Given Boys Daily Chat About "Daikan 大寒" (the great cold or the coldest time of the year)

The newest chat from @given_anime on Twitter. If I remember it right, it's the first chat of all the boys in the beginning of 2020, isn't it?

To understand the boys' chat here I think I have to explain about some of the type of letters that the Japanese use when they write. As I mentioned before, Given chats are always funny if you can understand the foreign aspects used in the chats. On this case, the types of the Japanese letters.

The Japanese use three types of letters: "hiragana", "katakana", and "kanji". The "hiragana" is used to write every word that is originally Japanese. The "katakana" is used to write foreign words that aren't Japanese at all, Japanese words that originated from foreign words, animals (some cases), and foreign names. The "kanji" is characters of letters originated from Chinese that each character already represents a meaning without needing it to be in a sentence (while "hiragana" and "katakana" have to be applied in a sentence first to give it a clear meaning). The "kanji" characters have more than one way to read depending on the words they're forming and the context of the sentence they're in.

The boys are talking about 大寒 (read: daikan [dah-ee-ka:n] I'm not being consistent with the phonetic symbols, but I'm sure you get it 😁), and I think that I have to keep the kanji characters as it is in the chat instead of changing it into the English translation in hopes that you can catch the humor in it.

Lastly, neither Japanese nor English is my first language, and I don't live in a country that has winter season. Therefore, I don't understand what and how a "great cold" is and whether Western countries (other countries with four seasons) have the great cold too (maybe they do?). According to the internet the "daikan" starts from January 20 until February 3. With my lack of knowledge about these countries' seasons, I apologise if I didn't deliver the translation correctly.

Remember. 大寒 is read "dah-ee-ka:n" 🙂

Akihiko: isn't it cold today? Even though the 大寒 has passed. (The word "passed" Akihiko is using is written "sugita" [su:-gi:-ta:] in Japanese, but it can also mean "really or very" in past context)

Ritsuka: isn't that because you're living in a basement?

Haruki: if you don't take care of yourself you'll catch a co~ld. (I'm imagining Haruki sing-songing this line. He's fuckin cute!)

Mafuyu: Kaji san, do you feel really cold? (Mafuyu thought that the word "sugita" meant "really or very")

Akihiko: it's not that I feel really cold. I can still deal with this temperature.

Akihiko: but it is cold, though.

Mafuyu: ?

Akihiko: hm?

Haruki: Ah, I get it. Mafuyu, do you know how to read "大寒"?

Mafuyu: "oosamu". (read: oh-sah-moo)

Akihiko: that seems really cold.

Haruki: it's "daikan".

Haruki: it's the day of the year when it is the coldest.

Mafuyu: I see.

Ritsuka: is that so?

Haruki: did you read it "oosamu" too, Ue?

Ritsuka: no. I read it "daisamu". (read: dah-ee-sah-moo)

Mafuyu, Ritsuka.. Please pay more attention when you are in class! 😑

Mafuyu guessed that the word is read "oosamu" which can sound like an expression to a very cold temperature, "oosamui!" or "how cold it is!" or "it's freaking cold!"

Ritsuka wrote the word "daisamu" using katakana which gives an impression of a foreign name "Dytham" 😀

So, just because I was rereading HaaH and a bit curious, you described Keith’s communication with Red as being mostly through visuals and scents (which was super fucking cool and a very interesting detail, btw) but I was wondering—how do the other Paladins communicate with their lions? (if it’s not spoilers, ofc) Hope you’re having a nice summer! ❤️❤️❤️

Keith

The story mentions that Keith speaks to Red via a combination of visuals and scents, but I can say a little more about it here too before I go on to the others–the Lions tailor their communication specifically to match the paladin they are bonded with. If Red had a different partner, he would “speak” differently to that person. Red and Keith communicate through sight and scent because these are Keith’s strongest senses and the ones to which he has his most visceral reactions. Most importantly though, Red doesn’t just choose images and scents at random; Red’s consciousness is directly tied to Keith’s consciousness. Therefore, when Red wants to convey a concept to Keith, he can choose to reach directly into Keith’s mind and pick the exact sights and smells that Keith associates with that concept. (If Red wanted to convey the idea of “rage,” for example, he might flash Keith’s memory of fighting with Commander Iverson after the failure of the Kerberos mission.)

It should be noted, however, that Red is also a very stubborn, not-remotely-domesticated lion, and so sometimes he’ll use his own associations for concepts instead of Keith’s. This has led to a sort of half-”human”-half-(alien) animal visual/scent language where something like the concept of “humor” sometimes gets communicated as “that one time Matt Holt got stuck in a locker” and other times gets communicated as “that one time I toyed with a tiny enemy until it died.”

By the way, Red and Keith’s method of communication would be completely and utterly incomprehensible to anyone else who tried to experience it. Like… Willy Wonka terror tunnel levels of incomprehensible.

Pidge

Pidge and Green communicate in an extremely complex way: they “share” data like a cloud database, but the information they send back and forth to each other is a constant scrolling feed of a thousand different encryption codes and languages, from basic ciphers all the way up to DNA encoding values. When Pidge and Green link up, it’s the equivalent of Pidge’s brain being hardwired directly into the internet, if the internet was… you know… an ageless, all-knowing fragment of the universe and all combined matter self-actualized into a single physical form at one moment in space-time. It’s extremely mentally demanding, and no one without an absolutely astronomical IQ and encyclopedic knowledge of data encoding and reading could ever hope to understand even a sliver of it. Even Pidge has really only scratched the surface of the amount of information Green is able to convey; there are limits to how much the human brain can comprehend and process, and Green respects that–she has to, or Pidge would experience an aneurysm from an extreme over-activation of brain tissue and die within seconds of exposure to Green’s “full voice.”

Pidge and Green are the only paladin/lion pair whose method of communication is completely intelligible to someone who is not a paladin–Matt Holt can understand and communicate with Green as easily as Pidge can, because, as siblings, the Holts grew up sharing all the same codes. Likewise, Green is partially intelligible to Hunk, enough so that he can communicate with her if Green chooses to “speak” to him. He’d be able to fully understand Green if he saw a point in studying up on the rest of the specific languages and ciphers Pidge knows, but there’s really no time to bother with that when there’s always so much else going on.

Hunk

Remember that scene in Harry Potter where the sorting hat asks if Harry really doesn’t want to be in Slytherin because he’d be just as great there as in Gyrffindor? That’s what happened with Hunk and Yellow. Although it would have been totally possible for Hunk and Yellow to communicate in a way extremely similar to Pidge and Green (albeit more along the lines of mathematical calculations than DNA encoding), Hunk asked Yellow to pick the form of communication that Yellow himself would feel most comfortable with, and thus Hunk and Yellow do not communicate in words, data, or images–they communicate by a constant sharing of their feelings and intuition. Yellow and Hunk’s bond is deeply physically focused, with the feelings of one impacting the other as directly as if they shared one brain. When Yellow is nervous, Hunk gets goosebumps. When Hunk is resolved, Yellow’s roar can shake stars in the sky. Although Hunk often speaks out loud to his Lion, this is mostly just from habit; Yellow does not take note of Hunk’s words but instead responds to the emotional truths that exist behind those spoken words. Unlike Pidge or Keith, whose methods of “speaking” require at least fractions of a second to translate, Yellow and Hunk’s communications are instantaneous and they never experience even the slightest miscommunication. Everyone quickly learned to trust the things Hunk tells them based on what he feels from Yellow, even if they themselves have never gotten so much as inkling of emotion from the Yellow Lion.

Only one issue has arisen from Hunk and Yellow’s method of communication: there are feelings which the lions experience which humans do not, and even a few feelings humans experience which the lions do not. Once exposed to these feelings, neither one of the pair could “unfeel” them, and thus Hunk is now the only human in the universe capable of feeling certain emotions which are not native to human beings, and Yellow has been saddled with the unbearable knowledge that sometimes ugly things are actually adorable.

Shiro

The Black Lion is very different from the other lions. So different, in fact, that there’s honestly no comparison to even be drawn. Although the other lions are irrevocably still at least somewhat “animalistic” in their behaviors and functions, the Black Lion is a lion in form only, and its mind is nothing like an animal’s. The way the Black Lion and its bond to paladins works is so unique from the other lions that we might as well be talking about a totally different form of relationship. The Black Lion does not communicate with its paladin–the Black Lion IS its paladin.

The other lions are able to touch and operate within the confines of their paladins’ minds when their paladins are near or when they really want to “speak.” But Black just exists within Shiro at all times–Black has tied itself to Shiro’s life force, to his physical form, to every cell and even atom of his being. Shiro is the Black Lion’s vessel, and yet there is no separation between their identities–they are not two souls sharing one body, but an interwoven existence that is simultaneously both human and something utterly unknowable.

All the lions are “magical” creatures, as much metaphysical beings as they are robotic monsters, but Black is something else entirely. Shiro can’t explain it. Allura can’t explain it. Coran can’t explain it. Even during the process of their creation, neither Alfor nor any of the people who worked on the forging of the lions could explain it. Black is the breath of the cosmos. A manifestation of life itself. The first spark. The invisible, immeasurable dark matter that permeates the unending universe and allows all things to be. All knowledge. All energy.

Black and Shiro do not “communicate” because they do not need to. When the Black Lion wishes Shiro to know something, Shiro simply knows it. Things that human beings should not be capable of doing, the Black Paladin can do.

As long as the Black Lion wills it, for as long as it deigns to lend power to the physical realm, Shiro and Black move as one, united in thought, purpose, and deed–seeing with the same eyes, feeling with the same heart.

Lance

Although it might sound like Shiro has the closest relationship with his lion–inextricably soul-bound and all–this is actually inaccurate. Shiro and Black’s bond is essentially one-sided, initiated by Black to suit the lion’s purpose, with an equally frustrated and humbled Shiro doing his best to reach out to the inexplicable entity, to limited success. They share an existence but not, necessarily, a “relationship.”

The paladin who actually has the closest bond with his lion is Lance, although Lance himself is completely unaware of this. Because communication between the lions and their paladins is so unique, Lance has never recognized that what he can do with Blue (the degree of fluidity that exists in their communication) is not standard and is, in fact, the closest a lion and paladin have ever managed to personally connect before.

Lance and Blue simply love each other. They aren’t just allies, they aren’t just knight and weapon, they aren’t just guardian and charge–before any and all of that, they’re genuinely friends. Lance cares for Blue as if she were another person on their team, a person just like any other, with normal thoughts, feelings, wants, and wishes. He listens to Blue’s boasts and fears, her anecdotes, her memories, and shares his own in turn. Sometimes he has to work twice as hard with his products to hide the dark circles under his eyes because he stays up all night holding nigh-endless conversations with his lion. Although all the lions can sense their paladins across entire galaxies, Lance is the only one who can speak to his lion from any distance; there is no limit that Blue has found. Through Lance, Blue has come to understand the lives of mortal beings in a way that none of the other regular lions seem to–she is the only one that fully grasps and values the individuality of humans. Lance taught her what names mean. What family is. Destiny is a strange concept, constantly under suspicion, but it was nothing short of destiny that determined Lance and Blue should meet. Aka if you say a word about the lion swap to me I will stomp you to death with my hooves.

All of this was mostly possible because, being the first of the humans to meet his lion, Lance had zero preconceptions about what his relationship with a giant sentient catship should look like. It simply never occurred to him that the Blue Lion might not be able to talk. He expected his lion to speak to him, and so she did. Her voice sounds exactly like what Lance thinks a talking lion should sound like. (There is a lot of purring involved, because Lance was not made aware, until much later, that normal lions cannot, in fact, purr.) She reminds him, somewhat painfully, of his mom.

Blue’s voice cannot be understood by any of the other paladins, however, because she does not want it to be. If anyone else were to listen in on Lance and Blue’s mental conversations, Blue’s voice sounds simply like droplets of water, like rain on the surface of a previously smooth pond.

On one–and only one–previous occasion, the Blue Lion chose to speak to Keith. His feelings about that day, and the long, lonely months that came after it, are a bitter mix of resentment and painful gratitude.

Unable to find a church in which the Lord was present, I felt very disappointed and prayed to the Lord, “O Lord! How has the church become like this? Now I can’t feel Your presence. Where can I go to find a church that has the provision of the water of life? I ask You to lead me.”

Once when I went back to my original church to visit my brothers and sisters, I was surprised to find that most of the seats there stood empty, which made such a big church look like a barren wasteland. It turned out that many things happened after I left the church: The pastor had nothing to preach, so he stole the recordings of sermons by foreign pastors and then was exposed and expelled from the church. After that, the church was divided and slid into chaos where everyone slandered and fought against each other. Seeing this situation of the church, I again chose to leave and continued with my search.

At one gathering I came across Sister Wu from my original church, who, after finding out that I was still looking for a church, enthusiastically invited me to the church that the pastor had newly established. The church then became a place for wedding ceremonies and funerals and was completely secularized, losing the guidance and blessings of the Lord. Seeing this plunged me into utter despair.

Looking back to the past few years, every time I went to a church, full of hope, I would always leave there feeling discouraged. The pastors had nothing to preach and the believers grew cold in their faith. They all loved personal desires, not the truth, and were fighting against one another. I myself had no enlightenment or illumination from reading the Bible, and couldn’t feel the sensation of being together with the Lord when praying, and I felt really lost without a direction. I couldn’t help but think of Revelation 7:16–17: “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the middle of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them to living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” But where is the living wellspring flowing from the throne? I wondered. Why couldn’t I find it?

Later, I continued to search for a church that had the work of the Holy Spirit on the Internet, and I thanked God for caring for me.

Shortly before Christmas in 2017, I met Brother Lin from France and Brother Chen from Italy on Facebook. After a period of contact with them, I felt both of them were devout Christians, and we then often had gatherings and studied the Bible together on the Internet. Once when we were sharing our own experiences of faith, I told them about how I felt withered and dark in my spirit and couldn’t feel the Lord’s presence these years, how the pastors sermonized about nothing but stale truisms, unable to supply us with life, and how the churches I’d visited were all pretty much the same, without the guidance of the Lord.

Brother Lin said, “We are now in the last days. The desolation is not just occurring in one church. Instead, the entire religious world is now desolate. Pastors and elders have nothing to preach while believers are negative and weak in general. It is prophesied in the Book of Revelation: ‘I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were cold or hot. So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth’ (Revelation 3:15–16). Isn’t the desolate situation of the churches now just like the church of the Laodiceans? If we remain in such a church, the outcome would be very dangerous.”

Brother Chen went on fellowshiping, “The Bible also prophesies: ‘Behold, the days come, said the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Jehovah’ (Amos 8:11). From this we can see that a crucial reason for the desolation of the church is that people no longer follow the way of God or listen to His words. It’s just like the later stages of the Age of Law—the temple that had once been full of God’s glory became a place of commerce, a den of thieves. The main reason for this is that the Jewish leaders no longer followed the laws of Jehovah God. The priests made poor sacrifices to cheat God, they observed man’s teachings while discarded God’s commandments, they devoured widows’ assets and had completely departed from God’s way, thus being detested and rejected by God. Another reason is that the work of the Holy Spirit had moved. As the Lord Jesus carried out a stage of new work outside the temple, the Holy Spirit no longer worked in those who kept the name of Jehovah God and clung obstinately to the laws, but instead turned to uphold the Lord Jesus’ work. At that time, all those who accepted the Lord Jesus’ work of redemption enjoyed the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit’s work, had a new path of practice, and received the sustenance of the living water of life, whereas those Jewish priests, Pharisees and believers who clung to the law and rejected and resisted the Lord Jesus’ work all lost the work of the Holy Spirit and lived in darkness.

“Nowadays, the religious world is desolate and there are more and more iniquities going on in the churches. The primary reason for this is that religious leaders, pastors and elders do not follow the Lord’s way or preach the Lord’s words. They don’t at all exalt the Lord in their work and preaching, but instead only preach about biblical knowledge and spiritual theories, and they also engage in jealous disputes and struggle over position. Many pastors and elders even follow worldly trends, seek fashion, and lust for money; they promote various kinds of products in the churches and lead the believers down the secular road, with the result that they’ve become just like worldly people. This is why God has abandoned the religious venues and no longer maintains the churches as in the Age of Grace.”

Brother Lin continued, “Sadly, pastors and elders still don’t understand the work of the Holy Spirit. They cling to the religious churches preaching some dry doctrines rather than lead the brothers and sisters to search for a church where the Holy Spirit is at work, which results in the churches growing more and more desolate. Therefore, we must seek a place of ‘rain’ and follow the Lamb’s footsteps, for only then can our parched spirits be sated. Those who fail to follow the footsteps of the Lamb won’t be able to gain the sustenance of the living waters and will die of spiritual thirst and hunger.”

The fellowship of the two brothers enabled me to understand that the desolation in the church was caused by the religious leaders deviating from the Lord’s way and failing to follow the work of the Holy Spirit. When I considered it, I realized it was true. In the several churches I had visited, the pastors and elders preached without a shred of new light, yet they didn’t seek for God’s footsteps but instead led the brothers and sisters to pursue worldly trends and sold all manner of goods in the churches. The believers were all spiritually parched and famished and lacked the provision of the water of life. Faced with the desolation in the church, I thought, it is imperative for me to find a church that has the work of the Holy Spirit, so that I won’t be eliminated by the Lord like the foolish virgins.

Later, Brother Chen sent me a passage of word: “God will accomplish this fact: He will make all people throughout the universe come before Him, and worship the God on earth, and His work in other places will cease, and people will be forced to seek the true way. It will be like Joseph: Everyone came to him for food, and bowed down to him, for he had things to eat. In order to avoid famine people will be forced to seek the true way. The entire religious community is suffering severe famine, and only the God of today is the wellspring of living water, possessed of the ever-flowing wellspring provided for the enjoyment of man, and people will come and depend on Him” (“The Millennial Kingdom Has Arrived”).

Brother Chen then fellowshiped, “In fact, the desolation in the religious world today contains God’s intentions within. Through this, God is forcing those who believe in God with true hearts and who love the truth to leave the religion and search for the footprints of God’s work. The Lord Jesus once prophesied: ‘I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come’ (John 16:12–13). And it says in Revelation 3:13: ‘He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ From these prophecies, we can see that the Lord will return in the last days to express the truth and perform His work to save people. Only by focusing on hearing God’s voice will we be able to welcome the Lord’s return. Sister, let me tell you some good news. The Lord Jesus has actually returned as the incarnate Almighty God. He has expressed millions of words that can have man purified and saved and is performing the work of judgment and purification. The judgment work of Almighty God in the last days just fulfills the prophecy in the Bible: ‘He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day’ (John 12:48). All who hear God’s voice and then accept and obey God’s judgment work in the last days are the wise virgins who are raptured up before God’s throne to attend the wedding feast of the Lamb, and they are able to enjoy the provision of the water of life that flows from the throne and restore their original faith and love. Those who refuse to accept the work of Almighty God, however, are people who fail to keep up with God’s footsteps, and they shall be eliminated and cannot obtain the work of the Holy Spirit.”

After listening to Brother Chen’s fellowship, I suddenly realized: Over these years, the church has been desolate and we have been spiritually parched and famished—it turns out God’s will is for us to seek the true way so that we won’t die of spiritual thirst and hunger in the wilderness where there is no provision of the living water. I truly gained a lot from today’s meeting, through which my longstanding confusion had finally been resolved. I had never expected that I would hear the news of the Lord’s return when the church was at its most desolate. Crying tears of joy, I thought I should hurry to seek and investigate Almighty God’s work of the last days. However, I still didn’t understand the difference between the last days’ work of Almighty God and the work of the Lord Jesus. But as I had something else to do, I arranged a time for our next gathering with the brothers and then got offline.

Several days later, I got online for the gathering with the brothers. In response to my question raised at our last meeting, Brother Chen read a passage of Almighty God’s words for me, “When Jesus came into the world of man, He brought the Age of Grace and ended the Age of Law. During the last days, God once more became flesh, and when He became flesh this time, He ended the Age of Grace and brought the Age of Kingdom. All those who accept the second incarnation of God will be led into the Age of Kingdom, and be able to personally accept the guidance of God. Though Jesus did much work among man, He only completed the redemption of all mankind and became man’s sin offering, and did not rid man of all his corrupt disposition. Fully saving man from the influence of Satan not only required Jesus to take on the sins of man as the sin offering, but also required God to do greater work to completely rid man of his disposition, which has been corrupted by Satan. And so, after man was forgiven his sins, God has returned to flesh to lead man into the new age, and begun the work of chastisement and judgment, and this work has brought man into a higher realm. All those who submit under His dominion shall enjoy higher truth and receive greater blessings. They shall truly live in the light, and shall gain the truth, the way, and the life.”

Brother Chen then fellowshiped, “From God’s words, we can see that in the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus came in the flesh to carry out a stage of work of redemption, providing man with the way of repentance and teaching them to be tolerant and patient, to love their enemies, and to forgive others seventy times seven times and so on. He was also crucified as a sin offering for us mankind, thus redeeming us from sin so that we would no longer be condemned by the law for committing sins. As long as we obeyed the Lord’s teachings, prayed and called on His name, confessed and repented our sins to Him, we would receive His salvation and be absolved of our sins. But what is undeniable is that our sinful natures are still deeply rooted within us that we are always committing sins and resisting God in spite of ourselves, living a painful life of sinning in the day and confessing at night. So people like us are not qualified to enter God’s kingdom, for the Lord Jesus once said, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever’ (John 8:34–35). Therefore, in the last days, God has incarnated once again to perform a stage of work of judgment beginning with the house of God on the foundation of the Lord Jesus’ work to thoroughly purify and save mankind. Almighty God has imparted to us all the truths that we need to be cleansed, saved and perfected, using His words to judge and expose our sinful natures, such as arrogance and self-importance, crookedness and deceit, selfishness and despicableness, and at the same time showing us the path to cast off our corruption and gain purification. Through experiencing God’s judgment and chastisement, we can gradually gain an understanding of our own satanic nature as well as a knowledge of God’s righteous disposition, develop a heart of reverence for God, becoming willing to forsake the flesh and put God’s words into practice. As a result, our corrupt dispositions will change to varying degrees and our lives will continuously make progress. From this we can understand that the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus was to absolve our sins while the judgment work of Almighty God in the last days is to eliminate our sins. If we only accept the Lord Jesus’ work of redemption but don’t accept the utterances of the returned Lord or go through the judgment work of God in the last days, then the sinful nature within us will never be cleansed and we can never obtain salvation and enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

Thanks be to God! My heart was suddenly brightened. It turned out that the Lord Jesus did the work of redemption, which was to absolve our sins, and that the incarnate Almighty God has expressed the truth to do the work of judging and purifying man, which is to cleanse and change us humans who are corrupted by Satan. I was so fortunate to be able to accept the judgment work of the returned Lord and have the opportunity to gain purification.

Later, I came across these words of God, “For there is a time when My glory leaves Canaan, and there is also a time when My glory leaves the chosen. Furthermore, there is a time when My glory leaves the whole earth, causing it to grow dim and plunging it into darkness. Even the land of Canaan shall not see the sunlight; all men will lose their faith, but none can bear to leave the fragrance of the land of Canaan. Only when I pass into the new heaven and earth do I take the other part of My glory and reveal it first in the land of Canaan, causing a glimmer of light to shine forth in the whole earth, sunk in the pitchy darkness of night, to allow the whole earth to come to the light. Let men all over the earth come to draw strength from the power of the light, allowing My glory to increase and appear anew to every nation. Let all humanity realize that I have long ago come to the human world and long ago brought My glory from Israel to the East; for My glory shines from the East, where it was brought over from the Age of Grace to this day. But it was from Israel that I departed and from there that I arrived in the East. Only when the light of the East gradually turns white will the darkness across the earth begin to turn to light, and only then will man discover that I have long ago gone from Israel and am rising anew in the East. Having once descended into Israel and later departed from it, I cannot again be born into Israel, because My work leads all of the universe and, what is more, the lightning flashes straight from East to West. For this reason I have descended in the East and brought Canaan to the people of the East. I wish to bring people from all over the earth to the land of Canaan, and so I continue to issue forth utterances in the land of Canaan to control the entire universe. At this time, there is no light in all the earth apart from Canaan, and all men are imperiled by hunger and cold.” After reading God’s words, I was deeply stirred: All these years, I’ve always felt like I was wandering in the wilderness, trying to find a church that has the work of the Holy Spirit. But every time I went to a church in hope, I would always leave in disappointment. These years, all the denominations have become desolate and only The Church of Almighty God is thriving rapidly. Their movies, videos and other works are constantly being released online, and more and more people are turning back to Almighty God—this is indeed the fruit obtained by the work of the Holy Spirit. Today, God has departed with His glory from the churches of the Age of Grace and has carried out a new work. Almighty God’s kingdom gospel in the last days has spread rapidly from east to west, which is really as the lightning flashes from the East to the West. God’s words possess authority and power, bringing us the work of the new age like a flash of light illuminating the dark sky. Now the work of the Holy Spirit has shifted, so I should immediately keep pace with it and accept the personal watering and shepherding of Christ in the last days.

In the following months, I hungrily devoured the words of Almighty God and watched the movies, sketches, music videos, and all kinds of articles about the testimonies of returning to God, which greatly edified me. Not only that, but Almighty God’s words have opened up all the mysteries in the Scriptures I didn’t understand before. I therefore became completely certain that Almighty God is the returned Lord Jesus.

God’s words say, “The love of God extends forth like the water of a spring, and is given to you, and to me, and to him, and to all those who truly seek the truth and await the appearance of God.” Now I feel enriched every day and have enjoyed being provided with the water of living life that flows from the throne. My spirit is greatly satisfied and I no longer have to search bitterly everywhere. In order to repay God’s love, I am now spreading the gospel with the brothers and sisters, trying our best to lead all of those who thirst for God’s appearance and work before His throne. do you guys do pendulum readings? if not, how do i know if i am kin with a character

we do not do pendulum readings, unfortunately. neither i nor astral know how to do them, and therefore you should probably go to a pendulum reading blog instead of here if a reading is what you really want. the reason i say “what you really want” is because, as outlined below, pendulum readings aren’t always the most reliable.

now, what i would suggest, in lieu of a reading (please note this is based on the assumption that you already have a character in mind and just don’t really know if you’re kin with them or not, because of the way you worded this ask), is to find blogs that, perhaps, are run by people who are also kin with this character. or, if your character is fairly rare, try to figure out exactly why you believe you are kin and see if that matches up with anything you feel with any a. preexisting kintypes (which – forgive me if this is untrue – i’m assuming don’t exist because of the fact you came to us for help) or b. things that other people have said that they feel as ____kin. good luck!

Heeeey it’s me, yours truly! Before I provide you with some links to kin pendulum blogs, here’s a good post I found that is probably a good idea to read in regards to pendulum readings to find your kintype!

“i really think all pendulum kin blogs need to seriously consider what they’re doing. as a basic rule, you cannot tell anyone else what their kintypes are, nor can they tell you what yours are. if someone describes their experiences, you are free to give suggestions or help to them, but you cannot say with any certainty who or what they are ever. this is a very serious personal thing that takes time to understand and figure out, and your pendulum can help nobody but yourself figure this out. pendulums act on subconscious impulses, meaning if you want to learn things about yourself, they’re great, but they’re not great for telling anyone else who they are.

ask yourself: how do you know you’re not just giving random answers to people? how do you know you’re not leading people astray by telling them their kintype is something it isn’t, or telling them their kintype isn’t something when it in fact is?

i know people don’t mean any harm by this but it’s so irresponsible and has the potential to be very dangerous. the reason it’s really frowned upon to tell people what their kintype is is (a) it’s acting like you know someone better than they know themselves and (b) it’s extremely easy to manipulate people in this way (eg. telling someone their kintype is the same as yours, or that you knew each other in a past life in order to manipulate that person).

i can guarantee you that if i sent in questions to different pendulum blogs asking if i am my kintype, i wouldn’t get all “yes” answers, so what makes you sure that your pendulum gives correct answers 100% of the time?

29th January 2017 >> 'A Change Of Mindset As The Key To A Blessed Life' ~ Daily Reflection for Roman Catholics on Sunday, of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

SCRIPTURE READINGS: [ ZEPH 2:3; 3:12-13; 1 COR 1:26-31; MT 5:1-12] We all seek a blessed life. Presumably a blessed life is a happy life. But what really is a blessed life? Does it mean being materially rich, influential and successful in the world? Or does it mean having a beautiful home, a loving family and a meaningful career and life-style? So whilst all might agree that we want a blessed life, the way we see a life as blessed might differ. Basically, there are two approaches to life, which the scripture readings present to us. One is the way of the world and the other is the way of Christ. This is expressed by St Paul when he asked the Corinthians, “how many of you were wise in the ordinary sense of the word, how many were influential people, or came from noble families? No, it was to shame the wise that God chose what is foolish by human reckoning, and to shame what is strong that he chose what is weak by human reckoning.” The way to life according to the world can be summarized in one word, power; the power over life, not just one’s life but also that of others. Power is often expressed in the desire for self-autonomy without God, self-determination and individualism. This power can be obtained first and foremost by acquiring knowledge because knowledge is power. Today, we know that to be successful in the world, we need education because education is power. That is why many of us are in the paper race, earning one degree after another. We surf the Internet for more information and knowledge. Governments and multi-corporations vie for the best CEO in town, paying them enormous salaries. There is also the race to acquire the latest technology, be it biotechnology or arms. For to have such knowledge means that we can defend ourselves from our enemies and we can prolong our life. But the point is whether such power that is acquired through knowledge or wealth can really advance life. The plain truth is that technology can also be used for the destruction of life and nations. The world lives in a precarious state because countries are always competing with each other for better technology to develop the latest weapons. So knowledge will only create further competition and fear. Secondly, power can also be acquired through wealth and status. In other words, for those of us who do not have intellectual power, we can have economic power. With money and status, one becomes influential and feared by others. People become beholden to them because of the power they hold over others through their wealth. Indeed, we know how often politicians, governments and even religious leaders are corrupted by money and bought over by rich and influential people. When power is acquired through wealth and corruption, this results in great social injustices. The rich get richer through unfair and unethical means. The poor, who have neither money nor status in life, nor influence become poorer and are robbed of their dignity and respect. This sows the seeds of jealousy, envy, hatred, greed and competition, which can lead to violence, robbery, killing and fraudulent means to acquire money. Society becomes divided since everyone treats their fellowman as competitors or even enemies. Because each cares for himself, society disintegrates first on the national then the global level. Hence, we must be weary of the approach that the world provides us to solve the world’s ills since knowledge and wealth can be used to destroy humanity and life. So we must conclude that power gained through knowledge or wealth cannot truly bring life but death! Of course, there is no denying that knowledge and wealth can help to bring about a better quality of life. The Church is not against science or technological development. But knowledge and wealth alone without the wisdom and love of God can be destructive. When man confides in his own innate power and wisdom, he becomes proud and self-centred, thinking of his own interests before others. In place of worldly power, today, the scripture readings offer us the way of God. What is this way? Prophet Zephaniah sums up the way to a blessed life in three pillars, namely, “Seek the Lord, seek integrity and seek humility.” But what does it mean to seek the Lord? To seek God is to seek His wisdom. Knowledge of God and His wisdom will enable us to live our lives meaningfully. This wisdom of God is of course revealed in the very life and teaching of Jesus. St Paul declares that God has made us members of Christ Jesus and “by God’s doing he has become our wisdom, and our virtue, and our holiness, and our freedom.” If Christ is the wisdom of God, it is because the life of Jesus manifests to us the way God looks at this world. What then is this wisdom of God? It is fundamentally a reversal of the values of the world, for it emphasizes powerlessness and humility. We see this clearly in the divine plan of salvation. In St Paul’s understanding of Christ’s death on the cross, and in his choice of the poor and the weak, God has shown that life is more than power acquired through knowledge or wealth. Indeed, “those whom the world thinks common and contemptible are the ones that God has chosen.” The death of Jesus on the cross forces us to rethink the values of the world. For the world glorifies power, knowledge and wealth but God honours the poor, the just and those who keep faith. This is again elaborated in the beatitudes of today’s gospel. The beatitudes of Christ, of course is the blueprint to life. It proclaims that real power is powerlessness through humility, poverty, justice and compassion. These beatitudes summarize the very life and attitudes that Jesus which lived during his life. However, we can arrive at a real understanding of the wisdom of God in Christ only through a life of humility. For good reason, therefore, Jesus prefaced His beatitudes with the proclamation, “Blessed are the poor in Spirit, theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” This is fundamental. Of course, the poor in spirit is clearly not the same as being materially poor or ‘poor spirited’, that is, weak in spirit. As Pope St Leo the Great said, “Poverty is blessed, then, when it is not beguiled by a longing for earthly goods and does not seek increase of the world’s riches, but desires to be enriched with heavenly blessings.” (DO Wk 22 Friday) To be poor in spirit is to recognize that one is a pauper in virtues, of love, mercy, forgiveness, generosity, compassion and truth. Of course being materially rich can become an obstacle to such spiritual virtues since as St Leo also pointed out, “very many rich people do not use their wealth for works of charity rather than as a means to puff their pride.” However, whether we are materially rich or poor, if we have the spirit of poverty, that is the desire to grow in spiritual values, then we all share a common purpose of bringing love and unity through peacemaking and compassion; justice with mercy; and truth with purity of heart. In this way, we live a life of integrity, a balanced and centred life. This is precisely what the beatitudes proclaim. Through humility, we learn gentleness and meekness in dealing with others and ourselves; we learn how to comfort others because we have gone through our own struggles; we become merciful and compassionate to others because of our solidarity with them; we thirst for justice and truth and unity because we believe we are all sons of God. Most of all, because we live in purity of God, that is a good conscience, we are not afraid of abuses and persecutions that we might suffer on account of Christ and the truth. Only such a life can bring us real peace, joy and happiness because such attitudes towards life and others, promote unity, mutual love and care; understanding and compassion; honesty and justice. Indeed, Pope John Paul II reminds us that the Kingdom of God is effectively prepared by people who carry out their work seriously and honestly, not aspiring to things that are too high, but turning, in daily faithfulness, to those that are lowly. The final question remains and which we have to answer honestly for ourselves. Why is it as Thomas Kempis in his book the Imitation of Christ, Bk 3,3 asked, that “many listen more willingly to the world than to God, and are readier to follow the desires of their flesh than God’s good pleasure? The world promises things temporal and of small value and is served with great eagerness”; but God promises “things most excellent and everlasting, and yet men’s hearts remain sluggish”; “for an unchangeable good, for an inestimable reward, for the highest honour and never-ending glory”, we are “loath to undergo even a little fatigue.” “Blush, then, slothful and querulous servant …” he said, that we “are actually more ready to labour for death” than for life; to rejoice more in vanity than the truth! The Importance of Christians Being Quiet Before God

It’s not easy for us Christians to learn to keep quiet before God in daily life, because our life is always occupied with something. We either are busy working and doing service or immerse ourselves in social media and the Internet, and even those trivial matters in life are great bondage to us.

In many cases, when you ask some brothers or sisters: “What have you been busy with recently?” They would probably tell you that they are busy working, supporting brothers and sisters, or helping their children find partners. … Few of them would answer that they are busy keeping quiet before God and pray-reading His word.

In the past, I also busily rushed about every day, and my mind was often occupied with things like where to go and what to do. When Sister Zhang was weak, I went to support her, reading God’s words to her, and communicating to her God’s will and how she should experience in such situation; when Sister Li absented herself from meetings because of the housework, I helped her do chores in order that she could have time to worship God. After returning home, I also had to take care of household affairs, and so I barely had time to quiet myself before God.

When I calmed down and recalled my experience of the whole day, I, to be honest, just knew what I had done yet didn’t know what I had gained.

Thinking carefully, I found that though I was bustling about all the day, I spent little time keeping quiet before the Lord or pray-reading God’s words. Even if I read some God’s words, it was just for helping my brothers and sisters solve their problems, not for solving my own difficulties and problems. As a result, I neither had progress in spiritual life nor gained more knowledge of God, and I was still bound in sin and living in the cycle of confessing and sinning.

It’s recorded in the Bible: “Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was encumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:38-42).

Martha was busy working, but ignored the Lord Jesus’ sermons and words. As a result, she didn’t gain the Lord’s approval despite her hard work, and she was beset by worries and troubles. Compared with Martha, Mary, though not doing anything for the Lord outwardly, gained His approval because she thirsted for the Lord’s words and firmly remembered His requirements. She focused on keeping quiet before the Lord and listening to His sermons, and thus the Lord Jesus commended her, saying, “Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

In fact, God hopes that we can gain the truth rather than work hard on the outside, so only if we pursue to gain the truth can we attain His approval. This is the most fundamental thing in our belief in God. The more frequently we keep quiet before God, the closer we will get to Him. In that case, we will obtain more enlightenment and guidance from God, know what He loathes and how to act in harmony with His will, and our relationships with Him will become more and more normal.

Additionally, our spiritual life, whether it is pray-reading, praying, pondering God’s words, fellowshiping, or attending meetings to praise God, is based on peace in our hearts before God. If we can’t quiet our hearts before God, then no matter how hard we work on the outside, we’re not putting truth into practice or being considerate of God’s will, but are doing things according to our own thoughts, and what we do has nothing to do with God. In that case, we cannot possibly gain the Holy Spirit’s guidance or achieve a good result in anything we do, and gradually we would lose faith in God, living in darkness, and even misunderstand and complain against Him.

Thinking carefully, I found that I had never focused on keeping quiet before God. I had been devoting myself to working just like Martha, and seldom quieted myself before God to read His words or pray to Him. When doing service, I also failed to keep quiet before God and never prayed to seek His will when encountering problems. As a result, I was often entangled in difficulties and sins, and after a busy day, I still felt a kind of indescribable emptiness and even lacked motivation to continue working. Now, I understand it was all because I had no God’s place in my heart but just relied on my own thoughts to act.

The Bible says: “In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and you would not” (Isaiah 30:15). “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).

When praying, we shouldn’t just say a few simple words for the sake of following a process, or enumerate a bunch of nice sounding words about God, for God will not listen to such prayer. Instead, we should keep quiet before Him, speak the words within our hearts to Him honestly, and bring our difficulties before Him to seek His will. Only after gaining God’s enlightenment and illumination can we understand His intention, which is also the prerequisite for acting in harmony with His will.

Even when we are busy with work, we should also pay attention to drawing close to God. Sometimes when the external environment doesn’t permit it, we can pray to God in the heart to seek how to perform in accord with His intention. If we practice this way, then however busy we are, we’ll be enriched in our spirits. Besides, there is also a principle to do service. If we want to do service well, we should keep quiet before God to seek the principle of work rather than act according to our own thoughts. Only in this way can we gain God’s enlightenment and guidance, achieve good results and understand more truth. Whatever we do, we should pray to and get close to God in the heart, and seek the truth to act on principles; this is what should be achieved by those who have a heart that reveres God.

Every day we will face with varieties of things, some of which are what we’ve never encountered before. If we reflect on all the things we have done in the daytime, in what matters we practiced God’s words, and in what matters we followed our own thoughts and corrupt disposition, then we can be aware of our states. After that, we should integrate God’s words to examine what we did contradicted God’s will so as to reverse the deviations and act in accordance with His will. In this way, we will make greater and greater progress in spiritual life and be more and more in line with God’s will when doing things.

As long as we focus on keeping quiet before God and pray to and seek Him in everything, we will attain the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment and illumination, understand more clearly God’s will and requirements, and have more knowledge of the truth; when encountering adversities or something troublesome, we will no longer act according to our own will. With the guidance of God’s words, we will be able to rid ourselves of the painful life of sinning and confessing.

Later, I found my state changed a lot when I focused on keeping quiet before God and sought His will regardless of what circumstances befell me. Though I was still busy as before, I knew I should seek and practice God’s words in everything. When unhappy situations happened to me, I would pray to God and ask Him to lead me to experience them. Practicing like this, I found my relationship with God closer and closer and I myself more and more enriched in spirit. Besides, my troubles and concerns were gradually eliminated and resolved.

I believe if you focus on being quiet before God and spend more time drawing near to Him, you will have a surprising gain.
