HEY NEIGHBOR PART 20 | HEY NEIGHBOR MASTERLIST
Sunlight streams down, shining in between gaps of the branches of the large tree you’ve nestled under, keeping cool under the shade as you turn the page of your book. The crisp spine cracks as you adjust your grip, taking a break to sip an iced coffee. You rest it carefully beside you, in the groove of the large root breaking up from the surface.
Central Park is active for a late morning, the chatter of people passing by, the carefree laughter of children playing in the distance. You wish you were as carefree as them. The book you’re attempting to distract yourself with is not working but still you force it, needing anything to take your mind off the events of the past weekend.
Normally you would be at work but an early email from Tony Stark alerted you to him being called away for the day and generously granting you a paid day off to “enjoy the weather.” You wish you could have appreciated it, having the chance to sleep in but doing so would mean you might run into Bucky and you couldn’t have that happen.
Instead you left for work as you normally would, stuffing a tote bag with a large book and a blanket. You treated yourself to breakfast, stretching the time out as much as you could before grabbing an iced coffee and finding a large tree to plant yourself under. You check your phone for the time, making sure you wouldn’t be late for your internship but no, you weren’t; in fact time was moving so slow you thought you gained an extra hour.
It isn’t fair that Tony Stark was so generous. You’d rather be working and had you known in advance you could have possibly rearranged your schedule with Elena but you weren’t the only intern so you had to wait.
And wait...
and…
wait.
A text from Wanda distracted you for a moment, though it really didn’t. Asking how you are only reminds you that you aren’t okay. You spent Sunday night crying your eyes out in her arms, wondering why you were so stupid to think Bucky could actually like you. You weren’t special, you were just a stupid girl who thought she could actually change someone; that somehow Bucky would veer from the path he’s always been on just for you!
What a joke. You cringe when you think about how pathetic you are. It was just sex, nothing more. Wanda was right, he’s probably wanted to fuck you from the start. The Music Man was an apt nickname for the man that played you like an instrument, knowing the perfect keys to hit, the chords you thought were opening your heart but really opened your legs.
Friendship never mattered to Bucky, no– James, the man who hid himself from the start, a dollar store recorder masking himself as a flute, whose only goal was to get laid.
Coming home that night your eyes were so swollen you could barely see. You huffed up the stairs not wanting Bucky to hear the ding of the elevator as it opened on your floor. You even separated the key to your apartment so the jingling didn’t alert him of your arrival home. The last thing you wanted to do was see him.
You turned your phone off long ago, not wanting to even see Bucky’s name flash on the screen let alone hear any of his excuses. He probably wanted to smooth things over just enough to keep things peaceful between you, hoping that if you were dumb enough you would forgive him and fall in line with the rotation of other women he fucks.
Well you weren’t going to be like any of them. Desperate women, running over the moment Bucky texts before they lose their chance. Throwing themselves at him, hoping he’ll change their mind and love them just like you thought he could love you. But there is no room for love in Bucky’s cruel black heart.
The following day at work you tried to hide your emotions. With makeup you camouflaged the swelling and painted on a smile but you couldn’t hide the truth from Steve. He sat with you over a tear filled lunch as you told him everything, making him swear to you that he would not talk to Bucky.
There may have been some guilt tripping involved reminding him how you wanted to confront Lillian after she cheated on him but you didn’t because Steve asked and trusted you not to. He suggested speaking to Bucky. “It doesn’t mean you have to forgive him.” Steve’s voice echoes in your head. “He’s your neighbor, you’re going to see him eventually. Wouldn’t it be better to work this out?” Steve might have a point but you’re not interested in hearing it right now.
He invited you to stay for dinner, and that night he and Peggy helped keep you distracted for a few hours. Only they and Wanda knew what happened and you wanted to keep it that way, not wanting to cause friction within the group. Thankfully Sam was working an overnight shift on Sunday because had he been there things would have escalated.
Sam is persistent and though he always means well you knew he would have tried to patch things up between you and Bucky on the spot. Knowing how you are you would probably have lost two friends that day, lashing out at their “help” so thankfully it hadn’t come to that.
You’re not even sure why you’re keeping this a secret. For all you know Bucky may have blabbed to everyone about what happened, and if he didn’t yet he probably would soon enough. For now, you decide not to share it with anyone else, burying what happened into the back of your mind, sealed by the iron door that should have been there to protect your heart.
The book holds your attention by gossamer strings as you reread the same lines over and over, lifting your gaze up to stare comfortably at the brightness of the world around you; bright green grass with pops of yellow and white dandelions sticking up, a cloudless sky that in no way reminds you of someone’s eyes. Looks like it’s time to go back to reading.
You ignore the sound of a guy yelling– nothing unusual especially for New York, but as the sound of his voice grew closer you decided to look up. Your eyes widened with shock as it was just in time to see what he was yelling about. It was too late to move so you braced yourself, the book dropping as a giant brown pitbull jumped into your lap, its bright pink tongue wildly licking your cheek.
“Get back here!” the owner huffed, finally catching up to the dog, grabbing the leash he had accidentally dropped. “Groot! I said get back here.”
He pulled the playful dog off you, sternly telling him to sit. “Groot, sit down, I mean it.” The dog stared back at his owner, tilting his head with innocence. The man rolled his eyes quickly before kneeling in front of you. “Are you alright? I’m so sorry about that.”
His eyes were as green as a picture perfect meadow as he stared back at you, with soft pink lips that turned down into a worrisome frown. He was handsome, sun kissed skin and golden brown hair, with the hint of dark stubble peppering his sharp jaw.
“I’m okay.” You choked on your words, finding it hard to stop the smile that was pulling at your cheeks.
“I didn’t mean to scare you. I know he looks intimidating but he’s a sweetheart, I promise.” The man smiled, looking back at his dog, panting with its mouth open. “I’m Peter, by the way.”
Your name floated from your lips to his ears and Peter smiled, a boyish grin that flashed pearly white teeth. “And you’ve already met, but this is Groot.”
The sound of his name made the dog perk up and rush forward towards you. Peter caught him in time before he could assault your face with his tongue again but he couldn’t stop Groot from spilling your coffee.
“Aww Groot! Come on buddy!” Peter whined.
“It’s okay,” you laughed, picking up the overturned container. “He wanted to say hello again.”
You stuck your palm out low so Groot could easily sniff it and quickly his jaw fell open with a grin, his wide tongue soaking your hand as he lapped at it. He nudged your hand with his large nose asking to be pet and you happily complied, scratching under his chin as his tail wagged back and forth.
Groot nuzzled into your lap, his heavy body rolling onto you in a plea to be pet more. Peter huffed in frustration, looking to pull his dog off you but the smile you gave him said you didn’t mind. Both hands worked on making Groot happy, scratching his ears and rubbing his chest. Peter joined in too, rubbing Groot’s belly and softly slapping his side. Your fingertips touched briefly, electric tingles racing up your arm.
Peter cleared his throat of the nervous lump that settled there, tugging gently on Groot’s leash to get off you. When he saw you began to get up Peter offered his hand. There was little hesitation when you took it, feeling his slightly calloused palms against yours. You looked away from him when you were standing, brushing off some dirt from your thighs.
“I’m sorry, again,” Peter grimaced, your clothes were dirty thanks to Groot’s dirty paws. “I feel terrible, can I buy you a cup of coffee… to make up for what Groot spilled?”
Maybe it was Peter’s big doe eyes anxiously awaiting your answer or Groot’s beaming smile but you said yes, picking up your things and walking with them a few blocks to an outdoor cafe. On the way you learned that Peter was a firefighter and looking at him you didn’t doubt it. He was tall (taller than Bucky), with a broad frame (bigger than Bucky) and large bulging biceps (also bigger than Bucky’s, though his came close).
You shake away thoughts of Bucky because you do not want to think about him. And why should you have to? Not when a very cute firefighter with an even cuter dog was pulling out the chair for you to sit down as you got to know each other.
He grew up in Missouri, raised by his mom up until she died from cancer. He was eight at the time but the slight crack in his voice he tried to clear away as he talked about her let you know how much she still meant to him.
“She called me her little star lord ‘cause all I talked about was that one day I was gonna be a space pilot.”
“So how’d you go from space to fighting fires?” you asked, smiling at him as you leaned in closer on the table.
The wait for an answer was interrupted by the server bringing your orders, another iced coffee for you, coffee with a shot of espresso for Peter and a big cup of whipped cream for Groot. Peter held the cup in his hand as Groot swiftly lapped away at his sweet treat.
“There was a fire at my grandparent’s house. I was about fifteen, sixteen at the time. I helped them get out and ran back to grab my mom’s old walkman. It’s all I had left of her.”
Peter paused, almost anticipating a comment about how stupid it was to do that but you were quiet, listening without judgment and understanding. He lifted his lips with relief and explained that after that happened he knew what he wanted to do, hoping he could save people and the homes that hold things dear to them.
“Plus my grades could probably never get me through the door at NASA,” he joked.
You and Peter spoke for the next hour, telling him about your jobs and interests. He was really easy to talk to, with no lulls or awkward silence in your conversation, and he made you laugh a lot which is something you sorely missed these past few days.
When it was nearing time to leave for work you exchanged numbers, giving Groot an enthusiastic petting and letting yourself be enveloped by the warmth of Peter’s arms for a big hug goodbye.
You were surprised to find yourself thoroughly distracted the rest of the day, with Peter in the forefront of your mind, your heart swelling with joy as you read a message he had sent while you were working.
Peter: Hey Y/N it was really great to meet you. I have another day off before my shift and was hoping we could talk again… maybe even see each other. It’s for Groot’s sake really.. I think he likes you.. 😉
A smile reached your ears and you were quick to respond. Yes, you think you liked Groot as well…
Messages exchanged back and forth on your way home and throughout the dinner you were preparing yourself. Your phone buzzed with Peter calling, preferring to talk as Groot decided to lie on top of him like a log, and it was hard to reach around him and type. You spoke until well past midnight and for the first night that week you fell asleep with ease.
Tumblr media
Peter stayed in touch throughout the next day and asked you out to dinner. It was last minute but you didn’t mind, the less time you spent at home the better. You decided to meet at a casual spot for burgers. The place was small with limited seating but you managed to grab a table on the end of a long row so you didn’t feel completely claustrophobic.
You didn’t mind sitting close to Peter, apologizing when your knee kept banging into his under the table, getting to see his big smile up close as he told you not to worry about it. He looked great, removing a sanguine red leather jacket for a form fitting dark t-shirt, smelled even better, like almond blossoms in the rain.
Peter was scheduled to work tomorrow, a typical 24 hour shift so he ordered his burger without fries not wanting to feel weighed down by the extra calories. The golden steaming potatoes tempted him from your plate and even though you offered him to have some he declined.
“I feel bad since you’re sticking with water,” you remarked, as your drinks arrived, his water with lemon looking a little boring compared to the iced cold beer that was brought for you.
“Don’t, it’s fine,” he said. Leaning closer the words fell from his lips in a low purr, “Besides I can always taste it from your lips.”
Fire erupted on your cheeks and luckily you were with the perfect person to extinguish the flame. You saved making out with Peter until after you left the restaurant; standing outside of your building with your hands scratching through his hair as his tongue caressed yours.
His lips pulled away with your soft moan still lingering on them, and as much as he wanted to continue this Peter knew he had to get some sleep as did you. Without any haste your hands let go of each other’s, fingertips still gently grazing as you pointed your hips towards the front door. Before you lost contact Peter grabbed your waist to pull you in for another kiss, because a few more wouldn’t hurt.
The elevator carried you upstairs even though it felt like you were floating and as you reached your door the bubble you were in burst immediately as Bucky’s door creaked open. You couldn’t open your door fast enough so you were stuck having to hear him call your name, a desperate sounding cry that reeked of insincerity.
“Can we talk?” he begged.
Through a narrow eyed glance you turned to face him, lips pursed tightly as you looked him up and down. Bare feet stuck out from the bottom of dirty sweatpants, his t-shirt was worn and wrinkled, and if you were being honest he didn’t smell great. Bucky’s hair was an unkempt mess with strands sticking up wildly in all directions and a thick shadow of stubble on his face.
For a moment your heart broke for Bucky until you remembered it already broke because of him. Ice set into your veins again as you stiffly replied, “I don’t think there’s anything to talk about.”
The vibration of your phone in hand rescued you from a conversation you didn’t want to have in the first place. Seeing it was Peter your face softened with a smile that was once reserved for Bucky.
“I gotta take this,” you said, opening your door without giving Bucky the chance to say anything else.
His shoulders slumped, sighing defeatedly as Bucky trudged back into his apartment. It didn’t help that he could hear you through the wall, your voice light and bubbly. He crawled back into bed, past the instruments left untouched for days because the thought of creating something was hopeless; a daunting task that required Bucky to give part of himself but there was nothing to give.
Part of his soul died the day you walked away from him, not letting Bucky explain the horrible coincidence of running into a person he never intended going on a date with in the first place. You ignored his calls, didn’t answer his texts and probably rappelled up the side of the building into your apartment to avoid running into him.
If you did answer, Bucky would have told you the truth, that he did make that date long ago, that he made a lot of dates he cancelled because no one was you. He would have told you how he stopped setting up dates, that he cancelled all the ones he remembered before deleting his dating app, how it had been almost two months since he had sex and how none of that mattered because all he wanted was to give you his heart.
Everything he said over the weekend was true and he hates the fact that you won’t give him a goddamn second to prove how much he means it. Bucky rolls over, pulling the blankets above his head. He clutches a pillow close to him, a poor comparison to the way your body fit perfectly against his, shutting his eyes tight as he hopes sleep will come for him.
Friday passes slowly, the hand of every hour moving at a half-dead snail’s pace. Bucky waits to hear you coming home, having missed the opportunity to speak to you in the morning because as the sun was rising in the sky his eyelids were finally shutting. He anxiously waits for the ding of the elevator, rushing to his door to open it ajar.
His heart races as he hears the sound of keys jingling closer, pulling his door open with all his strength he’s surprised he hasn’t ripped the hinges off. But instead of seeing you approach Bucky shrinks, deflated and embarrassed to have Shuri, the teenager that lives at the end of the hall with her family, see him looking disheveled. He smiled, giving a half wave, swearing he could hear her call him a “broken white boy” under her breath. He shut the door only to wait again.
When Bucky did finally hear you come in it was late and he was a second too late, opening his door as you shut yours. He sent a text hoping you would respond to no avail. He heard you through the wall, the sound of your closet opening, the creak of the mattress as you get in bed. Bucky’s palm presses against the cold wall. It hurts knowing how close you are and yet you’ve never been further apart.
It’s a beautiful Saturday but Bucky can’t enjoy it. He paces the hallway in front of the elevator and stairwell; he is not going to miss your arrival. It’s nearing the time you normally get home from Metro-General and he prays to anyone listening that you aren’t making any stops along the way.
He needs this. He’s desperate to tell you what happened, so you could see the truth flow from his lips, the tears fall from his eyes as he begs for forgiveness of the misunderstanding.
The elevator soon grants his wish as the doors open revealing you, like the lustrous pearl of an oyster and Bucky can’t help but smile. You on the other hand were not expecting to see him. Bucky was in the same clothes, his hair a little greasier, with stubble that had grown in more. The brighter lighting of the hallway did him no favors, accentuating the deep purple bags that settled under his eyes.
He starts off right away, begging for a moment to hear him out but you strode past him, ignoring the way Bucky ran up beside you like a lost puppy looking for a home. Realizing you weren’t going to stop Bucky ran ahead, blocking your door with his body as he implored you to listen.
“No!” you barked sternly. “Get out of the way Bucky.”
He didn’t move and both of your frustrations grew. “You need to listen to me Y/N, you’ve got– ”
“Don't tell me what I need to do Bucky. You need to get out of the way.”
Not only did Bucky not move but he tried to grab your hand. You snapped it away, gritting through your teeth about how serious you were. You didn’t want to raise your voice and cause a scene with your neighbors if you didn’t have to.
“I just want to talk.” His voice was tight and Bucky fought hard to stop the tears from burning their way to his eyes.
“Well I don’t want to. Move. I have a date to get ready for.”
You stood firm, wondering if you would have to resort to having Clint come down and make Bucky leave, or worse, Natasha, but Bucky stepped aside, letting you enter your apartment without another word.
The slamming of the door masked the sound of the bubbled cry he let out, tears streaking down his cheeks. Hours later he heard a voice at your door, devastated to know you were telling the truth about your date, and dying inside at the sound of lips smacking together. He gave it a moment and opened his door quietly to see you walk hand in hand with some guy down the hall.
Bucky goes back inside, back to the safety of his bed, where he swallows Benadryl and soaks his pillow with tears as he falls asleep.
He dreams of better times, of your smile, of your touch, of all the days you spent together because in his dreams is the only place he’ll have those again.
He’s lost you.

You paced your living room as you were waiting for your boyfriend Hawks to return home after his shift. He recently became the #2 Hero after All Might’s retirement which came with a big responsibility as he was being called out for more missions. You were fine with this and knew what you signed up for when the two of you first started dating about a year ago. You noticed that your sleep schedule was slightly off since you were staying up late at night waiting for Keigo to come home safe. Some nights he would be coming home when the sun was coming up, others he would only be gone for an hour or two.
Recently, you noticed how the fame and him being on the news had been getting to him and going to his head. He had begun to prioritize whatever big showy villain that had been appearing in the news over you. He also began to sneak off at night after he thought you had gone to sleep. He also would make random trips to the nearby store asking if you wanted something while he was gone. He also began to forget about important date nights or weekends that the two of you had planned. After weeks of putting up with this, you decided that tonight you were going to confront him about it. You heard something land on your balcony and your back door slide open. You stopped your pacing and folded your arms across your chest and stared at your boyfriend as he entered your home.
“Oh, Hey, baby bird. I didn’t think you’d be staying up for me. I would’ve messaged you to tell you that I was going to be late tonight.” He chuckled as he closed the door behind him and walked to you to give you a hug and a kiss. You pushed him away.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as he was a little hurt that you pushed him away. You took a deep breath and cut straight to the point.
“Why have you been sneaking off at night? Also, you have been forgetting special date nights. You forgot our One-year anniversary! Am I that boring to you now that you’ve decided to delve yourself into your work?” You asked him then and there with your voice wavering and tears threatening to fall from your face.
“Listen, I’ve been busy as I’m the #2 Hero now. I want to protect people from villains that seem to be popping up like weeds recently and I want to spend time with you. But how can the world be safe unless I’m there to help keep the villains from wrecking the city? I also have to keep up my reputation and if I don’t keep taking down villains, that might affect my income from the Commission.” He explained. That made your heart break into a million pieces.
“That doesn’t mean that you have to shove me to the side and keep going to the spotlight just so then you can have more money. Can’t you ignore the calls once in a while?” You asked him as you felt hot tears stream down your cheeks, and you pushed him away again.
“You know I can’t do that!” He spoke in a raised tone which made you cower in front of him as he raised and flared his wings at you. He saw you cowering in front of him, and he lowered his wings. He tried to reach for you to apologize and comfort you, but you smacked his hands away.
“Get out.” You told him. He looked more hurt as he backed away from you. He went out onto the balcony and took off. You fell to your knees bawling your eyes out. You let your tears dry before you called a friend asking if you could stay at their house for a few days since things weren’t going well with you and Hawks. You went to your room and packed a bag with some essentials that you would need while you were gone. You then left the apartment and drove over to your friend’s house where you crashed on the spare bed your friend had and slept the rest of the night.
§§§§§
You woke up the next morning to a dozen missed calls and text messages from Hawks wondering where you were. You decided to ignore him and go about your day. You had breakfast and showered before you went to work. Your phone continued to be spammed with messages from your boyfriend. On your break, you decided to call him back and tell him that you were fine and you needed some space from him for a while.
“How long will a while be? I miss having you around the house.” His voice sounded from the other side. He sounded like he had been crying and had gotten drunk too. You frowned since you thought that he stopped drinking when the two of you got serious. You let tears run down your face.
“I don’t know how long it will be. I need my space.” You responded and ended the call. You set your phone down on the nearby table and cried again. He was too needy and you guessed that he only wanted you around for appearances and to keep up his image to keep the media from putting him in a bad light.
Little did you know that he was keeping a big secret from you.
About a week or so later, you moved back to your apartment and had your friend help you gather up Keigo’s things and put them outside your building near the trash can. Your friend left your apartment after his things were put near the trash and you had just enough energy to make yourself dinner and shower.
As you were sitting in front of your television eating dinner, your phone rang again. You sighed in annoyance and picked your phone up. It was your friend.
“I don’t know what you’re doing but turn on the news.” They spoke. You reached for your remote and switched the channel to the news. The news was showing Hawks fighting a large group of villains that seemed to be at the advantage point. You watched as he dived and sent out feathers from his wings to pin the villains to the ground. He looked bruised and beaten up. You didn’t know if you should be upset or not even care that the man that you thought you loved was fighting against a large group of villains on his own. You sat forward in your seat and watched the screen before you. He was eventually thrown into the ground and knocked out. That is when you turned the device off and sat back on your couch.
“Y/n? Are you alright?” You thought you heard your friend say from your phone that you had set down when you turned the news on. You held your head in your hands.
“I’ll be fine. I don’t know if I should be going to the hospital or staying here. I want to go be by his side but I also don’t want to give him or the media what they want.” You responded to your friend.
“Just stay where you are and keep watching the news. I’ll stay here on the phone with you.” Your friend told you. You trembled where you sat and turned the television back on. You saw that Hawks was now being loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher. He looked bloodied and beaten up. You let the tears fall down your face as you watched the scene play out on the screen. You felt frozen to your couch, paralyzed by seeing the one that you loved being carted off to the hospital. You stood up and went into your bedroom to get changed. You were going to the hospital. A tiny part of you still cared about him. You couldn’t deny it. You were sure about it. You walked out of your bedroom and to the couch where your phone still laid on the call with your friend.
“I’m going to the hospital. A tiny part of me still cares for him.” You spoke.
“If you say so. Be safe, Y/n. Call be back with details later, ok?” They spoke. You agreed and hung up before you left your apartment and drove to the hospital. You parked your car and ran into the hospital. You asked the front desk what room Hawks was in and you were told that he was in surgery. You were guided to a waiting area that seemed void of people. You sat alone and texted your friend what was going on. You looked around the room before you focused on the nearby television and listened to the news as it wrapped up the incident of the group of villains attacking and Hawks being the only one that fought them. The screen showed recaps of him fighting the villains and how he didn’t let any other heroes help him and how one of the heroes called to Hawks saying that doing this battle alone was a suicide mission and that he needed help. Hawks ignored them and was now in a critical condition and in surgery.
Your focus was broken when someone with dark hair and a hood up that covered their face entered the room and walked past your line of vision. The person sat in the chair next to you and you swore the scent of burnt flesh and smoke filled your nose.
“So, you here waiting for the #2 Hero Hawks to come out of surgery? The nurses typically don’t let just anyone come into the waiting room for Pro heroes to be in recovery so they can be by their side. You must be his main squeeze. The one he takes to fancy events and show up in front of the media when he goes to a press conference.” The person spoke in a raspy voice. You stared at them confused and a little weirded out. You moved to go to a different seat but the person’s hand grabbed onto your arm.
“I believe it would be best that you stay where you are, doll. You and I need to have a little chat.” The person said in a firm tone. You sat back down and person’s hand moved off your arm.
“Have you noticed that Hawks has been leaving you absent more often? Divulging himself into his job and sneaking off when he thinks you’ve gone asleep? Well, honey, I’m one of those reasons why he’s been going off at random times. He doesn’t love you anymore. He doesn’t even like women. He only puts up that façade for the media. He’s been cheating you. I’m his true love. We’ve known each other since we were little kids so our bond is stronger than anything you think you’ll have with him. Now, I suggest you go home and don’t even think of contacting him again or I will find you and burn everything you love to the ground.” The person said.
You[jF1] turned to the person with wide eyes and noticed the surgical staples and pattern of burnt skin and the piercing blue eyes. This was the villain known as Dabi. Your mind raced with thoughts as you stood up and began to exit the hospital with tears streaming from your face. Some of the staff tried to stop you but you just wanted to get out of there. You went to the car and sat in the safety of the driver’s seat with tears streaming down your cheeks. You hiccupped and your crying turned into sobs that racked your whole body. How could he use you like that? He was cheating on you and not just with another woman but a man? You never picked up any hints from him that he didn’t like you. You just though because he became the #2 Hero that he was busier capturing villains and making the world a better place. The idea that he had been cheating on you did cross your mind. The encounter with Dabi confirmed it.
You waited for your tears to dry before you went back into the hospital and asked if Hawks was out of surgery yet. The nurse told you that he was and gave you his room number. You were a woman with determination as you made your way to the room where the hero lay now healing from the injuries he sustained in battle. You opened the door and sat quietly in a chair in the room to wait for Hawks to wake up. The wait wasn’t long as a few minutes later Keigo opened his eyes and looked at you.
“Hey, baby bird.” He said weakly. You laughed.
“Don’t “baby bird” me. You lying, cheating scumbag!” You told him. He sat up a bit and looked at you confused.
“What do you mean? What have I done wrong!?” He asked you.
“You were sneaking out at night to go get screwed or screw with a man! A man that’s a villain too!” You responded.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He told you.
“Don’t lie. I met him downstairs while I was waiting for you to get out of surgery. He smells of burnt flesh and smoke. He also has surgical staples keeping his skin together. Does that sound familiar?” You spoke with a hint of venom in your voice. Hawk’s eyes widened and he laid back on the hospital bed.
“I’m right, aren’t I?” You asked as you stood up from your chair. Hawks looked to you and sighed.
“Its not what you think. The commission asked me to infiltrate the League to gather more information. I might’ve slept with one or two of them to get leverage and gain their trust. But you, my love, are my one and only person that I’d love until the end of time.” He told you truthfully. You didn’t know if you should believe him or not.
“Keigo… We’re over. Feel free to go to where ever it is the villains are hiding when you’re discharged. I don’t want to see you for a while. I need my own space.” You spoke as your voice cracked and your heart sank to your stomach.
“Then leave.” He told you as he stared deadpan at the ceiling. You could feel your heart breaking. You backed out of the room and left the hospital.
You drove home and closed the door behind you and sunk to the floor feeling horrible and sad. You went to your freezer and pulled out a pint of ice cream, got into your pjs and proceeded to eat said ice cream in front of your tv. A few hours passed and your phone buzzed with a text from your friend asking if you were ok. You texted them that you and Hawks broke up. Your friend responded saying that they will be over with some pizza and more ice cream in about half an hour. You unlocked your door before you went to your room and laid on your bed to stare at the ceiling. You heard your door unlock and your friend call out to let you know that it was them. You watched from your room as they set the food on the counter and look for you. They kneeled down and made sure you weren’t going to do anything drastic and have you end up in the hospital. You told them that you wouldn’t and they hugged you before they left you alone to wallow about your loss. You ate some of the pizza and some more ice cream before you took a shower and went to bed.
You woke up the next morning and it was a struggle to pull yourself out of bed and get yourself dressed. You called in to work to tell them that you needed a few days off to only have your boss tell you that you could take as much time as you needed and to come back to work when you were ready. You were relieved then called your parents asking if you could come back home for a while. They asked why and you told them that you didn’t want to talk about it right then but you just needed to come home for a while and get away from the city. They agreed and asked when you’d be coming over. You told them that you’d be over this afternoon. They were excited that you’d be coming so soon and they would have their guest bedroom ready for you. You hung up with them and packed your bags. You locked up your apartment and left.
As you drove to your parent’s house, you listened to the news as heard that Hawks had been discharged from the hospital and was now spending time recovering in his home. You rolled your eyes and kept driving. You didn’t notice that Hawks was in a car following you.
§§§§§
You pulled into the driveway of your parent’s two-story log cabin that you remember them building just after you moved out. You exited your car as your parents came down the driveway and greeted you. They helped you carry your bags inside and help you get settled. Little did you know that Hawks had kept following you until your mom spoke up.
“Honey, do you know that vehicle?” Your mom spoke and gestured to the dark car that had been following you since the city.
“No. I don’t.” You responded as the car parked and the passenger side door opened and the last person, you’d expect to have seen exited the car.
“Y/n! It’s so glad to see you! I haven’t seen you since I was in the hospital.” Hawks spoke. It had only been a day. You told him you needed your space and he just violated that by following you out here. He followed you out to the place you thought you could get away from him and readjust your life and move on from him. But no, this sick fucker had to follow you like a little lost puppy.
“Mom, Dad, this is Hawks. You two know him as the #2 Hero. I know him as my Ex-boyfriend and a dirty cheating scumbag.” You told your parents. Your mom guided you inside while your father stepped forward to confront Hawks.
“Why don’t you and I take a little walk.” Your dad told Hawks as he guided him away from you. Your mom helped you get your bags inside and heated some water for tea. You sat on the bed as your mind raced. How did he get out of the hospital after one day? Was he that desperate to get back with you? You had told him that you needed space. Was he really that selfish? You shook the thoughts off and busied yourself by unpacking your bags and trying to get settled. Your mom came in with a hot cup of tea to help settle your nerves.
“Y/n, honey? Tea is ready. Why don’t we sit down and you can tell me what’s going on?” She suggested. You nodded and followed her out to the kitchen table where You unfolded the events that had happened over the past day and a half. As you were telling her what happened, you began to choke up and tears fall from your face. Your mother pulled you into a comforting hug just as Hawks came through the door.
“Y/N! PLEASE! I’M SORRY FOR WHAT I’VE DONE. I WOULD NEVER CHEAT ON YOU.” He exclaimed. You looked at him and was absolutely disgusted. You stood up and approached him.
“I am absolutely disgusted with you. You violated my space by following me out here! I want you to leave and I never want to see you again!” You yelled at him. Hawks, looking hurt, walked to the door, turned back to see your hurt and angry expression then he closed the door behind him. You sat back down in the chair next to your mom and you covered your mouth and let more tears stream from your eyes. Your dad put a hand on your back as sobs wracked through your body.
“You can stay here for as long as you need to, Y/n. You’re safe here from him.” You heard your dad tell you.
“I just want to go lay down.” You spoke as you stood shakily. Your mom helped you to your room where you laid down under your blanket and passed out.
You woke up again around dinner time and you groggily left your bedroom and went to the kitchen where your mom was finishing up your favorite comfort food.
“Hi honey, did you sleep well?” Your mom asked as you went to the kettle to make a cup of hot cocoa.
“Yes, I did, thank you for asking.”
“I’m glad you slept well, dear. Can you set the table please? Dinner is almost ready.” She said as you took a sip of your cocoa. You got plates down and silverware out and set the table. Your mom put hot pans and bowls on top of potholders on the table. You felt at home as the smells of your favorite dishes filled your nose. You said grace before you dug into the food and ate your fill. Your mom brought out some of your favorite dessert and let you have some while the three of you settled down to watch a movie. After the movie was over, you went to bed and slept.
§§§§§
You stayed for the next week taking care of yourself. You contacted your work and was able to work from your parent’s cabin. After the weekend passed, your dad drove you home and made sure you were ok and that you had a means to defend yourself incase Hawks came back. You assured your dad that you were fine, and you had a couple people to call in case things did go south. Your dad helped you carry your bags up to your apartment door and hugged you goodbye. You watched as your dad walked down the steps and turned the corner where his truck was before you unlocked the door of your apartment and stepped inside. Your eyes widened as you saw the absolute chaos that was your apartment. Your lamp was broken, your couch was ripped up and your coffee table was smashed down the middle. You covered your mouth and stepped inside your home… or what was once your home. The place that you thought that you could seek comfort was ruined. There were streaks of what you thought was blood and several familiar crimson feathers either laying on the ground or stabbed into your wall or appliance. You got to your bedroom, and you saw a message painted on the wall in blood. You froze in your tracks and read the message.
“Stay away from him! He’s mine and you’ll never have a chance with him!” You read. You cried and fell to your knees and cried again. You were done and tired of this. You wanted this chaos to be over and done with. You picked up your phone and scrolled through your contacts and found Hawks. You hesitated before you clicked the button to call him. You held the phone to your ear as it rang. He answered.
“Y/n? What’s up?” He asked.
“S-someone… b-broke into my apartment. Was it you? Your feathers are here and there’s a lot of blood.” You said with a wavering tone. You didn’t hear your closet door opening as Hawks was consoling you over the phone.
“Y/n. I wasn’t there. Someone must’ve found fake feathers that match mine. Get out of there. The person that did this is probably still around. I’ll be over as soon as I can, Ok?” You heard him say as something loomed over you. Your eyes went wide as you turned around slowly to see that man from the hospital.
“Y/n?! Answer me please!” Hawks yelled into his phone as you went quiet.
“He’s here.” You said quietly. “GET UP AND RUN!” He yelled into the receiver. You registered what he had told you to do but you were frozen in place. The man from the hospital bent down and put a bloodstained finger under your chin.
“I wondered where you were, Y/n. Didn’t think it would take you so long to come home to see my message.” He spoke. The intense scent of burnt skin and now whiskey on his breath along with the ashen smell of cigarettes filled your nose. You remained frozen as the man remained hovered over you. He grabbed you by the throat and slammed you against the wall.
“Go ahead and suffer.” He croaked out as you felt a warming sensation on your neck. You clawed at his hand and beat on his arm with your fists, but he didn’t let up. Your eyes glanced over to your bedroom window where you saw some scarlet feathers break through the glass and stab through the coat of the villain and pin him against the wall. Hawks swooped in and picked you up.
“I’m here baby. I’m going to get you out of here. I’m taking you to the hospital where they can check you out and make sure you’re not injured.” You heard him say. You clung to his jacket and hid your face in his neck. He held onto you and flew to the nearby hospital where he had you taken care of. He never left your side the entire time he was there holding your hand as the doctors took scans and tests and treated your neck for any minor burns. You felt broken on the inside. You couldn’t take anymore of this drama and stress. You remembered what you had told Hawks only a week ago that you never wanted to see him ever again. But there he was, sticking by your side even when you absolutely hated his guts. Did he still care for you? You didn’t know right then but you knew that you wanted to sleep. The doctors said that you should get your rest and you let your eyes flutter closed.
§§§§§
You woke up a couple hours later to see Keigo slumped in a chair asleep. You smiled softly to yourself before speaking up.
“Hey, sleepy bird.” You said just loud enough that he could hear you. He woke up and smiled. “Nice to see that you’re awake. The doctor said that they want to keep you overnight just incase anything goes bad. Then you should be able to go home tomorrow. Or someplace where you can be safe. I’d offer for you to come to my place, but I know that you and I aren’t on the best of terms right now.” He told you. You looked at him and kept your hand to yourself even though you wanted to hold his hand and pull him close to you and tell him that everything was going to be fine. But it wasn’t. You needed to be away from him and all the media and hype That had overwhelmed your life.
“Hawks, Keigo, I need some space for a while. I mean more than a day. I need an undefined amount of time away from you. Everything that has happened, you cheating on me, you following me to my parent’s cabin, my apartment… I can’t do it anymore. I need a break from you and all the things that come with you.” You told him. He backed away from the bed, nodding slowly until he was leaning against the wall and staring at the mundane pattern of the tiles on the floor.
“So… it is true… we’re over?” His words hung in the air for a few moments. The expression on his face told you that his heart was breaking. But you didn’t think it was genuine. You could feel your heart shattering into a million pieces.
“Yes, Keigo. We’re over.” You spoke. The hero pushed off from the wall and grabbed his coat and bag before leaving your room without another word. You let your tears run down your face as one of the nurses came into the room and checked on you to make sure you were ok. You told them that you had broken things off with your boyfriend and they nodded. They stayed with you and asked if there was anyone, they could call for you and you nodded. You told them about your friend that lived in the city and that you would need to talk with them. The nurse got your phone and handed it to you. You dialed your friend and the two of you talked over your living situation. Your friend agreed to let you come live with them while you recuperated. They said that they would be there in after their shift at work to pick you up an bring you home. You felt a little bit relieved that you had a place to go home. You let yourself fall back asleep and drift off into the land of dreams.
§§§§§
You woke up the next morning and the doctor gave you a last check up to make sure your vocal cords were undamaged. They gave you a clean bill of health and you were wheeled down to the pickup area where your friend was waiting for you in their car. They helped you into the car where there was a couple bags of your things and your suitcases that had remained unpacked from your vacation. When your friend parked in the parking garage of their apartment, you got a message from Hawks saying:
“I thought over some things, and we need to talk, alone.”
End part one.

Love And Lies | 3
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kim Seokjin x F!Reader
Summary: You are a simple maid. When your lady and dearest friend need help escaping an arranged marriage with King Seokjin so they might be together, you do the only thing you can - take her place.
Tumblr media
You followed behind the man who introduced himself as Chancellor Namjoon Kim, listening to him halfheartedly as he explained that while that was his official title, he was more of a Jack-of-all-trades and preferred calling himself the King's right-hand man.
You smooth your hands down your gown, hoping it was grand enough to disguise the commoner wearing it. You’d changed for supper, something that Eleanor had told you was common for people at court. According to her, depending on the person they might even change outfits as many as three or four times a day! The nobility were a ridiculous bunch, you sniffed derisively to yourself. You couldn’t help but feel sorry for the maids that had to care for all that clothing and the laundresses that cleaned them. Two times a day - not counting your sleeping gown - was extravagant enough for the likes of you.
The ensemble that you had now made you feel like a fairy princess of legend. You were a shimmering cloud of pink and white as you glided along the stone floors. The dress was pink velvet lined with white silk, along with white ermine fur on the edges of the sleeves and bottom of the gown. The bust was embroidered with silver thread and decorated with glistening pearls. You were also very happy to note that the top was much more modest this time around, though not by much. Eleanor had let you pick the jewelry yourself, so you’d settled on a simple strand of pearls around your neck and tiny pearl earbobs. Your hair was left loose and free of any painful and tedious styling with the hot iron.
Truthfully, you rather liked this dress. The fabric was soft to the touch and very comfortable. You even liked the little slippers that matched. When you asked Eleanor why she was letting you wear something like this, she had told you that your previous ensemble had been to impress the King, and this one was to appeal to the man. It was an odd statement considering that your goal was to not appeal to him, and she’d seem rather conflicted saying such a thing. You wished you’d had the time to question her further, but the Chancellor had shown up before you could.
In the end, it wouldn’t matter if you looked rather pretty in your outfit because you knew that eventually, he’d move on to the other women. You had literally nothing of interest about you to keep royalty interested. After all, what could you speak to him about beyond stain removal techniques and how to haggle for the best prices at the market?
Chancellor Namjoon opens a door and ushers you inside, seeming to not notice or mind that you hadn’t even been listening to him talk this entire time.
“His Majesty will be with you in a moment.”
He nods and leaves briskly, closing the door behind him. You take the chance to look around, your mouth falling in awe as you take in the rows and rows of scrolls. So this was a library! You had heard of such things but had simply chalked it up to the fancies of nobles, but this was truly amazing. Beyond the scrolls, there were even parchment tied together filled with writing and little sketches. A few were even covered in decorated leather, something that boggled your mind. Books! You had never thought to see one in your life.
You adored the family you worked for, of course, but not a single one of them had any use for reading and writing. Eleanor could write a little, mostly her name and a list of things she needed that looked like badly designed inkblots. Jungkook was a little better but mostly relied on drawing things out. You remembered the departed Duchess had a slanting script that was like beautiful art to your young eyes. She’d taught you how to read and write before she’d passed, but you rarely got a chance to use that knowledge. You never had anyone to write to and the Duke saw no use for books.
Your hand trailed reverently across the hard leather of one of the bound pages, wishing you had the freedom to peer inside.
“Do you like to read?”
The voice startled you, and you gasped and turned with your hand on your chest.
“Goodness. I’m...sorry, Your Majesty.”
His smile was kind, but his eyes looked like he was laughing at you. “It’s quite alright. So, do you?”
“Hmm?” You hummed softly, distracted by the way his now silver tunic made him glow like an otherworldly being. “Oh, read?” You smile sheepishly, forcing yourself to focus on the conversation and not on his lips. “I don’t get to very often, but I like stories.”
He seemed pleased with your answer, gesturing towards the book. “We got this one from a visiting Monarch years ago. Livres des merveilles du monde. It’s about a merchant named Marco Polo who was an adventurer for a while and traveled through the Orient. I was certain I was going to grow up and conquer the world someday when I first read this.”
“Why didn’t you?”
“Ah, the bane of my existence. Responsibilities,” he says dramatically, obviously trying to make you smile. “You may borrow it if you like. I’m not certain if it will be riveting enough for you, but you’re welcome to it. Or anything else here, during your stay.”
He picked up the book and handed it to you, his grin growing as he watched you cup it in your hands and stare at it in awe. A whole book!
You smile up at him genuinely for the first time, your smile wide and beaming with joy. “Thank you, Your Majesty. I’m not certain I’ll have time to finish it since I read so very slowly, but I thank you for the chance.”
He nods, his cheeks pinkened slightly. He gestures with a hand towards a table in the corner.
“I have some warm wine and honey pastries if you’d like to join me. I thought we might have a chance to get to know each other a little more before we have the pressure of an entire room watching our every move.”
“Oh...yes, that will be...tense” you gulp and sit as gracefully as you can in the highbacked wooden chair.
His smile is soft and kind as he pours you a drink. “I suppose despite your status you’re not quite used to court life. Your father mentioned you preferred staying home.”
“Yes,” you stuttered nervously. “I found I was more comfortable tutoring at home rather than being fostered out. I’m afraid the one time I tried, I found the group of ladies rather spiteful and begged Papa to come home after only three months.”
Which was a true story. Eleanor had been sent to the Duchesse Aline Villeneuve - the King’s very own aunt - to learn how to run a keep and other “women’s arts” not long after her mother had passed away from a sudden illness. According to Eleanor, she had been horribly bullied by the other ladies in the Duchesse’s care and she “hadn’t cared to make friends with such vain and heartless wenches, anyhow.”
Personally, you had rather fond memories of that summer, as with Eleanor away you’d had the freedom to do as you pleased and you’d even made a new friend for a few months - a village boy with the most annoying laugh you’d ever heard but had been sweet and fun. The two of you had been inseparable for the entire summer until one day he didn’t show up to the stream you often met at. You still thought of that boy from time to time and hoped he was doing well. You never did learn where he disappeared to.
King Seokjin nods in understanding. “Unfortunately, it’s not going to be much better here. Gossip is practically a form of currency, and whether it’s true or not doesn’t matter,” he rolls his eyes and sits back in his chair, bringing up a mug of steaming spiced wine to his lips. He gulps and sighs, setting the cup back on the table.
“And in your case, it will be twice as bad as you are...well…” he coughs lightly, his cheeks blushing once more. “A high contender to be Queen?”
You sputter on the drink of wine you’d just taken, trying to hastily wipe any spilled droplets before he sees them.
“Yes...err, I am...that.”
“So,” he says loudly, slapping his hands onto his thighs. “I mostly wanted to set aside some time right now so you can tell me things you like to do. I’m afraid I have to live my entire life by a set schedule, so if I had some ideas for my courting days with you that would help greatly.” “Oh,” you smile mischievously, “Yes, I imagine it must be difficult trying to balance so many suitors. Romantic sailing on Monday, serenading on Tuesday, kissing in a dark alcove on Wednesday...”
“You have no idea, “ he groans, only to still and gape at you in astonishment. “You’re making fun of me!”
“I would never, Your Majesty,” you drop your eyes to your lap, still smiling despite the way you were internally smacking yourself. This wasn’t home, you had to curb your tongue.
He squints at you suspiciously. “I have a feeling you would and will. You have some spirit hiding under that demure stance, don’t you Lady Eleanor?” He cocks his head and looks at you with an expression of pleased wonder.
“Perhaps, Your Majesty.”
“I think,” he begins softly, his tone making you lift your eyes to meet his. “In private settings like this, you may use my first name.”
Your eyes widen incredulously. “Oh, I couldn’t!”
“I can order you to if I must,” his smile is playful, even while his eyes are staring at you intensely.
“I...alright. Thank you...Seokjin,” you respond quietly and no doubt with crimson cheeks.
“There. That wasn’t so hard. And...I liked hearing it.”
He stands up and offers you his hand. “It’s time to head to supper. I can escort you as far as to the hall, but I have to go to the high table without anyone seeing you with me. Don’t want them to see you entering the dining hall on the King’s arm; that would make you a target for the harpies,” he winks, linking your arm in his. “You can send a list of activities we can do together later.”
The walk down the hall is too short, but you’d enjoyed the feeling of his strong arm encasing yours and the occasional sneaky peeks of his beautiful side profile. He releases you as soon as the noisy dining hall is close enough to hear.
“I must leave you here, but I look forward to speaking with you on the morrow. I’ll have someone bring the book to your room tonight.”
“Thank you, Your M…” you begin, only for him to raise an eyebrow at you daringly. You glance around you for eavesdropping servants and sigh. “Thank you, Seokjin.”
His beaming smile is worth your embarrassment. “Well done, lambkin. Be sure to try the custard tarts, they are the best!”
He waves and strides off, leaving you to find the waiting Jungkook and be escorted to your seat. Something pricked at the back of your mind, however. Lambkin? Why did that seem so familiar? Perhaps you were just overwhelmed. You shake your head and focus on the elegant supper in front of you as you find Jungkook waiting just inside the door, and he gestures for you to walk ahead of him. You can tell from the way his jaw is clenched he’s dying to ask you about the meeting, but there is no way to subtly speak to him at the moment.
The dining hall was brimming with people and you praised Eleanor for being the sort of noble who kept to herself, since the chances of anyone knowing her here were incredibly low. Your seat is incredibly close to the high table - in fact, it was directly above you. A few more steps to your right and His Majesty would be getting crumbs and wine on your head.
You’re not brave enough to look at him yet, though, and decide to look around for your “competition.”
Your table seems to be where they are all located, judging by the way most of the women gathered around you meet your curious gaze with measuring looks of their own. Most of them turn away after a few seconds, obviously dismissing you as not a threat.
One girl that looks similar to Eleanor all the way down to her bouncing curls grins at you playfully and waves at you with the chicken leg in her hand. You nod in answer, adding a slight smile as you decided she seemed nice enough.
A regal brunette meets your eyes with a quirk of her eyebrow, blatantly looking you up and down. Her lips thin and she pointedly turns away with a sneer, clutching her silverware almost threateningly. Alright, she will not be someone you want to know.
Directly across from you is a redhead and you snort, coming to the realization that His Majesty literally has every color of the rainbow to pick from for his bride. Variety is the spice of life, you suppose. This woman seems very disinterested in everything around her, however, focusing on her meal and only interacting with servants to refill her goblet.
At the head of the table and directly at your elbow is the one that you can only assume is the Princess. She is incredibly pretty, you have to admit. Her dark black hair is mostly loose and cascading about her in waves. The sides have been pulled back and secured with a large golden hairpin the size of a dagger with little jeweled flowers adorning it. Her dress is strange yet beautiful. Silk or satin, if you had to guess. The top was lavender and embroidered with flowers and some sort of serpent that vaguely looked like a dragon. The bottom was nearly peach-colored and consisted of the same decorations. Her features were sharp and sculpted, with high cheekbones and a thin nose. She looked exotic and lovely, but it wasn’t until her smile blinded you that you realized she was beautiful. She met your eyes with a twinkle in hers, reaching her delicate hand up to point at herself.
“I am Hosook. You?”
“I am Lady Eleanor Rose D’Aily, Your Highness,” you answer slowly, assuming that the way she was squinting while you spoke was her concentrating on your words. Perhaps she was learning the language still.
“You for him too?” she asked with a wave behind her at the high table.
“Yes, I was brought here for the King. I’m sure you’re a much better choice.”
The Princess smiles her understanding and waves away your compliment. “Too...ugg,” she grunts, obviously failing to find the word she wanted. She chose instead to flap in the general direction of King Seokjin like she was shooing away a fly.
“You...aren’t attracted to His Majesty?” you ask in a hushed voice. How could anyone not find him the most beautiful being to ever walk this earth?
She sticks out her tongue, “Reminds me of Haraboji...uh...Grandfather?”
You sputter a laugh which you know is too loud, but you can’t help yourself as Princess Hosook giggles with you. You feel yourself being watched and glance up to lock eyes with the very man in question. The King looks down at you curiously, his lips tilted in an amused smile as you can’t stop your giggles. Suddenly, he winks at you and you look away quickly as your laughter dies down into a shy smile.
“Oh,” Princess Hosook says slyly, clucking and patting your hand with a grin. “I see now. You nice, make pretty Queen.”
“Goodness, it’s not like that at all. We just met,” you rush to explain, your excuses being waved away yet again.
“I like…” she waves between the King and you. “Nice together. Uh...need more words,” she grumbles quietly, biting her lip.
“I could help, if you like? I helped my Lad...err...my Ladies Maid learn how to read and write.”
Her smile was beaming as she nodded her head in agreement. “Yes. Need be better to deal with them,” she nods her head towards the gaggle of noblewomen surrounding them.
“I understand. I have to wait to hear which days I need to spend with the King, and then we’ll set aside some time for us!” You smile kindly at the Princess, who grins back and attends her meal with much more gusto now that she had something to look forward to. You sigh and quietly thank the powers that be for making some sort of friend to get you through this, and one that you were able to fall back into your natural state of submission with. It would be easier to explain any lapses in your behavior if you were just a mere Duke’s daughter shadowing a Princess, rather than being with the other women who were basically your equals and expected you to be just as much of a spoiled prat as they were.
The meal comes to a close (and you were amazed that you only caught yourself staring at His Majesty less than five times), and Jungkook is back at your elbow to escort you to your rooms. As you accept his helping hand, you feel someone tap on your shoulder. Princess Hosook flicks her eyes up and down Jungkook with an exaggerated waggled of her eyebrows. Her hand goes to her chest and she mouths something that you assume is complimentary. Jungkook’s eyes are huge as he tries to follow what’s happening.
You giggle and slap his arm. “She thinks you’re handsome.”
“TAKEN…” he squeaks, “I’m taken. Sorry..uh...lady...majesty…”
“Always pretty ones,” Princess Hosook sighs and waves goodbye with fluttering fingers, disappearing with her own small army of attendants.
You continue to laugh quietly as Jungkook begs you to stop. You pause just before leaving the hall and catch the King’s eye right before he leaves for his own apartments. He smiles and shallowly bows, and you watch him until his broad shoulders disappear from sight.
“Sis,” Jungkook mutters quietly as he herds you back to your hallway. “You can’t…” he sighs. “I’m sure you think he’s handsome and he seems to be nice to you, but you can’t be with him. You remember that, right? You’re not who he thinks you are and he’d find that out if you were to marry him. I am literally stealing a potential bride from him, and the moment he finds out, he can kill us all.”
“I know, Jungkook. I’m not an imbecile.”
“I know that, but you’ve never been courted before. I forgot about that and now I’m worried that you’re over your head.”
You sigh and loop your arm in his as you walk. “I suppose I forgot that he’d be trying to win me over as much as the rest, at least at first. I might have let the sweet words and smiles affect me, but I promise Jungkook, I’ll remember. Besides, I saw the other potential brides. I am no match for them. The novelty of someone new will fade in a few days, and I pray that we have the deed to the keep no later than a month. Then, I will tell him that I don’t think I’m a good match for the Kingdom and we can be on our merry way.”
He sighs wearily and tugs you close for a quick hug. “I know, I trust you and your judgment, I just got worried. If he does anything that makes you uncomfortable or makes you feel compromised, let me know. I don’t care if he’s the king, I’ll throw down my glove.”
“You’ll not duel the King, Jungkook. Go seek your bed, brother dear,” you say with a tiny smile, pushing him away from you once you reach your room. “Tell Eleanor when she comes back from the kitchens she can go straight to her room. I won’t bother her tonight because I’m so exhausted from all this excitement I’m going to fall asleep the moment my head hits the mattress.”
Jungkook grins, a look you really don’t want to identity lighting his eyes. “Will do. Sweet dreams, sis.” He stomps off and leaves you to close the door to your opulent apartments.
You yawn and observe the room as you undress, leaving the layers of clothing across a chair to be taken care of the next day. The room was spacious and absolutely gorgeous, decorated in lovely shades of robin’s egg blue, white, and gold. There was an entire room just for clothing, one for washing, and yet another whole room for your ladies maid - something that Eleanor had seemed suspiciously excited about. You worried that she was going to try yet again to seduce her love now that she had a new sort of freedom without her father about.
You crawl onto the giant golden bed and arrange the blankets over you as you fight off another yawn. A full belly and an overwhelming day full of excitement seemed to be all your poor body could handle. Another yawn and you drift off to sleep, visions of warm brown eyes and smiling lips filling your dreams.

A/N:
1. Yes, that is Hoseok. He’s a pretty princess today.
2. I don’t really like using the term “exotic” but since this is a historical and being done from the viewpoint of a person in the middle ages, it seemed fitting.
3. Oh, look at that totally huge and obvious hint to the past. Hmmm....

It has been five days since Emma Danvers was admitted into the hospital and her own private room. Many tests have been performed, one being an ultrasound where the technician confirmed Emma’s gallbladder was overflowing with stones. Causing her sister’s to hug her close.
More tests were scheduled for later in the week after the antibiotics should have taken out most of the infection in Emma’s liver. The test Emma is dreading the most is getting an MRI. Alex had to tell her all the calming techniques she knew to prepare Emma for when she is slid into the claustrophobic space.
But in the early hours of the morning Emma’s jaundice, hazel green eyes snap open as a familiar pain shoots through her body.
“Fuck!” She cries through gritted teeth. She slowly sits up and rocks her body to try and relieve the stabbing pain in her chest, right shoulder and back. But she feels no relief. “Please stop!” Emma whimpers desperately.
“Em?” Kara’s sleepy voice calls out from the bed next to her in the darkened hospital room.
But all Emma can do is respond in pained gasps and moans. She’s suddenly blinded by a light being turned on. Revealing Kara standing next to her bed.
“Oh Em!” Kara reaches out and feel’s Emma’s sweaty forehead. “I’m gonna get help!” Kara turns to rush out of the hospital room but stops when her baby sister takes a hold of her arm.
“Stay.” Emma wheezes. “Button.”
“Duh, sorry.” Kara rolls her eyes at herself, in her sleepy mind she forgot about the simple technology in the room. She presses the button on the wall to alert the nurse on duty.
The corner of Emma’s right lip goes up slightly in a smile and she weaves her fingers through Kara’s. Her sister gently squeezes her hand, hating how helpless she feels and at how yellow and pale Emma looks. How she’s constantly rocking.
“Glasses. Please.” Emma hates her thick rimmed glasses but she hates not being able to see more.
“Of course! Here.” Kara opens up the glasses and places them in Emma’s other hand. Emma puts them on and the room focuses.
“Good Morning Emma.” Emma’s favourite nurse, Sarah, enters the room and approaches the sister’s immediately. Looking over the machines and tapping on her tablet. “Where’s the pain?”
“The usual. Was. Asleep.” Emma gasps out, trying to breathe through the pain. Her head lolled back and forth repeatedly.
“Okay, from a scale of 1 to 10?”
“9.” Emma grits out. Kara gently squeezes her hand again and Emma weakly squeezes back.
“Okay, I’m going to give you some more morphine to help you feel more comfortable.” Sarah quickly gets to work and after a while Emma is able to lean back on the raised bed. The morphine taking effect and helping her body start to relax. “Better?” Sarah asks as she takes Emma’s temperature and blood pressure.
“Yea, a 7.”
Sarah nods and writes some notes on the tablet in her hand. “I’ll contact the Doctors to let them know you’ve had another attack. We’ll need to do another blood test.”
Emma shrugs her shoulders at her. Needles used to scare her but after being poked and prodded so much her fear has lessened.
“Atta girl!” The nurse smiles brightly and starts the process of the blood test.
“So I was thinking.” Kara starts suddenly making Emma look at her in surprise. “I still can’t see why you prefer The Little Mermaid to Beauty and The Beast!”
A laugh escapes Emma’s lips. Knowing Kara is trying to distract her. “It’s because of Ursula. I mean her voice is incredible. And the laugh! Plus I love ‘Part Of Your World’ more than any song in Beauty and The Beast.”
“But the ballroom scene -!”
“Sharp scratch.” Sarah calls out.
“Is wonderful and I still cry at it.” Emma smiles at Kara’s horrified face. She grimaces slightly when she feels the needle go in. “But it always bugs me how a Prince doesn’t know how to read. Or the fact the fairy turned him into the beast when he was a kid.”
“All done!” The nurse smiles at the sister’s and cleans Emma up.
“Thank you Sarah.” Emma says gratefully and she waits for the nurse to leave the room. “Sorry I woke you.” Emma says softly to her sister.
“Don’t be, it’s what I’m here for.” Kara reaches up and cups Emma’s face. Rubbing her thumb over her cheek.
“But you’ve had a busy day.” Emma whines, knowing Kara worked at Catco and then many hours Supergirling around the city.
“The joys of the work I do.” Kara jokes. “But you are so much more important Em.”
Emma smiles but she feels her eyes growing heavy. The painkillers taking full effect.
“Looks like someone needs to go back to sleep.” Kara says while kissing Emma’s head.
Emma nods slightly. She can’t remember the last time she’s slept solidly and feels refreshed after. Which annoys Emma greatly as she loves sleep.
Kara turns to go back to the spare bed but Emma holds on to her hand. “Stay?” Her weak voice broke Kara’s heart.
“Sure.”
Emma budges over and Kara climbs up on the bed. holding Emma close to her.
“Love you.” Emma says while yawning.
“Love you too little one.” Kara carefully removes Emma’s glasses and places them on the table next to them.
“Only a year younger.” Emma breathes out, feeling herself relaxing in her sister’s arms.
“Yea.” Kara strokes Emma’s blonde hair trying to soothe her. She smiles while listening to her sister’s breathing getting deeper and her heart rate slowing down as she falls asleep.
Kara wakes up to the sound of soft voices. The superhero slowly lifts her head and blinks the sleep away. Across the room on the sofa’s is Alex and Eliza, looking over a tablet.
It seems her mother instinct kicks in because Eliza looks up at her two daughters on the bed and sees Kara is awake. Eliza smiles, quietly gets up and makes her way to the bed. Alex follows behind her, still looking over the tablet in her hands.
“Morning Kara.” Eliza says as she leans down and gives Kara a kiss on her cheek. Her eyes shifted to Emma, snuggled into Kara’s neck.
“Morning.” Kara can’t help but let out a yawn.
“I see she had another attack last night.” Alex whispers scrolling through the information on the tablet.
Kara sighs heavily. “Yea, she was fine when we went to sleep but I woke up to her cursing in pain.”
“My poor baby.” Eliza reaches down and strokes Emma’s blonde hair. “I can see what you mean by how jaundice she looks. And you said it suddenly happened?”
“Yes.” Alex looks up from the tablet. “She was fine a week ago, nothing was wrong other than how tired she was.”
“Yea, but she was sleeping a lot more. I just took it as her period was coming up.” Kara whispers as she rubs a hand against Emma’s back.
“But the day she was admitted I did think her colour looked off. I did notice the signs and I’m angry I didn’t do anything about it.” Alex growls in frustration.
“We can’t change what’s in the past.” Eliza says gently.
Alex nods and goes to get a chair for her Mom and herself. Kara happily stays on the bed, being Emma’s pillow. The three women quietly talk until suddenly Emma bolts up.
“I’m gonna be sick!”
Alex leaps into action and grabs a sick bowl just in time. Kara jumps off the bed, aware her body heat could cause Emma more discomfort. She presses the call button again. Eliza holds Emma’s hair back and puts it in a loose ponytail. She frowns at the pain Emma is in. How her baby daughter rocks back and forth as she heaves. The tears streaming down her pale cheeks.
“Another one?” Sarah says as she quickly rushes in.
“Yes, she suddenly sat up saying she was about to be sick.”
“Poor Emma. Here.” Sarah hands Alex a new bowl while taking the partly full one. She gathers more painkillers and anti sickness medication and injects them into Emma’s cannula. “There you go Emma, you should feel that relief soon.”
Emma nods weakly as she dry heaves. Her eyes squeezed tightly shut. “I wanna go home.” She whimpers causing her sisters and Mom’s heart to break.
“I know baby girl.” Eliza tries to soothe her daughter. Looking on helplessly as she rubs her back.
“Mama?” Emma gasps out before throwing up again.
“I’m here.”
Emma subconsciously leans into her Mom, who has to take the bowl as Alex almost had to lean over the bed due to Emma’s movement.
“I’ve got you baby girl.” Eliza coos and holds her daughter close.
Finally Emma stops heaving and Sarah makes more notes. “Pain level Emma?”
“I-I-I do-don-’t-”
Alex and Kara frown at each other. Worried at how slurred Emma’s speech was.
“That’s okay Emma, lean back and rest okay?” Sarah says kindly. Taking the bowl from Eliza and disposing of it.
Emma feels her Mom slowly lay her back down and immediately falls back asleep, holding her Mom’s hand.
Sarah reenters the room and picks up her tablet, typing away. Finally she looks up at the worried women around the bed. “I’ll alert the Doctors immediately. They should be here soon and generally they have a meeting before going around the wards.”
“Is this normal?” Kara asks, biting her lip.
“Generally no. But each case can be different. Unfortunately Emma seems to have the worst end of the stick.”
The nurse leaves and Kara changes into the clothes she brought with her. Both sister’s decide they are going to take time off work and stay with Emma. Both knowing they won’t be able to concentrate with how Emma is deteriorating. J’onn readily agrees and will cover as director and for Supergirl.
An hour later the door opens. All three women look over and they give Sam and Lena barely their smiles.
“Don’t look too happy to see us!” Sam jokes as she reaches Alex and gives her a kiss on the lips.
“Sorry, Emma had two more attacks in quick succession.”
“Oh no.” Sam breathes out and looks at the blonde in the bed. “She… She does look more yellow… Or am I imagining that?”
“No, she has got worse.” Kara says rubbing a hand over her forehead. Her worry for her baby sister makes her feel anxious and helpless. Realising Lena hasn’t said anything Kara looks up at the raven haired women standing at the end of the bed. “Lena?”
The CEO is staring at Emma intently, looking over every part that she can see. Analysing and running through ways she can help the woman she loves.
“Lena?”
Lena jumps when Kara calls for her again.
“Sorry.” She says quickly and sits in the chair by Kara.
“Don’t be. It’s not easy seeing her like this.” Kara wraps an arm around Lena’s shoulder and pulls her in for a hug.
“Have the Doctors been in?” Sam asks Alex, who shakes her head.
“Not yet.” Alex answers softly, running a hand through her hair. “Sarah said they need to get the MRI done so they can have a better picture of what’s going on. There may be a chance a stone has got caught somewhere and we don’t want that getting left behind when they operate.”
“Poor Em.” Sam looks at the blonde sympathetically and focuses on the hand Eliza is holding. She wonders how Eliza is keeping everything together. If this was happening to Ruby, Sam knows she would be a frantic mess.
Another hour passes. Lena and Sam reluctantly have to leave. Lena is especially sad she didn’t get to talk to Emma and feeling guilty for how busy she’s been the past few days. Even though she’s been leaving work in record time to spend the evenings with Emma, it never seems to be enough time. Lena places a kiss on Emma’s cheek, leaving a red lipstick mark, which she quickly wipes off. Not realising her kiss had woken Emma up.
After they leave there’s a knock on the door. Emma stirs more, taking a deep breath in as she starts to open her eyes.
“May we come in?” Dr Stevens asks as they open the door.
Eliza nods and Dr Stevens, Sarah and a few interns filter into the room.
“Ah Emma! You're awake.” Dr Stevens smiles kindly at the blonde. Who gives a weak smile back. “How are you feeling?”
“Sore.” Emma’s voice is low and gruff. She coughs and Alex immediately grabs the cup of water by the bed and hands it to Emma. Who takes it gratefully, taking small sips. Alex picks up Emma’s glasses and carefully places them on her baby sister. Making sure they go on properly.
“What level is the pain?”
Emma thinks for a moment as she assesses how she feels. “Between 7 and an 8.”
“That isn’t good.” Dr Stevens looks down at their tablet. “Sarah, once Emma has her MRI can you set up a morphine drip? That way we can keep Emma more comfortable.”
Sarah nods and taps on her tablet the new information.
“Due to the recent attacks we are putting you ahead of the MRI queue. One of my interns will take you down in a moment. You need to take anything that has metal off, including jewellery, bras, little pieces of metal in clothes etc.”
Emma nods sluggishly at the surgeon.
“Do you have any questions?” Dr Stevens keeps their focus on Emma who looks at those around her.
“No, I think we are okay for the moment.” Eliza says squeezing Emma’s hand.
“Actually.” Alex pipes up causing everyone to look at her. “Have you got the results from the recent blood test?”
“We do, but I want to see what the MRI shows first.”
Alex nods at this and leans back into her chair. The surgeon bids them goodbye and all of the interns follow them out.
Emma reaches up and tries to unclasp her ear studs. When she struggles Kara stands and helps her remove them.
“Thanks Kar.” Emma says gratefully while Kara places them in a small pot by Emma’s bed. Emma turns her head looking at Eliza, who holds her hand again. “Hey Mom.” Emma has wanted her Mom terribly but due to Eliza’s work she couldn’t get to her baby daughter quick enough. Something that has frustrated Eliza greatly.
“Hi baby girl.” Eliza stands and holds her daughter close. A sniff escapes the blonde until the damn breaks and she’s sobbing into her Mom’s arms. The feeling of safety and home overwhelming her.
“Sorry.” Emma chokes out, feeling embarrassed by her outburst.
“Oh Emma. It’s okay.” Her Mom says while kissing the top of her head.
“But it’s stupid.”
“No it isn’t. You’re in pain and very unwell. You’re allowed to cry.”
“Yea.” Alex stands and hugs Emma’s back. Kara reaches out and takes a hold of Emma’s hand. “We don’t think any less of you for crying Em.”
“Sorry to interrupt but I need to take Emma down.” A female intern stood in the doorway. Kara, Alex and Eliza pull away. Emma shoots Alex a look of panic and Alex motioned with her hand for Emma to take deep breaths. Which Emma copies, but she still looks terrified.
“Remember to keep your eyes closed and think of nice things.” Alex says encouragingly.
“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.” Kara starts singing ‘My Favourite Things” from The Sound Of Music.
“Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.” Emma sings with a smile on her face. They both sing the next few lines to each other.
“Brown paper packages tied up with string. These are a few of my favourite things.”
Alex rolls her eyes but smiles at her two musical loving sisters.
The intern smiles too and steps forward making Emma focus on her. “And I just need to check your clothing for metal. Is that okay?”
Emma nods and the intern lifts the blanket and sheets back. Checking the holes and drawstring in Emma’s sweatpants. They pull the sheet and blanket up over Emma.
“Are you wearing a bra?”
“No.”
“Great! And your earrings are out.” The intern pulls the bars up either side of Emma and everyone moves out of the way. Emma looks at Alex again in a panic.
“You’ll be fine Em.” Alex reaches out and holds Emma’s hand.
“You can have someone come down with you. They won’t be in the room with you though.” The intern offers kindly.
Emma looks at Alex and bites her lip.
“Would you like me to come down with you?” Alex asks softly, smiling at how much Emma looks like the child she remembers from their youth. All wide eyed and scared.
Emma nods and Alex keeps a hold of her hand.
“We’ll be here when you get back.” Eliza kisses Emma’s forehead and holds her daughter close. Next Kara gives Emma a crushing hug. Trying to convey all her love in that moment.
“Can’t. Breathe.” Emma gasps out.
“Sorry!” Kara flies back causing Emma to laugh but reaches for her sister again, pulling her into another, more gentle hug.
“I’m sorry but we really have to go.” The intern disengages the break and starts pushing the trolley forward.
Kara lets go of Emma and stands with Eliza in the room. They watch Emma being wheeled out with Alex by her side.
“Al…” Emma says quietly as they wait in the elevator. Alex looks down at her and squeezes her hand.
“Yea?”
“I’m nervous.”
“It’s okay to be nervous Em. But you got this. The doctors need this scan to know the best way to perform the surgery.” Alex reaches up and strokes her thumb across Emma’s yellow cheek. “You remember all the breathing exercises I taught you?”
Emma nods. “But what if I freak out?”
“Honestly, Em, we don’t have time for you to freak out. You need this scan. Keep your mind busy with things you like and focus on your breathing. The machine will let you know when to hold your breath and all that.”
“Okay.” But Emma didn’t feel okay. If she was linked to a heart monitor she was sure it would be going haywire at the moment.
The elevator doors slide open and the intern wheels them to the MRI room. Emma is immediately intimated by the huge machine, and the small gap in its centre. The technician greets them and goes through everything with Emma and asks the usual questions “Are you pregnant?” Which earned a snort from Emma before confirming she wasn’t.
“Okay, so we are all ready for you. Can you stand and walk to the slab?”
“Yes.”
The intern lowers one side of the railing around the bed and Emma slowly lifts her legs over the side. Alex stands by her side, helping Emma get to her feet. Emma closes her eyes for a moment as the room spins around her. Causing Alex to hold onto her.
“Em?”
“M’okay.” Taking a deep breath she opens her eyes again, taking a few cautious steps with Alex holding onto her shoulders and walking with her. They reach the slab and Alex helps her sit down.
“Going to need you to take your glasses I’m afraid.”
“Okay.” Emma takes them off and hands them to Alex. Her sister leans down and hugs her.
“You’ll be fine.” Alex says reassuringly and places a kiss on Emma’s cheek.
“Thanks Al.” Emma thinks she smiles at Alex, but she can no longer see Alex’s face. Just a blob of colour.
The voice of the technician is what she hears next.“Put these earbuds in, they will drown out most of the noise and you’ll hear when the machine instructs you to breathe and when to hold your breath.”
Emma holds out her hand and the ear buds are placed in it.  Emma puts them in her ear and immediately the noises of the room dims. She then lies on the slab and the technician places a shield over her chest and lower body. She is strapped onto the slab and the technician gives her the thumbs up. Or what looks like the thumbs up.
“Ready?” A muffled voice calls out.
“Re-ready.”
The machine suddenly slides her in and she has no problem seeing the top right in front of her face. For a split second panic floods through Emma and she feels like she’s in a coffin. But Emma immediately closes her eyes and focuses on her breathing.
After a while Emma starts imagining she is on a plane. The hum of the machine being similar to that of a plane. The cold air being pumped around her, reminding her of the air con on a plane. How Emma always needs to wrap up and take a blanket with her. The feeling of being squished into the machine, just like being squished in a small seat on a plane.
She pictures herself sitting next to Lena, on their way to Paris or Rome or Athens. Places Emma is desperate to visit one day.
“When you hear the beep, take a deep breath and hold for 15 seconds until you hear the next beep.” An automated voice calls out. Emma follows the instructions and holds her breath and releases when she hears the beeps. This continues for some time. Emma starts getting annoyed every time the automated voice interrupts her day dream of being in a city with Lena. Like visiting the Eiffel Tower or the Colosseum. All the different foods they could try.
Finally Emma feels the machine sliding her out.
“Well done! You’re a very good breather!” The technician jokes causing Emma to snort.
“Well that's good… I guess.” Emma says while the technician unstraps her and removes the shields.
“Here.” Alex says while holding out her glasses.
Emma takes them and puts them on. She looks up at her sister who smiles brightly at her.
“Told you you could do it!”
Emma smiles back at her before slowly sitting up. Alex helps her to her feet again and they walk to the gurney.
“One of our top guys is looking over the scans now, they should let your surgeon know ASAP.” The technician says kindly as the intern pulls the sides up again.
“Thank you.” Emma smiles at the and waves when she’s being wheeled out. “Please don’t make me do that for a long time.”
“I promise.” Alex says while taking a hold of her sister’s hand. “How are you feeling?”
“Hungry.”
“Unfortunately you may not be able to eat. You will probably be nil by mouth until we know if your surgery will be today.” The intern interrupts.
Subconsciously Emma lowers her head and squeezes Alex’s hand tightly. Alex looks down at her sister, seeing how defeated Emma looks.
“Hey.” Scared yellow eyes look up at her. “You’ll be okay.”
Emma nods but remains quiet, lowering her head again as they make the way back to her room.
“Emma! How’d it go?” Kara’s cheerful voice makes Emma lookup as the gurney is put back in place.
“Was okay.” Emma softly says while Sarah installs the morphine drip.
“When you need pain relief just press this button.” Sarah says and Emma nods. Pressing the button immediately. The movement earlier had aggravated her pain.
A voice Emma didn’t expect spoke next. “Was it as bad as you thought?” Green eyes connect with Emma’s jaundice ones. A small smile breaks across Emma’s face.
“No. Though I didn’t shut my eyes quick enough when they slid me in. But I just imagined I was on a plane.”
“That’s a good way of describing it actually.” Eliza says while sitting next to Emma’s bed.
“And I don’t want to sound rude, but, Lee?” Emma’s gaze focuses back on her crush. “What are you doing here? I thought today you had back to back meetings.”
“I managed to do some rearranging. As it’s Friday many were happy to reschedule as it meant they could start their weekend sooner. And as it’s lunch time I brought everyone something.” Lena goes over to the coffee table and picks up the take away bags with Alex and Emma’s food in.
“Oh! I er…” Emma pale cheeks colour in a blush.
“She’s not allowed to eat anything at the moment.” Alex says as she takes the bag Lena holds out to her.
“Why not?!” Kara looks at her sister outraged.
“Incase I have surgery today.”
“Oh! I’m sorry Em.” Lena looks guiltily at the blonde, putting the bag containing Emma’s food back on the coffee table, out of Emma’s view. Though Emma knows Kara will likely be eating it soon anyway.
“Would you rather we ate somewhere else?” Emma notices Sam by the sofa, already eating her lunch. She quickly looks at everyone, almost laughing loudly at how conflicted Kara looks.
“No it’s fine.”
“Phew!” Kara starts eating again, in record time to make up for the few seconds she wasn’t eating.
“So where did you imagine you were flying too?” Sam asks to break up the silence.
“Either Paris, Rome or Athens.”
“Oo nice! Have you been there?” Sam asks with a bright smile.
Emma shakes her head. “No.”
“Maybe I can take you sometime?” Lena tilts her head at Emma and smiles at her.
“CanIcome?” Kara says with a mouth full of food.
“Kara!” Eliza scoffs.
“Was that in english?” Emma laughs loudly.
Kara swallows before trying again. “Sorry, I said, can I come?”
Alex wanted to kick her sister’s shin and shoot her a glare. Instead she looks at Sam who gently rolls her eyes. Alex smirks into her lunch.
“I’ll take you another time.” Lena smiles at her best friend. Secretly making a plan in her head of taking Emma on a week, maybe two week holiday to these cities. Maybe add a few more in that Emma would love.
“Aw okay.” Kara sighs heavily.
‘So oblivious!’ Alex thinks as she shakes her head slightly.
Suddenly a big yawn escapes Emma. “How am I so tired?” She rubs her face frustrated.
“Cause your body is going through a lot.” Alex says between mouthfuls. “Plus you haven’t been sleeping well. Not good quality sleep anyway.”
“Yea… What is that again?”
“You poor thing.” Kara reaches out and strokes Emma’s arm. Careful not to tug the wires attached to the morphine drip.
Emma smiles at her sister and feels her eyes growing heavy. She blinks, trying to keep sleep away as long as possible.
“Emma, sleep, it’s okay.” Her Mom stands and strokes Emma’s head.
“Lee’s here.” Emma says wearily. “Specially.”
“I’ll be here when you wake up Em.” Lena stands next to Eliza. She watches Emma’s yellow eyes slide close and open quickly before closing again repeating. Reaching out Lena takes Emma’s hand and rubs her thumb over it. “Sleep darling.”
Emma finally can’t fight it anymore and her eyes remain close.

♥⋯Love From Death⋯♥
Hawks (Keigo Takami) x reader one-shot
The sun shines bright on a couple. Light reflects off of the pro hero's bright red wings as they walk through the park. They were on their first date, and by the looks of the dirty blonde man, it wasn't going to be their last. The woman beside him was no different, her eyes shown with love and admiration for the hero that she could be mistaken for a fan. But Hawks could see deeper into her eyes. He could see past the surface and dive deep into her heart.
The love the two shared over the days was almost sickening. Before work, the woman was there. After work, the woman was there. The winged hero was glad and happier on days that he would see her. People around him were relieved when the woman would come to the office because that would stop the bird from pouting. Even Endeavor would relax a little when Hawk's undivided attention would break, leaving the flame hero to continue to do his work.
Weeks went by, and life progressed. Hawks worked fewer shifts, and the woman saw him more. Every hour spent apart added more to their love for each other. And moments spent together made it grow tenfolds. Strange how much you can care for someone who no one ever thought would get together. Guess loving someone when the world was against you and them makes it fun. The fun being; the challenges you'll face together.
It has been a couple of months since the couples' first date. And a couple of weeks since they started dating. The media was all over them, approaching them while they were together and asking questions every chance they got. The woman beside the winged hero wasn't bothered at all. Rather she like the attention and all the perks that came with dating a wealthy young pro hero. Soon enough, the money and gifts that Hawks gave were used to make the woman look presentable to the media. But every night when the couple would go to sleep, Hawks asked if she truly loved him.
Despite the challenges the couple faced, they stayed together. Even with the busy schedule of a pro hero, Hawks and the woman found time to be with each other. I'll admit it was hard watching the two fall in love with each other and see them do stuff I used to do with him. But what hurt the most was his doubt to find love again. He tried. Years after my death, he found someone who cared. Sadly, as time went by, the women wanted more of Hawk's money and possessions than his love.
I wanted nothing more than to hold him again. To reassure him and to guide him. After a year of keeping the woman by his side, Hawks realized her true intentions of dating him in the first place. When she left, my lover succumbed to the darkness caused by heartbreak. I stood in front of him, watching as the tears streamed from his eyes. He couldn't see nor hear me. I felt so helpless. When I was alive, seeing him come home bloody and bruised, hurt, but at least I could bandage his wounds. Now that I'm no longer alive, I'm left to watch him suffer.
I kneel down and see his eyes shut painfully closed and teeth clenched. The sobs were unstoppable as the tears poured from his eyes. I see his hands tremble, his wings sag, and his mouth muttering my name.
"I wish you were still here, Y/N."
His voice was shaky and interrupted with his sobs. My ghostly figure grew cold at his words. My eyes widen as he cried louder. I couldn't help but reach my hand, and as gently as I could, I cupped his tear-stained cheek. I lean forward and kiss a stray tear. My heart swells with love and the feeling of regret. I should have given what Dabi wanted, then Keigo will still be smiling. As I pull away, I see the man in front of me frozen. The shaking and mumbling all stopped. But the tears kept on coming. His eyes now open in shock, and his mouth slightly agape. I stare in curiosity and confusion about what was going to happen next. He turned his head, searching around the room, seemingly looking for something. I notice his wings flutter and shake, something he'll do to sense the environment around him. That confused me even more. Keigo again started to shake and tremble. Reassuringly I rested my hand on his knee. Suddenly, his golden-amber eyes met mine.
"Y-Y/N?"

Brothers are golden
Characters: Henry Cavill x female reader
Word count: 895
Warnings: Fluff, it’s so sickly sweet that you’ll get a toothache
Author’s note: I needed a break from homework, and what a better way than to write a flash fiction. I hope you’ll like it. I haven’t written fanfics in years, so I am a little rusty.
I do not own any of the characters in this short story besides the reader, who is a figment of my imagination.
MASTERLIST
Feedback is appreciated.
Tumblr media
The room was quiet. His four brothers were sitting on the sofa watching him pace the room. He was nervous. Of course, he was. It was his freaking wedding day. He stopped in front of the mirror, adjusted his tie for the hundredth time that morning. He was anxious to see you. He couldn’t wait. He went out the door towards your dressing room, his brothers didn’t stop him. He knocked. The door was opened by two of your bridesmaids. They wouldn’t let him in. He would see you at the first look in 20 minutes. They gave him a notebook to write down whatever he wanted to say. He sat down on the chair across the door and wrote a two-paged message to you, then he walked towards the rose-garden, where he would meet you, soon.
What he didn’t know as he waited, you read his message. He had written down why he loved you. That you meant the world to him. That you were the most precious person to him. That you were the calm to his thunderous storm. You were his sun, moon, and stars. You were the light that guided him in the darkness. He wondered why you had chosen to be with him for seven years without once complaining about his work schedule. He was always traveling, always working, always training, always on a diet, always tired when he got home from a 14-hour workday. Of course, you had fought from time to time, but you always made up, never went to bed angry at each other. Your makeup had been ruined by your crying and needed a touch-up. His heartfelt message made you want to see him as soon as possible. But you had a plan. A plan that you had already put in motion. Oh, you hoped the photographer you had hired would film the whole thing.
The rose-garden was in full bloom. Red, white, and pink roses were everywhere, surrounding him. The smell of the beautiful flowers reminded him of you because you used products containing rose water. The photographer walked towards him. Telling him that it was almost time. He turned to look towards the fountain in the middle of the garden. The mermaid statues holding amphoras overflowing with water. He heard footsteps on the stairs behind him. His hands got clammy, his heart was beating a million kilometres an hour, his mind racing as well, thinking about what dress you had chosen. His knees were buckling. He just wanted to turn around and see you.
The photographer motioned for him to turn around as he walked around to film him turning towards his bride. But it wasn’t you standing in a wedding dress. It was his younger brother. They had found a dress big enough for him to squeeze into. His eyes started watering. His mouth opened and only laughter came out. He went down on his right knee, continuing to laugh his heart out. Then his three older brothers came out in wedding dresses as well and in high heels. His laughing fit got worse. This was the funniest thing he had ever seen. His stomach hurt from laughter, his throat was getting coarse, but he kept laughing. Tears were streaming down his chiselled cheeks from his sky-blue eyes.
His brothers came over to give him a group hug, which just made him laugh even more. They all laughed with him and at each other, because trust me, it was a hilarious scene in the rose-garden. The photographer motioned for the brothers to move away since it was now your turn to come to meet your future husband.
You walked down the stairs. A wind catching your flowy white dress. His eyes nearly fell out of his head. He was still wearing the huge smile from when he saw his brothers, who had gone back to change into their tuxes. You slowly approached him. He took your hand in his and kissed both your cheeks, your forehead and then your lips. A sweet chaste kiss. He touched your foreheads together and whispered all the things he loved about you. That he was the luckiest man on earth to have you. That you wanted to marry him. You cupped his cheeks and looked into his teary eyes and told him all the things that you loved about him.
“My sweet love. I love you for your kindness that you showed me when we first met, and I dropped all the contents of my handbag on the Underground. I love your subtle humour; you can make me laugh no matter the situation. I love that you are passionate about the things you do, you never do anything half-assed, it’s always 120% or nothing. I love that you are dedicated to your work, to your family, to your four-legged companion; even when he’s snogging more than half the bed. I love that no matter how busy you are that you always find time to text or call me. I love that you always come home after a long cruel day, even though you could just book a hotel or sleep in your trailer. I love that you love me enough to want to marry me. I love that you chose me out of 4 billion women that exist in this world. I just love you, Henry Cavill.”

Field of Dreams
Tumblr media
Part 2 of 2.  Y/N has a surprise for Steve when he worries about the fallout from their spat.  Fury and the Avengers just might, might, also be involved. ^_^
A little baseball history, one huge surprise, and a spark that begins to flame.
Rating: G. Steve Rogers x Reader.
@nomadicpixel‘s winning fic from my Cleveland’s loss to Boston.  As usual it isn’t short (what moi?) but was such fun to write.  I know waaaaay too much about the ‘Trolley Dodgers’ now.   Enjoy!
-------------------
“Still can’t talk to women.”
Bucky shakes his head, reaches across Natasha’s yogurt and Clint’s pancakes with his metal hand to snag the very last strawberry while Steve sits and glowers at the morning’s feed.
It’s humbling.  Frustrating and embarrassing all at once, but unfortunately the straight up truth.  He can’t talk to women and the evidence stares up from his Starkpad.  Y/N’s elegant brows crashed together, his own mouth set in a line below the blaring headline:  ‘Unfriendly Rivalry?’
“Tell me something I don’t know,” he mumbles dejectedly, running a hand through his still-damp blond mop. The past three days of coverage have been appalling.  Blogs and pundits shredding Fleur and Y/N for speaking out.  Blaming her for the entire stupid mess.   Branding her as some sort of Feminazi for daring to argue with America’s Hero.
It’s so unfair.  Misogynistic and unbalanced and sticks in his craw because the truth is he is the one who is in the wrong.
He shifts awkwardly in his seat “How did we go south so fast? I apologized for the tweet. She was gracious and understanding and I just…”
“Couldn’t let go of something you see as wrong?”
The whole table bursts out laughing. Sam’s throaty chuckle echoes.   Bucky’s head back guffaw trails up towards the ceiling.  Clint looks like he might pop the latest stitches in his gut while Bruce reaches for a napkin to wipe his streaming eyes.
Thanks. Thanks guys.
Nat smothers her own knowing smirk in a dainty coffee cup while he groans and tries to hide his head in his hands.  Point to the assassin who always goes straight to the jugular.  He knows the whole thing is pointless but games at Ebbets Field with Bucky were some of his fondest memories from before the war.  It rubbed him wrong.  Got his back up and heck he should have known to back down from the edge but that doesn’t mean that he always can.
“I am an Idiot.”
”Confirm!!”
“Tony!”
“If the suit fits, Cap. Morning all.” Starks’s CEO saunters in and swipes a piece of toast from Bucky’s grip,  flips a chair back to front and casually sits astride.   Their chief needler is dressed for corporate battle in a Givenchy three piece suit.    He ignores the protest of ‘Hey!’ and wolfs his purloined breakfast down.
“Snooze you lose, Winter.  Head on a swivel.”  He grins in the face of Bucky’s glare as Bruce, ever the peace-maker, sets another piece on Bucky’s plate.  “Not that I think Miss Y/N will be too upset by the result.  There is no such thing as bad press in this biz.”
“Not upset?!”  Steve’s jaw hits his knees.  “Even the Post and Times have carried it on page 3!”
“Exactly.”  Tony points with an absently filled coffee cup. “Headline coverage is headline coverage. The whole country is talking about it. The assholes who told her to get out of the boardroom will drive up her sales in sympathy.”
Steve bites his lip.  “Really?”
“Yup.  They’ll get a nice bounce out of this and probably a few million follows.  Wish I’d thought of it.”
From somewhere above Clint’s purple arrow mug there is a strangled snort. “You, publically picking an argument?  That’s not news, that’s an everyday occurrence.”
“Sure thing, Birdbrain. At least I….”
“Guys.  Guys.” Steve puts up his hands.  The morning’s habitual serving of trash talk is giving him a headache.  He rubs his temple and tries to think this through.  Should he make some sort of statement?  Tweet out an apology? Would flowers and a note be more personal or should he assume she wants nothing to do with him in this universe or next?
That last thought makes the bright sunny day feel like a wall of cloud’s rolled in, but who is he kidding?
Expressing himself had gotten him into this mess.  The last thing he wants is to make it even worse.
“What should I do?”
The table falls uncharacteristically quiet.  Sam claps him on the shoulder as he rises and takes his dirty dishes to the sink. Bruce mumbles something about ‘relays’, following Clint’s retreating back.  Bucky, the traitor, puts his metal hand out as if to say, ‘don’t look at me. you’re on your own pal.’
The only two left in support are pointedly ignoring him.  Tony and Natasha hover over their Starkphones, avoiding his pleading gaze until, suddenly, Natasha’s ‘pulls’ up a page to float, glowing blue, above the jam.
“I think it’s been decided for you.”
Steve blinks, quickly scans the hologram of the New York Times fifth page while Tony whistles low. “Brilliant. They’re freaking brilliant. I’d like to poach their PR rep.”
Natasha thumps him on the arm. “Tony. Focus.”
“Just kidding.  Ah, not actually.  But I will send a few tens of million their way.  Jarvis?”
<Sir, it is already done>
“Excellent.”
While Tony texts Pepper excitedly with this news, Steve, slack-jawed, reads the page size Invitation in detail.
It is blue on white, stamped with the Dodgers official logo and signed with the sort of flourish gained only from practicing calligraphy.
Tumblr media
Natasha’s smiling so wide he can see her pointy teeth.   Tony is grinning from ear to ear.  And Bucky, Bucky is trying to hide a tear.
“Every boy’s goddam dream Stevie,” he says, “She’s got class.  Class and guts.”
That she does.  But holy hell.  Him play in a game? He’s so rusty a swimming pool of oil couldn’t help. Besides, when the Avengers have some downtime they more often kick a soccer ball around.  Sure he’s thrown out ceremonial first pitches since coming out of the ice, but the last time he’d hit he could barely connect the ball and bat.  Now?  Serum’d up?  Would he explode the ball like Randy Johnson did a bird?  Would it leave orbit and be a danger to traffic on Elysian Ave?  He’d have to dial it down.  Check his swing somehow.  It’s worrying, but the sweet reality of jogging freely around the bases without wheezing or coughing up a lung hits home.
Wow.  It would be fun.  You never forget the smell of popcorn and hotdogs and chalk and…..
A little anxiety starts to set in. “I haven’t played in seventy-seven years.”
“Seventy-nine,” quips Buck. “High school gym class.  You bunted and Mickey Ryan got to pinch run.” His best friend shakes his head and reaches for his phone, pulls up the Dodgers’ message app.   “You’re going man.  And we are going with you.”
Steve blushes.  Gives in to reality.  Yes he’s going.   And inside--in his heart of hearts--- he’s looking forward to seeing Y/N too.
----------------------
July 1st..
“Good morning Captain Rogers. Welcome to Dodger Stadium.”
“Good morning Miss Archer,” Steve shakes hands with Fleur’s Press Secretary, stands uncertainly on the pavement outside the Player’s entrance.  It’s warm and not too windy, perfect playing weather, but already he has a little trickle of sweat down his back.  Astride the doors is the welcoming committee: the team’s Clubhouse manager, assorted assistants and one extremely starry-eyed ball boy.  He shakes hands and greets them all, tryies not to notice the crescendo of clicking automatic flash.
The press hounds gathered in a less welcome contingent are making him nervous to say anything.
“Please call me Stephanie,” says the fresh-faced young woman in Dodger blue holding the days jam packed schedule. “I am helping LA today.  And don’t mind them Captain.  They aren’t allowed in the locker room.” She points a stylus toward to the blue tinted glass doors. “Come into the club house and we can get you suited up.”
Steve follows the ticking of her high heels into a hushed and new smelling corridor and then through one-way glass doors to arrive in a brightly lit but utterly unmodern room.
“What the?”
He stands speechless; stock still in the open central space, and his mouth is open and catching flies.
The LA locker room has been transformed.  Instead of high tech monitors and computer feeds and OLED TVs, the room is hung with old style Dodger pennants.  Pictures of 40’s Brooklyn.  Advertisements for the ‘Subway Series’; the  41 and ’47 World Series played by two New York teams: the Yankees and his ‘Dem Bums’. The lockers are mostly empty, a few hung with wooden hangers and old-style jerseys, baggy knickers and long blue socks.  Before each cubbie is a wooden stool.  And on the few laden shelves are blue caps and helmets with the familiar ‘B’.
Exactly as the Brooklyn clubhouse would have been almost 80 years ago.
“We thought this might be your size,” says Stephanie, leading him by the elbow to a spot with pride of place beside the onfield door.  The white cotton of the home uniform is soft, stitched with exactly the swooping letters of yesteryear and about two size larger any other that he’s seen.
“You did this…?”
She nods and smiles as he gingerly takes the deep blue helmet down. “The whole team and management. I know Brooklyn didn’t used to wear helmets back in your day but the League insisted.  This is a regulation game and the bats are rather stronger now.”
And so am I, Steve thinks, settling the heavy plastic down over his head.  It’s snug, fits so exactly he suspects Tony has been involved.  Only the cheek-guard feels odd.  He rolls his neck a little, trying to get a feel of the slightly lop-sided weight.
“Miss Y/N figured you are used to wearing helmets.”
“Yeah,“ he blushes, looking down and amazed to find a familiar pair of dark all leather cleats.  “Do you do this every year?”
Stephanie’s lips twitch as she barely conceals a grin. “No sir.  Just this one.”
All this for him?   Incredible.  Steve’s throat closes up.  “Uh.. uhm.  Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me,” the blond ponytail gives a shake, “thank Miss Y/N. It was her idea.   I’ll leave you to dress and then you can exit through that door and meet her at the gate.”
Soon enough, Steve is left to dress all by himself.  He shrugs out of his shirt and chinos, pulls on the kit and fumbles with the knickers’ blue belt and loops.  What a time for butterflies.  He’s nervous, he really is, caught between wanting to help a team and just take in the wonder of it.  There’s a number 41 on the jersey’s back--Harry Taylor’s number musn’t be retired.   Will they play him in left field like the big Irish slugger?  If he was coach he would.  Steve doesn’t know the plays, the cutoff points, or the signs.
He finishes tying the (perfectly fitting) cleats and stuffs white batting gloves into his back pocket feeling mostly set.  A quick few strides takes him through the home team tunnel.  It’s weird-there’s no one hanging round, no one snapping pics or asking for photographs.  He hustles a little more and then stops short just where the sunny square of outside light blinds him momentarily.
The clubhouse was a dream but this is something else.
Dodger stadium is dressed up like Ebbets Field.  Low swagged banners for advertisements on the bleachers.  Vendors in vintage dress.   Pennants for a World Series win in1955 and six for National League championships.  An organ’s live music is playing over the speakers and not a recording system.
And on the first and third base lines the ‘home’ and ‘visiting’ teams are all lined up.  Twenty-five guys in Brooklyn white and blue, twenty-five in LA grey.  Some of the current team and veterans of many ages.
They stand at attention with caps over their hearts.
Wow.
“Number 41, playing for Brooklyn, Steve Rogers!!”
The announcer’s words are drowned by the roar of the swelling crowd.   Steve starts forward, intending to take his place at the end of the home team line, but he makes it only to near home plate before his feet become glued again.  The audience is on its feet.  Stamping.  Shouting. Cheering on not Captain America but a man who’s had this dream.
Forever.
It can’t be real.  It can’t, but he looks up to the owner’s box and there are the Avengers assembled in Brooklyn Blue.  Whistling and clapping.  Waving flags of oldtime Dodger blue just like the crowd.  As thrilled for him as he is.
He doffs his cap and turns around, slowly, carefully; waving it to acknowledge the entire park.
“Captain? Steve?”
He shakes himself out of a daze and turns to look down at Miss Y/N who stands just at his elbow. She is smiling, pretty and perfect in a Brooklyn ball cap and summery light dress.  Her long dark hair is glossy and flowing down her back and incongruously he wants to tuck away a stray strand that floats in the wind.
“Fine Miss.  Just shocked.  Amazed.”  His tongue can’t manage anymore.  His heart is pounding and his chest is tight and he know it isn’t asthma but isn’t sure quite what. A hearattack? Impossible?  Anxiety? No, he’s happy not upset.  Happiness?!  Most likely. It seems to be that her hand is warm on his.
She’s moving to pull him over to the teams, set to introduce him but they stop a moment.   He’s having trouble not tearing up.  Her brow furrows worriedly.  “Are you ok?”
Not really but then none of this seems real.  “Fine, fine Miss Y/N.”
“Call me Y/N, please.”
“Thank you. Y/N.  Tell me..” he asks quietly.
Her cap tilts up and she has to shield her eyes from the sun. “What?”
“Why?  Why did you do all this?  You didn’t have to. You….”  could have hated my guts forever, he wants to say but manages to keep it in.
Y/N gives a quiet sigh. “I thought about it. What I said and what you said and I realize that I was wrong.  Our situations are totally different.  When my team was traded I was furious for months.. years honestly, but I had that last game at Olympic Stadium.  I got Gary Carter’s autograph and Pedro Martinez’ too.  Said goodbye.  Kept a souvenir ball.   You didn’t have that time to grieve.  When you woke up they were gone and that was a cruel surprise.  I can’t turn back time, but I can take you a little of the way there.  Let America’s hero have the chance to play.  And give your Dodgers’ the proper send-off you deserve.”
Steve is gobsmacked. This incredible, amazing, baseball crazy woman has changed this game just for him.  He stands staring down at her, wondering how he got so lucky.  He ticked her off and she’s still coming back.
Like Peggy.
He stands a moment, stunned by his own realization and watching her rummage in her purse.   She shoves a scoresheet and binoculars aside and pulls out something that looks suspiciously like a ball.
“Steve I wanted to apologize.  And the game is that, but also I got you this.”  She puts the scuffed up, flaky old leather of a Brooklyn ball into his upturned palm.
“It’s…”
The home run ball he caught on May 26, 1941.
The game that Shield played on the oldtime radio as he was waking up in another world.
The blue ink of the date and name were faded but unmistakeable. The poor agent greeting him could have never known.  Of all the games to pick..one burned into his memory.  The Brooklyn Eagle had run a picture of him and Pete Reiser on the center of the sports page: the skinny ‘local kid’ giving back to the Rookie of the Year his very first home run ball.  That dinger had tied the game, launched Pistol Pete onto a year of league-leading runs.
Of course Steve could never forget it.  It was, he’d once assumed, his fifteen minutes of fame.
“How?”  Did you know?
Y’N laughs.  It wrinkles her freckled nose adorably. “If you thought baseball was good for stats, just see the MLB now! It wasn’t hard to find.  A Steve Rogers in the forties catching Pete Reiser’s first home run ball.”
He supposes not. But… he scans her face.  She can’t know that that was the game he woke up too?  Or can she?  Did Fury get involved?  Was this another way for him to apologize for his little trick?
And does it really matter anymore. He scuffs a cleat against the astroturf.  “Look I’ve been an…”
“Ass?”  Y/N grins as she can’t help but tease.  “I am not the one known as ‘America’s Ass.’”
He laughs.  “Not in these baggy things.”
“I don’t know they aren’t so bad.”
Are they flirting?!  Oh god they are and he hasn’t blundered yet.
He throws the ball nervously from hand to hand.  “It’s too much..it’s….”
“Just what you deserve.”
After that they go down the lines; shaking hands with every coach and player new and old.   The day is to honour old timers and Steve is delighted to find it includes six players still alive from before the team was moved: Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale and Cody Bellinger,  Branch Rickey who he remembers enlisted in the Army in ’42, and Tommy Lasorda, player and then winning coach.  They are wrinkled and grey-haired but still hold their gloves with ease, josh with him about being the perfect designated hitter for a team, cat call the ‘vistors’ who are mostly LA alumni.
Soon it will be time to take the field.  One last handshake to go.  Y/N directs him along to the next in line and he looks over to find the young LA short stop who had been there is gone.
Replaced by a white-haired, thin bearded man in uniform and wheelchair.
“Would you like me to autograph that for you son?”
This time Steve’s jaw hits the floor.  “Pete…?”
“Reiser..yup.”  The old man taps his head.  “So lucky to be here.  96 years young. 1 year younger than you are.. though I’ll allow it you look a little better.”
Steve laughs and shakes his head. “I can’t believe it.”
“Yeah, well somedays neither can I,” Pete chuckles.  “Got all my faculties if not my legs. Dodgers in LA. Who would have credited it, but sometimes change is good.  These bums keep winning championships.”
Steve smiles. Perhaps he’s right, but Pete was the guy that won them a pennant after twenty years of drought. “You almost turned them round, Sir.”
“Now quite how I remember it. But I do remember a scrawny kid who volunteered to give me my ball back.”
Of course he had.  It was what a good fan does.  Steve flushes.  “I am so honoured.”
“That makes two of us, son.”
Steve looks up to cheering friends and then back at Y/N.  She’s held her official boardroom style composure for an hour under the sun; introduced with pride every player new and old, but this time it’s she that can’t speak.  Wipes tears from off her cheeks; smiling freely and quite unconcerned that Fox Sports is televising this live.
No way she doesn’t understand how important this moment is.  And Reiser. Who’s had to give up his ball.
Fury’s so going to hear from him.  Later.
There’s a faintly impatient ‘Cap’ and Steve turns quickly back.  Pete’s gesturing, beckoning him down and so he drops down on his haunches. The old Dodger leans forward and taps a gnarled finger on the ball.
“Super serum or whatever, lad let me give you some advice.  You see that one?”  He points over Steve’s shoulder to Y/N who is distracted, joking with A.J. Ellis who will the catch the game.  The sun is bringing out red highlights in her hair.
“Take it from me, I can tell.  She’s sweet on you.” A pair of watery blue eyes twinkle.  “And Lordy she’s a keeper.”
“Yes sir.”
Steve rises and on Tommy Lasorda’s signal jogs out into centre-field.  Once there he punches his hand in his glove, plays a few rounds of long toss, and stands, not quite able to take it in.
The noise.  The smell.  The sheer huge expanse of field.
I am so lucky to be here.  So blessed.  So hoping I don’t drop the ball.
He doesn’t realize he murmurs the last out loud until Bucky’s voice breaks into his earpiece.
It is the one concession to Stark’s vigilance.  “Of course you will.”
“Punk.”
“Jerk.”
Steve laughs.  His and Bucky’s friendship, unlike the Dodgers, will never change.  As he waits, nervous and excited, for Clayton Kershaw’s windup,  he looks up to the owner’s box and reflects that, after all, Pete Reiser may be right.
Sometimes change is good.

The World is Black
Pairing: roommate!Harrison Osterfield x Reader
Prompt: “we can’t go back in time, so stop trying to reverse what you said.” (with a slight alteration to the wording to make it fit better. oops)
Warnings: cussing and angst
Word Count: 4,254
A/N: this is part of @h-osterfield ’s 5k writing Challenge! Also yes, my dumb ass named this after a Good Charlotte song, but it was playing when I was writing and like the lyrics fit. So SNS.
Tears were streaming down her face as she stood outside her apartment that night. Suddenly it didn’t feel as much of a home as it did just hours earlier.
Y/n had spent that Saturday morning with her best friends and roommates, Harrison and Tom. They usually went out to get coffee on Saturday mornings, but Tom was feeling under the weather so she decided to make them all tea at home instead.
Their busy schedules kept them from seeing much of each other on weekdays, even though they all lived in the same apartment. Y/n worked varying shifts, sometimes getting off by 3pm and sometimes working graveyard. Tom and Harrison each had different exhausting filming schedules. The only thing the three had in common, work wise, was their shared day off: Saturday.
This meant that they usually spent all day Saturday catching up. They talked about their work weeks and personal lives, anything that hadn’t been apparent during the few times they would see each other within the confines of their apartment during the week.
This Saturday, y/n was quieter than usual. Both of the boys noticed, but neither of them wanted to say anything. Eventually, she piped up, but they could sense her nerves.
“So I know we usually spend Saturdays together, so please don’t hate me, but I may have maybe made plans, maybe.”
“With who?” Tom teased, knowing her well enough to see that this was the cause of her nerves.
“Doesn’t matter,” she muttered, hoping they would leave it. But the boys were nothing if they weren’t persistent, a characteristic that could both be endearing and infuriating.
“Oh come on, if you’re going to ditch us, you have to at least tell us who’s lucky enough to be stealing you away,” Harrison pestered.
After a few minutes of them insisting, she finally gave in, telling them she was going on a date with a co-worker, Kyle, who she had told them about plenty of times before. Nothing she had said had been very good though, so the mention of his name made both of their faces fall.
“Isn’t that the asshole who tried to touch your ass a couple months ago?”
“And that’s why I didn’t want to tell you guys.”
“Y/n, you can’t be fucking serious. The guys a prick, why would you be going on a date with him?”
“Believe it or not, I’m a big girl. I’m capable of making my own decisions.”
“Apparently not. Give us one good reason why going on a date with him is a good idea,” Tom asked, giving her a pointed look. She rolled her eyes and got off of the couch, taking the three tea cups into the kitchen with her to wash.
“I really don’t need to explain myself to you guys. But he’s taking me to an early dinner. So I’ll be leaving around 5. I should be back in time to watch a movie with you guys, though.”
They boys shared an annoyed look with each other. She had endless stories about this guy, each one with the same theme. He didn’t know how to treat women. He had made so many inappropriate comments to y/n and her female co-workers. He had gotten away with every count of sexual harassment. His silver tongue could talk his way out of anything, but it helped that their boss was a 55 year old widow who thought he was just adorable.
Y/n left the room before they could protest. It was only noon, which meant she had 5 hours before Kyle was supposed to pick her up and take her to her favorite restaurant. She didn’t want to avoid her roommates for that long, but she felt like it was her only option. Being around them was just going to result in them harassing her about the date, and she didn’t want to talk about it with them.
She really didn’t want to go on the date anyway, but this was about the hundredth time Kyle had asked her, and each time she had said no he backed off for only about a day before he would ask again. Every time she would tell the boys about it, they would be on her side, calling him a prick or an asshole. But her mother was another story. She was the kind of woman to ask for grandchildren once her children turned 18. When she found out that her daughter was moving in with two boys, she was certainly hopeful there was a marriage hidden somewhere in her future with one of them. And y/n would be lying if she had said that she hadn’t have hoped for the same thing.
She had met Tom at a party in the summer after high school. He was charming, sure, but she wasn’t attracted to him in that way, and he loved that about her right off the bat. Of course they flirted from time to time, but it was always teasing and platonic. But the second he had introduced her to Harrison, she felt her heart explode. His eyes were like nothing she had ever seen and she had the sudden urge to run her hand through his hair.
6 years later, at the age of 23, she still couldn’t admit to anyone that she felt that way about him. She told Harrison and Tom everything, except for the fact that every time Harrison did so much as look at her she thought she would die. 6 years of friendship and the fireworks she felt every time he would hug her hadn’t died out. But the fear of losing both him and Tom was too real. She didn’t want him to be weirded out and not want to be around her, and of course him and Tom had more history than she had with either of them, so Tom would obviously choose him over her. And now that she was living with them, that would have meant either having to move back home or finding a new roommate. Neither option was desirable, so she chose to live with the fact that she was hopelessly in love with one of her best friends.
Which only gave her more reason to go on this date. She had to get over Harrison at some point, and no one else was volunteering to take one for the team and let her date them, so she caved. If it meant it could get her mother off her back and get rid of the guilt of loving Harrison, she was for it, despite her hatred for the boy.
A knock sounded at y/n’s bedroom door an hour later. She was watching something on her laptop, but paused it as she called for the person to enter.
Harrison came in with her favorite mug, filled with a delicious smelling soup.
“Hey, I made lunch, figured you’d want some.”
She nodded excitedly, reaching her hands for the mug. He chuckled and brought it to her, sitting next to her on the bed as she took it.
“We didn’t mean to upset you. You’re not mad are you?”
“Not anymore,” she joked, gesturing to the soup, causing him to chuckle. He had a strange nervous energy to him, something she hadn’t seen in him often.
“We really want you to come sit with us again. We’ll shut up about the date, promise. This is just the only chance we get to see you during the week.”
The thought of him wanting to spend more time with her made her heart swell, so she agreed to go join them again.
“You know, you guys don’t have to baby me. I know exactly what I’m doing.”
Harrison frowned as he did his best to hold back every hurtful comment he had about Kyle. He just didn’t understand how she thought that going out with him was a good idea.
When y/n had told him and Tom about Kyle trying to grab her inappropriately, an anger bubbled up inside of him, an anger that resurfaced with every mention of him from there out. Hearing that she was going to be alone a date with him made Harrison extremely nervous. He wanted nothing more than to ask her to just cancel, to just stay in with him and Tom like every other Saturday. But Kyle’s personality wasn’t the only reason he didn’t want her to go. He was hurt that she would choose someone like Kyle over him, although he refused to accept that his jealousy was because of his budding feelings for her.
Just like her, he didn’t want to complicate things. So each time he had the urge to lean in and kiss her, he would instead replace his emotions with a sense of frustration. He had had a few outbursts with both her and Tom because of this. He just couldn’t control the stupid things that came out of his mouth in an anger caused by his frustrated heart. But he couldn’t rid himself of the butterflies he felt when she smiled.
“We just want what’s best for you, love.”
“Who says this isn’t what’s best for me,” she mumbled, hoping he didn’t hear her. But he did, and it stung. Just knowing that she could possibly think Kyle was better than him was a punch to the gut.
He got up and headed towards the door waiting for her to follow. As she approached him, standing in the doorway, he paused. His heart was screaming at him to say something, but his denial of his feelings stopped him from saying what he should.
“Just promise me one thing,” he said instead.
“What?”
“If anything goes down tonight, anything you don’t like, you call me and Tom. And we will take care of it.”
“Ok, dad,” she laughed. He was rarely this protective, but she definitely wasn’t hating it.
“I’m serious,” he chuckled with her, the crinkles under his eyes making her heart flutter.
“Ok, I’ll call you if anything happens. But it won’t.”
They returned to the couch with Tom who immediately began to whine that his common cold was going to be the death of him.
When y/n eventually got up to get ready, she felt bad for leaving the two on the couch, but there was no way she was going to cancel last minute. Her manners were too good.
So she got up and put on her favorite dress, with earrings to match. She curled her hair and put on an amount of makeup that she hoped was acceptable. She called a goodbye to the boys as she went out the door, receiving some less than excited farewells from her roommates.
Harrison immediately got up and got some beers from the fridge after she left. The feeling in his chest seeing her in that dress, the admiration of how beautiful she looked and jealousy that it wasn’t for him, wasn’t going to go away on its own.
Kyle was waiting outside, standing on the sidewalk with a bouquet of flowers, a good sign right off the bat. But those flowers were no indication of how terrible her date was going to go. He played terrible music in the car there, which wasn’t anything she would have complained about later on, but it was just the beginning of her misery. Once they sat down for dinner, Kyle barely paused for breath between boring stories about himself. None of them were cute anecdotes, they were all just opportunities for him to brag about himself. It was made obvious within the first five minutes that he had no intention to get to know her. She assumed that this was how all dates went with him, and although she had worked it up in her head that she needed to get back out there and start dating, she was now sure that Kyle was not the guy to do that with.
In the middle of one of his stories, y/n’s phone went off, lighting up with Tom’s name. Her anxious nature couldn’t let her skip a call from her sick roommate, and it wasn’t like she was exactly invested in the conversation anyway. So she excused herself from the table, telling him it was an important call and that she would be right back.
Once in the open air in front of the restaurant, she answered the call with a “This better be good” but was met with no response. She could just hear some muffled talking, and some bottles clinking. She immediately knew that Tom had just butt-dialed her. The boy could barely use his phone with his fingers, but his pockets made up for it. He made over 10 accidental calls a week, most of them to either her or Harrison, so this was nothing new.
She was about to hang up, but she heard her name come from one of the muffled voices.
“I just can’t believe she’s being so dumb.”
“That’s a bit harsh, Haz.”
“No, it’s not, she’s fucking idiotic. Who goes on a date with someone like that?”
“Harrison!”
“You’ve heard the same stories that I have! The guy is a terrible human being, but here she is, whoring herself out to him.”
The voices kept going, but y/n wasn’t listening anymore. She pressed the end call button as her arm dropped to her side. Tears were threatening to fall, and she didn’t want Kyle to see her like this, so she texted him to let him know that an emergency came up and she had to leave. Of course, he never replied to the text, but she didn’t care how rude leaving halfway through a date was at that point. Harrison was right about one thing, Kyle was a dick, but as far as she was concerned, Harrison was on the same level after those comments.
Their apartment was only 5 blocks away, and y/n was thankful that she had decided to not wear heels on her date. She spent the walk trying to think of how she could deal with the situation at hand. She felt weird telling them that she had eavesdropped in on them after Tom accidentally called her, it felt wrong. But there was no way she could just pretend like she wasn’t hurt by Harrison’s words.
If only she had continued to listen in on their conversation, she would have heard Tom call him out for his hateful words.
“Mate, not cool. Don’t talk about her like that!”
After a few seconds of careful consideration, Harrison mumbled out that he didn’t mean it.
“This is like the seventh time you’ve said something like that. It’s almost like it only happens when she shows interest in another guy. What’s up with that?”
Harrison didn’t reply, just tried to avoid eye contact with his best friend. What could he say? He loved her? He couldn’t even admit it to himself.
“Oh my god, I’m an idiot. How did I not fucking see it before?”
“See what?”
“You love her don’t you?”
“Shut up.”
“No, yeah, that’s why you get all angry every time something like this comes up. I’m a fucking idiot for not connecting that, holy shit…”
“Tom, shut up!” Harrison exploded, a blush creeping up his neck and over his cheeks.
“Haz, don’t deny it. And you better not be an ass when she gets back. You should tell her how you feel! I mean, we both know nothing is coming from a date with a guy like that.”
“You really are an idiot.”
“You pushing your little crush aside isn’t going to help anything. You need to tell her.”
“I can’t, Tom.”
“And why not?”
“Because… I can’t lose her.”
The pain was evident in his voice, making Tom’s heart constrict. He didn’t know how y/n felt, but he knew the kind of person she was, so he knew that even if she didn’t feel the same way, she would never be cruel about it. They would remain best friends, because no matter what, she loved him at least that much.
They continued to go back and forth on the topic until they heard y/n’s keys in the front door.
When she got to the apartment, it was evident that she was upset. Despite her best efforts, a few tears had slipped down her cheeks, and walking home in the cold didn’t really help her mood. When she reached their front door, she took a deep breath and decided to just rush to her room and try to avoid the boys. It wasn’t like she was going to have to talk to them until next Saturday anyway.
She opened the door, ignoring the looks she received from the boys on the couch. She slammed the front door, something she did not mean to do.
“Hey, how did it go?” Tom called from the couch. Harrison sat quietly, hoping her response wouldn’t hurt him too much. But she didn’t respond. They both looked at her to see the small lines of mascara running down her face as she hung her keys up by the door.
Both of the boys called her name as she headed for her room. She prayed that they would leave her be, that they would just shrug it off and go back to their stupid conversations, but the worry grew in both of them. They worried what could have happened on the date with Kyle that could have gotten this kind of reaction out of her. They both got up from the couch, rushing down the hall to her. Harrison got to her first, grabbing her wrist before she could close the door in their face.
“Hey, love, what happened.”
She jerked her hand away from him, growling at him not to touch her. Both of the boys looked at her in shock. She never acted like this towards them. Even when she was upset with other people, she never took it out on them. Their minds were racing as to what could have broken her nice exterior.
“What did he do?” Harrison asked, receiving a scoff from her.
“Believe it or not, he was a perfect gentleman. Even brought me flowers, even though I was just, you know, whoring myself out to him,” she spat, refusing to make eye contact with either of them.
Her words rang through Harrison’s head, instantly sending a rush of guilt through him. She went to slam her bedroom door, but Tom stopped it from closing.
“What are you talking about?”
“You butt dialed me, Holland.”
He cursed under his breath, trying to vouch for Harrison immediately, telling her he didn’t mean it, but she didn’t want to hear it. She should have known Tom would be on Harrison’s side.
“Tom, please shut up. I just…. I’m going to go spend the night at Allison’s. I’ll let you know if I’m coming back.”
Her coworker Allison had spent the night with her after countless heartbreaks, so it was only natural for her to go there to avoid the boys. She had no intention of actually not coming back, she had no idea why she said it, but it made both the boys panic.
“Y/n, please don’t be ridiculous,” Tom begged, praying that Harrison would take over any second and try to make his mistake better.
“I really don’t think I’m being ridiculous, Thomas. Your best mate just called me a whore. I think I have every right to be upset.”
“Y/n….” Harrison began.
“No, I don’t want to hear any more from you. I think you’ve said enough.”
“Please, I-I didn’t mean it like that.”
“Harrison, believe it or not, we can’t go back in time, so don’t try to reverse what you said. You said it, you’re gonna deal with the consequences.”
Tears were streaming freely down her face at that point, but her voice never faltered. She grabbed a bag from her closet and began to throw items in it so she could leave. Tom left the room, giving Harrison a stern look on the way out.
“Y/n, please, stop packing.”
“You know, you were so worried about Kyle hurting me tonight. Really made me feel like you cared about me. You really got me fooled there. It’s like poetic justice that you were the jerk to hurt me in the end.”
Her words cut him, but he knew he was deserving. What he said was terrible, and he regretted it. He could be a real idiot at times. But there was no way he was going to give up on her.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“Your intentions didn’t matter. Just because you didn’t want me to hear what you were saying doesn’t make it ok. You still fucking hurt me.”
“I didn’t mean it how I said it though.”
He expected her to spit another hurtful line at him, but her silence was somehow more painful.
“I-I’m sorry. But in my defense, you were going out with a complete dick. He didn’t deserve you, and I just don’t fucking understand why you would go out with him.”
He hated himself for defending his insult, but the words were falling from his mouth and he couldn’t stop himself.
“I mean you knew he was a prick, you complain about him all the time, but here you were suddenly defending him. Even after how he’s treated you, it just makes no fucking sense.”
As his temper grew, she stopped packing, just stood staring at the wall. He could see her holding her words back from him, physically straining from the pain of keeping the tidal wave of hurt inside. It took all of her to reserve her words.
“Well why the fuck did you go out with him anyway?”
“Because he asked!” She exploded, finally filling her angry silence.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“I mean… no one else was asking. And I’m not getting any younger. And according to my mother, an asshole is better than nothing. So, I’m sorry that he didn’t meet your standards, but I was doing what I thought was best for my future.”
“You thought you had a future with him?” he scoffed. The question came out as cruel, but that wasn’t his intent. He just couldn’t say anything right. She didn’t make an effort to hide her offense as she began to pack the bag again.
“No, fuck, I didn’t mean it like that,” he reached out and grabbed her arm, hoping she wouldn’t jerk away, “I just meant… well he’s not good enough for you. The guys a dick.”
“So are you,” she whispered, making him chuckle sadly.
“I’m a fucking idiot.”
Her heart was swelling with too many emotions, both positive and negative. Her head was anything but clear and everything felt overwhelming. She sighed and rested her back on the wall previously in front of her. She slid down, resting her forehead on her knees, trying her best to not scream to her hearts content. She just wanted to not feel anything for a minute. She wanted to put all emotions aside and just figure out what she was supposed to do. Harrison had just called her something she found unforgivable, but here she was, feeling the crush just as much as usual.
His heart broke as she dropped down to the ground, hugging her knees to her chest. Her sniffles echoed in his ears, amplifying the guilt he felt. Of course he didn’t mean what he said. He had never viewed her as anything less than perfect, but his jealousy got the best of him. It made him say stupid things on multiple occasions, but this was the worst he had done, the worst he had felt.
He cautiously kneeled down next to her, resting his hand on her shoulder. If she had pulled away from him, he wouldn’t have tried to touch her again, but he wanted to comfort her. She welcomed the touch, but she didn’t look up at him.
“Love, you need to believe that I didn’t mean what I said. I was being a div. I am so sorry. Please, tell me what I can do to make it better.”
She finally looked up at him.
“If you didn’t mean it, why would you say it?”
They looked into each other’s eyes, a tension building between them. This time it wasn’t angry or hostile, just curiosity and nerves.
“I-I don’t know.”
“Harrison, I know you wouldn’t say something like that just because. There was something behind it. I just… I don’t know if I can forgive you for that.”
And he understood. He wanted to beg, but it wasn’t getting him anywhere, so he decided to give it up. The guilt finally consumed him and tears began to stream down his face. He never imagined that he could hurt her to the point of no return. Of course he wanted her. He wanted to tell her that he was just jealous, although that was no excuse. But he couldn’t. So he decided that letting her be angry at him was deserved, and that he was going to accept his consequence.
He watched as she got up and packed a few more things into her bag. Her eyes looked vacant went she turned and glanced at him on her floor, before passing him and closing the front door.
A/N: My sorry ass couldn’t leave it like this, so keep an eye out for part two, coming to a theatre near you

The final standings in Newcastle Pro’s Queen of the Castle tournament have been determined, as Indi Hartwell, Madison Eagles, Shazza McKenzie and Harley Wonderland face off to become the inaugural women’s champion on May 5th. Eagles and Wonderland’s qualifying matchups were held as part of Saturday’s show in Charlestown, New South Wales. Without a doubt, the former SHIMMER Champion managed to best Bel Pierce while Harley, a ten-year veteran in her own right, defeated newcomer, Azalea. Hartwell defeated Jessica Troy in their qualifier back in Janaury; Shazza followed suit the next month and beat FaceBrooke in their matchup at the tail-end of February… Meiko Satomura is the brand new Fight Club: PRO Champion after successfully unseating Chris Brookes in the main event of Friday’s show in Wolverhampton… La Vaquerita used a double underhook piledriver on Metálica during their matchup on Saturday and its reported that Metálica needed medical attention afterward… Mayu Iwatani lucked out in regaining the World of STARDOM Championship from Toni Storm at Sunday’s show in Nagoya, as the titleholder picked up the win after two Strong Zeros to retain in her third title defense. She became the brand new OTT Women’s Champion after beating Martina in the main event of Sunday’s show in Dublin. The promotion, Over The Top Wrestling, organized it’s first female-card that afternoon at the Tivoli Theatre, with names like Katey Harvey, Nina Samuels and the latest European booking for Jordynne Grace, Kris Wolf, and DASH Chisako. Three qualifying matches were held as part of the lineup, as the winners, Sammii (bested Samuels), Raven Creed (defeated Debbie Keitel) and Harvey (defeated Valkyrie) with names like Katey Harvey, Nina Samuels and Raven Creed making up their three qualifying matches advanced to the four-way final where they faced now-former titleholder, Martina, for the championship. Jayne won the match and is now a holder of five separate titles, including the EVE Championship, the Discovery Wrestling Women’s belt, the Revolution Championship Wrestling women’s title and the Main Event Wrestling Women’s strap
Here’s a look at what’s going this weekend on the North American indies, overseas in Europe and elsewhere…
More than a month ahead of their scheduled title matchup, Toni Storm and Jinny will square off in Kenner, Louisianna on Friday for PROGRESS’ show at the Pontchartrain Center. However, the rules will not permit for this matchup to be a straight up, one-on-one contest, as instead, Storm will be teaming up with Shazza McKenzie in one corner while Jinny has recruited Mercedes Martinez to be her partner. Regardless of who prevails in this matchup, Storm has three titles defenses to knock down in Australia before finally getting to face Jinny on May 20th in Manchester… Charlie takes on Aria in Launceston, Tasmania on Saturday… Beyond Wrestling has a full-on, intergender wrestling card booked for Thursday’s show inside the same building. Deonna Purrazzo will be getting a shot at one of the indies’ top prospects in Matt Riddle when the two face off. Jordynne Grace and LuFisto will be taking on Mike Draztik and Angel Ortiz (EYFBO), while Thunder Rosa and Holidead challenge Chris Dickinson and Jaka in another matchup. Mia Yim will be taking on three opponents, as she faces Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Wheeler Yuta, and Tessa Blanchard. Toni Storm will also be apart of this card, as she goes up against Timothy Thatcher. Penelope Ford and Joey Janela will also be in action, as they face Orange Cassidy and Martina. Jessicka Havok and her opponent, Jimmy Havoc will finally meet in a matchup that seems to have been in the making forever…
In one of the few shows happening outside of the Louisianna state lines, Terra Calaway, Mickie Knuckles, and Maria Manic will all face off for H20 Wrestling’s event up in Williamstown, New Jersey… Barbi Hayden teams up with Joey Ryan to take on the teams of Lacey Lane and Black Danger, Christi Jaynes and Oráculo, and Diamante and Douglas James at The Crash’s event in New Orleans on Friday… Xia Brookside, Millie McKenzie, Kat Von Kaige, Jayde and Candyfloss square off for Shropshire Wrestling Alliance’s show in Telford on Saturday… LuFisto is set to defend the SHINE Championship at WWN Live’s Super Show in New Orleans on Friday… Meiko Satomura is probably going to kick Jessicka Havok’s head off at Pro Wrestling Revolver’s show on Saturday in Kenner, Louisianna. Martina will also be apart of that show, as she teams up with Joey Ryan to take on Colt Cabana and Marty DeRosa… Candyfloss, Kat Von Kaige and Jayde’s additional opponents for Shropshire Wrestling Alliance’s show on Saturday in Telford have been revealed and it will be Millie McKenzie and Xia Brookside joining the mix… Savanna Stone defends the ZERO 1 USA Women’s Title against Kara Noia on Saturday in Mattoon, Illinois…

SHIMMER presents their one-hundredth show to date on Saturday as part of the weekend’s crowded environment, which witnesses an entire city being encompassed by professional wrestling fans from various walks of life. Mercedes Martinez’s anticipated rematch for the title headlines the card, with Nicole Savoy making her second defense of the belt since retaining against Jungle Kyona over in Japan.
