These standing Buddha statues are depicted holding alms bowls. In Buddhism, the begging bowl, or alms bowl, is one of the simplest but most important objects in the daily lives of Buddhist monks. It is primarily a practical object, used as a bowl in which to collect alms from lay supporters. The simple begging bowl, has, over time become a symbol of the Buddha's teachings of non-attachment.

This Buddha panel is hand carved from reclaimed antique wood found in old houses around the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, and painted with worn, muted colors that really give the piece a sense of age. Lord Buddha is seen in the protection gesture also known as abhaya mudra. This panel is perfect for leaning against or hanging on a wall. The antique wood used for the panel, gives the carving an authentic, antique effect!  All of our wood Buddha panels, including this one, are one of a kind, when you buy this panel you will receive this exact piece. http://www.dharmasculpture.com/category/new-arrivals.html
