On the sandy shore of a lake, Derek and Stiles set down their towels, a cooler, and lastly themselves. There’s no one else there, seeing as it’s private property, but also because everyone’s left the area to drive north to get a better view of the solar eclipse. What Stiles wants to see, however, has nothing to do with the sun, but what’s supposed to appear in the lake during the eclipse.

Here’s a little not!fic for the @sterekwritingroom flash event for the Solar Eclipse.

A little context before going into the thing:

So, we were talking with @yodas-yo-yo and @halekingsourwolf (you’re the one who asked us so you get credit too!) about the eclipse and what consequences a total solar eclipse would have on werewolves and we came to the conclusion that werewolves powers/senses are upped by the solar eclipse and that they feel it hours/days before and after the event and that they’re the most at peace with their inner wolf at this particular time. Also there’s a big international gathering where the Eclipse happens with werewolves (and other creatures) from all around the world like Woodstock but for werewolves. Also sex is A+

The pack discovers the thing about the eclipse after an almost fight with another pack.

The other alpha just told Derek he was “lucky for now” and that they’d “settle this after Wolfstock”.

The pack goes, “Hu? Wolfstock???” so Derek has to tell them everything.

Tells them that every time a total solar eclipse happens, there's an international gathering of all kinds of creatures -but mostly werewolves- starting a few days before and going til a few days after. That there's also an international truce so that’s why the other pack had stopped everything for now.

Derek tells them that the regular custom if you can’t travel is to meet with the packs from your area or just have a big celebration with your own pack.

The pack is floored because “What the fuck Derek! It’s 2015 and you still haven’t told us about this after all these years??”

Derek admits under his breath that he went to a few of them with his family and that it’s something he’ll never forget, can’t forget, and that it’s hard to think about going again without them.

So they let it go for this year and end up doing a pack meeting where they just do nothing except watch movies, eat food and feel super relaxed.

They miss it again the year after because it’s in March and in South-Asia and they have school/work obligations they can’t escape so it’s another instance of bad timing.

Which leads them to this year’s eclipse which is actually in America, in summer and they have all the time to enjoy it.

“I feel like Harry Potter going to the Quidditch World Cup!!” Stiles is literally vibrating and barely manages to contain his energy. The eclipse is already acting on his emissary powers and his euphoria spreads all along the pack bonds.

They’ve travelled east to Hopkinsville, Kentucky (where the eclipse will last the longest) three days before the event and join the Wolfstock people in a field a few miles away from the town.

There are booths and tents everywhere, people from all around the world, and so many languages it’s like going to Disneyland.

They find a spot for their tents and once everything’s ready they pull out blankets to lie on and take a nap or go wandering for the less tired of the pack.

Derek tries to get away from them for a moment because he’s a little bit overwhelmed by the memories. Not ten seconds after he leaves, Stiles comes up at his side and just bumps his shoulder with his in silent acknowledgement.

They end up going to see the booths and buy food and meet a lot of new people. Derek lets Stiles do most of the social part and just spends his time gazing at him softly, watching him be happy. His heart still clenches a little bit thinking about his family but he’s happy to be here with his new pack and these new people who love him. But especially this boy, now a man, who just embraces everything without looking back and never lets him down, and if Derek gets a bit emotional it’s just because of the eclipse, ok!

Stiles shakes him out of his thoughts by grabbing his hand because “Come on Der’ there’s a fairy band on the main scene!! I wanna see it!” and just doesn’t let go. Derek’s heart stops a little bit every time Stiles moves because it reminds him their hands are touching. No biggie.

Stiles interlaces their fingers and Derek has a minor heart attack.

So his wolf is literally doing backflips in his mind. Whatever. It happens. Must be the Eclipse.

Derek casts a glance at Stiles who’s dancing a little, looking at the scene with the biggest smile ever and a lot of red on his cheeks.

The bond feels like a glitter bomb ready to explode all over him at any moment.

Derek has never felt this calm and this alive before so he does the only thing that makes sense, and puts his other hand on Stiles’ face to turn it his way and kisses him.

They don’t get out of their tent much over the next few days -solidifying their bond in every way- except on the day of the Eclipse when a chorus of surprised woofs and shout rises from the other tents.

Stiles goes outside to see all his werewolf friends turned into actual wolves, and an exhilarated laugh escapes him when he feels a bump on his knees and wolf Derek is here, his eyes shining with happiness.

When the Moon starts hiding the Sun, all the wolves howl in unison and time stops its course to seize the perfection of this instant.

So I saw Jon last night at NC State and before the concert, we went behind the stage and we were within ten feet of Jon and his crew. They were warming up and getting really hype. Then, his band left to go up on stage and it was just him in the back and I called his name and waved and he smiled and waved back and I gave a thumbs up and said "good luck" and he gave me a thumbs up, smiled, and said "thank you" before heading on stage. I also said hi to Travis, Julien and Dexter. It was an amazing night that I definitely needed. I'm still an emotional mess though lol
