Anzac Day. Lest we Forget 2020. Barnes Darling #respectanzacs B Company 6 Machine Gun Battalion 2nd AIF led by Lieutenant Colonel Hearne marching through Wollongong 1942 with fixed bayonets after being granted freedom of the City of Wollongong. 6 Machine Gun Battalion was formed from Companies from eight Battalions across NSW. This included 3 officers and 121 men from 34th Battalion Illawarra Regiment all local Illawarra men.
