5 players from Canada's 2018 WJHC team take leave
5 players from Canada's 2018 WJHC team take leave
I shouldn't be surprised. Carter Hart, who the entire damn nation was rallying behind. And "mikey" McLeod, local hero.
this honestly is why I just can't bother caring deeply about any player any more. none of them are clean.

Latvia Makes Waves at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships: A Rising Star on the Global Stage
The World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (WJHC) are in full swing, and amidst the electrifying blend of international competition and burgeoning talent, one nation in particular has captured the attention of the hockey world: Latvia.
Watch Highlight
Having recently secured a permanent spot in the top division of the tournament, the Latvian men's national junior team (MJNT) is riding a wave of momentum, determined to prove their mettle against established powerhouses and etching their own legacy on the global stage.
A Crucible of Excellence:
Since 1977, the WJHC has served as a launchpad for future hockey superstars. From Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid to Auston Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon, countless legends of the sport have graced the ice during their junior reigns.
This year, 10 nations converge on Gothenburg, Sweden, each vying for the coveted gold medal and the chance to inscribe their names in hockey history.
Latvia's Meteoric Rise:
For Latvia, the WJHC holds special significance. It represents not just a competitive arena, but an opportunity to showcase the immense potential of their national hockey program on the world stage.
Having only secured a permanent spot in the top division in 2022, the Latvian MJNT is playing with the unyielding spirit of underdogs eager to prove their belonging amongst the established giants.
Meet the Latvian Mavericks:
Leading the charge is a roster brimming with talented young players, each bringing their unique skillset and unwavering determination to the ice. Here are a few key names to watch:
Rihards Bukarts: The captain and offensive engine, Bukarts is a skilled winger with a sniper's shot and a knack for finding the net. His leadership and scoring prowess have been instrumental in propelling Latvia forward.
Patriks Zabusovs: The agile and acrobatic netminder, Zabusovs has been a brick wall between the pipes, making crucial saves and turning the tide of games in Latvia's favor. His poise and athleticism have earned him widespread acclaim.
Dansbergs Lauks: A two-way defenseman with a booming slapshot, Lauks brings both offensive firepower and defensive stability to the Latvian squad. His versatility and leadership on the back end have been instrumental in solidifying Latvia's defensive structure.
Beyond the Scoresheet:
But the magic of the WJHC transcends the realm of statistics and highlights.
It's about the raw passion, unwavering grit, and unyielding spirit of competition that these young athletes bring to the ice.
Witnessing them battle for national pride, pushing their limits, and showcasing their burgeoning talent is an experience that ignites the hearts of hockey fans worldwide.
For Latvian hockey fans, it's a chance to cheer on their national heroes and witness the emergence of the next generation of stars who will carry the torch for Latvian hockey in the years to come.
A Look Ahead:
The Latvian MJNT's journey at the WJHC is far from over. With every game, they etch their names deeper into the tournament's narrative, proving their resilience and earning the respect of their opponents.
Whether they reach the podium or not, their presence on the world stage signifies a pivotal moment for Latvian hockey.
They have instilled a sense of belief, not just within their team, but across the entire nation, paving the way for a brighter future for the sport in Latvia.

I am, of course, obligated to cheer for Team Canada but man that 2nd goal is unfortunate and a tough break for the Slovak bbs. I've really enjoyed the spirit of these kids with their no quit attitude, keeping it close with a team that's supposed to be dominant.
