Imagine a floor built just for sports! It's designed to boost player skills, keep everyone safe, and add comfort during games. Built from stuff like hardwood, vinyl, rubber, or even synthetic materials, each one is custom-built for the sport it'll host. Got a basketball or volleyball court? You'll likely see hardwood flooring, famous for its long-lasting, shock-absorbing, traction-boosting features and it looks great too! Need a floor for a gym used for many purposes? It's soft, easy to clean up, and lasts a long while. In fitness centers, rubber floors are a star as they are great at preventing slips and absorbing shocks during high-impact workouts. Top-notch sports floors aren't just about helping athletes do their best, but they also help avoid injuries with the right grip and cushion. But aesthetics aren't neglected. These floors come in different designs and colors to match the team's or the facility's vibe. So in a nutshell, sports floors are a must-have for athletes to train or play safely and effectively. 5 Benefits of Choosing Oak Flooring for Your NZ Home
Tumblr media
Choosing the right flooring is crucial for any homeowner looking to enhance the aesthetic and value of their property. When it comes to timeless elegance and lasting durability, oak flooring stands out as a preferred choice for many New Zealand homes. At Vienna Woods, we understand the unique needs of Kiwi homeowners and offer an extensive range of oak flooring in NZ to suit various styles and budgets. In this comprehensive guide, we explore the top five benefits of choosing oak flooring for your NZ home and why it might be the perfect fit for you.
1. Unmatched Durability and Longevity
One of the most significant advantages of oak flooring in NZ is its remarkable durability. Oak is a hardwood, which means it can withstand high foot traffic, making it ideal for busy households. Whether you have kids running around or pets with sharp claws, oak flooring is built to endure the daily wear and tear that comes with active living.
Why Oak Flooring Stands the Test of Time
Oak's dense grain structure contributes to its strength and resistance to dents and scratches. This means your flooring will look pristine for years, even with minimal maintenance. Additionally, oak flooring can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifespan, which can extend well over a century with proper care. This not only preserves its beauty but also its functionality.
Comparison with Other Flooring Materials
Compared to other flooring options like pine or bamboo, oak is less prone to damage and requires fewer repairs over time. This makes it a cost-effective solution in the long run, as you won't need to replace it as frequently as other, less durable materials.
2. Timeless Aesthetic Appeal
Oak flooring is renowned for its classic and versatile appearance, which can complement a variety of interior design styles, from traditional to contemporary. The natural grain patterns and warm tones of oak add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any room.
Enhancing Your Home’s Interior
The beauty of oak flooring lies in its ability to enhance the overall aesthetic of your home. Whether you're aiming for a rustic, country look or a sleek, modern vibe, oak can adapt to your vision. The natural variations in color and grain provide a unique and personalized touch to each plank, ensuring that no two floors are exactly alike.
Versatility in Design
Oak flooring is available in various finishes, from light to dark shades, allowing you to choose the perfect match for your home’s decor. Additionally, you can select between different plank widths and lengths, offering even more customization to fit your style.
3. Easy Maintenance and Cleaning
Keeping your floors clean can often feel like a never-ending task, especially in a busy household. However, one of the standout benefits of oak flooring in NZ is its ease of maintenance. Unlike carpet, which can trap dirt and allergens, oak flooring provides a smooth surface that is simple to clean.
Daily Care Tips
Routine cleaning involves sweeping or vacuuming to remove dust and debris, and occasional mopping with a damp cloth to keep the floors looking their best. For spills, a quick wipe is usually sufficient to prevent staining. The low maintenance requirement of oak flooring means you can spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying your home.
Long-Term Maintenance
Over time, your oak flooring may develop a patina that adds to its charm. However, if you prefer to maintain its original look, periodic resealing or refinishing can help preserve the wood's appearance and protect it from damage. This process is straightforward and can be done by a professional or as a DIY project.
4. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Choice
With growing concerns about environmental impact, choosing eco-friendly materials for your home is more important than ever. Oak flooring is an excellent choice for those looking to make a sustainable decision without compromising on quality or style.
Sustainable Harvesting Practices
Many suppliers, including Vienna Woods, source oak from sustainably managed forests where trees are harvested responsibly and new ones are planted to replace them. This ensures that the use of oak for flooring does not contribute to deforestation and helps maintain healthy forest ecosystems.
Long Lifespan Reduces Waste
The longevity of oak flooring also contributes to its sustainability. Since oak floors can last for decades, they reduce the need for frequent replacements and therefore, minimize waste. Additionally, at the end of its life, oak flooring can be recycled or repurposed, further reducing its environmental footprint.
5. Increases Property Value
Investing in high-quality oak flooring in NZ can significantly enhance the value of your property. Potential buyers are often willing to pay more for homes with premium flooring, which makes oak an excellent choice for those considering future resale.
Enhancing Home Value
The timeless appeal and durability of oak flooring make it a desirable feature in any home. It is seen as a mark of quality and luxury, which can make your property more attractive to prospective buyers. Homes with oak flooring often sell faster and at a higher price than those with cheaper, less durable flooring options.
Return on Investment
While oak flooring may have a higher initial cost compared to some other materials, its long-term benefits and the added value to your home can result in a significant return on investment. The cost savings on maintenance and replacements, combined with the potential increase in property value, make oak flooring a wise financial decision.
Conclusion
Choosing oak flooring for your NZ home offers numerous benefits, from its unmatched durability and timeless aesthetic appeal to its ease of maintenance and sustainability. At Vienna Woods, we provide a wide range of oak flooring options to meet your needs and help you create a beautiful, lasting foundation for your home. By investing in oak flooring, you not only enhance the comfort and elegance of your living space but also increase the value and appeal of your property. With proper care and professional installation, your oak floors will continue to impress and perform for decades to come.

Grand Designs NZ, The Checklist
I’ve been watching a lot of Grand Designs New Zealand, and I’ve worked out the official checklist for all the rich Pākehā on the show:
Backgrounds: your choices are exposed wood, grey concrete, and black paint. You can have whatever combo you want of the first two but the black paint must be included. Remember, colour is the enemy. You want to live in the black and white world of a first year photography student. If you want to go crazy maybe some white paint is an option.
Windows: this is what your house is for. It is merely a container for windows. These are floor to ceiling in every room possible. Your bedroom is a glass cube, your bathroom is an open stage. There must always be windows.
Furniture: minimal on minimal. Are there two of you? You will have exactly two disconnected leather chairs in your living room. Your dining table and chairs are made of the hardest uncushioned wood possible. There is a hard limit of 1 side table per room. If you must have bookshelves they are single, isolated shelves with two books you never read and a plant on them. Remember, houses are for showing people how little you have, not for living in.
TV: there is NO TV. TV is for poor people, who do not own brutalist mansions. You spend your time sitting in one of your two isolated chairs, staring out onto the land you won’t allow others to set foot on.
Chandelier: there must be a chandelier. You need to show your fun and colourful side (not with actual colour of course). Pick whatever is hardest to clean and put it somewhere impractical like over a bathtub. After all, your hands won’t be cleaning this, obviously.
Timeframe and Expectations: always remember, you are above others, for you have money. COVID restrictions? Not a consideration. Supply issues? That’s for the poors. Design flaws? You are flawless. Demand the most impractical design you can and ensure everyone knows you expect it finished by Christmas.
Setbacks: always tell everyone how put out you are by any setback. These are personal attacks on you, and your suffering is unmatched within this world. You have sacrificed so much, having to do things like taking the advice of professional builders or god forbid renting for a couple months while the house is built. No one knows pain like yours, and this must be explicitly stated every chance you get.
Completion: finally, it’s done! Make sure you mention how much you compromised your impractical designs and how grand this makes you. Now you can show off your house and exclaim how unique and out of the box your black metal roof is compared to other rich people’s black metal roofs, and how your empty living room with two chairs and a table is the cosiest space imaginable. Now you can enjoy your home for years to come, or at least whenever you aren’t overseas in luxury hotels.

Rated R For Redhead, Part I
NicoMaki, Love Live, 1.1K, 1/2
Summary:
Maki and the gang are off to help Nozomi with her portfolio, a lumberjane weekend photoshoot. Nico can't go and Nico definitely doesn't approve.
Rated R For Redhead, Part I
Maki couldn't help being excited about this road trip to her family's camp. Even if it did involve posing for Nozomi's portfolio. She needed a break from campus, classes, and her parents. Too bad Nico was busy. The long drive would have been more fun with her teasing humor.
M: Umi gets carsick if anyone goes over the speed limit.
M: She'd better not throw up in my car
M: I mean there's solidarity and then there's …
N: Solidarity?
M: nvm
N: Okay.
N: Nico's paper is crushing Nico.
N: Why can't Nico cite Naver and Korean news article as sources?
M: What's the topic?
N: Pop stars breaking out into other forms of performance but Nico's prof refuses to scknowledge Kpop is peak culture
M: Poor Nico (。ŏ_ŏ)
N: Nico's fine. Stupid prof just proving how last century they are. The future is international.
M: Umi's yelling at Honoka now.
N: That can't be fun.
M: No (〇_o)
N: What's Kotori doing?
M: Fake sleeping on a yellow pillow.
N: Staying out of it.
M: Yep. I'm putting my headphones on.
N: Take snaps of your cabin. Nico wants to see.
M: (^^)b
N: And be careful around Nozomi, especially when she has a camera.
N: Menace.
M: It's a photoshoot, Nico. The entire point is for her to have a camera. Rin too.
N: Nico knows. But I also know Nozomi. She doesn't do boundaries around pretty girls.
M: It'll be fine. Eli will be there too. She can distract her.
N: Distract Nozomi from boudoir shots (;`O´)o
M: You worry.
N: ¯(⌣̯̀ ⌣́)/¯
M: I'm fine. We're all adults. We can take care of ourselves.
N: You have no idea what curves like yours do to brains like Nozo's
M: What>
N: Probably no brains involved
N: just glands
N: And hormones
N: DO Nico a favor. Just wear a parka.
M: YOu're very silly (。ヘ°)
N: You're naive
M: I'm not
N: (-。-;
Nico to Nozomi
N: Keep your pervy camera lens away from Maki
Nz: Put a ring on it.
N: WOuld that stop you?
Nz: No.
N: (ノ`□´)ノ⌒┻━┻
Noz: Snowball fights, chopping wood, lots of flannel and flexing.
N: …
N: Doesn't sound so bad.
Nz: And the post bubble bath pillow fight.
N: I hate you ヽ(`Д´)ノ
Nz: Have fun researching Lady Gaga (☆ω☆*)
N: at least Oscars are proof of "international mainstream acceptance."
#
Maki stretched. Too early. She pulled a sweatshirt over her tank top, straightened her snowflake pajama pants, and slid her feet into reindeer slippers. Bedrooms were on the second floor with the kitchen and open living area below. Maki yawned. What had Nico said last night? Be careful? Silly Nico.
"Good morning, Maki!" Nozomi's cheerful drawl greeted her as soon as Maki stepped out onto the landing. "Nice hair."
Grunting, Maki raised a hand to her head. Tousled, knotted, obviously no brush help at all. Maki had been too focused on her need for coffee..
"Your wardrobe needs…" Nozomi gestured at her own shirt, denim, half unbuttoned, "less. I was promised flannel and tank tops. And cleave. Major cleave." A smirk.
"Nozomi!" A shout came from the sectional.
"Don't worry, Eli. You don't have any competition. I've measured."
"You haven't." Eli was probably pouting. Maki shook her head.
"With my eyes."
A cough. Umi was standing, looking uncomfortable, in the kitchen entryway. "Kotori will have breakfast ready in five minutes. Juice and coffee are currently available."
A force whomped into Maki, pushing her too close to a dangerous fall down the stairs.
"Maki Maki Maki, this is so much fun. This place is the coolest."
"Let go." Maki struggled with Rin's grapple grasp.
"You're such a grumpy cat in the morning. Kayo-chin's the opposite, sweet and…"
Maki ran downstairs.
#
A waffle bacon apple butter sandwich and coffee mellowed Maki's mood enough that she was ready to deal with Nozomi's costuming request for the photoshoot. Strange to be a subject when she enjoyed framing shots herself so much. But she hoped this experience would help her understand the perspective of models. Taking headshots had often been awkward, stiff conversations making for sub optimal poses. Nozomi had such an easy confidence in her abilities and chatter that Maki hoped she might pick up a few suggestions. But right now, she needed to do something about her hair. Every time she caught a glimpse of herself in a reflective surface, different tangles stood up. Roving cowlicks, herds of them. Rin would giggle.
As she got into her room, her phone pinged. Nico. Extra frazzled. Video call. She wasn't even wearing makeup. Just a ball cap and a hoodie as she speed walked somewhere on campus.
"Nico needs the library. Have you been sexually harassed yet?
Maki flopped on the bed. "No. Just breakfast so far."
"Is that what you're wearing? Good."
Maki laughed, "Nozomi demanded more "cleave.""
"Nozomi can shut the fuck up. And you can leave. Just get in the car and flee."
"But I said I'd help."
"There's…" Nico threw up her other hand. "five other consenting adults there. Nozomi won't die if you're missing. But Nico might die right now."
"From what? FOMO?" Nico was being ridiculous.
"Stress, Maki, stress. Stupid paper, stupid prof who needs magazine citations from 3 year old international issues, stupid pervy photoshoot, everyone having hot girl party fun but Nico, and Nico deserves a weekend off the most. But no one cares. Nico is very stressed."
"Walking is good for stress."
"So is you leaving."
"So it'd be okay if you were here."
"It be great if you were here. then Nico wouldn't worry."
Maki was getting tired of this. Nico was getting more and more upset. "What are you worrying about?"
"You."
"Why?"
Nico looked shocked, eyebrows shooting up, mouth open. Ridiculous. "Why? Why? Because someone needs to care, because Nozomi will absolutely take pictures you don't want anyone to see and show them to everyone, because…"
"I don't care. I can take care of myself."
"You have no idea, Maki. You're so…"
"What?" Now Maki was getting angry.
"Naive." Nico spit out. "You're naive. You have no idea how…"
"Nico." Maki snapped.
"What?"
"I can take care of myself. I'm fine. I will be fine. Even if we were dating, you wouldn't…"
Nico stopped. Maki almost felt a shift in the universe.
"Even if…" Nico glared.
"Jealousy's a stupid emotion."
"This isn't jealousy." Nico stomped, "I don't know how to explain to you. Nozomi doesn't think like you."
"Neither do you."
Nico glared at the ground, muttering something that sounded like "even if." Then her voice whipped out a dismissal.
"Nico has to go. Have fun with your friends."
Call ended. Dark screen. Maki had no idea what she was feeling so angry at Nico about.
A/N:
Wrote half of this awhile ago. Finishing it to get me back into a writing zone. Two questions. Please answer one or both. 1. I'm considering another Christmas piece so I want to know what do you like best about NicoMaki? 2. Which of my ongoing fics would you most like to see a new chapter of? I need to avoid doomscrolling here in the USA. Help me distract myself. And stay safe.

Why Waterblasters Are a Must-Have for Every NZ Property Owner
Owning property in New Zealand has its fair share of maintenance challenges, especially when combating the elements.
From moss-covered pathways to grimy driveways and weather-worn fences, keeping your property looking pristine requires more than just a regular hose and brush.
This is where Waterblasters NZ, also known as pressure washers, become indispensable tools for property maintenance.
The Power of Waterblasters
Waterblasters utilise high-pressure water jets to remove dirt, grime, mould, and other stubborn residues from various surfaces.
They come in different sizes and power capacities, making them versatile for residential and commercial use. The key advantages of waterblasters include:
Efficiency: Unlike traditional cleaning methods that can be time-consuming and physically demanding, waterblasters work quickly and efficiently.
They can cover large areas in a fraction of the time it would take with manual scrubbing.
Versatility: Waterblasters can be used on various surfaces, such as concrete driveways, wooden decks, brick walls, and even vehicles.
They can adjust their pressure settings to suit different materials, ensuring effective cleaning without causing damage.
Environmental Benefits: Using high-pressure water instead of harsh chemicals, waterblasters NZ are environmentally friendly.
They minimise the use of detergents and solvents that can harm plants and animals, making them a sustainable choice for property maintenance.
Practical Applications
Residential Use:
In residential settings, waterblasters are invaluable for:
Driveways and Pathways: Removing oil stains, moss, and algae buildup.
Decks and Patios: Cleaning wooden surfaces and removing mildew.
Fences and Walls: Restoring the appearance of weathered wood or brick.
Vehicles: Cleaning cars, boats, and bicycles quickly and effectively.
Commercial Use:
For businesses and commercial properties, waterblasters are essential for:
Building Exteriors: Removing graffiti, dirt, and pollutants from facades.
Parking Lots: Cleaning oil stains and debris.
Warehouse Floors: Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
Public Spaces: Keeping sidewalks and outdoor seating areas clean and inviting.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Right Waterblaster
When selecting a waterblaster, consider factors such as:
Pressure Rating: Higher pressure levels are suitable for tougher cleaning jobs, while lower pressures are safer for more delicate surfaces.
Flow Rate: Determines how quickly water is expelled, affecting cleaning speed and efficiency.
Portability and Storage: Look for models with convenient features like wheels and compact designs for easy maneuverability and storage.
Maintenance Tips
To maximise the lifespan and performance of your waterblaster:
Regular Cleaning: Rinse and clean the machine after each use to prevent clogging and corrosion.
Check Hoses and Connections: Inspect hoses and fittings for leaks or wear and replace them as needed.
Store Properly: Protect your waterblaster from freezing temperatures and store it in a dry, ventilated area.
Conclusion
Waterblasters NZ are not just cleaning tools but property maintenance and preservation investments.
Whether you're a homeowner looking to maintain curb appeal or a business owner striving for a professional image, having a waterblaster on hand can make a significant difference.
Their efficiency, versatility, and environmental benefits make them a must-have for every New Zealand property owner committed to keeping their surroundings clean and well-maintained.

Splash of Style: Unique Materials for Modern Kitchen Splashbacks
Splashbacks in the kitchen are now more than just a wall-to-countertop barrier; they are a crucial component of contemporary kitchen design. Additionally, designers and homeowners can both add a little individuality to their kitchens while keeping them functional by using unusual materials. In "Splash of Style: Unique Materials for Modern Kitchen Splashbacks," readers are introduced to cutting-edge options like glass, stainless steel, mirrored surfaces, and even digitally printed ceramic tiles that add creativity to the mix. The article goes into more detail about each material's advantages—durability and ease of maintenance—while offering illustrations that show how these distinctive choices create eye-catching focus pieces in any kitchen. Anyone can up their kitchen game with attractive yet useful backsplash options with the help of this guide, which will definitely impress guests and make regular cooking activities more fun.
Tumblr media
How a Unique Kitchen Splashback Elevates Your Decor
When it comes to decorating your kitchen, the splashback is often an overlooked element. But choosing a unique and eye-catching splashback can make all the difference in elevating your decor. A well-chosen kitchen splashback not only protects your walls from splashes but also adds texture, colour, and interest to your space. One way to elevate your decor is by selecting a bold and colourful tile for your kitchen splashback in Auckland. With so many options available today, you're bound to find a design that complements or contrasts with your existing cabinetry and countertops. From geometric patterns in bright hues to hand-painted tiles featuring intricate designs, there's something for every style. Another option is incorporating eco-friendly materials into your kitchen design. Recycled glass or metal tiles are durable and sustainable options that add visual interest while reducing environmental impact. For those who prefer natural materials like wood or stone, consider reclaimed timber or salvaged marble instead of newly sourced materials. Updating the look of your space can be as simple as swapping out an old backsplash for a new one! By taking advantage of unique materials for modern kitchen splashbacks, you'll create an inviting atmosphere that reflects both function and beauty at once.
Using Colorful Tiles to Create a Striking Kitchen Splashback
Adding a splash of colour to your kitchen can be an easy and cost-effective way to update the look and feel of your space. One way to achieve this is by using colourful tiles for your kitchen splashback in NZ. Tiles come in a variety of colours, patterns, sizes, and shapes that allow you to create unique designs that fit perfectly with your style. Whether you choose bold solid colours or intricate patterns, colourful tiles will add personality and character to your kitchen. You can mix different shades and textures of tiles to create a one-of-a-kind design that complements your cabinets, countertops, appliances, or flooring. For instance, if you have white cabinets and black countertops, adding blue or green tiles as the backsplash creates a stunning contrast. Moreover, coloured tiles are durable and easy to clean making them ideal for areas exposed to heat splatters from cooking pots or pans. They are also resistant to moisture which makes them perfect for use behind sinks where water may often splash. Adding colourful tiles as part of designing our kitchen backsplash not only adds aesthetic value but functionality too - it's stylish yet practical!
Eco-friendly Choices for Your Kitchen Splashback
Tumblr media
The kitchen splashback presents an opportunity to showcase creativity and style through its design. This presents an opportunity to showcase your personality while safeguarding the walls from unsightly splatters and stains. Could you suggest considering an environmentally conscious option?
There exist numerous sustainable material alternatives that can be utilized for your kitchen splashback, including but not limited to recycled glass, bamboo, and repurposed wood. These materials not only minimize waste but also introduce distinctive textures and hues to your environment.
Opting for tiles composed of natural materials such as clay or stone, as opposed to synthetic alternatives, is an additional means of contributing to a favourable environmental outcome. This category of tiles necessitates lower energy consumption during the manufacturing process and exhibits a prolonged lifespan in comparison to its counterparts.
However, adopting environmentally conscious practices does not necessarily entail compromising on visual appeal. One can produce aesthetically pleasing designs through the use of eco-friendly options by strategically incorporating patterns, colours, and shapes that harmonize with the existing kitchen decor.
Integrating sustainable elements into your home design can serve as a significant step towards conserving our planet's resources. Why not commence with the installation of your kitchen splashback?
