From chapter 11 of @blustersquall‘s amazing fic What Lies Behind the Throne. It was so sweet I just had to draw it, and it might be one of my favorite scenes to date. If you’re not reading it you’re missing out on some fantastic writing.

Kay. That’s drafts of WLBtT chapter 4 uploaded to AO3, ff.net, tumblr, and Deviantart, ready for uploading on Friday. ... ish. Might be earlier as I’m going to have a friend around for most of Friday/Saturday.

UUUUUHM... Need to knuckle down and write chapter 12. I think if I can get over this hump I have with it, I'll stop feeling shitty about the rest of it and maybe begin to plot out the later chapters. . >>

It’s a case of knowing where I want the story to go and things I want to include but not being sure how to get them in and tie them together. HNNNgh. It’s very frustrating.

Your WLBtT is probably my favourite from all the fics that I'm currently following. I have a weakness for Arranged Marriage AUs and I really like the way you cover both Alistair's and Roselyn's POV. I only wish that you'd update more often since you're still establishing the story and I feel like it's going to be a couple of months until we get to the meat of it. Either way, keep up the great work, I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Aw, well, I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I was honestly worried that the two POVs would be a bit much but it’s nice to know some readers like that.

You make a good point about the updating. The reason the chapters are so spaced out is because I don’t want to run out of content and end up leaving followers with nothing to read for months at a time. 

Believe me, I would really like to upload everything I’ve written so far every week, but I worry about my own drive and capabilities to continue writing. It’s why I put so much time between updates, I’m giving myself the time to keep ahead of myself. But I still berate myself that I’m not far enough ahead. I’ve just sent chapter 11 off to one of my betas, and chapter 4 will be up next week. But there’s that little angry voice telling me that I’ll run out of content in a week because I’m not ahead of myself enough. 

That sounds crazy. But… idk, it’s like I beat myself up for not having it all finish yet? Does that make sense? Probably not. x.x;;

They will get (or seem) to get more frequent from chapter 6 on wards, which is when the chapters start getting longer and will be divided into parts. One POV will go up at the start ofn the month, the next POV two weeks later. At least that’s the grand plan.

Maybe I should hurry the shorter chapters out? I don’t know. The logistics of writing a long fic and updating them are weird.

I see some long fics/slow burns that get updated once in a blue moon and they explode. And others that update regularly that explode or get no recognition at all. 

It’s very... odd. .__.

Roselyn’s POV for this chapter is 18 pages and just shy of 12k words...

You know how I joke I can’t write short things? 

In my defence, I think it’s a  GOOD 18 pages and 12k words. If you know what I mean. 

Now I have to write Alistair’s POV.

I'm sorry if you've answered this already (I'm on mobile and it's hard to go through tags) but do you know when part 4 of What Lies Behind The Throne will be posted?

That’s okay! No one has asked so far so now is a good time to explain!

Chapter four will be posted end of August/beginning of September. I’m waiting for some chapter art to go along with it. But i’ll be posting a preview this week or next week.

I should explain, the reason I am spacing these chapters out so far is for two reasons:

1. Because I like to be really far ahead of myself. Like. Even though I’m about halfway through chapter 11 now, in my mind that isn’t far enough ahead and my brain is telling me I will run out of buffers really fast. >.> I don't know WHY my brain does this, but it does.

2. From chapter 6 onwards the chapters will be posted in two parts. One part at the beginning of the month, the second part in the middle. The reason for THIS is because the chapters get REALLY LONG. Like.

Okay. So chapters 1-5 all clock in (just) under 8k words and are between 10-14 pages long.

Chapter six clocks in at almost 15k words and is 26 pages long. And that is probably the SHORTEST of the later chapters. I’m going to be splitting them up for ease of reading. I know sitting down and reading 15k words in one go can be daunting, especially on a website like tumblr or AO3, and for a fanfic. So splitting them into POV parts (Roselyn’s POV and Alistair’ POV) should make the chapters a bit less... daunting to read.

TL;DRChapter four will be out at the end of the month/beginning September.Chapter 6 onwards will be split into two parts and the fic will be updated twice a month. :D

*smooshes cheeks* this chapter is really had to write for some reason. 

It’s like the last chapter before BIG STUFF HAPPENS. And I want to write the BIG STUFF HAPPENS. I'm about halfway through though, so another couple of days and this will be out of my hair and I can move onto the other stuff.
