Here is an interesting shot by @longtech.elsewhere , this active region viewed in hydrogen-alpha emission line at 657.28nm has many of the typical chromospheric features plus a very atypical structure extending off the edge of the penumbra toward camera. Technically it is a filament but it's very odd the way it appears to emerge from a sunspot and its shape is reminiscent of wax melting down the side of a candle or lava flowing from an eruption fissure...but these similarities in appearance are entirely coincidental since this filament is partially ionized hydrogen and the shape is created by the magnetic field flux lines as opposed to being a super viscous material being pulled downward by gravity....I've certainly never seen anything quite like it.
