okay taking it back!!!! i dont think zzs has concrete ideas yet! i think hes just trying to figure out if his zhiji and long lost shidi relapsed and has anything to do with the recent carnage. i think hes trying to pinpoint where on the morality scale wkx stands right now, after everything. which is fair!!!! makes sense!!

i love wkx so much he is so pretentious and absolutely unaware of how weird he comes off as. its adorable. these moments when he tries to give a grandiose impression like some elegant gentleman, refined yet competent, and it just doesnt land as he thought it would be, are so human. hes so cute

The hunt is is only as alluring as the thrill of the chase; that rush of vitalities coursing through his bones as he unleashes himself into the berserk and carnage.

“H-have mercy on me!” One of the little bugs says.

“Spare my life!” Says another.

Wen Kexing crushes them both and revels in the euphoria drinking their blood brings him. He abstains from hunting low-grade prey but needs must when the Devil drives. They taste sour and he balks a little on the swallow, but they serve their purpose. In their memories, he sees every single sin. He knows where they have gone.

Wiping the viscera off on their clothes, he sets off.

The fully fortified house tucked away in a sprawling compound is easy to find. Easier still to conduct a little pest control. Mortals were rather deluded into believing that everything and anything can be solved by pointing and shooting at it. It was rather amusing to see them piss themselves at the sight of his bullet ridden torso pushing those little lead projectiles back out again to clink and clatter onto the floor.

The hunt is drawing to a close now. He smiles as he rips their hands and eyes and tongue out, but he doesn’t feed. A greater, grander taste awaits.

In truth, Wen Kexing thinks this little mid-week nuisance is really his fault. He had been flaunting it up in the city buying up anything and everything he thinks would look good on his Ah Xu; buying properties and shops to put under his beloved’s name, lavishing him with attention and love right in front of greedy, jealous fools who thought him just a foolish wastrel spending his family’s money just like they were.

Just like naughty pets, they needed to be taught a lesson.

When they’re done here, he will find out who put this plan into motion. He doesn’t care if it is the Pope himself. Wen Kexing will have their heads on a silver platter to present to his Ah Xu. Better yet, he would let Ah Xu take his own revenge for any of the slights he experienced here and he would just stand by his side looking pretty.

He delights at the thought.

By the time he gets to the inner sanctum of the house, he hears the dying gurgles of a man choking on his own blood. Pushing through the doors, he has to stifle a bolt of desire at the sight of his beloved twisting a plastic fork through the throat of a man.

“Took you long enough,” Ah Xu scoffs, kicking the body at his feet. “Sorry I didn’t leave you any to play with.”

“It’s fine, my love,” Wen Kexing smiles, walking over to wrap an arm around his waist and kissing the corner of his lips sweetly. Studying his face, he is gratified to find no greater harm than a few bruises and cuts. “What did they want this time?”

“Your bank account details. The idiots were planning on sending pieces of me to you until you gave them up. They really were very unimaginative.”

Wen Kexing laughs, nuzzling his nose to his Ah Xu’s nape, breathing in. The scent of his blood fills his senses and he can almost taste the sweetness in his mouth. This temptation isn’t helped by the way Ah Xu instinctively bares his throat to him, ever the perfect Bond Mate; the marks of his ownership a stark jagged scar against the delicate curve of his skin.

“Later,” Wen Kexing says with a sigh. “I need to call Ah Xiang and Han Ying to clean up this mess. We should probably get to the root of who called the shots on—“

A USB is waved in front of his nose. “Done.”

“My Ah Xu is certainly the best,” He smiles, kissing his beloved again. “Come, let’s go home. I want to see the look on their faces when you kill them.”

Ah Xu allows himself to be swept into his arms, tucking himself close. “Then we can fuck after?”

“Of course.”

So, since he’s still questioning whether or not his abuser is sincere, I’m assuming his alliance with WKX really fell through and they were not cooperating in that last scene? Now I’m additionally pissed off that we never got to see why, or how Zhao Jing lured him back.

With that said, everything about this exposition is so narratively clumsy and makes no sense from any standpoint. The only things still holding this show together are Zhou Zhishu’s and Wen Kexing’s pretty faces.

I’m trying really hard to be sympathetic to this entire team considering how devoted they were to getting this show to air in spite of everyone and their grandmother sabotaging them in the middle of a pandemic and keeping in mind that the first thirty episodes were so incredibly good, but what the actual hell happened? 

This is just bad on every level.

Also, the the only reason all these people are willing to speak up for him is because Ghost or not, he is still gentry, and his parents are one of them! If it had been any one of the other low-born (and less conventionally presentable, or even female) criminals on the line here, they would be frothing at the mouth, calling for his death. They all agree that Wen Kexing was in the Ghost Valley ‘by mistake’ only because his parents were respectable people.

I am now starting to fear just how much they will butcher the script for Hao Yi Xing 😢 WoH clearly started out with excellent, competent writers and the show was so, so good until their own studio swooped in to sabotage them. I guess that this is a good practice run for me on what to expect when they are done with the delays and the additional butchering of HYX. 

I’m just so sad. There was so much potential here for something truly remarkable and it was unable to land because of pure hubris of people way above the cast and crew who tried so hard and gave it their all.

I expected him to gain superpowers or something and go on a vengeance spree, but no, it was just Sword Immortal coming down and sending everyone home like errant children.

I just remembered, when Zhou Zishu was given the muscle relaxant to smell, he later claimed it didn’t work because his sense of smell was gone. My mind was too busy rolling in the gutter at the time to complain, but just because you can’t smell it, that doesn’t mean it will not work, because you are obviously still breathing it in.

Their relationship is one of my favourite things on this show so I am glad they are not out to kill each other.

This is my least favourite trope of all time, creating drama just for the sake of drama, and it was so poorly executed here, it has completely kicked me out of the story. I find it so hard to care about anything that is happening right now. Also, I am sick of them narrating these unnecessarily twisty and unnecessarily complicated events that happened off screen. My suspension of disbelief has taken a long vacation and is currently sending me selfies from a beach in Maldives 🙄

i forget where i saw it but i saw someone mention cycles of kindness as well as revenge. and its absolutely true lfm repayed the kindness wkx parents gave to her by saving him. and perhaps it was the cruelty of the ghost valley or maybe the thought that while lfm saved him, it was only to a life that was so full of darkness. only thing that kept him vaguely human was gx. another kindness that he carried out despite all the hate in his heart. so probably thats why he was so careless with her life in his plans. 

in ep31 he offers her a safe way out, to avoid the carnage about to envelop the valley. tells her that she could find her way back to the human world, but she refuses the offer. theres nothing the human world can offer, she chooses continued suffering. maybe wkx knew that, and still offered her a way out. idk what his plans are, but i have a feeling that maybe he still woulda offered or mb thats zzs influence. 

digressing, i like to think she stays because qc is a ghost as well. they are both ghosts and not to be apart from her she believes they will suffer together. unrepentantly finding the f/f here ok. none of this is coherent tbh tho
