🔥🔥 Hot Take Alert 🔥🔥
Not sure if this has been said. Also I may be thinking about this show too much. This is also a bit of a rant.
In 1x08 when Ava declares that she is going to be the last Warrior Nun, that's her first form of self sacrifice. Whether or not she consciously meant it, she is offering her life in service to the OCS. In doing so she is protecting the others in line behind her. We see that when she asks who is next. Also in the soft way she says "you" when looking at Bea.
Lilith has already sacrificed for the cause. Bea on the other hand, she's been sacrificing parts of herself even before the OCS. Beatrice has sacrificed her needs and her happiness for others for years. I think that was made evident to Ava in their earlier conversation. I don't think Ava wants Beatrice to have to sacrifice anything else. Let alone another Warrior Nun giving their life for the mission.
Flash forward to s2 and, I'm wondering if maybe Reya convinced Ava that once Adriel was gone that there would be no need for the Warrior Nun.
I'm showing my Avatrice bias with this but, maybe that's why Ava finally offers the Halo to Beatrice. For protection. Not from Terasks or Demons but, from any other things she may face. Including but not limited to, hangovers, a scraped knee, broken ankle, etc.
We know that Ava has to have at least considered that if the Halo is removed, she will die. The Halo offered her a second chance at life. It makes sense that she would believe it would do the same for Beatrice. Also Ava doesn't ask Beatrice to be the new Warrior Nun in that moment, just to take the Halo.
On top of that, this show LOVES a good parallel. Their final scene together is very reminiscent of Shannon's death. However, around Shannon people were arguing about the protocol/process of receiving the Halo. This time around we watch as they discuss giving up the Halo. Not only are the discussions different but, so is the language used to frame the Halo. It's less of a holy relic that bestows great power by rite. In s2 it's more akin to an Iron Man suit. With it comes great power and responsibility (different hero, ik 😆) I'm loosely including Mother Superion's story (see 2x06) as evidence of this. It's not a perfect fit but, I see shades of the same idea.
What I'm saying is that Ava is still sacrificing herself for the Warrior Nuns of the future like s1. This would also explain why Ava is so at peace with the plan after talking to Reya —when she was not at any point beforehand.
tl;dr: General WN overthinking = Ava has been sacrificing herself for others since s1. Avatrice Simp = Ava and Bea have been saving each other since s1. Bea is just less subtle about it.

Can you explain the "bad habit" joke? I don't get it
it’s a play on the word “habit.” a “bad habit” is a negative behavior pattern, in this case Ava fidgeting bc nuns don’t fidget, but a “habit” is also a name for clothing worn by nuns.
