Track 11: Comfort from others

Synopsis: Victoria Shard was a former member of the popular idol group [ Poisoner ] from NRC corporations. After discourse with her group leader, Victoria decided it was best for her to leave and pursue her solo career in a record label run by her parents.

It had been half a year since her separation from her old group, and Victoria had never been more successful. But now she has a new problem. She must return to NRC corporations in order to mentor the seven idol groups.

Ellis Clawthorne is a member of [ (Co)-connect ] the most recent group under NRC'S belt. With no experience as an idol, Ellis must persevere in order to succeed and pursue her dreams.

Will both girls be able to adapt to their current situations?

Author's note: Woo! Track 11! Victoria's finally gonna get comforted after what Vil said in the previous track, and from Jiyoon no less!

Circe will likely make an appearance in the next track, since I feel like it'll be impactful if he happened to listen to Victoria's new song and realize she's the mentor Vil was ranting about.

I'd recommend that you guys listen to 'Young and beautiful' by Lana del Rey after reading this. Since it's such a beautiful song alongside Lana's outstanding vocals. Which is why I chose her for Victoria's English singing voice

Y/N continues to be an asshole, and he will unfortunately make an appearance in one of the future tracks after I subtly reference and foreshadow his involvement in the plot

She was crying, and the minute she slammed the door of her bedroom shut, she broke down into nothing but unfathomable tears.

But, why? Why cry over the words of someone who rarely cared about her in the first place?

Victoria didn't know…. And frankly, she'd prefer it if she didn't find out.

As the tears continued flowing, it brought her back…. Before she was an idol. When she was a child, with only one friend.

And it hurt her even more for those memories to come flooding her mind. It made her feel even more pathetic than she already was.

".... Why…" was what she asked herself. Why are you crying, sweet soul? Her thoughts flooded with memories of her childhood, of the fighting, the resignation…

It all tried to run back to her all at once.

But she suddenly heard knocking from behind her bedroom door. When she first heard it, with her red eyes, she felt startled.

And yet…. She recognized that knocking pattern.

Almost immediately, Victoria stood up and composed herself. Once she was done, she opened the door to see a familiar but heartwarming face.

Jiyoon.

"It's good to see you again, Victoria-nim." Jiyoon greeted with a softness to her facial features that felt oddly comforting to Victoria.

"J-Jiyoon…"

She didn't expect it, Jiyoon never predicted that she'd find herself being hugged by Victoria after having not seen each other for months.

"Please, come in." Although her smile appeared genuine, Jiyoon couldn't help but acknowledge the redness in Victoria's eyes. Nevertheless, Jiyoon politely nodded and entered Victoria's room.

Noticing her stunned expression, Victoria chuckled."It is different from the room I had from [ Poisoner ]...." Victoria murmured and took a seat on the side of her bed, gently patting the space next to her.

Jiyoon complied and sat next to Victoria to catch up on things before they could resume other topics.

Once all of that not-so-pointless small talk was flown over their heads, Jiyoon now found it to be an appropriate time to ask Victoria…

"Were you crying?"

She noticed Victoria's expression and body language from how she reacted. The stiffness in her posture, down to the solemn look on her face."You were…. Weren't you?" Jiyoon felt more guilty when she saw Victoria essentially force herself to nod at her question.

"Ah…. It was because of Vil, wasn't it?"

"You could tell?"

"I think you and I are aware of how ruthless he can be. And of how pretentious his behavior can get when paired with his pettiness."

Victoria let out a tired, dry laugh."I suppose." She responded, looking down at the floor.

Jiyoon pursed her lips, inching closer to Victoria."I can tell that his words continue to affect you." The softness of Victoria's smile was enough to tell Jiyoon so much with such few words.

".... I think you can tell I still dislike him."

Jiyoon huffed in utter amusement.

"Trust me when I say I despise him just as much as you do."

"Good to know…"

The silence emerged from its depths, filling the room with an undeniably uncomfortable atmosphere that put the two young women on edge.

"He should stop trying to be the victim about something that happened half a year ago, at least you're still trying to move on from that." Victoria listened intently to Jiyoon's words.

"It seems the fans are still hung up on that as well…"

Jiyoon hummed, folding her arms together with sheer disappointment for her former fans.

"Shame on them. It happened half a year ago, they should be focusing on their own lives instead of being hung up on an idol's personal life."

Seeing Victoria's endearing reaction to her words, Jiyoon's irritated look in her eyes softened. Appearing more comforting.

"If Vil continues to torment you about such matters…. I'll slap him as many times as I can."

She giggled, returning Jiyoon's smile with an equally heartwarming grin.

"I'll take you up on that."

"So…. What are you doin'?"

Zen tilted his head and rested it on Victoria's shoulder, causing her to chuckle a bit.

"Simply finishing up the single I was planning two months ago. I had to adjust the lyrics for a bit." She explained, casually giving the notebook to Zen.

As he read through the lyrics, Zen's expression shifted with pure bemusement."Young and beautiful, huh?" Zen said, reading the title of the song.

"Yes…."

"Is it a love song?"

"It can be interpreted as one if the listeners' likes."

Zen frowned and brushed that off quickly.

"Are you done with this? It already looks pretty promising."

"I just need to write the bridge of the song and I'll be able to pitch it to the rest of the producers to have its studio recording. alongside a music video."

"Ambitious with a hint of excitement. That's what I love about you, Tori!"

The two of them chuckled beneath their breaths, before shifting topics to prolong their conversation.

Zen sighed, resting his head on Victoria's lap."I have some very sad news…" he breathed dramatically, resting the back of his hand over his eyes.

Victoria pursed her lips."And what makes the news so sad?" She asked, "Let me guess, it's about that actor you and Ellis were going to pair me up with?"

Zen inhaled a low but sharp breath.".... Possibly…" he shifted his gaze to the side, avoiding any prolonged eye contact with her.

She sent him a deadpan expression."You've got to be kidding me…" she mentally facepalmed, sighing heavily.

Zen pouted."How was I supposed to know Aguri Harper hated you and [ (Co)-connect ]!?"

"One, that's his pseudonym. Two, his actual name is Y/N L/N." She replied curtly, gently moving the strands of hair that covered Zen's face.

He smirked."So you know his real name, huh~" he teased.

"Don't try to make it sound romantic. It's quite literally in all of his social media platforms, he just prefers to be referred to by his pseudonym."

Zen whined."I was just trying to make it sound romantic, y'know! Who knows, maybe you'll end up liking him." Victoria sighed heavily after hearing Zen's words.

"I doubt that."

Victoria let out a hum, gently smiling at Circe."Thank you… It seems you and Jiyoon share the same thought." She commented, making him smile a little more.

Circe chuckled."Can you blame us? That song's Grammy-worthy material." He sent her an encouraging smile that was enough to widen her ghostlike one.

"I see…."

"Anyway, I saw those posts Zenith made about you and… A certain actor."

She inhaled, knowing where the conversation was going. Circe put down his guitar and sat a little closer to Victoria.

"...."

"Listen, I'm not judging you based on the kind of guys you're seeing, but-"

"Eh? Whatever do you mean?"

Circe deadpanned at her."Vic, I'm not gonna be rude here, but your chemistry with Aguri Harper is a little too strong. It's almost unsettling."

She squinted her eyes."Circe, don't get the wrong idea…" she murmured in response.

"I'm trying, but it's kinda hard not to assume you're in a relationship with that guy." He bit his inner lip in irritation.

Victoria sighed softly, gently ruffling his hair."I can assure you that I don't have that kind of relationship with Aguri." She promised. Circe couldn't help but notice her smile.

It became even more ghostlike. Almost invisible.

He smiled awkwardly, looking away."Right…. We'll just disregard the fact that you're on a first-name basis-"

"Circe!"

"Pffft-"

Mayuu hummed proudly, satisfied with the success of her mentor's music video. She knew she didn't need to worry since she isn't Victoria's manager, but she couldn't help but want to support her nonetheless.

Yuuta snickered, playfully leaning his head against Miren's shoulder. The latter sent him a bewildered look."Looks like Mayuu's in a good mood~" Yuuta said.

Carol didn't bat an eye, refusing to look away from her book."Can you blame her? Any type of success for our group would be able to put Mayuu in a good mood." She replied emotionlessly, continuing to read her book.

Yuuta shrugged lazily, scrolling through Twitter before he frowned."I think we gotta start deleting the hate comments…" he muttered.

Miren raised a brow and looked at the contents of Yuuta's phone. Not long after, he frowned as well. Albeit with an irritated expression.

"I agree…."

Mayuu sighed."I'll take care of that issue. In the meantime, you all rest up before our next charity concert in the next couple of weeks." She pushed up her glasses, beginning to type in her phone.

"But on the other hand…" she sent Yuuta a look of disapproval."Stop flirting with Miren on Twitter. We don't need any rumors swirling around…"

Yuuta gave her an amused smirk."Can't help it, little miss manager. He's just too cute~" he teased, giving Miren a wink.

Ignoring his words, Chizuko looked around."Huh…. Where's Ellis?" She asked, expecting no answer.

Juvia walked inside, still in her pajamas."Oh, she's hosting a podcast with Mr. Zenith…" she quickly answered, walking into the kitchen for a cup of hot cocoa.

Carol huffed."Let's hope things aren't too chaotic…"

Yuuta rolled his eyes, leaning against Miren's shoulder once more and holding him affectionately.

"We can't guarantee that, Miss Ann.."

Ellis cackled from the unexpected yet utterly hilarious joke Zen cracked.

"Hahaha! True, I couldn't help but find Carol running into a wall while reading, a bit amusing too!"

"Hehe, see?"

Zen leaned against his hand, giving Ellis a playful grin and a peace sign. To which Ellis responded with a heart sign.

She liked the podcast. Very much, actually. It felt nice to have a sort of side career aside from being an idol.

Being a podcaster made her feel a little free. To express herself more widely while discussing topics that she's always wanted to talk about. Even if they were a little odd.

Hell, Ellis loved being a podcaster. She just holds back her neverending joy about being one.

As Zen ended the podcast from there, he sent Ellis a happy-go-lucky-looking grin. And she easily sent him an equally playful smile.

Zen snickered."I'm liking this podcast thing so far. I could get used to this!" He exclaimed.

Ellis nodded, equally as enthused."Mhm! It's only been a week since we first started this weekly podcast, and I already love it." She commented, taking off her headphones and preparing to leave the room.

After picking up his phone, Zen sighed almost dramatically."We gotta hurry, though… Mayuu's gonna scold us for not coming back after our usual curfew.."

Ellis snorted."True- But other than that, I can't wait for our next podcast together!!" She cheered, fighting back the urge to jump up and down in a sort of childish manner.

Zen felt a pleasant smile grace his face.

"Yeah…. Can't wait to continue working with ya, Ellis~!!"
