POV: You're a uni student who ardently admires a boy in one of your lectures. How is that going for you?
pairing: reader x yang jungwon
WC: 799
(one-sided, slight angst, horrific yearning, wrote this while listening to 'love' by Keyshia Cole, inspired after seeing Honey Glazed Jungwon at the Coachella stage)
It's Tuesday, 09:30. You're sitting in your lecture. The Prof. is talking about something or other, but your focus is wholly taken by the boy sitting two rows in front of you, slightly to your left.
Yang Jungwon.
You've spoken to him once, maybe twice. In passing. Waiting for the lecture hall to empty from the previous class. But before you can establish a proper connection, introduce yourself; it's time to go inside.
He's pretty.
Fluffy dyed blonde hair. Deep, rich chocolate brown eyes. Yet, with the way the light catches them, you find yourself thinking of a sparkling, bubbly fountain of cola during summer, instead of a fathomless, dark lake. Regardless, you still get lost in them. But that's not what catches your attention. It's not his broad shoulders, or his adorable dimple, or his kind, demeanor, or how it's clear he works out.
It's his skin. Warm. Honey. There's something about it that complements his features. You yearn to be held in his arms, surrounded by his warmth. It fills you with the desire to stare, to ogle. It's not like he'd see you. You're sitting behind him, and he's always looking at what Prof. has to say.
You look back at your notes, already knowing that your focus is gone for the rest of the lecture.
The next time you see him, it's in passing on campus. You look away, knowing that if you made eye contact, your chest would constrict, and blood would rush to your cheeks. You don't know if he sees you. You don't even know if he remembers your name as you walk past him with practiced indifference.
That day, when you order your usual drink at the campus cafe, you add honey instead of sugar.
The next Tuesday arrives too quickly for your liking. You consider skipping the lecture, but a small part of your heart yearns to see him again. So, you go.
Same spot, like usual. It's routine. That's what keeps you grounded enough to go to your lectures. At least... that's what you tell yourself.
You don't think too much of it when you spot him around campus more often. You try to ignore how sometimes the sunlight would catch his skin, how it's like your world is skewed with golden light.
Rationally speaking, you barely know the guy. Just a few polite greetings here and there, and the occasional remark about the weather. You don't know if he remembers you or knows your name.
You next see him at the grocery store, getting groceries to take back to his dorm, or apartment (you're not sure). You stare for a moment, appreciating the sight before you. He was just pushing his cart, checking his grocery list on his phone, donned in a hoodie and sweatpants. So simple.
Maybe it's because you deprive yourself of the chance to properly admire him that you feel these things. You don't even realize you're lost in your thoughts until he's waving at you with a polite smile.
Shit.
Your throat feels tight, constricted with emotions fighting to be displayed. You feel your face and ears get warm, and you suddenly feel less aware of who is around you. Before it gets too awkward, you wave back, hesitant, then look away. You push your cart to the spice aisle, needing to top up on some house essentials. After that, you hurriedly go to pay. You needed to get some assignments done anyway.
The next Tuesday arrives. The dreaded 08:30 to 10:30 lecture.
You do a quick sweep of the lecture hall when you arrive, and you immediately notice that Jungwon isn't in his usual spot. You decide to sit in your usual spot anyway, assuming he's probably running late. Not that it matters, of course.
By the time Jungwon comes into the lecture hall, his usual seat is taken by someone else. You look at him briefly, when he's not looking at you, before turning back to your work. You look at the usually empty spot next to you, and for a fraction of a second, you let your heart hope, before pushing the idea down into your gut.
He finds somewhere else to sit, in the same row as you. About 8 seats to your left. You continue to focus on the lecture, not wanting to get caught by his wandering gaze.
It's near the end of the horrible two-hour lecture that you allow yourself the small luxury of looking at him. He's always the type to focus on the Prof. with those dark brown eyes of his, writing notes on his notepad, not wanting to miss a detail. He wouldn't notice your ogling. He never did. So, you quickly look at him.
You see his calm, focused gaze fixated on you.

POV: Yang Jungwon confronts you after the strange encounter during the lecture. Can your brain help you get out of this one?
Here are the first two parts: Pt1 (Your Pov), pt2 (Jungwon's POV)
pairing: reader x yang jungwon
WC: 1159
A/N: I guess I got inspired after watching En-drama ep2 and now it's 2AM again, was listening to 'First Impressions' by Shigeru Nagata (from the Studio Ghibli movie Ocean Waves) while I was writing this, Jungwon is kind of emotionally not so smart, Reader is a female, y/n has some braincells at least [i hope], I really tried, 'shit' is the only cussword used. Let me know if you want a pt4... I hope you enjoy! <3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S LOOKING AT ME!?'
You never thought that he would even cast a glance your way. Your predictions were wrong. WHY is he looking at you?! You hurriedly look away. You saw it. The smirk. That damn knowing smirk. 'Shit.' You knew you had to get out of here. Thankfully, there's only 3 minutes left in the lecture now, so you already start to pack your things.
By the time the professor dismisses you, you're already half-way out of your seat, ready to hightail it out of there.
You rush. Pushing past people, murmuring apologies. It's life or death. Your pulse is in your ears. Your hands are cold and clammy. The door is in sight. Within arm’s reach. You're going to make it.
At least, that's what you think, before a warm hand grabs your wrist and pulls you slightly away from the doorway.
'No. NO!'
(That metaphorical sound of glass cracking, is the last bits of your sanity breaking away.)
You hesitate, then look. Honey skin. Sparkling Cola. That damn smirk.
You feel your face getting warm before you can try to control it. Not that it would work, but because you wanted to try.
"Hi." He leans in slightly. 'Gosh, his voice sounds prettier- no. Focus. You're not some girl who's going to be taken by some pretty, charming- no.' You internally shake your head, perishing the thought.
"Hello." You respond, unsure of how this is going to play out. He chuckles.
"Why pretend? I know it's you." He says teasingly.
"Me? What do you mean?" You tried to push certainty in your voice, cringing as it tremored.
"You know what I mean. You're the one who's been staring at me during these lectures. You know that's creepy, right?" Jungwon says, calm. Confident. But not unbothered.
"You don't know if it was me looking-"
"We both know it was you."
You scowl. "Just because you saw me looking at you once, doesn't mean that I'm someone who spends the entire lecture slot looking at you."
"But this isn't the first time. (Y/N), right? I saw you at the grocery store the other day. When I caught you staring at me. You know, if you want to, you're free to take a photo."
Somehow, that's worse. You can feel your heartbeat stutter in your chest.
"And why would I waste my phone storage on that!?" You snap, trying to pull yourself out of this wreck, but somehow digging yourself deeper into it.
Jungwon smirks as he leans in a little more. "It's nothing to be embarrassed about, you know." Something you can't quite recognize flashes in his eyes when he does so. He realizes he's too close for decency's sake and straightens. "I'm flattered. Really. But I'd have to turn you down." He keeps his tone lighthearted, hoping that would soften the blow.
You sigh. "Turn me down? I didn't even ask you out or do anything that would make you think that I would."
"Your staring gave me enough information."
You roll your eyes, feeling like your mind is both reeling and a lump forming in your throat. You yank your hand away, and your fingers fiddle with the strap of your bag. "Well, it's not like matters anyway, right? I need to go." You leave, not wanting Jungwon to see your disappointment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Truth be told, Jungwon himself doesn't know why he grabbed your wrist. He could tell you were trying to leave, to remain unseen in his eyes, but the idea of just letting you go without talking about it made something in his chest twist and squirm. Luckily, he's fast, and was able to catch up to you in no time. He recalls how your skin felt under his hand. Soft. A little cold, most likely during the AC, but it wasn't deterring him from holding on.
During that conversation, he didn't realize he was leaning in like that until he caught the familiar hint of vanilla that usually clings to your form. Soft, subtle. It's not like him to just... lean in like that. 'The doorway is quite crowded, and considering we're standing close by, I want to make sure she hears me...' He thinks to himself.
If it wasn't for you yanking your hand away, he would've probably forgotten to let go.
'Why was I so eager to talk to her anyway? That's not like me... Most likely just excitement from finding out someone is interested...' He quickly rationalizes, as he watches you leave. 'Besides, I already turned her down. Life will go back to normal, and that's exactly what I need right now.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As soon as you got out of the lecture hall, you were already on your way back to your apartment. 'No ways. I'm never stepping a foot in that lecture hall again. Oh my gosh I want the earth to just open and swallow me at this point!' You wanted to hide under your blankets until the end of the semester. It was a broken record in your mind.
Honey skin. Sparking cola. That damn smirk.
You even recalled how he was looking at you before you were looking at him. 'It's not like there was a lot of time until the lecture ended anyway. It was like, what, 10 minutes? And he just had to be looking at me at that time. Wait. Was he already looking at me?' You pause, letting your mind go through the moment again, with purpose. 'He was. Wait a moment.' You pause, going over the entire interaction in your head, driving in your car to your apartment. ' Why was I even... floundering like that? I didn't even need to- dammit, I assumed. I assumed he knew, and because I assumed he knew, I panicked... no... it wasn't mean to play out like this!' He was looking at me first! He even knows my name! You clutch the steering wheel tighter.
"Why didn't I ask him why he was- no! I could've deflected. Asked him why he was staring at me!" You exclaim, realizing you could've avoided this entire shame show if your brain decided to be aware during the interaction.
'Since that's what happened, I have no reason to be embarrassed. If anything, it just means that he should be embarrassed instead, and I need to prove to him- no. I don't need to prove anything to him. I... my first focus is getting through this semester. Come on, (y/n), you don't have to worry about a single thing. Besides, who wants to show up to class on Tuesday at 08:30 in the morning? I could sleep in instead... maybe join my friends at their Wednesday 12:30 lecture... that's it. It's all coming together...' By the time you get back to your apartment, your earlier turmoil has been resolved.
That next Tuesday, for the first time in 2 months, you skip the 08:30 lecture.

POV: Yang Jungwon starts to notice someone who appears to ardently admire him in one of his courses. How did it happen?
The first part is Your POV,
pairing: reader x yang jungwon
WC: 981
(is it really one-sided?, slowly noticing someone who wasn't seen by one before, wrote this while listening to 'For the First Time' by Mac DeMarco, one person requested pt 2 and now it's 2am and I got inspired, looked at Elle magazine pics of Jungwon, mentions of Heeseung, Reader is referred to as 'she', actual thoughts in internal dialogue? that's crazy, I'm pretending this is A03 tags)
(If you like this, I could try to piece a confrontation of sorts, or some type of slow burn thing?)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jungwon doesn't have to look behind him to know that someone is looking at him in his 08:30 lecture on Tuesday. He can feel it. 'That stare.'
It distracts him. Pulls his focus from what the Prof. is saying. He can't afford to be distracted. He needs to pass this class. If not for himself, then for the people who are looking at him, eyes filled with unspoken expectation.
When the lecture finally ends, he packs up quickly, and makes his way out of the lecture hall.
That same Thursday, he notices someone from his class, looking everywhere except in front of her. It's almost like she's avoiding looking at something, or someone. 'Strange.' He thinks, as he watches her walk past him, eyes on her phone. He remembers speaking to her a couple of times outside lectures, about the weather, or something. The memory is vague, blurry. But he does remember how pretty her eyelashes are, and the curve of her lips when she smiles, and the faint hint of vanilla that clings to her form. Small, irrelevant things.
The next Tuesday arrives painfully slowly for him. He just wanted to get it over, so that he could chill with his friends after the lecture. He could feel the person staring. He still doesn't know who it is. But a small part of him wonders, or hopes (he can't tell which one it is), it's that girl looking so intently at him.
At 10:30, the lecture ends, and like clockwork, he quickly packs his things, and goes to hangout with his friends.
His friend Heeseung likes someone he's seen hanging out with the girl from his lecture, so when Heeseung tried to constantly be in the background for the friend, he doesn't object much. It's not his fault if he sees her more often on campus.
She's more at ease outside the lecture hall, chatting with friends, laughing. He notices that her smile brightens up her face, and how she looks more... refreshed, pretty. 'She has a nice smile...' He thinks to himself during one of those hangouts with Heeseung and the rest of his friends.
Sometimes he's not with Heeseung, he sees her, and something in him is reluctant to look away. But he doesn't have time for distractions. He has things to do, goals to achieve. He doesn't know her that much anyway. He's barely spoken to her. Vaguely remembers her name. He just remembered that it somewhat suited her. He walks on.
It's Friday evening. His roommate is out, probably partying, or something. He would've gone, but he didn't have the energy. He needed to get some stuff from the shop too, so with minimal effort, he dons a hoodie and sweatpants. It's getting chilly anyway. He makes a short list of things to get on his phone, and then he's out.
Instant Ramen? Check.
Eggs? Check.
Peanut Butter? Check.
Strawberries? ....Ah, I need to get those still. Along with that chocolate sauce...
Jungwon pushes his cart in the store, mind half on his surroundings, half on the grocery list before him, as he makes his way to the fresh ingredients section.
His hand is almost by the strawberry carton he's going to take when he feels it.
That stare.
He looks around and that's when he spots her. She's already looking at him. 'Hmmm... isn't that...?' It's that girl from his Tuesday lecture. Looking at him, staring. He smiles politely and waves, unsure of what else to do, and it snaps her out of her reverie. She waves at him, face blooming with color, before she rushes off, somewhere further in the store. She looks cute like that. He thinks, but quickly shakes off the thought. 'No. I don't think stuff like that. Maybe Heeseung's crazy talk is getting to me. Focus... Strawberries, chocolate sauce.'
He watches her leave, but wonders if she's the person who's been looking at him all this time. He gets the rest of the items on his grocery list, then leaves the store. He knows he'll see her in the lecture next Tuesday.
Jungwon is running late.
He didn't mean to oversleep, really, but with late nights he'd been having, he figured his body really needed the rest. By the time he gets to the lecture hall, he notices he usual spot is taken. It irritates him a little. In the same way that one would feel if they felt they owned something that wasn't theirs, only to find someone else using it. (naturally).
As his gaze sweeps the lecture hall, his eyes spot that girl almost frighteningly quickly. He sees the spot next to her is empty, but decides against sitting next to her. It seems like something messy, and Jungwon knows he's not one for messy things. About 8 seats to the right of her, he spots an empty seat. He quickly makes his way there, and gets his stuff out just before the lecture starts.
For some strange reason, he can't seem to focus wholly on what Prof. is saying, his gaze darting back to the girl 8 seats to his right, every so often. Funnily enough, he hasn't felt that intense stare the entire lecture, and starts to wonder if he made the wrong idea by assuming this quieter, attractive girl was his not-so-secret admirer.
'10 minutes. I just need to get through that, then I can get some coffee.' He thinks to himself, gaze wandering to that girl once more. This time however, as he's looking at her, she gives him a quick glance. It's the type of look one knows isn't a random glance. It's pointed. Intentional. She clearly meant to look at him. She sees him looking at her, and freezes.
It gives him a shot of adrenaline, knowing that he was right, but also getting to look properly into her eyes.
He smirks.

synopsis: Jungwon has an unexpected interaction and realizes something.
Here are the other chapters (the ones that come before): pt1, pt2, pt3.
pairing: reader x yang jungwon
WC: 823
A/N: Can you tell I listened to 'Brought the Heat Back' by Enhypen when I wrote this? I tried to keep it a little shorter this time. Let me know if you'd like a part 5. I got inspired after watching that Face Reading of Enhypen (I think it's Korean Fortune Telling?) with Enhypen pre-debut. I'm thinking about making a taglist for this as well. Thank you everyone for the love and support! Happy reading. :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been three weeks since Jungwon saw you. It doesn't bother him, or at least, that's what he tells himself, but every time he didn't see you, he felt a lingering cloud at the back of his mind.
He even sits a few rows back from the row he saw you sitting at, just to get a different view of the class in hopes that it would get him out of his slump. It just so happened to have a good view of the door, so on the off chance that you came late, he'd be able to see you perfectly.
But you'd never show.
If his friends had to ask him about his sullen mood, he'd simply say he's tired. After all, who would catch feelings for someone after they already turned them down?
'It doesn't help that this weather is absolute hell. Who would even want to come to campus with all this rain, or the harsh grey skies?' He muses, his focus slipping for the last 10 minutes of the lecture.
When the lecture ends, he packs his things quickly, and leaves.
The cold campus air smacks Jungwon's face, and he internally curses himself for not bringing his jersey as he takes out his umbrella. He heads to usual coffee spot on campus, desperate for a mocha.
His mind is halfway between what work he needs to do in preparation for his semester tests next week, and whether he should have ramen for supper (again), when he sees his friend, Heeseung come out from his own lecture, Heeseung's crush, some other guy and... her. She's laughing at something the guy said, face brightening, lips smiling. Heeseung spots him and waves, beckoning him over.
"Jungwon. How're you doing?" Heeseung grins, clearly happy he's getting to spend time with his crush. "This is that friend in my lecture I was talking about...." He gestures to the girl he likes, but that isn't what captures Jungwon's attention.
You're still chatting with Jay, the two of you in your own world. It stands out to him more than it should. Your relaxed posture. Your cheery smile. Even the way you're talking. 'She's so... calm around him.' He thinks to himself, quickly comparing your and his interaction to what he sees in front of him.
Jungwon quickly shakes it off, and greets the friend, introducing himself to her. She greets back politely, then turns to look at you, who's still chatting with Jay.
"Erm... earth to Jay and (Y/N)? Aren't you two going to be polite?"
Jay looks at Jungwon and politely introduces himself, and you look at him, apprehensive.
"We already know each other." You say casually.
Your friend looks surprised, and Heeseung remarks about how it's a "small world".
It takes everything in Jungwons mind to not blurt the question that's burning the neurons in his brain about why you haven't been going to those lectures, until Jay offhandedly remarks about how it's nicer to see you in his Wednesday lectures instead of trying to tire yourself out with those god-awful early 08:30 ones.
Like something slotting into place, he realized that he was, in fact, disappointed that he wasn't seeing you in lectures. He looked at Jay and you, who are already back to chatting. The rain finally settles into cloudy skies.
Heeseung looks at Jungwon, slightly confused about his more serious demeanor, but brushes it off. "Uhh... we're going to sit somewhere and eat lunch... you wanna join us?" Heeseungs calm, but excited voice snaps Jungwon out of his reverie, and he nods half-heartedly.
"Sure, hyung. I was going to get myself a coffee anyway."
The group makes its way to the cafeteria, with Heeseung and his crush sharing an umbrella, and you and Jay each having your own.
Jungwon looks at you and Jay, chatting away, and notices things he didn't see before. Why would he? He's always about achieving goals, and learning, and improving oneself. He didn't give himself the time for simple, silly things like this. But he couldn't stop himself from noticing certain things. The sway of your hair as you walk, your bright eyes as you're talking about something you're passionate about. It's almost like masterpiece coming to form, showcasing your attributes.
The sun makes its first welcomed appearance for the day, and everyone lowers their umbrellas.
"Finally." Says Heeseungs crush, and everyone chuckles.
Jungwon looks to you, and what he sees makes his heart flutter. Your skin looks honeyed by the soft morning sunlight. It's ironic, considering you were laughing at something Jay said like a madman, but seeing you in such a state of joy, Jungwon realized he can't fool himself into thinking that he's only noticing you purely because he caught you staring at him.
But it looks like you've already moved on, chatting to Jay like your confrontation with Jungwon didn't happen.
'Dammit. This was not in my plan.' ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
