Yakolev Yak-3M '7 white' by Alan Wilson Via Flickr: According to the museum's restoration staff, via the WIX forum, this is one of the new build Yak-3M aircraft. In theory, that would make it msn 0470108, as this is missing from the batch of aircraft known to have been built. It is generally reported as a replica. It clearly isn't, given the high level of detail, rivets and all, compared to the other mock-ups. On display at the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Victory Park, Moscow. 11-8-2012

I can’t believe I’m doing theory on Harry Potter in the year of our lord 2021. What is my life.
JK Rowling is still ten layers of cancelled, just to be clear, this isn’t for her. Actually, this may very strongly be about her being a dumbass (it would not be the first time shallow worldbuilding came back to bite her).
Okay, here’s the thing: afaik from the books, etc., Voldy is always treated as a threat to Wizard Britain, specifically. Yeah, his cult of fascist assholes target and harm non-wix for sure, but that is the prime theme of his threat.
(For comparison and context, I live in Texas.)
[Image description: Two images. The first is a shot of the 50 recognized United States, with Texas highlighted in red.
The second is the Area and Dimensions of Texas in miles and in kilometers. Both images courtesy Wikipedia. End ID.]
Here’s Great Britain, by comparison:
[ID:
First, a satellite photo of Great Britain.
Second, a shot of the Area and Area Rank of Great Britain, courtesy Wikipedia again. End ID.]
Even if you want to be generous and assume the “Britain” in the books is the entire United Kingdom, that’s not much bigger.
The books rarely deviate the spotlight from Britain. There’s mentions of something happening in Wales, and the Irish Quidditch team, and McGonnagal is from Scotland (is that canon or assumed?). Aside from Britain...
We have Bulgaria and France mentioned in the tournament and... uh... Europe is sometimes implied to exist? Pretty sure there was a kinda racist magic carpet commentary in book 4 somewhere.
My point is this:
Voldemort is treated as a major threat. And to be fair, he is! He does damage, he encourages fascists and fascist ideals, eugenics, the whole shebang. He fucking sucks, and so does everyone who follows him.
However, he is only ever mentioned really in the context of Britain, and more specifically Wizard Britain with the odd Muggle casualty. Since JK never bothered to introduce any Muggles who weren’t 1) incompetent, 2) assholes, or 3) both, we have a very limited metric for what this means for the non-Wizarding world. However, there seems to be very little overlap - no one mentioning a spate of strange disappearances that cut off ten years before Harry goes to school, barely the odd mention that something weird might be reported on Muggle TV. Also whatever the fuck was going on with Godric’s Hollow, my brain was smoothing over at that point.
I was going to do some stat stuff but it veered, anyways.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, the focus is on Britain. It’s not on Europe as a whole. It’s not on this hemisphere or the whole world or even northwest Europe. We don’t even know for certain it’s about the entire United Kingdom. This might be focused on a landmass less than 1/8th that of the state I live in (see, it’s relevant whoops >_>”).
Part of this may be due to the books not being expected to spread so far, but given the bungle that was the Cursed Child nonsense, I have limited Benefit of the Doubt leftover here.
Like, if Voldy had been adamant about expanding or some kind of commentary was made about how his threat would only grow if left unchecked, I’d be more convinced. But instead I’m just trying to figure out how it occurred to literally nobody except Hermione (I mean, she’s smart but still) that they could just.... leave Britain? Does nobody think about visiting France for a few years? Norway? No one said “hey Krum can I tag along back to Bulgaria since this war shit is starting up again?”? No?
Like, I don’t want to be super rude here but it kinda loses impact when you think about it. Everyone acts like Harry is the One Last Hope For The World, but... he’s a teenager, first of all, and second of all, could no one have rung up Brazil or the US or Indonesia or where-the-fuck-ever and said “hey we have a local fascist cult that might grow into a global fascist cult, can you send a prime Asskicker Squad our way?“?
Like I know there’s a whole patriotism thing (lbr nearly every problem the USA has is an imported British problem left to grow in a slightly different environment, anyways) but it really sounds like everyone except Harry and his several tiers of Competence Squad teens are the only ones getting shit done. I’m just in awe.

It took this recent family meeting for me to truly realize how old Atticus Graves was becoming. Wix live long lives, but that doesn’t mean time passes over us. Hair recedes, the skin wrinkles, but it’s a slower process then No-Majs until we’re over a hundred, even if we have a lot of energy, there is still the fact that we can see a century before we begin to slow down a little, but there is something in my father that seems immune to that notion. Atticus Graves is a powerful warlock, his battle scars riddle his arms in a complex pattern of patriotism and antagonizing behavior. His silver hair is short and thinning but there is still something so strong in his countenance that no reasonable person would cross him.
My father’s accomplishments in the family business of being Auror was enough for me to know that it was not a career path for me. Jack had all of this drive on being the perfect Graves son as a young man that played a part in him becoming an Auror and that fall off a fourth story balcony that ended his career before it even truly started.
Atticus was always disappointed that the direct line of the Graves family career tradition ended with his children. It was why he made all the grandchildren learn how to duel like he did with Jack and I. Atticus has always been pushy, he wanted Alex to sit the Auror exam from the time he was fifteen, he said Alex was one of the best duelists he had ever seen. A natural, a once in a generation talent. I felt bad for the kid, Alex refusing to do so was the first time he ever actually voiced an opinion on his career.

Tech firms have provided financial assistance to their employees, set up hotlines and arranged for travel and housing for those fleeing the escalating conflict. According to interview findings company statements. For weeks, Wix, a global tech company with 900 employees in the country, planned for the worst case scenario.
Several weeks ago, with reports that Russian troops were amassing along the Ukrainian border, Wix asked its employees to relocate to Krakow, Poland, where it has an office. Moreover, it provided hotel accommodations in Antalya, Turkey, as well as chartered flights.
Wix's president and chief operating officer, Nir Zohar, said 45 employees, along with 45 family members, took the Krakow offer. A total of 350 people, including 200 employees and family members, travelled to Antalya. The publicly traded Israeli company, Wix, provides tools for people to build their own websites. Wix employs roughly 6,000 people worldwide.
“The rest preferred to stay in Ukraine for various reasons," Zohar said, “A small number of them wanted to leave on their own to other countries. They are very patriotic and did not want to leave their homes. I don’t think anyone expected a full-blown invasion so quickly.”
Ukraine’s Interior Ministry says more than 1,600 civilians have been injured since the invasion began. More than half a million refugees have fled Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing invasion, the United Nations Refugee Agency reported on Monday.
The conflict has shattered what was previously a thriving tech sector. Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that more than 100 Fortune 500 companies have agreements with vendors in the country, including Amazon and Microsoft. According to the National Bank of Ukraine, Ukraine’s IT industry contributed 8.3% to its total exports in 2020, making it an increasingly important facet of the economy.
Ukraine also has a growing startup scene, with 126 startups having raised venture capital since early 2021, according to Pitchbook. Apple, Uber and Snapchat's parent company, Snap, are among the companies with workforces in Ukraine.
CNN Business has contacted more than a dozen large technology companies in the country. In response to the war, Uber has halted its car service in Ukraine and is offering logistical and financial support to its employees and their immediate families. Lyft said it would provide financial assistance for "emergency preparedness and for those who wish to temporarily relocate, as well as for those who might need more mental health resources."
During the week before the invasion, Ubisoft advised employees to take shelter in a place they consider safe and that it has provided housing in neighboring countries to its employees. Additionally, the company said it offered additional funding to cover costs, such as those related to travel and relocation, in case banking systems were disrupted.
A statement from the company said it has established emergency hotlines should infrastructures become unstable. As Microsoft posted on its blog Monday that it is devoted to the protection of its employees." Apple CEO Tim Cook told them: "We are doing all we can for our teams and will support local humanitarian efforts. I am thinking of the people in harm's way right now and joining all those calling for peace." (Apple did not respond to a request for more information about its efforts in the region.)
The escalation in violence in Russia forced Wix to implement yet another plan it had begun discussing roughly a month ago: moving as many employees, and their families, to western Ukraine, where the company had anticipated safety. Several bus companies were contracted in advance by Wix and some employees took chartered buses from Kyiv or Dnipro, while other drove on their own. When they reached the border, they were met by Wix staff.
Zohar explained, "We had over 30 volunteers from our Lithuania offices drive down to the Polish border to assist with a hot meal, supplies, blankets, diapers, anything they might need and set them up for a night's stay somewhere near the border.”
Zohar said he got confirmation that another bus, carrying 40 people, had crossed the border to Poland shortly before speaking with CNN. The border area still has quite a few people waiting because there are long lines there. "We are really hoping we're able to get out of the dangerous areas of Ukraine at some point."
As the situation changes, so do Wix's plans. Employees were originally supposed to stay in Turkey for two weeks — but that time has already passed. Zohar said they have already extended the trip since they are unable to return.

Super Three Days Later and A Bowl Short
So the Super Bowl. It’s a classic American event. It’s not to be missed. This year’s game was initially very uninteresting to me because I assumed it would be a blowout in the Patriots favor. And who wants to see that again? And then deal with a smug Gisele? The worst. I always root for the team playing the Patriots to beat the Patriots. In the instance of the Super Bowl, I don’t care which NFC team has the honor. I want them to win. I have no vested interested in the Eagles. But I’m elated they won.
Performance wise….Leslie Odom Jr. did a great job. I love me some Pink. I appreciate that her rendition of the national anthem was not overwrought. Her high notes were scratchy but apparently she wasn’t well. Regardless, she did a good job. Justin Timberlake was fine. But I wanted more. The dancing was on point. The singing was just more yelling “MINNEAPOLIS!” than actually singing the lyrics of the mélange of songs. The Prince hologram was fine. I get it. Prince lived in Minnesota. It was a good show. Not a great show.
Now for the ads. I’m nonplussed across the board less a couple. I stopped taking notes and missed a few but got most of them. Don’t bite my head off if you liked something that I don’t. It’s a free country, bitches. And the State of the Union had higher ratings than the Super Bowl. I’m not sure if he said or Tweeted that but it sounds plausibly possible given the daily nonsense he spins as facts.
Toyota Para Olympics: This was a nice spot. Beyond being an Olympic sponsor, I don’t see what it has to do with Toyota. So from a brand standpoint it could have been anything.
Sprint Robots: Terrible. They spent a shit mess of money making that spot. And it was not money well spent.
Solo: Be there. Memorial Day. I plotzed myself watching this trailer. Donald Glover as Lando? Yes, please.
Turkish Airlines with Dr. Oz: It’s assuming a lot that people know that Dr. Oz is Turkish, isn’t it? But I would fly the shit out of Turkish Airlines. That looked legit.
Rise on NBC: We’ve seen the pilot and are over-the-top excited about this show. Rosie Perez? Yes, please.
Bud Light Dilly Dilly #1: I’m nearing the edge of being over this campaign. It’s humor is fleeting. But I’ve enjoyed it for the most part. I would have preferred to see something entirely different for the Super Bowl but I give them credit for telling a story over multiple spots.
M&Ms with Danny DeVito: I get it. Danny DeVito is as small as an M&M. But the thought of ingesting Danny DeVito is pretty gross. Just ask Rhea Perlman.
Dodge RAM with Vikings: I sort of get it. I sort of don’t. I think the message was if a Viking were to drive a truck as opposed to a boat it would be a Dodge RAM. But what I liked is the secondary call to action around “Watch the Full Story” on YouTube or RAM.com or whatever. Extending content to other platforms is huge. And it was a big trend on the Super Bowl.
Wendy’s Frozen Arches: It’s bold. Calling out your top competitor and iconic market leader. Trying to create a differentiator in the minds of consumers. You can’t just show a Frosty for a buck and expect social chatter.
Castle Rock streaming on Hulu: I’m intrigued. It’s also fascinating that EVERY streaming service ran a spot on the Super Bowl.
Skechers with Howie Long: God, this spot was awful.
Heroes Arena: I don’t get gaming.
Doritos with Peter Dinklage: It was clever but it could have been for anything. What does Peter Dinklage lip syncing to Busta Rhymes/Christ Brown have to do with chips?
Mountain Dew Ice with Morgan Freeman: Same comment as above. Except that my understanding is that this is some sort of campaign? Color me confused. But hearing Missy Elliott is never a bad thing. And the fact that Morgan Freeman agreed to do this seems like a big deal.
Tide No Stains with David Harbour: Now THIS is clever advertising. P&G blew it out with this one by turning their functional benefit on its head and making you think about the product differently because for most of the spot you weren’t thinking Tide. A++++++++++++++
Bud Light Knight: I’m officially over it.
ETrade 85 and I Wanna Go Home: Startling statistics about retirement preparedness presented in an interesting but not scary way. Totally awesome and insight based.
Skyscraper with Dwayne Johnson: This movie looks like summertime fun but what I loved was the tag in the ad about seeing Dwayne Johnson live on The Tonight Show after the game. Extend your content. Drive deeper engagement. Smart, smart, smart.
Mission Impossible Fallout: Fallout is right. I fell out when I saw a 79 year old Tom Cruise trying to do yet another Mission Impossible action movie. Not today, Satan.
Quicken Loans: I very much liked this spot. Good use of humor around a pretty non-humorous but stressful thing. Getting a mortgage.
Avocados from Mexico: I just loved this. Dystopian humor is hilarious. THE CHIPS ARE OUTSIDE THE DOME. But wait…there are a million other ways to use avocados. Nice, nice spot.
Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix: I don’t care.
Diet Coke with the Hipster: I know this one was polarizing. I liked it very much. It was funky without being inaccessible. It was cool and hip without alienating any one group. Coca-Cola is a marketing organization that I very much like.
Jeep The Road Ends: I 100% loved this. Perfect for what Jeep’s brand essence is. In reality, how many people do major off-roading with their Jeep but whatever? A+++++
Tide with Old Spice: SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING PERFECT.
WeatherTech: Cheap, cheap, cheap. Hated it.
Pringles: Sort of fun. Sort of been there done that.
Febreeze Bleep Don’t Stink: Another favorite. This is a great way to use humor that could be extended into other channels and not wear out. The joke will ultimately get old but there’s so much they can do with this. A++++++++++++
Michelob Ultra with Chris Pratt: Yep, that’s realistic. A PA casting extras wouldn’t know Chris Pratt. Blech.
Squarespace with Keanu Reeves: Nope. You wanna know who’s no longer relevant? Keanu Reeves.
Dodge RAM Built to Serve: Decent use of emotion without getting too far into melodrama.
Australia Travel: I thought this was great and renews my heavy desire to visit Australia.
TurboTax Monster Under the Bed: Meh.
Yellow Tail: Absolutely horrendous.
Amazon Prime: Good not great.
Toyota Priest Rabbi: Toyota needs to figure itself out. Their spots were so disparate during the Super Bowl. Stand for something, dammit. Don’t try to stand for everything. Do you want to tug on my heartstrings about the Para Olympics or do you want to tell jokes? It’s too much.
Pepsi: It felt like they sponsored the halftime show. Or am I mistaken?
Jack Ryan on Amazon Video: No thanks.
The Voice Promo: I want to watch this promo every day until the end of time. It was kind of perfect.
Lexus Black Panther: Here’s what I know. We are going to see the SHIT out of Black Panther. What that has to do with Lexus is unclear.
Tide Clydesdales: OMG LOL ROTFL.
Budweiser Water: I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth. Because Toyota and Budweiser have done something similar. But Budweiser made it work because it’s natural for them to have water because they need it to make beer. So their altruism feels sincere without stretching.
Intuit Turbo Tax: Terrible.
Jeep Jurassic Park: Decent.
Kia with Steven Tyler: Nope.
Blacture: Be Celebrated. Not Tolerated. Powerful words. It’s not clear what Blacture is but I will admit to being intrigued.
Wix: Terrifically terrible.
Michelob Ultra We Get Beer: Do you? Do you really?
Groupon: Not memorable.
Alexa New Voices: I liked it but the joke wasn’t funny by the time the spot was done. That’s not great.
Coke Different for Everyone: I approve.
Hyundai Hope Comes Standard: So heavy handed.
T-Mobile with Kerry Washington: Had this spot been for Pampers, I would have loved it. For a cell phone carrier it don’t make a drop of damn sense.
Stella Clean Water: Apparently ALLLLLLL of our beer manufacturers are bringing water to those in need. I didn’t see that theme coming.
Jeep Manifesto: They missed on this one. I liked the first two. But this just made me roll my eyes.
Tide Pharma: This brought me incredible joy as it pokes fun at my life’s work. Which is hilarious to me.
Tide for the win. David Harbour is a national treasure. Gisele is the WORST. And Nick Foles is going to Disney World.

Best 2017 Super Bowl Commercials, Ranked!
brightcove
Another Super Bowl in the books!
While for many, Super Bowl LI was all about witnessing the clash between the high-powered Atlanta Falcons offense, and the impeccably disciplined New England Patriots.... the rest of us really just showed up for what happens between the downs.
EXCLUSIVE: Miranda Kerr Talks Wedding Plans, Lady Gaga's Halftime Show & Orlando Bloom Ahead of Super Bowl Ad
Here are the 17 best commercials that went big for the big game.
1. Audi, "#DriveProgress"
It was hard to give a tearjerker the top spot, but this one just hit our hearts in exactly the right way. Images of a boxcar-racing daughter paired with voiceover messages of gender equality cruises definitely made us feel the hardest.
2. Buick, Starring Cam Newton and Miranda Kerr
"The Super Bowl and the Super Bowl ads are such a big part of American culture," Miranda Kerr told ET of appearing in this spot with NFL star Cam Newton, explaining that she signed on because the ad sounded "cute and fun."
And we agree! Cute and fun is the perfect way to describe this ad, which is really what a good Super Bowl commercial is all about.
3. T-Mobile, Starring Justin Bieber and Terrell Owens
Justin wanted a Super Bowl commercial, and he got one! Plus, any ad campaign that draws the "Purpose" singer back to Instagram is top five in our books.
WATCH: Lady Gaga Preps for Super Bowl Halftime Show by Doing Cartwheels in Endzone With Mom
4. Tide, "Gronk's Cleaners Discount" Starring Jeffrey Tambor and Rob Gronkowski
Gronk cutting the sleeves off your dry cleaning is a pretty simple idea, but the way Jeffrey Tambor sells the reality of the scene really pushes it over the edge in terms of awkward enjoyability.
5. Ford, "Go Further"
This is a feel-good ad. If you animated it and changed nothing else, it could easily serve as the opening short to a Pixar movie, and we should make sure there's always a place in football for that.
6. Skittles
Another simple idea, this spot doesn't go for more than it needs to, and really does make us crave this sugary treat, which is what advertising is all about.
WATCH: Justin Bieber Stars in New Super Bowl Ad, Shows Off Dance Moves With Rob Gronkowski, Terrell Owens!
7. Mr. Clean, "Cleaner of Your Dreams"
Still trying to wrap our heads around the idea of Mr. Clean as a sex symbol, but giving him an earring is a big swing, and we're all about it.
8. Snickers, Live Commercial Starring Adam Driver
A live Super Bowl commercial is a feat in its own right, on top of the fact that Adam Driver can do no wrong. We've really got to reward Snickers for its continued success in the big game.
NEWS: Tom Brady Makes Anything Look 'Epic' in First Super Bowl Ad
9. Wix, Starring Gal Gadot and Jason Statham
A mini-action movie featuring Wonder Woman and frequent badass Jason Statham kicking major butt was a welcome reprieve from the NFC and AFC champions battling it out.
10. Kia Nero, "Hero's Journey" Starring Melissa McCarthy
This would honestly be higher, were it not for the fact that bad things happening to the amazing Melissa McCarthy is something that makes us kinda sad.
11. Budweiser, "Born the Hard Way"
Budweiser's no stranger to the Super Bowl ad game, and this year, they had probably their most interesting take to date. There were no cute puppies (sadly), and the Clydesdales only have a brief cameo, but the immigrant Budweiser origin story made for a captivating watch all the same.
12. Lexus LC, "Man and Machine"
It's all just good dancing, and cool, techy fun, and there's no shame in Lexus knowing that's all they needed for their Super Bowl spot.
WATCH: The 6 Hottest Super Bowl Commercials of All Time, Revealed
13. Intel, "Brady Everyday" Starring Tom Brady
At the risk of giving the New England Patriots quarterback a commercial break advantage, the idea of giving menial real-life sweeping play-by-play edits is a fun one to mess around with.
14. Busch, "BUSCHHHHHH"
Yes, it's so very dumb. But sometimes dumb just works, as this spot is clearly looking to join the Budweiser frogs or "Whusaaaaa?" in the upper echelon of pop culture referentiability.
15. Bai, Starring Justin Timberlake and Christopher Walken
Deep down, we always knew Christopher Walken was an *NSYNC fan. The 73-year-old actor joins Justin Timberlake to lend his Walken-esque delivery to the pop group's classic hit, "Bye, Bye Bye."
16. Nintendo Switch
A simple ad that wins us over on the fact that it clearly demonstrates the versatility of Nintendo's new console, and gives us more than a welcome sneak peek of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Blogging the Super Bowl Ads
I’ve done this a few times over the years and figured I’d embark on it again this year. I mean I do enjoy watching the game - GO FALCONS! - but the commercials are a huge part of the experience so here we go...
Actually, let’s start with the pre-game activities...
America the Beautiful - Beautiful indeed! I’m a huge Hamilton fan so seeing the original Schuyler sisters was fantastic. And I thought they did a magnificent job.
The National Anthem - I’m not a country fan at all but Luke Bryan sounded amazing.
Coin Toss - Okay, seeing President and Barbara Bush made me ridiculously emotional. So great seeing them!
FIRST QUARTER
Break One
Google Home - Okay, is this commercial even new? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this one. I like it but kinda disappointed it wasn’t something new.
Michelin - Very sweet ad.
Avocados from Mexico - Yes. This. Also, I now require guacamole. This is definitely the Break One Winner.
Break Two
Mobile Strike - I don’t know about you, but I’m sort of tired of seeing Arnold talking about his game. Also, this doesn’t seem new either.
H & R Block - Look, I use H & R Block, the tools and technology are great, and Jon Hamm is never a bad idea, but overall? Snooze. If I didn’t already use this company nothing about this ad would make me excited about it.
Skittles - HA! Awesome. I now need Skittles. Definitely the Break Two Winner.
Break Three
Busch Beer - Okay, the look on the eagle’s face was the best. Not bad. This is the Break Three Winner but to be fair, it didn’t have a lot of competition.
American Petroleum Institute - What?
GoDaddy - Sigh. I mean yes, the internet is cool. This guy though? He makes me never want to go on the internet again.
End of Quarter Break - No score in the game
LIFEWTR - Loved this one! Art makes life #MoreInspired. Indeed it does. And the music was awesome.
Intel 360 Replay - I want to hug that dog. For so many reasons. I mean I’m not a Tom Brady fan so that dampens the fun of this ad for me but it was a good concept.
#weaccept - I’m honestly not sure what this was an ad for but it was a beautiful sentiment, especially given the climate in our country right now.
World of Tanks - Okay, that was laugh out loud funny, especially given the tiny house craze and the crazy reality shows all over the television. Also, who doesn’t want to drive a tank? This is hands-down the Quarter Break Winner.
Yellow Tail - I’m embarrassed for the kangaroo kingdom. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to pet a kangaroo mind you, but this a didn’t do anything for me. Then again, I don’t drink wine so...
First Quarter Summary and Winner
Break One - Avocados from Mexico
Break Two - Skittles
Break Three - Busch Beer
End of Quarter Break - World of Tanks
First Quarter Winner - I gotta go with World of Tanks. And yes, I’m as surprised as you are.
SECOND QUARTER
Break One
Plates Life Movie - Meh.
Pistachios - I love this series of ads with the elephant. Because you know, elephant.
Buick - “My kid’s Cam Newton.” Yes. That was excellent and is definitely the Break One Winner.
Break Two
Logan Movie - Nicely done using Amazing Grace for this clip. Also, Hugh Jackman. And Wolverine. That’s really all I need. I gotta go with this for the Break Two Winner because hello...Wolverine!
T-MobileONE - Bieber. TO. Yeah, that was pretty good.
Break Three
Honda - Love, love, love this yearbook spot with these famous people and their yearbook photos. Makes me love my Honda just a little bit more.
bai - OMG. YES. Walken reciting NSync lyrics and Timberlake sitting in approval? A thousand times yes. Definite Break Three Winner.
Transformers: The Last Knight Movie - Yawn.
Break Four
Tide - HA! Awesome. #BradshawStain. Break Four Winner for sure.
Sprint - I’m still entertained by the Verizon guy now being the Sprint guy but this commercial was meh.
24 Legacy TV Show - Not my thing.
Break Five
Coca-Cola - I don’t think this ad’s new either but it’s nice. And makes me wish I still drank Coke. I’ll choose this as the Break Five Winner because the others were just meh overall.
The Handmaid’s Tale TV Show - No thanks.
WeatherTech - Clever.
Febreze - Halftime bathroom break. A little gross and a little funny but not my favorite.
Break Six
Alfa Romeo - Wow, honestly didn’t even know they were still making cars. I love the concept and kinda want one of those cars. This is the the Break Six Winner for me.
Michelob Ultra - Yes, because everyone who just finished working out wants beer. I’ve never understood that but there’s an ad like this every year. Maybe I’d get it if I actually drank...
Break Seven
TurboTax - HA! Poor Humpty Dumpty. Who knew he was British? And sassy! Love. This is definitely the Break Seven Winner.
Lexus - Beautiful cars and love the comparison to dance.
The Fate of the Furious Movie - That looks crazy!
Break Eight
Squarespace - John Malkovich is always the best. I gotta pick this as the Break Eight Winner because come on...John Malkovich!
Wendy’s - Okay, that was pretty funny.
24 Legacy TV Show - Still not excited about it. To be fair though, I never watched the original show. I know a ton of people are excited about this.
End of Quarter/Half Break - Falcons 21 - Patriots 3 (Happy!)
APB TV Show - Could be interesting but I think I’ll skip it.
Xfinity X1 - Okay.
Toyota - Kinda cute. I do love daisies. I’m picking this as the First Half Break Winner.
Tiffany & Co - Well, I sort of love Lady Gaga a little more now because she’s all about the Tiffany.
Second Quarter Summary and Winner
Break One - Buick
Break Two - Logan Movie
Break Three - bai
Break Four - Tide
Break Five - Coca-Cola
Break Six - Alfa Romeo
Break Seven - TurboTax
Break Eight - Squarespace
End of Quarter/Half Break - Toyota
Second Quarter Winner - It’s a touch choice between Walken/Timberlake and Humpty Dumpty but I gotta go with TurboTax.
First Half Summary and Winner
First Quarter - World of Tanks
Second Quarter - TurboTax
First Half Winner - I’m sticking with World of Tanks because nothing has made me laugh like that since it was on and nothing else has moved me in any other way.
HALFTIME
84 Lumber - I’m super-intrigued by this ad...it was beautiful.
Empire TV Show - I mean, you just don’t mess with Cookie. So ready for this show to come back!
Legion TV Show - I don’t think so...
Lady Gaga - Okay, I’m seriously crying in the first 20 seconds. Y’all know how patriotic I am and this opening is the best. Gaga sounds amazing. I’ve never been a fan of watching her perform but have always liked her music because the woman can flat out sing, and she’s showing ever bit of her vocal prowess tonight. And the production is WOW! I actually may need to see her live the next time her show comes around. Her message has always been right on the money and I love that she’s put all her hits in this show. And she is legit singing live which not every one does at the halftime events. It’s actually pretty perfect. Gaga Oh La La indeed. That was great!!
Genius TV Show - Okay, that commercial made me want to watch that show.
Feud Movie - Um, no thanks.
CarMax - Nothing exciting about that one. Just a normal ad.
Princess Cruises - Nothing super about that one either. Just a typical ad.
Fitbit - Yeah, it’s a cool gadget, but still, not an interesting ad.
AT&T Internet - Kinda funny.
NFL - Super Bowl Babies for the WIN!
United MileagePlus Explorer Visa Card - Credit card ads are rarely interesting. This one was the same.
Positive Coaching Alliance - Seems like a cool org.
I’m not sure there was a winner for the ads over halftime. There were only a couple that were any kind of interesting. I guess I’d have to go with either the NFL Babies or the 84 Lumber ad...I’m still very intrigued by that one. I’ll throw them both into the end of game discussion and see where I land.
THIRD QUARTER
Break One
Audi - Yes. Perfect. This is my Break One Winner because we all need that message in our lives.
Mr. Clean - Um, wow. I’m not sure that was appropriate for young eyes. Or mine.
Snickers - Okay, that was so confusing for a minute but you can never go wrong with Adam Driver.
Break Two
Budweiser - Oh, that was good. Let’s never forget that our country, and apparently our beer, was built by immigrants. For its overarching message I have to give this ad my Break Two Winner award. But this set of three ads was all good.
T-Mobile - I mean you can’t go wrong with Martha and Snoop. Ever.
Persil - Oh hey, Bill Nye Science Guy! And Charles from Younger.
Break Three
Kia Niro - I love Melissa McCarthy. She is the actual best. Definitely the Break Three Winner.
It’s a 10 Haircare - Well, that’s a product I never heard of. The commercial was well done.
Stranger Things 2 - People keep telling me I should watch this but I just can’t get excited about it.
Break Four
A Cure for Wellness Movie - Um, no.
Evony - No thanks.
The Walking Dead TV Show - I don’t watch it but that ad was good. And it’s the Break Four Winner.
FIJI Water - Nothing interesting here.
Break Five
Baywatch Movie - I know I shouldn’t but I just might have to get involved.
Alfa Romeo - Yeah, I still need to get involved with one of these cars.
T-MobileOne - Another ad that I’m not sure was appropriate for a family event.
Simpsons Daytona 500 - Excellent. This is the Break Five Winner.
Genius TV Show - Yeah, I still need to get involved with that.
End of Quarter Break - Falcons 28 - Patriots 9
NFL - Love. This is the the End of Quarter Break Winner.
Sutter Health - Looks like this was a NorCal only ad and it’s one I’ve seen before.
Xfinity X1 - Repeat of earlier ad.
Jack in the Box - Bacon butter. That’s really all you need to know.
Third Quarter Summary and Winner
Break One - Audi
Break Two - Budweiser
Break Three - Kia Niro
Break Four - The Walking Dead TV Show
Break Five - Simpsons Daytona 500
End of Quarter Break - NFL
Third Quarter Winner - Budweiser
FOURTH QUARTER
Break One
Wix - I’m not even sure what just happened there.
Amazon Echo/Alexa - Three cute ads.
Turkish Airlines - Multiple Morgan Freemans? Yes, please.
King’s Hawaiian Rolls - I want those rolls right now. This one is the Break One Winner. Now, could they just make those gluten-free?
Legion TV Show - That made the show seem a bit more interesting but I’m still not sure.
Break Two
Bud Light - I’d sort of forgotten the Spuds McKenzie dog died. Thanks for that sad reminder, Bud Light. I guess you’re the Break Two Winner since yours was the only ad. I’m not happy about it.
Break Three
T-MobileOne - This commercial is making me uncomfortable. Not everyone is a fan of 50 Shades...just saying.
Nintendo Switch - Okay, that’s actually pretty cool. I’m picking this as the Break Three Winner because it was the best of the three.
24 Legacy TV Show - I think I’ll be happy when this show starts so I can stop seeing the ads.
Break Four
Mercedes - That was awesome and perfect and the Break Four Winner.
Daytona 500 - I gotta give it to Daytona...they made some great ads to promote this year’s race. Also, Dawson.
24 Legacy TV Show - Oh good. Another ad for this show I don’t care about. I hope y’all that are interested enjoy it.
Legion TV Show - Yeah, still not interested.
Break Five
Alfa Romeo - Maybe I could just test drive one? I mean they’re beautiful and fast and Italian. What could be bad?
Sprite - I’ve seen this LeBron ad and it annoys me every time. So, no thanks.
KFC Georgia Gold - Sorry, but these creepy Colonel guys freak me out.
Tide - Funny. I think they are the Break Five Winner.
Samsung Gear VR - It’s cool I guess. The ad was good.
APB TV Show - Not interested.
End of Quarter Break - TIE GAME
The Handmaid’s Tale TV Show - Still not interested in this.
Sprint - Repeat of earlier ad. Still pretty meh.
Proactiv - Not a new ad, but kind of funny anyway. I’ll give this the End of Quarter Break Win.
SoFi - Always good to have help with loans. Decent ad.
Fourth Quarter Summary and Winner
Break One - King’s Hawaiian Rolls
Break Two - Bud Light
Break Three - Nintendo Switch
Break Four - Mercedes
Break Five - Tide
End of Quarter/Half Break - Proactive
Fourth Quarter Winner - I’m going with Mercedes.
Second Half Summary and Winner
Third Quarter - Budweiser
Fourth Quarter - Mercedes
Second Half Winner - Budweiser. No question.
OVERTIME - Patriots win and I can’t even.
Game Summary and Winner
First Half - World of Tanks
Second Half - Budweiser
The Big Winner - Definitely a tie because World of Tanks was the most hilarious but Budweiser was the most poignant.
And I’m done. Seriously, how did Atlanta let that happen?! Never mind. When’s the next Sharks game?
