I've got a few messages and tags saying that my ant art is helping with their insect/ant phobias and i find that really touching, I'm glad I can help you love these wonderful insects because although they make up such a massive part of the animal population not many care to have a closer look at the little guys...

Is it OWMH for pranking my vice housewarden? I (17M), might have a bit of a crush on my housewarden (also 17M). This isn’t something that hinders my day-to-day life, I’m able to go about my time at my dorm just fine, and I do consider him a friend (tho I’ve never been close w the vice (also 17M), in fact he actively dislikes me and I can’t say I’m too fond of him.) two or three days ago, my vice housewarden was cooking dinner, as he tends to, and i was in the lounge talking with my housewarden and a few other sophomores from our dorm. Now my vice knows well of my predicament by now; he overheard me tell my friend abt it a long time ago. (My friend is in a diff dorm so she didn’t snitch I was just talking far too loudly). Anyway, I happened to be sitting next to the housewarden during this talk which, again involves multiple people, and I hear the vice call my name. I’m also pretty competent in the kitchen myself, so I assumed he just needed help with something, but to my surprise, dinner was basically done. He pulled me aside and sternly told me to stop trying things with the housewarden as it could get all three of us in major trouble, to which I very clearly state I was not trying anything. He denies this claim and continues to threaten me with a kitchen spoon, so I dejectedly left to eat my soup in my room.
Now, my vice famously has a massive phobia of insects and arachnids, and I, famously, have a pet tarantula. Her name is Willow. Vice started getting noticeably pissy every time I would talk to Housewarden, even if it was a simple 5-second interaction. A few hours ago, I was reading in the lounge while vice was doing homework on his laptop. Housewarden came in to give me something that I had left in the classroom (we share a class), and quickly leaves, to which vice gets all annoyed at me again. So i excused myself to my room and started setting up my scheme. I took a few of the bulbs out of my light and put the cover back on, then I took Willow out. I called the vice in saying that my light wasn’t turning on, and he reluctantly came in to investigate, forgetting I’m the one with the spider.
As he was fiddling with the light switch, I put Willow on my desk which he was standing near. He looked over to tell me something and saw her, and the look on his face was golden. I felt like I was getting compensation for every time he’s ever wronged me before. And he screamed, and it was hilarious. He ran out of the room and slammed the door and I was dying laughing.
Just a few minutes ago, housewarden made a general comment to some other people (I may have been eavesdropping) about how upset the vice was and how shaken up he’d gotten. I don’t feel bad, but housewarden does, so I guess I feel slightly bad. Should I be beheaded?

This seems like a good time to remind folks of this part of my pinned post [ which is also in my mobile rules & in my carrd. ]

I write content that does fall under the Dead Dove Umbrella. Not anything sexualized, but I do tend to write more uncomfortable topics regarding:
•Familial Physical / Mental Abuse
•Matricide / Patricide
•Delusions, psychosis, PTSD-induced panic disorders / attacks
•Drug abuse / usage [ specific to very few muses & tagged very heavily as such, if I ever post that here, which I highly doubt I will. ]
•GORE. This is a big one. I try to write things as being accurate in terms of injuries / wounds, death scenes, battlefield scenes, etc. I come from a medical background, I spent 5 years listening to nursing students and their lectures as well as helping them study for their exams, and I'm a massive history buff. Things like period-accurate medical procedures are my weird niche. So I don't shy away from gore. I've taken history & medical courses specifically for this.
•DEATH. Death of loved ones. Death of mind. Ego Death. Raising the dead & using the dead as weapons. The dead are here.
•I'M A HORROR FANTASY WRITER. Granted, I have toned down a LOT of stuff regarding a few OCs to make it more publicly palatable ( malekai, mizuki, milorad, and vasille specifically ) for the RPC.
•Also, I tap into certain things that in general make folks uncomfortable ( uncanny valley, certain phobias regarding insects or serpents, medical-based things, body dysmorphia + body dysphoria, self mutilation, body horror, stalking, obsessiveness / possessiveness in a totally not good way, etc. )
Granted, majority of these will only show up in *SOLOS*, or rarely in threads between myself and a small select others that are OKAY with these topics. And today was a big slip in regards to how I normally tag, and I apologize for that. I do try to tag my posts as accurately as possible, but sometimes shit slips and that's on me.
If there are specific triggers that you have, PLEASE. LET ME KNOW. I can't remember every single trigger every single person has, so I try to cover broad bases, but if I need to be more specific- I gladly will. But I need to know what these are, because not everyone will have the same triggers.
That being said: if Something I post makes you uncomfortable, and you no longer wish to remain mutuals: softblock me. It's okay. It sucks, but if it makes your experience here better? I understand. It's okay. No hard feelings. Or even hard block me ( though if you don't mind, give me a heads up so I don't go asking where xyz is. I won't be angry, I promise. I get it. My block list is a mile long on various platforms. )
Alright.
That's all.

hi!! if it's okay what advice would you give to a person with a severely irrational fear of insects? i absolutely hate it when people suggest to me that i should kill them as a form of "contact therapy" because it would end up upsetting me even more because of how cruel that is. i love the massive variety of creatures on our planet and having this phobia is deeply frustrating for me. if i can i wanna learn how to not be afraid!
hi anon!! tysm for taking the time to try and work on it and not killing bugs :)
the first step, i would say, should be pictures; get a book on insects, follow a blog that posts about them, look up articles on wikipedia or pictures on inaturalist. you can start with stereotipically cute bugs, such as fluffy bumblebees and pretty moths/butterflies, the closeups of their faces will help you get more familiar with general insect anatomy and then when you see those features on other "scarier" bugs they wont seem as strange. also, macro and slow-mo videos are really great! and of course, learning their behavior etc i think should help understand them better and thus fear them less.
for irl, maybe if you have a natural history museum near you, you can go look at their insect collections; itll be real insects, but no risk of them moving, and you can see their size and stuff like that.
then, maybe if you can find someone irl who keeps a pet bug (mantis, roaches, beetles...) to approach it in a controlled environment while still interacting with a live insect. If you don't have that, I find meadows in the peak of summer to have mostly butterflies and grasshoppers, both of which are very harmless bugs who sometimes, if you're lucky, will sit pretty on your hand for a few seconds so you can observe them upclose :)
it's really awesome of you to try and work on a phobia like this! if it helps, as a person who has been doing bug photography for a while now, and thus getting very very close to and picking up bugs, including ones who can sting, none have ever hurt me. they are, in the vaaast majority of cases, just vibing along. i think the most an insect has ever tried to harm me was when a ladybug sprayed stinky liquid on my hand lol

Second blog masterpost
So I’m finally using the second blog for something, my main has cemented itself as the fandom chaos blog so here’s where I’m gonna post more personal stuff like my art and fursuiting pics
Main blog: @snackhouse
Other stuff:
Also keeping this place way more organized with tags so here’s the main ones you’ll be seeing and what they mean
#snackary’s mind random thoughts and personal posts
#fursuiting fursuit pics and videos
#reblogs from main posts from the main blog
#friend art!! art by my friends!
#fandom containment breach fandom posts from the main fandom blog that ended up here anyway
#art commissions art I’ve commissioned
#oodles of doodles my own art
#buggy bois pictures of bugs
#my leggy babies pictures of my bugs
#misc reblogs random things I reblog
#obligatory cicada repost posts about cicadas that I’m legally required to reblog because I’m The Cicada Furry
Various character tags posts with those characters in them, can be art, fursuits or lore info. Example: #imago the cicada
I’ll probably add more as time goes on so keep an eye out here
Warnings:
I raise, keep, and work with insects, arachnids and other creepy crawlies. While all bugs posts are tagged please be aware you will see animals like spiders, centipedes, scorpions and cockroaches on this blog!
While I never make/reblog anything more then (very) mildly suggestive stuff in regards to sexual stuff, I’m a big fan of things like body horror and sometimes include it in my art.
DNI
This should go without saying but this is a TERF and nazi free space, this blog is run by a queer Jewish woman with no tolerance for bigotry. This is non negotiable, hate is not welcome here.
People who say stuff like “ew squish it” or “kill it with fire” on pictures of people’s bugs. It’s completely fine to be uncomfortable/have a phobia of bugs and creepy crawlies. This is NOT an excuse to joke about killing people’s pets. Most of the bugs I post here are the animals I personally keep and raise, they are my babies and joking about harming them will not be tolerated. I will happily educate people about these animals or help people with their fears but please be respectful.
People who hate on furries. You are not funny, grow up.
DO NOT FLIRT OR MAKE SEXUAL COMMENTS ABOUT ME EVEN AS A JOKE!! I’m a sex repulsed aromantic asexual and I’m NOT comfortable with any sort of sexual/romantic advances! Please respect my identity.
A little about me!
Hello! I’m SnackHouse but you can also call me Snack, Snackary, AJ or by any of my sonas! I do not use my real name online.
My main sonas is Marianas the sea monster and Leah the cockatrice. Peʁes the bearded vulture and Imago the cicada are also sonas.
My pronouns are she/her/hers
I’m a 23 year old aroace jewish woman from Colorado who’s very active in the local fursuiting scene.
I’m a writer who’s spent the last decade building a massive world in my mind that I someday hope to share!
I’m a newbie fursuit maker who someday hopes to do commissions, specializing in weird and uncommon species.
I work with both birds and bugs! Keeping chickens, finches and all kinds of insects and arachnids.
I’m most well known for my primary fursuit, Imago the cicada, I have yet to encounter another cicada fursuiter and I heavily encourage anyone who’s interested to make/get bug suits and join the small but tight-knit ranks of bug furries!

WHAT IS MY MUSE AFRAID OF? - Valentino
In the list below, bold all the fears your muse currently has, italicize all the fears they've worked through or grown out of, answer the questions below, and then pass it on by tagging your favorite muns to participate!
COMMON FEARS & PHOBIAS:
The dark l Small spaces l Suffocation l Water l Thunderstorms l Dogs l Snakes l Spiders l Insects l Clowns l Blood l Dentists l Hospitals l Needles l Germs l Heights l Fire l Insects l Public speaking l Large crowds l Meeting new people l Being alone l Being touched l Failure l Imperfection l Societal rejection l Physical intimacy l Emotional intimacy l Being abandoned l Being forgotten
What other fears do they have? Valentino fears being seen as weak and being disrespected. He feels like he will never be taken seriously if he cannot be respected. He fears irrelevancy. He fears commitment. He fears rejection from a romantic partner.
Why do they have these fears? Are these fears innate, trauma-based, or generational? Most of his fears are trauma-based, especially the ones about being abandoned/rejected/committed. Not being taken seriously/being disrespected is from being raised as the eldest of his mother's kids but still younger than his cousin Darío, who was always treated like his older brother. His fear of spiders only happened once he got to Hell, where the spiders are MASSIVE and he is a moth; natural prey.
Have they ever tried to work through or confront these fears? How did it go? He has gotten over his fear of small spaces and thunderstorms! He managed to work through those things at a young age. The rest of his fears he has not worked on.
Original
Tagging: @infernal-feminae (anyone you like!), @hellsmayflower, @ladiesofhell (anyone you like!), @voxiiferous, @hannah-the-small (anyone you like!), @radicheart, @shadowofthehost, @overangeled, @a-hazbin-spider, @arachn0philia, @spidrboots, @ritzy-cervidae, @strangeandun-muse-ual (Vox!)! No pressure if you don't want to do it! If you want to tag me back for a different character feel free!
#HEADCANONS ➽➽➽#And If You Get In My Face Then You’ll Get A Taste Even God Would Run Son (ναℓєитιиσ)

What other fears do they have? Anything that links her to being walked all over, used, or undermined. Not only does it irritate her, but it is a huge fear because it really does dampen her self image.
Why do they have these fears? Are these fears innate, trauma-based, or generational? Both trauma based and generational, some are due to her personality though.
Have they ever tried to work through or confront these fears? How did it go? Fears from her childhood, such as dentist, hospital, thunder, and most others listed were due to her parents and Dewey trying to help her overcome them once it got too out of hand (Tatum turned into a massive diva over those fears until begrudgingly giving in that she should get better.) Out of control fire, social rejection as well as imperfection are the main ones that she has the most trouble with getting anywhere near to overcome. Insects are just something that can freak her out but it truly depends, it's like a mediocre fear of hers.
Tagging: Anyone who wants to play!! :))

New visitor to the porch today, a heckin massive robber fly

They look very scary, but they're predators only to other insects. (Like the one it's eating here? That I just noticed??)
Despite my bug phobia, I'm actually excited to see this one because it means my garden is supporting enough insect life to be a good hunting ground

I'm not making a universal general statement here but maybe this will help some people who are afraid of bugs.
I'm terribly arachnophobic. horribly. I get it, the irrational fear you can't fully erase. Yes I'm an entomologist and yes everyone at work thinks it's very funny.
But the more you pick away bit by bit at that general massive ball of fear, the more you can understand it and turn fear to wonder. I started small, just learning some facts about spiders but still unable to stomache looking at pictures.
And then I realized I could look at jumping spiders fine and made an effort to try to appreciate what I could about them. From there I could realized I could look at and Touch harvestmen and that there was a whole world to them to learn and love too. And by turning that Ambiguous Ball of Fear into curiosity and respect I've gotten to a place I can live side by side with my arachnophobia and approach spiders with appreciation, even if I will cry if forced to touch one.
And I guess it makes me sad when people's response to their fear is hatred and to kill. I understand the phobia and bugs and wasps especially is real and I'll never try to convince someone they're wrong for it - but treating insects with intentional ignorance will only make it worse and keep you from a whole world of wonder.

Im a firm believer that knowledge can help reduce fear, and while i very much have issues with googl, it is nice being able to use it to quickly make an educated guess if the thing flying in my backyard is a bee or a wasp.
#espy talks#im 80% confident its carpenter bees so it should be fine#its fiiiiine I'll be fiiiine. probably#i do have a massive phobia of insects though. specifially of them getting on me and stingling or biting#looking at em? thats fine. some bugs can be pretty cute#its still pretty chilly out but it must be getting close to warming up since im seeing them more#should probably get my dad or my brother to mow the yard soon#which is sad cause then the bees wont have flowers to polunate but also it might stop em from roaming so close to the house#unless theyre nesting in our roof or smthn which is a problem#cant do anything about it till friday at least so im not gonna worry bout it

Crane with a s/o that gets scared easily.
(Gender neutral!)
-My my, aren't you a scaredy cat? He will absolutely adore the noises you make when getting jumpscared by him for the third time today after he simply swifts from being beside you to disappearing in the dark behind a wall and then reappearing again close to your face saying "Boo!"
-There's no safe time for you when Jon is around. If you lose him out of your point of view be sure of two things: 1- He is interested in something else in the other room. 2- He is right behind you and his fingers are already crawling up in the back of your neck before another "boo!" gently blows in your ear
-Seriously, even he will wonder how the hell do you get startled so easily? He will start to think you're just pretending but then after seeing the absolute panic painted in your face when an insect started flying in the room, it was proven to him that yes… you were scared easily.
-Funny enough when you get scared from something else that isn't one of Jon's antics, (for example a movie he recommended you two to watch) he will gladly hold your shaking frame just to feel your panicked heartbeat, while trying his best not to smirk over the scene of your arms shivering. Such a sight to behold.
-Although he enjoys seeing the bright terror in your eyes, Jon has learned about your limits too well to know when to stop. He doesn't see any sort of pleasure when seeing you cry. The first time he actually did see you shedding tears out of fear from playing a horror game it made him feel kinda guilty. Jon then realises he just likes your scared expression, not your suffering one.
-Even if his whole signature is about causing people to feel their deepest fears for his own morbid curiosity, Jon feels quite satisfied with just the surface of your fears, as generic and normal as they can be. However, if you catch your own gut and manage to sit with him to talk about some of your real traumas, he will not only play his professional psychology role and assist you to face it better but will also be so proud of you.
Imagine, you are revealing your worst fears for the one who is known to weaponize them against you. Jon sees it as a massive signal of trust you have with him and as much as he is loving your spooked expression when talking about them, he will take this as a personal treasure. A private moment that only you two know about.
-Since then, it's up to you. Jon will offer his hand of help if you're willing to face your fears and try to overcome them, he knows how it feels and has a large experience on the matter.
If you feel like you are not ready or simply prefer to keep living this way, he will respect your decision and keep your traumas locked in his head as a secret.
-Keep in mind that the everyday little jumpscares will still occur.
Bonus:
"It's not a phobia, trust me. It's an expected reaction you have from the unknown of said subject. Especially after such… inconvenient events from your past." Jon finishes his talk with you sitting at the other end of the small table in your kitchen. He usually spent the whole afternoon with you during weekends before leaving again when night began to fall. Not that he was hiding from you about his underground work but this routine simply suited well between both you and him, since you aimed to maintain your normal life and Jon his hidden one both safe.
"I don't know, it's just so tiring sometimes to me like I don't want to react but yet I can't control it." You speak kinda upset, gripping your fists that were landing on the table.
"It's the opposite, my dear. Fear controls us. Our only chance is to accept and overcome it eventually if the chance appears." He replies to your frustration as calmly as if reciting a poem.
"I don't think I can do it. Hell, you've seen me freaking out because of a ridiculous small spider last week." Your attempt to lift the mood with a laugh fails as Jon keeps looking at you with a blank expression, making you look down embarrassed.
"That's why I'm here to offer you help. To give you this chance."
Still looking down, you meditate in silence about his words for a moment. Doubt still made it seem unclear as to how you would win your trauma. Lacking any idea of a viable option at the moment from yourself.
A gentle metallic noise snaps you from your thoughts. Your eyes catch the image of a syringe containing an orange liquid inside resting on the table in the space between you and Jon. He retracts his hand away from the item, folding the small secret pocket from inside his coat in which he took it out previously.
Meeting your gaze, Jon brings his hands up to his chin, intertwining his fingers and resting his elbows on the table, not breaking the eye contact he fixed with yours, though his eyes were hidden by the bright white his glasses reflected from the room's lightning.
"Of course, the choice will be yours." He reassures you about your position.
You switch your focus back to the syringe and remember clearly what is Jon's speciality together with the dangers of it. He maintains his silence, allowing you to face your own indecision before you finally speak.
"Alright. I will take the chance."
If it weren't for his hands close to his face, it wouldn't be able for him to hide his devilish smirk.
You two rearrange the chairs to be closer now, Jon assumes the position of medical administration and holds your arm gently as the slim shadow of the syringue hovers above your skin.
"I want you to know the dose will be low to not last long but enough for the chemicals to work properly. Understand?"
You nod.
"Are you sure about this?"
Once again you nod while feeling a chill sensation in your stomach. You were scared, of course you were and he knew it too. However, it was your choice.
The syringe needle sinks in the surface of your skin and slowly makes its length disappear and appear again from the spot, injecting the unholy fear substance in your blood course. The sting pain is then replaced by a numb sensation following up to your arm shaking. Your heart begins to race and you can feel sweat forming in your forehead. Wiping it with the back of your hand, you realise that your hand feels heavier than before and checking the reason for it, you're met with the vision of your skin succumbing to putrid flesh as insects start coming out of what were supposed to be your nails.
Desperation hits, you notice Jon's form switching to something darker, scarier and menacing, but his mouth remains in a serene smile before it moves to speak.
"Now tell me, what do you see?"
