Ahaha oh boy, here we go. The most important part of Saeed's lore.

The complete destruction of Rabanastre.

In the lore, this occurs 30 years after the initinal imperial occupation of the city, during the events of Stormblood. Quote from Eorzea Encyclopedia Vol. 3 (which I'm glad to have a physical copy of and can grab from my shelf!):

"The situation came to a head when Ala Mhigo and Doma's liberation stoked an uprising of heretofore unseen scale. This prompted the Empire to take drastic measures, and by the order of Legatus Noah van Gabranth, Rabanastre, the royal capital, was subjected to an aerial bombardment. Overnight, the Desert Sapphire was reduced to rubble, and those citizens fortunate enough to survive fled to nearby oases."

If that doesn't solidify enough the level of destruction that befell his home...

Yeah... Honestly the raid doesn't even portray how utterly anhillated the capital was.

Outside of WoL lore, Saeed was absolutely there with his rogue group as the destruction happened. It's scarring, both mentally and physically, to go through an event of this scale. To watch as a place you have spent 39 years of your life in be reduced to fire and rubble, to lose people you knew and cared about and be forced to flee knowing still that you'd be hounded for your involvement in the resistance.

In WoL lore though, it's absolutely more heartbreaking. Due to the events of MSQ taking his attention, he wouldn't have been there for the events. Hearing about it in the aftermath, from word of mouth from those he knew who survived as well as during the events of the Return to Ivalice raids, and feeling utterly useless in being unable to stop this senseless destruction. Going back there, seeing everything laid to waste, how bandits treated his former home as some playground to fight over hidden goods...

You can only imagine the pleasure he took in being involved in the events of Bozja and partating in the takedown of the Dalriada, the very leading airship that destroyed Rabanastre.

Because I am a little hobgoblin and I love to read about peoples' OC's, I wanted to chuck out a random WoLQotD that I didn't want to use as a single ask for my drive: What, in your opinion, is the most horrific thing about your character's story? Is it who they are and how they treat the world? Is it where they came from; the wars, political divide, state of their family, etc. Is it the magic they wield/was it an event that defined them?

I love a little horror/angst in my worldbuilding, so I want to hear yours.

The Construct 8 minion is canon for Saeed. Whilst being a fun little companion, it makes a GREAT calculator for when he's gotta divvy out gil to his gang.

Pros

Love languages are acts of service and physical touch. He will do what he can to make his partners know that he cares for them deeply.

Will cook for others and sees it as a way to bond if cooking together.

Great with kids (two of his own) and is just a family man. Natural fraternal and paternal instinct.

Happy to take the lead but willing to let his partners go at their own pace. Comfort for both parties matters the most so he'd do anything to make someone feel comfortable and confident.

Determined he isn't someone to be knocked down and stay down. Will get back up on his own two feet and carry on.

Loyal, you couldn't find a more faithful, dedicated and trusted partner.

Cons

Stubborn and reckless, to a fault. Will more than likely cause serveral instances of worry with the amount of troublesome situations he gets into.

Nosy, he really is someone that will learn a lot about someone to satiate his curiosity.

Whilst he does partake in spywork, some of his other jobs are a little less... Legal. What with being a rogue for hire and a lot of the work being thievery--

Even with most of the turmoil of home gone and settled, he still is a man with a price on his head, manhunted by those who still have deep seated grudges.

Never truly settled down, even with a home and a safehouse he and his family are rarely in one place at any given time. Hard to pin down.

Secretive and still reluctant to share much about himself. Trauma, distrust... It takes a lot for him to finally open up.

Details

Neatly kept hair, regularly maintains his undercut in perfect condition as well as upkeeping the bleached portion of his hair. Overall well kept, cleanly and smelling good.

He likes to think his charm points are his hooked nose and the gap between his front two teeth.

Ever growing connections, all of which he's rather close to. Most of them are found family back in his Resistance days, so it's certain that those he is with will be well looked after by his fellow folk.

Aformentioned two kids, twins, Polus and Leila. Sociable and open to meeting new people, but also willing to look out for their father and will question any commited partner he has (they only want the best for him!)

Avid coffee brewer, makes a wide selection of traditional Dalmascan caffinated drinks as a way to get comfy and settle down.

Hobby for weaving and embroidery, which make for really handy gifts!

Actually (mistakenly) bonded with a bunch of corvids which roosted nearby his family's home. Has amassed a collection of shiny little doodads and trinkets due to this.

Romantically: Best possible way to describe him is "disaster bi". Used to get around in his younger days, fall into bed with a mutual aggreement with whatever partners he had just to have a good time, but now has matured and wants to properly settle down with someone. Likes to think he's still got it, all that panache and suaveness from before, but honestly when becoming interested in someone or someone being intested in him... He flubs. Really honestly doesn't expect or anticipate someone showing interest in him, so it's always a pleasant shock when it happens! Once things become serious though... He's dedicated, will look after them, show them how he loves them in his own little ways. They will know they are valued, are loved and cherished, no matter what.

Sexually: As mentioned, he's very much experienced just... Out of practise, so to speak. Is open for a lot of things and has no perference with partners. Willing to experiment and try new things on mutual agreement, or purely kep things vanilla. Not so much into multiple partners in the bedroom, willing to see how a polygamous relationship could work out though! He's very laid back, as long as everyone (including himself) is happy, he's willing. In the bedroom, whilst being experimental, overall loves to take things slow, have it be a tender and special moment, loves the buildup as much as the moment so to speak. Absolutely would shower the other in physical affection before the act, wants to know that he thinks every part of his partner is beautiful. Neither dom or sub, top or bottom, he's flexible (literally and figuratively) with whatever the moment asks.

Ship Thingy - Saeed & Tansui (going for something a little less obvious)

Oh MAN it's been a long time since I played through Stormblood, so I had to refresh myself on some of the story that involved Tansui! Love how you've given me a minor NPC!

... I could see something here.

Saeed honestly respects the balls on this man for squaring up against imperials and demanding the Ruby Tithe be paid regardless of who they were. He's a man who knows that in some cases, words are better than violence, but still isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when the situation calls on it.

Both of them have things in common, like coming from misfortunate beginnings, having to undertake shadier lifestyles to get by whilst still having heart to care for those around them. They both actually undertook the task of caring for and looking after orphans and lost waifs that came their way. Something to bond over!

In terms of attraction... It's a yes. Saeed admittadly likes men with long hair (like himself ahaha), and the little bit of scruff on Tansui's face certainly suits him.

Also, since Saeed is super tall... Height difference!

I could see them having a very no PDA thing going on (Tansui strikes me as someone that keeps up professional airs when out and about), but in private quarters it's certainly simple yet tender gestures. Little things that other's would take for granted, personal acts of service and whatnot! Saeed is more show-y in terms of affection, but he's willing to reign it in if a partner prefers something more subtle.

Picked up on the way between his adventures, the rugged rogue took sympathy on these wayward twins, taking them under his care and they've been a family since.

Both of them are skilled in both the arcane and combat to his honest surprise, though the former is something Saeed himself isn't... Exactly competent in. Luckily he can go to the rest of the Scions for help in that regard!

They pretty much follow him everywhere, even when he's stubborn in his request for them to keep well away out of trouble or harms way during his Warrior of Light duties.

As always, huge credit to my D&D DM who dropped them on Saeed back in our first campaign as important surprise NPCs for him! Love them to pieces!
