Tech industry jobs are growing fast, offering great pay, career growth, and learning opportunities. Women of color, sadly, have not been able to fully participate in this boom. While there are barriers to overcome, Women of Color in Tech is an indispensable resource for building a rewarding future in tech. Packed with inspiring stories and practical advice, this book shows you how to uncover the resources you need to succeed.  Host Siri Phaneendra interviews author Susanne Tedrick about her practical guide that will help women develop the blend of knowledge and skills needed for getting into tech--and staying there. Siri discusses her start-up, drawmylove.com, a company that allows people to create physical, short-form books. The platform is user-friendly and as simplistic as choosing a template for your specific occasion, customizing a character, and adding personal content. Bio: Susanne Tedrick is a technical specialist for a Fortune 50 technology firm. In her work, Susanne helps organizations understand the benefits of creating cloud-native software applications and modernizing their existing IT infrastructure through cloud computing and tackling the complexities that come with the process. Prior to her transition into the tech field, Susanne worked in administrative and operations roles with various companies within the financial services industry. Fiercely committed to community service and increasing participation of women and people of color in STEM educational and professional opportunities, she performs volunteer work for P-TECH and Black Girls Code.S usanne was the winner of CompTIA Association of Information Technology Professional’s 2018 Rising Star of the Year Award and a 2019 nominee for CompTIA Advancing Women in Technology Mentorship Guide Spotlight Award for her dedication in advancing the careers of future technologists. The Power of Community-RISE

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word “rise” more than 20 different ways, both as a verb and a noun. Hosts Andrea Smith and Siri Phaneendra interview 16-year-old singer-songwriter-musician, Isolde Fair with her poignant new song nominated for Hollywood Music in Media Award, “Rise.” A collaboration between Isolde and her multi-talented parents: her mother, the esteemed pianist and composer Starr Parodi, who co-wrote “Rise” with Isolde; and Jeff Eden Fair, Isolde’s father, who co-produced it with Starr. Andrea and Siri read The Gift of Community from Cynthia Brian’s award winning book, Be the Star You Are!® 99 Gifts for Living, Loving, Laughing, and Learning to Make a Difference. To be served, we must first serve others. To belong, we must first accept.  In the segment, In the Spotlight, Andrea highlights the courage and activism of John Lewis rising to build community. Bio: Isolde Fair Isolde Fair first gained recognition at age 13 with her composition and recording “To All The Little Girls.” The lyrics focused on a portion of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 concession speech dedicated to young women: “Never doubt that you are valuable…” The song reached Clinton herself, who wrote online of her appreciation of the sentiments expressed by Isolde. Subsequently, Isolde was courted by numerous media outlets eager to know how such a young girl created such a profound piece of art.  “Rise” focuses on using one’s voice for positive change, and the power that each person possesses to allow our voices to be heard against injustice—the unstoppable drive to never give up. It’s a message for people of all ages, but especially speaks to youth. Isolde has performed as an artist, singing in front of a full orchestra at Lincoln Center in New York City, as well as soloing on violin with members of Cirque du Soleil and in other high-profile situations. With so much raw, innate talent, and a bottomless well of visions and inspirations to draw from, Isolde Fair can only continue to rise.
