you were a guest mc on music bank.. so who could blame you when your eyes were glued to him? who giggled slightly when you got the dance point for ‘one and only’ wrong..
ONEDOORS! who along with your fans and other netizens went crazy in Twitter after, making shipping comments that only made you blush and giggle when you got back to your dorms.
“It’s only our first week as idols and he already has a dating scandal?!” Woonhak huffed. Leehan shook his head, hiding the blush on his cheeks.. “Hey.. he’s blushing~” Taesan teased, making Leehan roll his eyes and push them off, going back to his room ( to text you.. )
IDOL BOYFRIEND LEEHAN! whose members or staff, and not even your members knew about your relationship. who’d text you cute little messages even when he was a trainee, a far cry from his usual quiet, 4D aura..
IDOL BOYFRIEND LEEHAN! who liked to visit your dorms when all your members had left, too scared to let anyone find out.. giving you hugs and kisses and giggles.. then immediately going away to gaze at your fish tank for 2 hours.. ( sometimes you regretted getting fish after dating him )
would give you subtle glances when you passed him in music shows, almost like he didn’t know you at all.. but immediately went to texting you right after. would look up at the screen at your performance, admiring how lit up you looked on stage.. but noticed how you seemed less bright on your ending fairy..
IDOL BOYFRIEND LEEHAN! who left right after his performance to comfort you when you were sent back early to your dorms, who kept an arm around your shoulder and kissed your forehead softly as you cried on his shoulder.. who patched up the wound on your knee and comforted you the best he could.
“Babe, why are you crying? does it hurt?” He cooed lowly. “N-not as much.. but.. what if they say I’m not a good performer again? I kept making mistakes..” You cried and whimpered out. “Shh.. I know.. don’t worry, y/n, the fall wasn’t on camera.. a-and.. you did really good!”
who didn’t really know how to comfort you well, but tried his best.. and it made you feel so cared for. you wrapped your arms around his neck slowly while sniffling, making him sigh and pat your back softly.
who was usually scared to death of getting caught, but when your members entered the dorm and gasped at the sight of you two, he couldn’t care less..
who didn’t even talk to your members or anyone else that night, just came back to your room with your favourite snacks and snugly hugged you and kissed your forehead..
IDOL BOYFRIEND LEEHAN! who loved the little gifts you’d leave for him when you stayed over or visited secretly. Who gasped and widened his eyes when you surprised him with another fish. who immediately hugged you and lifted you off the ground, giggling and pressing a thousand kisses to your face.
“Y/n?! ..Leehan?!” Woonhak exclaimed, with Taesan and Riwoo by his side, hands filled with take out as their jaws dropped, seeing you in Leehan’s arms as he paused from kissing your neck again. “Oh.. hey.” he said, not caring for their shock and going back to kissing your neck and giggling..
IDOL BOYFRIEND LEEHAN! who ever since that day, was less of a nervous wreck to have you around him even with his members in the dorms, to smiling at you in the halls and having his arm around you.
but who still blushed and rolled his eyes when they made teasing comments towards you both, who even after the changes of his friends and close ones finding out, stayed in your dorm just to watch your fish swim around for hours..
“Hey, what about onedoors and (insert fandom name~)? Aren’t you worried about how they’d react?” Taesan said, making Leehan choke on his food and widen his eyes. You sighed and patted his back. “Relax..” you cooed at him.. “he was scared to death of you guys finding out alone, try not to mention anything about the public finding out..” you whispered to Taesan..

“Everyone please welcome the school band!” your principal announced before moving off the stage so that the auditorium could get a better view of the musicians.
And that’s when you saw him.
Kim Woonhak.
He stood there, guitar in hand and strumming along to whatever melody the lead singer was belting out. But in all honesty you couldn’t really focus on the music, well other than the guitar solo, because your eyes were too stuck on Kim Woonhak. And in that moment, you swore you were what the poets could only describe as: lovestruck.
That was in sophomore year and since then you really couldn’t get over your crush on Woonhak. Slowly but surely you learnt more and more about him: you learnt that he just transferred to your highschool from the bustling streets of seoul, you learnt that he was a year younger than you, that he was an avid football enjoyer, and that he had absolutely no clue who you were at all.
In all honesty however you really weren’t trying to do anything about your small crush either, you were perfectly content with admiring him from afar. Partly because of the fact that if you were in a situation where you had to speak with him you feared you would only fumble over your words. It’s not like Woonhak was scary or intimidating, actually it was the complete opposite; contrary to his bandmates Woonhak was one of the most approachable members of the group. Yet every time there was an opportunity to speak to him you stumbled over each phrase leaving your mouth.
But it’s okay, it’s not like Woonhak even liked you back.
“Hi, is this the yearbook club?” How come that voice sounds so familiar?
Turning around you were met with a sight that you truly weren’t ready for “It’s Kim Woonhak, from uh class 11B! I was hoping to sign up” ah…so that’s why.
“Oh nice to meet you, YN is the leader so talk to her about joining- er she’s right over there!” curse you Yeji.
“Hey YN right?” he said before quickly tapping your shoulder. Regaining your composure you cleared your throat before turning around to face him, said composure you just regained suddenly seemed to melt away in an instant the moment he flashed that toothy grin at you.
“Oh uh- yeah yeah…” smooth YN, real smooth.
“I was wondering if you guys had a photographer yet? I know your head of the editorial team so I assumed you would know..”
“Oh we um, we actually don’t-”
“Oh that’s perfect! Well I mean, not perfect for you guys obviously, but uh- I was hoping I could work on leading photography this year?” oh and he’s multitalented, great.
“I didn’t know you did photography” you mumbled whilst typing away on your laptop to add his name to the yearbook committee
“Oh I don’t really talk about it a lot, but it’s just a casual hobby you know” his hand reached for the nape of his neck as his gaze averted down to the floor
“Ah that’s nice,” you replied absentmindedly “well you’re now a part of the team so uh, I’ll email you the pictures we need soon…”
“Great thanks YN!” fuck, there was that smile. “I’ll get going now, I’ve got band practice..but it was great speaking to you! Promise I won’t disappoint you leader.” he added with a playful giggle while mock saluting, you couldn’t really control your face when a slight smile appeared across your face.
“Oooh someone’s not over him I see…” Yeji chirped up the moment he left the room, the smile on your face immediately dropping before you turned away to pack away your belongings
“What are you talking about Yeji, we said like 3 things to each other…”
“Three things are enough for me to know that you definitely aren’t over that guy!”
“Okay first off,” you started before finally zipping up your backpack “We were just having a friendly conversation, nay not even friendly considering it was for work.” slinging your blue backpack over your shoulder you added “second off, I didn’t even have a huge crush on him. All I said was he’s cute, and that was like what- sophomore year? It’s been a year, it was nothing seriously..” yeah you weren’t even buying your own lame excuse
“Mhm, sure…I know you still like him!” She called out as you were halfway out the door, earning nothing but a slam in the face from you leaving.
“Hey YN?”
You immediately shot your head up from the peaceful nap you were having, Kim Woonhaks voice immediately snapping you out of your dreamlike state. Looking up at him with dazed eyes and thought still admittedly fogging up your brain you could only utter out “What- huh?”
“Oh sorry did I wake you?” he replied, his tone was a mixture of what you could assume to be a wince and giggle combined into one
“Um kinda,” you reached over to rub your hazy eyes before staring back up at him “What’s up Woonhak?”
“Could you look over these pictures I took of yesterday’s sport festival, I’m not sure if they’re alright or not-” handing you his camera you couldn’t shake off the feeling of his hand grazing yours as you reached over
Shaking your head in hopes to rid the burning sensation firing through your arm you diligently looked over the snapshots he took, nodding slightly in approval at each one. “These look great Woonhak, thank you.” you finally commented before handing him back his camera. Standing up from your desk you were amidst packing up before he jumped in to add “Ah um sorry there’s one more thing I need to do…”
“Hm?”
“When taking the yearbook committee’s photo I didn’t realise my SD card wasn’t loaded up so I kinda didn’t get to save any of the pictures I took…I got everyone else’s photo I just need yours” he explained whilst holding up his camera
“Oh wait like- right now?” when else YN you idiot
“Yeah I guess…”
“Ah okay,” you replied before walking over to the nearest blank white wall in sight “Is this okay?”
“Yep perfect, just hold that pose for me…” he trailed off whilst snapping a few photos “How are these?” walking over you examined each photo he took closely, not minding how his face was a few mere inches from yours as you did so.
“Aw wait I look so bad in these-” you whined out, slightly embarrassed that you looked this dishevelled in front of him
“What no what do you mean, you look pretty” he mumbled under his breath, obviously not noticing the red hue that flushed over your face the moment he uttered that. Becoming all too aware of the heat creeping up your cheeks you backed away slowly before muttering “I guess it’s fine then…”
“Alright then, thanks YN! I guess I’ll get going now..” wait fuck was he going already? YN come on say something, say anything! Ask him to hangout later, ask him something about himself, talk to him, he’s right there what are you waiting for?
“Hey Woonhak-”
“Oh hm?” his head immediately perking up at your voice
And in that moment, the moment his eyes met yours, it seemed all the words died on the very tip of your tongue “Ah it’s nothing, uh just remember to send me the pictures later you know?”
“Ahh gotchu gotchu, I’ll make sure to do that! Bye YN” and in that moment you wanted nothing more than to call out his name to stop him from leaving, but you didn’t.
Great YN.
Come on YN, you can do this. He’s just a guy, you’ve spoken to guys before, who cares? It’s not a big deal just go in and-
“Oh YN is that you?” ah shit.
Letting out a loud sigh you cleared your throat before creaking the door of the music studio room open to peek your head through “Hi Woonhak, er is this a bad time?” you asked after seeing how you unknowingly interrupted his guitar practice
“Oh no, It’s fine, come in!” rushing to put down his guitar he pounced up and briskly walked over to the door to allow you in
“Ah I just came to say some of the files got corrupted when you sent them to me so I was wondering if you could send them to me again” you said before timidly stepping into the studio, carefully examining the sheet music he was playing
“Oh yeah no problem,” he seemed to catch onto how your eyes scanned through the sheets of paper and how your hands travelled across the metallic strings of his guitar, “Do you um- do you play?”
“Oh what?” your tone was jumpy, suddenly flustered at the question “ah no no, not really…I mean I kinda do play, but I’m not very good. I’m still really bad…” you trailed off, gaze still directed to the sheet music
“Do you want to try playing?” his hand now reaching over to hand the guitar to you
“Ah I only know I few songs though-” still you timidly took the instrument in hand and began strumming a few open chords whilst singing in a barely audible tone; woonhak still caught it though, and you could tell as he swayed his head side to side to the melody.
“I’m still um,” you finally said after finishing playing, “I’m really bad” you couldn’t help but add a nervous chuckle to the end of that sentiment, you expected him to laugh and agree in response but instead he just said “Don’t say that, there’s always room for improvement.” before standing up to sit himself down next to you.
“Do you want me to teach you how to play, I was just practising and I’m sure you can get the hang of it” you can’t help but feel your pupils dilate and blood to rush up your cheeks before hesitantly nodding
As he guided you through the chords of the song you couldn’t help but hold your breath as his face was a mere few inches away from yours, you couldn’t help but feel your heartbeat out of your chest as his hands held your fingers to adjust it accordingly to the notes, you couldn’t help but stutter nervously every time you asked if you were playing the right chord to which he only responded with a reassuring nod and gentle grin.
“Look at that you’re a natural!” he exclaimed the moment you finished the song
“Well it was only thanks to your help, do you have any tips to improve?” you asked trying to continue the conversation, this was the one time you actually had the guts to speak to Woonhak and you were not going to fumble
“I guess just improvise a lot, also try and practise scales since those are super helpful as well…actually most electric guitar songs are built on scales so once you’ve got those down you can pretty much play a ton of electric guitar songs!” suddenly pausing he reached to the nape of his neck before sheepishly mumbling “ah sorry I’m rambling, I probably sound like a huge music nerd right now…”
“No, It’s cute that you’re passionate!” oh, for once your mind seemed to run faster than your mouth.
Suddenly perking his head up to meet your equally shocked gaze he let out a nervous chuckling before mumbling something you could only assume was thank you. The silence in the room becoming all too overwhelming you cleared your throat slightly before stuttering out “Uh well, thanks for the impromptu lesson Woonhak- I’ve got some yearbook work to finish up so I think I’ll get going…” you didn’t really wait for his response before briskly leaving the room, face still flushed with embarrassment.
The next few weeks consisted of more interactions with Woonhak than you’ve had the entire two years you’ve attended the same highschool as him. It wasn’t anything big: a simple wave across the hallway as you passed by each other, small talk in yearbook committee meetings, the occasional music sessions together in the band room, it was fun. It was really nothing, but you cherished those fleeting few moments you had with him. Over time you came to the conclusion that the relationship between you and woonhak would stay this way, acquaintances. So imagine the whiplash you got when he approached you at your lunch table through the crowd of people.
“Hey YN!” he chirped out, cheery as every
Slightly coughing on your yakult from surprise you gathered yourself before replying a bit too quickly with “Oh Woonhak! Hi- uh what’s up?”
“Oh I had something to give you,” carefully he pulled out a small tupperware container of bright red fruit from his bag, placing it in front of you “they’re strawberries! It’s from my grandma's garden actually-”
Startled by the sudden kind gesture you could only stare at the container with your mouth slightly agape, “Oh what, thank you wow- uh what’s the occasion?”
“Oh I heard you complaining the other day to Yeji how the canteen only ever gives you 2 strawberries each. So I thought you would like some extra!” he answered, hand extending to open the container for you
“Oh wait you really didn’t have to-”
“I wanted to don’t worry!” He had to stop doing that.
Before you could answer you were cut off by someone shouting his name from across the lunch room; a slightly older boy, hair hazelnut brown and arm slung across one of his other friends. “Hey Kim Woonhak, stop being Romeo and come back to eat!”
You observed how Woonhak rolled his eyes in annoyance before grunting out a response back to his friend. “Sorry, Jaehyun hyung is calling- Uh hope you enjoy though!” he didn’t really give you a chance to respond before rushing back to his table, earning a shove in the shoulder from one of his other friends.
Looking down at the fruit you couldn’t help but smile to yourself before savouring the sweet taste when you bit down on one. However your moment of solitude was short lived as your friends approached the table in a giggling storm.
“Oooh what was that hm? Finally making some progress with loverboy?” Yeji teased before sitting down next to you, helping herself to one of the juicy berries
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” you deadpanned, voice slightly muffled from the fruit in your mouth
“I didn’t even know YN was close too Woonhak like that” Lia added whilst poking at her rice
“We’re not that close, we’re just friends you know? We work on the yearbook together so…”
“Well best not to get too close I guess,” Ryujin commented in between spoonfuls of soup “I heard he’s leaving in a couple of weeks, something about his parents wanting him to go back to Seoul for the family business? I don’t know-”
Everything stopped, you tried to play it cool and ignore the dreadful feeling simmering in the pits of your stomach but you really couldn’t stop a small frown forming across your face after hearing the news.
“Oh I heard he likes some girl in his class too, he was gonna confess to her on his last day or something? Jo Yuri I think that’s what her name was” Chaeryeong added nonchalantly, clearly not noticing how your head dipped down more and more as the conversation went on. Suddenly you weren’t so hungry.
“I uh-” you stood up and began packing away your things “I think I’m gonna get a head start on yearbook work today”
“Wait YN are you okay?” Yeji asked, clearly concerned
“Yeah I’m fine! I just have a lot to do today that’s all-” you attempted to sound carefree, even throwing in a slight chuckle. But your friends obviously weren’t buying it, so instead you just rushed out of the canteen. But not before sneaking a glance at woonhak: seeing how carefree and happy he looked with his friends, how sweet his gaze was and how cheerful his toothy grin was. But also noticing how his table was right next to Yuri’s, fun.
Well it’s not like you had a chance anyways, guess that just solidifies it.
“Woonhak?” creeping into the yearbook club room you peered over at his sleeping figure on the table, god why did he have to look so peaceful sleeping.
Walking over to the table he was dozing off on you situated yourself next to him allowing yourself to lay down as well to face him carelessly snoozing off. Chuckling a bit to yourself at the sight you allowed yourself to gingerly run your hands through his hair, well it’s not like he was awake to notice it.
“This is so stupid…” you sighed out to yourself
“I really could have had a chance to confess to you if I had just talked sooner, but now you’re leaving in a few weeks and I’m kinda hopeless. I really do wish I talked to you after your first performance that one day at school, god you looked so cool…I don’t even know why you make me so nervous” your fingers traced over the crinkled fabric on his shoulders, not really caring if he responded
“Well I don’t think I had a chance in the first place did I?” you rambled on “Yuri is sweet, I’m happy as long as you’re happy you know…but I just wish it was me. I just wish you liked me as much as I liked you, I wish you got nervous the same way I do when I’m around you. I wish I spoke to you earlier. But I doubt that would change anything, I’m still just YN…the one senior you work with for yearbook, nothing else.”
Realising how immensely self loathing and pathetic this whole situation was you slowly pushed in your stool in hopes not to wake him and tip-toed out the room. But amidst this you failed to notice how the tip of Woonhak’s ears turned pink, you failed to notice the incessant thumping of his heart, you failed to notice how his cheeks burned a bright pink, you failed to notice how Kim Woonhak was awake this whole time.
Stumbling into the auditorium you squeezed yourself into one of the chairs arranged in rows, squished against other students like a pack of sardines. Weeks passed and you hadn’t really spoken to Woonhak ever since learning he was leaving soon, you really weren’t looking to get too attached (not like you already weren’t). But before you knew it, it was the last day of school and you wouldn’t be seeing Woonhak for a long long time. However, you’ve learned to come to terms with this fact, it’s not like you weren’t already distancing yourself from him to prepare for it.
“Hello everyone!” Jaehyun's voice bellowed through the speakers, snapping you out of your thought process. “Today is actually one of our band member’s last days. Our Woonhak is off to Seoul soon so he requested this special song! Hope you enjoy it!”
They then began to play a melody you felt was far too familiar, but then it hit you. It was the song Woonhak was teaching you before in the music room. Ah shit. You tried to focus on what the other members were playing or singing but your eyes always managed to drift towards Woonhak. You really couldn’t help but have a slight melancholy feeling brewing in your stomach as you realised this would be your last day seeing him. The moment felt all too bittersweet but seeing him so happy on stage performing brought out a smile. It was the same smile you had when first seeing him, when he entered the yearbook club room for the first time, when he taught you guitar, and when you confessed to him. It was a smile only Woonhak could bring out.
And as if he was peering into your thoughts Woonhak glanced up from his guitar and looked straight at you. His warm honey gaze met yours, eyes shaped like crescents as he adorned his signature toothy grin. For once though, you didn’t pull away first. Your eyes lay fixated on his as you smiled back. Perhaps it was because you finally got close enough to woonhak to do so, or maybe because you knew this would be the last time you could truly look into that flutter inducing gaze of his. Eitherways, you knew you would regret it if you pulled away. So you didn’t. You didn’t stop looking until the performance was over and each member bowed, but even then his stare remained on you.
As the performance ended students began flooding out the auditorium, you doing the same, but that was until you felt a hand wrap around your wrist. Jolting back you were met with Woonhak’s sincere expression facing you, an expression you felt slightly uneasy about.
“Hey YN, can we talk?” he said, pulling you back a bit away from the crowd
“Oh uhm what’s up?”
“So uh,” Woonhak’s hand reached towards the back of his head as he pulled a bit at his hair, he was acting uncharacteristically shy. “I’m leaving after today, well I guess you knew that- but yeah uh it was fun um…it was fun working with you!”
“Thanks Woonhak, it was fun working with you too.” your words were poignant as they left your tongue
“I uh, I’ll miss you.” oh.
“Oh, I'll uh- I’ll miss you too Woonhak…” you were about to continue your sentence until the bell cut you off, signalling students to return to their respective classes “I should get going- you did great today though seriously! Keep doing what you’re doing, your smile’s always the brightest in every room.” you continued, backing away slowly to the auditorium gates
“It’s reciprocated!” Woonhak called out
“What?” Were you hearing things?
“I like you too YN!” oh.
