It wasn't what he wanted to hear, but he understood. At least, the idea of what Fumikage was saying. "Man, your school must be really tough on you, but that will definitely make you into a better fighter at the end of it. When I trained with my master, he was the same way, and even made us train in these giant turtle shells while delivering milk!" Fighting wasn't even part of their training until much later but he knew Master Roshi wouldn't have let them do so recklessly.
Goku laughed at the memory, one hand scratching sheepishly at the nape of his neck. How quickly those days seemed to have gone now that he looked back at them, but at the time each day felt as if it stretched into eternity.
"Well, if they ever let you, I'd be glad to be your sparring partner." Maybe he should point out the direction he lived in case Fumikage ever wanted to come by? But Goku would need to get some altitude to make sure he had the right direction.
Tokoyami didn't really know if the two of them sparring was the best idea. Sure, there wouldn't be any harm in doing that, but he was a bit worried that it may cause some issues if they did end up hurting one another. He knew that U.A. would not be happy at the fact that he went and just fought someone without saying anything and he knew that there was a very good chance of one of the two of them getting hurt. At the same time, however, he did like the idea of fighting him.
It did at least give him an idea of how much he had improved over the past few semesters and to see where he could still improve and such in the future. That was something he could consider. But. . . he still held off on the idea, in his mind, because he wasn't sure if it would be something that he could necessarily get away with if his teachers or a bystander found out.
❝With all due respect, Goku, I am unsure if doing something like that would be in my best interest. I'm sure that it would be an interesting time for both of us and could show just how much I have learned in my past few semesters, but I don't want to run the risk of my school finding out.❞
He sighed and reached up to rub his neck, knowing that it likely wasn't something Goku had wanted to hear. But, at the same time, he just didn't want to do anything that could possibly put him in a bad spot. Maybe if this was a more controlled environment, he would agree. But due to that uncertainty, he was against doing it currently.
❝I'm aware that this is likely something you didn't want to hear and I apologize. However, we can still talk about our abilities to one another and I can always see about getting permission from my school to fight. They have told us time and again to not use our abilities unless it is necessary. And, in this case, I do not think a spar would fall under that.❞

What a very interesting night, the figure at the mouth of the alley muses. It sucks it's teeth, eyes tracking the movements of a figure across the street. A UA student, a hero one, no less. It would be impossible not to know who this person was. Tokoyami Fumikage. One of those 1-A students, being targeted by villains every other business week made you a bit of a well known face. The shadow pockets the heavy switch blade that was loosely turning in its hand. The blade quietly settles in the pocket of his baggy jeans, nestling deep and becoming a comforting weight.
The figure pushes off the wall it was leaning against. Face twisting from the sour expression to a carefree smile. One misaligned tooth glinting in the gleaming fluorescent lights streaming out of the convenience store windows. Out of the darkness of the cover, Hanta approaches with lackadaisical steps, both hands stuffed into his hoodie.
"Hey there! You're one of those UA hero students, right?" He tilts his head, words leaving with a light and airy tone, one hand up in a small wave. Hanta glances around them, taking a discrete look around in case there were any other nosey students or maybe some sort of chaperone, wouldn't want this fated interaction to be cut short before it's even started. "I hope I'm not bothering you so late at night!"

Kitt kept her attention on Tokoyami as he responded to her explanation about the risks involved in her portal jumps. She had to admit, she was mildly amused by the way the teen viewed and thought about certain things. Usually, someone his age wouldn't really show as much insight as he has in the short time they've been conversing. The fact that he seemed to have more wisdom then some adults that she knew made her need to hold back a small chuckle.
She continued to listen to the young hero trainee speak about his mentor. It was plainly obvious how much respect he had for them. However, when he mentioned the bit about being used to gain intel on other students, that did cause the felinoid to raise a curious brow and give off a puzzled hum.
"Hmm ... Well that's a little odd, ain't it? .... So you were sent by your mentor as an informer about your own classmates? ... Forgive my boldness, but ... That feels just a tad shady ta me" she commented in a mildly skeptical tone. Due to her own profession, the cat woman was naturally keen towards anything that seemed even the least bit .. underhanded. Why would a bunch of adult heroes want to spy on a bunch of kids barely old enough for university?
Kitt's own childhood felt so distant .. And her life back then was a stark contrast to what it has become now. Someone who grew up in a somewhat high middle class when her parents were still around .. But after that fateful day of the accident, the felinoid's world went topsy turvy and was never the same. She fell silent and very briefly was lost in thought thinking back on those times before looking back over at the teen.
"Sorry that you've gone through all that ... Your situation's quite unique, ta say the least .. An' I can't honestly say that I know exactly how you felt .... But you've told me yourself that you've managed to form a close bond with him, no? .... An' trust me, I've learned long ago that you can't simply judge others based on how they appear .. Because those that do, don't know what alliances or friendships they might miss out on .. An' that would just be their loss, not yours" the felinoid replied in a gentle tone. Though she didn't mention it, the way Tokoyami described people's fear of his Dark Shadow nearly reminded her of someone she knew personally. A certain king who was always ridiculed for what he was .. And was always on edge, worrying about totally losing himself to his instincts one day ... But, that could be a discussion left for another time.
After hearing Tokoyami's reassurance that she had not been a burden, Kitt blinked with light surprise before offering a soft smile and nodding.
"I appreciate that! .. Truly I do .. But I was more referring to the folks I know in my life .. My friends an' comrades, an' all" she began before giving off a half-hearted chortle.
"If I managed ta burden you in barely an hour we've spent chattin' .. Believe you me, even I would've been surprised"
After listening to the avian teen's remark and assumptions of what she would do if things ever got dicey with her travels, Kitt gave a small hum before leaning back into her chair. Giving it some careful thought, she lightly shrugged as she gave her answer.
"Well, as I said ... Whenever I come up with a different combination of windin' the dials and how I place the hands on the watch, it's all random pretty much" the felinoid claims nonchalantly. Finishing the last bite of her croissant, she reached for her nearly finished cold latte.
"There are a handful of patterns that I'm already familiar with .. I know exactly where they go since I use them quite regularly ... An' I have them memorized, of course" Kitt simple states, gently tapping the side of her temple in emphasis. "Any new places that I should happen ta find .. Such as your city, for example .. I always make sure to take note for future reference" she responded, taking a sip of her drink before continuing.
"The only possible safe way to avoid any possible mishaps would be for me to just take a careful peek outta the portal ... If it's a 'no go' then I make a fast retreat .. If I'm unable to .. Like if I'm being followed or chased .. Then, in most cases, I'd have ta take a leap of faith" the felinoid mildly shrugged. In honest, she had gotten into a few situations where she had been on the run and was able to escape via her special pocket watch. Some very rare close calls, as well.
Upon hearing Tokoyami's concerns of her device ever falling into the hands of the wrong people, Kitt nodded before answering.
"No need to worry about all that! .. I normally keep it hidden an' don't let folks know about my watch .. Not unless I fully trust them .. An' thankfully, I have a few people who I truly trust with my life" she assured the teen with a small smile. As far as the cat woman was concerned, Tokoyami's inquisitive nature and sense of justice despite the hardships he constantly faced gave the felinoid good enough reason to trust the bird-like boy. Something she very rarely did with new acquaintances.
"Thankfully, I haven't really 'portaled' myself smack dab in the middle of a crowd of folks ... But that may've been just some rather good luck on my side"
When Kitt heard the teen talk fondly of his mentor and how worried he was about being gone on a secret mission, she props her chin on her folded hands .. Slightly amused by the boy's gripe.
"Your mentor sounds like a good egg, then ... If hero work is as demanding as it sounds, then I wouldn't stress too much about it ... I reckon someone as seasoned an' experienced as he is knows more or less when's the proper time ta get into contact with you again" the cat woman reassured the aquiline student. She then raises a mused brow towards him. Her mirthful side smile returning as she affirmed his other point.
"Tis very true! .. I mean, I can see a hero's what you're truly strivin' ta be in the future ... But, to work to the point where you're wearin' yourself down an' not enjoyin' your life .. Especially now .. It can leave you with some .. regrets, in a way ...... Plus, I honestly don't see how somethin' as tedious as calculus could be of any major use to you, no?" she chortled through her nose, along with an eye roll.
At Tokoyami's apology for practically info bombing her with all his woes and frustrations, Kitt simply waved it off in kind.
"Ah no worries there! .. I really don't mind hearin' out the troubles of folks ... In fact, it's quite a good way ta relieve stress an' the like, though it can be quite difficult at times, I'll admit" she sympathized wholeheartedly with a slightly somber smile. It was obvious that it was something that she herself had also struggled with a lot.
"Trust me, I perfectly understand how ya feel not wanting to feel like a burden"

A fighter at heart, Goku was instantly interested in what Fumikage had to say. "Wow, that sounds impressive! Can you show me? Better yet, let's spar!" That really got his blood pumping. "If we go outside of town, then no one should get hurt. It sounds like we'd both do a lot of damage if we fought around here."
He still didn't really get the U.A. thing or the pro-hero stuff, but he knew that, like him, Fumikage was a fighter, and that's all that really mattered. The World Martial Arts Tournament had taught him that there were several fighters out there that could teach him in ways he never imagined. Although Piccolo had been a formidable foe, he regretted that he didn't have someone like him to spar with more regularly.
Tokoyami took a step back as he watched Goku begin to use his hands to create a giant ball of glowing light. Tokoyami's eyes widened slightly as he watched, half expecting for him to use it and throw it into the nearest building, but. . . that never happened. He couldn't help but feel there was the slightest bit of disappointment that came with that, but at the end of the day, it was probably for the best that he didn't use it to hurt people.
But, seeing something like that had not been something he had seen before and he was entirely unfamiliar with it. However, it seemed that it would be a good thing to use when fighting as it could take out many enemies at once, but he wasn't sure how good it would do in a situation that involved rescuing someone.
But, maybe there could be some use for it in that regard. What that was? He wasn't sure.
At the mention of him sharing names and also the ask of if he was a fighter, Tokoyami grinned a bit and held out his own hand to shake it in response. How he hadn't shared his own name with him, he wasn't sure. But, at least they were going to discuss that now.
❝Apologies for that, I thought we had done introductions already,❞ Tokoyami chuckled, ❝My name is Fumikage Tokoyami, it's a pleasure to meet you, Goku. And, in a way, I am a fighter as well. My power allows me to fight enemies at almost any range, but can also be used as armor, to increase my mobility, and can also be used to rescue people in need. It. . . basically acts like an older brother to me and takes a shadow-like form, that I call Dark Shadow.❞

"Ahh, well... It's like... I just sort of... I'm no good with words actually." Goku burst out laughing. All that build up for nothing.
Instead, Goku cupped his hands and between them appeared a ball of light that vibrated with energy. "It's this but a lot bigger!" Goku arced his arms wide in demonstration. "And I build it up before I release it. Anything it hits is gonna get hurt real bad so I don't use it recklessly." The ball of energy disappeared and Goku was smiling once more.
"Hey, I don't think I got your name. I'm Goku!" Goku held out his hand. "You have a really discerning eye! Are you a fighter too?"
Tokoyami gave a short nod as it seemed Goku was understanding what his question meant now. That was his fault for not explaining it properly, but again, he had been told most people referred to their power as quirks. He hadn't met too many people who didn't call it by that name and in situations like that, or even now, he had to quickly change what he called them so the person could understand. It wasn't their fault, it was just how Tokoyami had been raised and all.
He folded his arms across his chest as he looked up at the tall man in front of him, intrigued to see what kind of quirks he would have. It seemed like someone that looked like Goku would already have strength down as one of their quirks, but at the same time, it could have also just been the fact that Goku was incredibly strong to begin with. And it could be anything that the man had maybe wasn't considered a quirk, Tokoyami didn't know.
But all it had taken was Goku to catch the attention of Tokoyami walking down the street for this conversation to have started in the first place.
As he mentioned one of his techniques, a small eyebrow raise came from Tokoyami and he cocked his head off to one side for the moment. He had never heard of something like that, but it was intriguing to him. . .
❝From the sounds of it, I imagine it would be something that could destroy this area with no problem,❞ he chuckled, ❝Could you possibly explain what it does? I imagine it has something to do with either the ground or the air, but. . . I guess whatever it is, would be strong regardless.❞

Goku still didn't think it was enough but, then again, not everyone ate as much as him.
He listened to the other man's explanation, and then realization dawned on him. "Ohh! Why'd you call it a quirk?" How strange. It was just about how strong he was.
That said, where did he even start? Goku had learned a lot over the years. Ki manipulation, sensing, dozens of different techniques, yet none of it ever felt enough.
It was true that he was strong and that he could fly but Goku didn't really consider those things as part of his 'power', they were just second nature. To think of them otherwise didn't occur to him.
"My best technique is the Kamehameha Wave. I'd show you it but it's pretty destructive." He laughed sheepishly. It was too crowded in the city to attempt anything like that.
Tokoyami didn't know if he was supposed to be surprised or not when the man said he hadn't heard of his high school. Sure, there were loads of schools across the country, but one that was as prestigious as U.A. was widely known by plenty of people. Perhaps this guy really didn't come to the city often. It basically seemed that Tokoyami was being drawn more and more toward that opinion with each passing moment. Not that it was a bad thing, he just hadn't met someone who was unaware of the things that were, well. . .
Normal in this society.
Tokoyami raised an eyebrow at his comment about the food and it remained there as he began to explain that he could catch fish with his bare hands. And something about a tail being a past function as well? There seemed to be a lot to learn about Goku and Tokoyami was picking up on that relatively quickly.
❝I assure you, this is enough food. I'm not normally the best cook, but I've been trying to learn more and more and this is all I feel that is needed to try some new dishes,❞ he replied with a shrug, ❝Hearing about you being able to catch a fish with your bare hands is. . . interesting. Does your quirk have to deal with your hands and fists then?❞
In that moment, Tokoyami realized that maybe Goku didn't know what he meant by quirks. If he had described the ability to catch fish, maybe he thought they meant something entirely different. So, he might explain that as well.
❝When I say quirks, I mean like. . . your power. Like having incredible strength, being able to shoot flames from your hands, things like that. I don't think I made that very clear before and I apologize for that.❞

Goku crossed his arms. "U.A. High School?" He thought long and hard about it. Chi-Chi talked a lot about schools because she wanted Gohan to go to a good one, but he'd never heard of this one in particular. No, he was pretty sure it wasn't on her list of potential schools for their son. Goku shrugged helplessly. "Sorry, haven't heard of it."
He caught sight of his 'groceries' but Goku looked aghast. "Is that enough? That would barely be a snack for me." And where was the meat?
Back to the quirks thing. "Uhhhh... Oh! I can catch fish bare handed. I used to use my tail but then it got cut off. Never took any bad guys down with my tail, though." It had actually been a weak point of his but that was besides the point now.
Tokoyami blinked once as he looked up at Goku as he asked about the pro-hero thing. He was going to make a comment about that, but as he began explaining a bit more, Tokoyami began to realize that maybe this guy didn't come into the city too often. It wasn't that weird for someone to come down and visit from one of the villages and towns up in the mountains and Tokoyami knew that well. After all, he had some relatives who lived up in some mountains on the mainland of Japan.
Tokoyami stayed silent for a few moments as he listened carefully and he crossed his arms over his chest as he listened to the man continue. So. . . he apparently had a lot of quirks huh? And he trained in martial arts as well? That seemed like a pretty decent combination for someone who may want to be a pro-hero.
But, at the same time, if this person didn't even know what a pro-hero was, then maybe they had some other uses for their quirks. It wasn't like everyone used their quirks for fighting villains, after all.
Tokoyami lifted his head to look up at him a bit more and he chuckled a tiny bit when he asked about where he trained. It wouldn't be terribly hard to figure out where he did train and went to school thanks to him wearing his U.A. uniform, but it didn't appear the guy recognized the outfit or the logo.
❝I train at U.A. High School,❞ Tokoyami responded with a nod, ❝I'm a student training to become a pro-hero, the people that end up fighting villains a lot and such. I was actually on my way back from gathering some groceries, but you caught my eye.❞
At that, Tokoyami held up his bag that he had slung over his shoulder to show a few items, most of them related to produce like Apples, some other ingredients to try and cook what appeared to be ramen, and a few drinks. As much as Tokoyami didn't like cooking (mainly because he wasn't too good at it), it didn't mean he didn't attempt it all.
❝If you don't mind my curiosity, what kind of quirks do you have? It seems that someone like you might just be able to take a few villains down with just pure strength alone.❞

Goku didn't mind in the slightest, and in fact turned toward the young man with curiosity of his own. It wasn't often he was approached with such a question.
"What's a pro-hero?" Goku tilted his head. It wasn't anything he had ever heard of, but then again he lived in the mountains and spent his time training or with his family. Chi-Chi was the one who came into town. "I'm definitely for heroes." That must be what he was asking.
But he was stumped again only a few moments later. "Well, Chi-Chi says I have a lot of quirks! And definitely a lot of power!" There was something he knew! "Do you practice martial arts too?"
Goku proudly displayed the turtle hermit insignia on his chest. "I trained with Master Roshi! Where did you train?" He looked over his clothes but didn't see symbols he might recognize.
@soulcluster liked for a starter with Tokoyami!
Tokoyami was no stranger to coming across a bunch of different people who had interesting and new quirks in his studies at U.A. Although he was now in his third year, there always seemed to be something new he came across every now and again and he was always happy to learn about the different things that people held as their own powers. While it was a very common thing, he still did also find some people that looked a bit out of place, but that mainly came down to the different hero costumes that a lot of people seemed to wear everywhere.
However, that didn't mean he wouldn't stop and look at someone who was wearing something like he had seen that day. A guy wearing an orange jumpsuit, of sorts, with spiky black hair, standing tall amongst a crowd of people. While nobody seemed to mind, something about him was telling Tokoyami that there may be something a bit off about this specific person.
Whether that was their quirk or something else, Tokoyami wasn't sure. But, whatever the case was, he seemed drawn to the person. To talk to them and ask them about their quirk and discover something new. Because if the orange outfit was anything to go by, then perhaps they had a new power that Tokoyami had never seen before.
While he was no Midoriya in finding out people's quirks, it didn't mean he wasn't interested.
❝Apologies for coming up and being so blunt,❞ he began as he appeared next to Goku and glanced up at him, ❝But you seem to stand out a bit from the other people I've seen around here. I can't say I've ever seen someone wear only orange before. Are. . you a new pro-hero or something?❞
Tokoyami was struggling a bit to figure out how to word this. He didn't want it to come off as sounding weird, but at the same time, how else was he going to ask about this without it seeing weird in some way?
❝I just wanted to come over and ask about your quirk or power. You seem to have. . . something that is telling me you may be different than the other people I've interacted with before.❞

At Tokoyami's assumption of what the pocket watch's ability was, the felinoid casually sips from her already half empty cup of latte before giving a small affirmative nod towards the young hero-in-training.
"In layman's terms, yes! .. You're exactly right there, mate ... It's a very quick an' convenient way of getting from point A to point B without the hassle of planes, trains, an' the like .... But .. Just like with any tool or gadget .. You must always be mindful of what your doin' unless ya possibly end up in deep water .. An' I don't mean that in just the metaphorical sense, if ya catch my drift" Kitt clarifies. Raising a brow as she slightly stressed out that last bit of information. As with any type of device .. Be it mechanical, magical, or otherwise .. Great care must always be taken when using them.
The cat woman would then lighten things up a bit as she delved more into what it was actually like traveling via her special little time piece.
"Personally, I just call it 'portal jumping' .. Nice little ring to it, aye? .. Because it's exactly as it sounds like ... I simply summon a portal with a turn of the dial, a portal manifests in front of me .. Then I simply just .. go through .... Of course, I'm rather discreet whenever I open one up, of course ... Don't need any uninvited guests followin' me, ya know" she continues with an almost playful smirk, leaning in a bit and putting a gloved hand close to her face as if she was telling him a secret.
When the teen assured Kitt that there wouldn't be any issues with her staying in Japan since she would fit in just fine, the felinoid gave a soft chuckle before gazing over at the window next to them. She could clearly see people with all manners of looks and appearances out and about, mingling with each other and simply enjoying the last weeks of Summer.
"I suppose you're right!" she begins to say before turning her attention back to Tokoyami. "I wouldn't mind spending the rest of the day seein' the sights an' whatnot ... Phew! .. Though ta be honest, perhaps a winter visit might've been a bit more agreeable .. Particularly if you're of the furred type, no" Kitt adds with another chuckle before popping one of the last few bits of her croissant into her mouth.
As she listened to him mildly lament about wanting to be able to travel and see the world for himself one day, the felinoid tilted her head slightly before a warm smile comes to her striped face.
"Well .. To be able ta travel to new places is very freeing, to say the least ... An' a nice escape from whatever hullabaloo you're in is definitely a good way ta clear your head an' calm your nerves .... It has for me! .... So I honestly don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able ta do the same, as well"

It has for me! .... So I honestly don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able ta do the same, as well"
Kitt felt for Tokoyami's issues concerning societal control wholeheartedly. Their experiences may not have been quite the same, but just the simple distain towards total governmental power made to mostly benefit the higher ups was very much mutual. As far as the superpowers that were obviously a major factor here in Japan, the only thing that the felinoid could relate to in that part was through the experiences with her young deer friend, Lucy.
As of late, the little fawn girl had .. on several occasions .. unexpectedly predicted or seen certain things that she couldn't really explain ... Almost like, some sort of 'foresight'. Either way, it never truly bothered Kitt .. However, there were other people within her city that were quick to label the poor girl as a 'peculiar' .. Or even a 'witch', in much harsher terms .. And it would always irritate the cat woman to no end.
Not wanting to dwell on those things right now, Kitt let her mind calm a bit so that she can focus on her the avian teen's questions. Seeing how intrigued he had become with her device had managed to place a small smile back on the felinoid's face. Being one that tends to feed into her curiosities, she could relate to the young hero in-training .. And she was content to explain more about her little dimensional hopping trinket.
"I suppose it does sound like somethin' a child would've made up, in a way" she responds to the boy's comment with a soft chuckle before continuing. "An' unlike most of you folks here, I don't have any sort of natural born powers .. I'm just a simple traveler who's got a rather flashy an' convenient way of gettin' around is all" Kitt muses before sipping her ice mocha.
When Tokoyami asked if she was interested in returning home or not, the cat woman licked her lips before setting her drink back down.
"Usually after I use it, I'll give it a bit of a cool down for maybe a day or so, depending ... It can be quite the tricky little bugger ta repair, so I'd rather not risk overdoing it after a jump" she began as she tore a peace of her croissant.
"As for me wantin' ta go back home .. Honestly, I'm usually out an' about .. I tend ta go home only if I'm feelin' really exhausted or if I have any business that needs to be takin' care of" Kitt answers before popping the pastry morsel into her mouth.
"So I do plan on hangin' around for a spell .. Not in that much of a hurry ta get back to Dawnsburgh, really .... Hence, why I tend ta travel a lot .. Not only is it very enjoyable for me ta see new things an' meet new folks ... But it also gives me a nice breath of fresh air away from all the city's hullabaloo"

Not only is it very enjoyable for me ta see new things an' meet new folks ... But it also gives me a nice breath of fresh air away from all the city's hullabaloo"
Listening to Tokoyami talk of his brotherly bond with Dark Shadow, Kitt couldn't help but chuckle and be amused with it all. She had no true siblings herself, but she did have a close friend who she had always seen as a brother .. And like any other siblings, there had been many times when they had gotten on each other's nerves and would butt heads just because of their different ideals. Nonetheless, they still cared for each other at the end of the day. Thinking back on those fond memories did make the felinoid feel a tad melancholy. It has been a long while since she had seen or heard from him.
As the avian teen discussed about how the super powered folks are regulated by those higher up, the cat woman narrowed her wintergreen eyes slightly, giving a knowing hum. It reminded her somewhat of how society back in Dawnsburgh is run. Mostly by a bunch of old fashioned blokes who stubbornly hold on to old fashioned beliefs on how a city should be run and how it's citizens should act. And 'shockingly' .. at least not to her .. there was usually some sort of corruption or under the table deals that go on behind the scenes. She very much sympathizes with her young friend and his school mates.
"I see" she replies, leaning back slightly in her seat. "Unfortunately, there are many places that function that way in some degree .. Mine, included ... So I don't blame you at all for feelin' the way ya do .. It's very much valid" Kitt comments in a mildly bitter tone before taking another sip of her latte. Her own experiences dealing with corrupt judges and police over the years had pretty much solidified her personal feelings towards most people who 'follow the law'.
Thankfully, the topic would quickly switch up into something lighter and more palatable. When Tokoyami became curious of her special little trinket and how it supposedly brought her to Japan, the felinoid was only happy to talk to him about it. It may not look as impressive at first glance, but that would change once she gently popped open it's cover to show the watches face. He would see six pairs of hands .. Not just one ... All in six different colors of the rainbow.
"Well I wouldn't exactly say it'd take me where I want, necessarily ... For much of the time I've had this watch, it's only been able ta take me to only a handful of places ... Depending on which color of the hands I wind to twelve" Kitt explains as she points out the multiple colored hands on the watches face.
"You see, other than the gold pair of hands here .. which simply just gives me the time ... the other hands will send me to a certain place .. For example, the orange one will take me back home to Dawnsburgh .. And the red one here takes me to .. Well .. A kingdom far aways from here" the felinoid continued, though decided not to delve too far into that. She was pretty sure that that would be a bit too much for him to absorb in one shot.
"However ... over this past year ... my watch seems ta have gained more power .. An' as of late, it's been sendin' me to new places simply by winding the hands in a certain way .. No matter the color". She then pointed out the three dials on the side of the watch.
"I just happened ta be testin' out a new winding pattern with it .. An' before I knew it .. I was here" Kitt concludes, gesturing around with her hand a bit. She then sighs, feeling a bit sheepish as this was probably a load of unbelievable information that she just dropped on the poor boy.
"Look! .. I understand if all this just sounds like .. absolute madness ... Believe me, I probably would've thought the same if I was in your shoes right now"

"Look! .. I understand if all this just sounds like .. absolute madness ... Believe me, I probably would've thought the same if I was in your shoes right now"
The cat woman listened intently as Tokoyami began to open up more about his abilities. He truly didn't need to. If those were things he would've wanted to keep to himself, he had the absolute right to do so. He may not have had the eagle eyes that she had originally assumed, but what he disclosed to her was rather .. fantastical.
Kitt had never heard of such a power before, not even in magic ... Though, she reckoned that it still existed in some way ... One that she's yet to witness. Nonetheless, the talent that this boy possibly had didn't sound short of amazing.
"Good gods, mate! .. That's quite the talent, I've gotta say" she commented with wide eyes before comfortably resting her elbows on the table. "Though by the way you describe this Dark Shadow fellow of yours .. He simply sounds like another part of ya .. Or even like a brother perhaps rather than just a .. 'quirk' .. as ya call it" she gently pointed out with a small shrug of her own.
"But .. That's just my opinion, of course ... Didn't mean ta delve too much into it" Kitt added, not wanting to unintentionally offend if she did.
As the teen began to discuss how his power was perceived by folks, Kitt hummed sympathetically with Tokoyami's plight. She herself has been ridiculed and looked down upon because of her .. understandably .. dubious occupation. But, she had her reasons for choosing that path. Seeing that her new acquaintance was a hero in training, she figured it was best not to bring up that part of her life .. At least, not until she felt very comfortable to do so.
"That's sounds pretty rough .. Sorry 'bout all that .. Believe you me, I know what it's like ta feel like the odd one out because of what ya are" Kitt responds with an empathetic tone. However, her slightly somber expression brightens up into a slightly positive one.
"But no worries! .. There are a plenty of folks around who feel the same as you in that regard ... It's not your fault .. An' if they don't give the time of day ta bother gettin' to know ya, then it's their loss, not yours" Kitt informed in a matter-of-fact tone before tucking another bite of her croissant. She personally knew quite a few people in her life that were often judged on "what" they were instead of "who" they were ... Kitt knew better than most what was truly the most important part of a person.
As his inquiry of how she actually came to Japan finally came up, the felinoid simply made a small and almost mischievous smile after swallowing her bite. If the boy was comfortable enough to relay such personal information about his abilities to someone he had just met, then she honestly didn't see the problem of letting him into some of her own little secrets. Casting a short glance at their surroundings, she could see that the cafe had emptied out quite a bit. This made her feel even more secure to do so.
Reaching into her chest pocket, Kitt carefully pulls out her special pocket watch by it's silver chain. Gently laying the trinket in her gloved hand, she shows it to the teen. The cover of the watch was engraved with a sun-like pattern. It was the emblem of the city she was from.
"It may not look like much .. But this is how I tend ta get around ... It's not so much a superpower or anything like that ... I kinda just call it my .. little fast pass" the cat woman mused with a soft chuckle through her nose.

"It may not look like much .. But this is how I tend ta get around ... It's not so much a superpower or anything like that ... I kinda just call it my .. little fast pass" the cat woman mused with a soft chuckle through her nose.
Kitt politely enjoys her mouthful of pastry as she listens to the avian boy correct her about the type of training that he and his peers actually do. She was quite surprised to hear that there were actually places that basically taught kids to go up against villains. It made her secretly wonder just how bad crime was in this country in order to resort to going down such a route.
Either way, the felinoid became quite engrossed with the conversation.
"A school that pops out superheroes, aye? ... Well .. that certainly explains a lot! .. Mostly the folks I've seen outside usin' magic an' all .... Lovely ta see that it exists in the many places I've visited" she commented after finishing her bite. She then raised a curious brow towards the teen.
"So .. I reckon that means .. you're a soon ta be super bloke yourself then, yes" Kitt deduced with a small chortle. "Perhaps with that aquiline visage of yours .. I imagine you have quite the keen eye ta spot crooks an' miscreants from a mile away, no?" she added. She couldn't help but be thoroughly amused by the sheer irony in all this. But, as she had mentioned before, she was simply here on a little day trip. Nothing more.
When Tokoyami explained how tourists come here mainly to try to get a peek at the school, the cat woman couldn't help but poke just a little bit of fun at that.
"Hehe .. Sounds like you lot are livin' quite the rock star life ... I'm rather surprised you're out here an' not gettin' swamped by adorin' folks, in that case"
She was beginning to feel a bit more at ease talking with her new acquaintance. So much so that she didn't much mind revealing .. just a tiny touch .. of her ways of travel.
"Ta be honest .. Coming here was not quite my idea ... Or I suppose you could say, it was .... well ... random" Kitt simply replies with a small shrug.
At his sudden apology, the felinoid makes a puzzled hum before shaking her head.
"No need ta worry, Tokoyami .. You didn't waste my time at all .. In fact, you've filled in several gaps for me as ta why this city's the way it is ... I mean, quirks? .. Superpowers? ... This is quite the intriguing world that I've stumbled into" she proclaims before taking another sip of her latte.

She was beginning to feel a bit more at ease talking with her new acquaintance. So much so that she didn't much mind revealing .. just a tiny touch .. of her ways of travel.

Kitt listened as Tokoyami began to speak. He brought up the question of where she was from again, which caused her to raise a brow. She was quite certain that he had already asked that ... And she had answered him. However, when he suddenly seemed to stop midsentence, she wondered if he was alright .. Until, he brought up something about communicating with 'other students?' .. Which only got her a bit more puzzled.
The cat woman observed her new companion closely as he seemed to have some trouble formulating an inquiry. She thought it was a tad odd considering he was the one who wanted to talk initially. She mused to herself that the teen was perhaps a bit on the shy side. Though that wasn't quite the vibe she got off him initially.
At the question of her being an exchange student, Kitt blinked and perked up slightly before giving a small chortle. So that's what all that awkward silence was ... He was just wondering if she was in school or not ... At least, that's what she supposed. Either way, she didn't find it as anything to be all tongue tied about. It was a pretty basic thing to ask, really.
"Well .. Ta be quite honest .. My student years are way behind me .... But thanks for the complement, all the same" she jested before taking another sip of her cold latte. Her striped tail swayed lazily behind her seat. Every once in a while, it would swish to the side to let passers walk by.
"Bakugo?" the felinoid repeats with a curious, raised brow. For a brief moment, she thought Tokoyami was referring to an object of some sort that she wasn't familiar with .. However, things came together soon enough. "Ahh! I reckon they're a classmate of yours then, yes? .. Sounds like quite the handful if you're willin' ta offer 'him 'em up just like that" she replies with an amused side smile.
However, her ear would twitch with slight intrigue at the avian boy's mention of training.
"Trainin', ya say? .... Are you lot part of a sport's team then? .. What do ya play? .. Rugby? .. Football? ... I've heard baseball's quite popular here, as well" she commented as she decided to unwrap the croissant she had. It was warm, soft, and flaky. She had nearly forgotten how superb many of the sweets and desserts were in this country.
"Well I imagine Japan's quite the hot spot for tourists, no? .... I mean, I can certainly see the charm with the culture an' atmosphere an' all ... So, I doubt it'd really be that much of a shock" Kitt added with a soft shrug before taking a small bite of her pastry.
