i saw that you put kaidan as one of your comfort characters, and honestly, i'd love to hear all of your thoughts about him if you're up for it.

oh wow i have many thoughts lol and thanks to tumblrs tagging list on archive hes one of my most posted characters

he has many layers and through friendship/romance you get to know him pretty well. but hes one of the new (dragon age AND mass effect) characters you dont really have personal quests for? hes always his own person, he is on the rise in the alliance without shepard and probably would still be a spectre without them.

hes professional and pretty open when you first meet him in me1, and he stays that way until me2 when he feels like (lol) shepard is lost bc theyre working for cerberus. hes angry and hurt. (rightfully so)

despite fandom trying to label him “whiny” (and boring) he is not at all, in fact he tells you straight up he killed an instructor, and even though it cost him the girl he loved he didn’t regret it to protect her. he tells shepard that story to tell them to be careful

though hes military hes not a tough guy, unless the situation calls for it. hes soft, even his voice is soft. even when he raises his voice theres really no aggression. (at least from what ive seen, ive never done full renegade) i know its just his VA but i love how when he speaks he does it slowly, with much thought, and feeling, trying to come up with the right words.

hes got a dry sometimes weird sense of humor. i personally hc him on the autistic spectrum and he deals with migraines regularly. not an easy thing to deal with (the migraines) especially in a stressful place dealing with the reapers. he’s awkward sometimes and its endearing. i just love his personality and i love that hes a happy loving drunk and a horrible dancer as we’ve seen in the citadel dlc. this has nothing to do with anything but ass man confirmed (and a dom)

Just like, hes strong, within himself, has dealt with his issues (seemingly?) on his own, we don’t really know. (unless its in codex, i dont read it much lol)

despite all thats happened (with shepard) he still tries really hard to be optimistic. he’s brave and strong, but isnt preachy about it. he doesn’t look down on anyone. like renegade shepard has to push him to be xenophobic. ive been around military people and uh they were nothing like him. hes just a guy, a kind thoughtful guy who cares about people. human or not.

by the time me3 comes around kaidan technically outranks shepard but still treats them the same, alliance wise. he takes his humble pie and respects women juice daily. i dont think theres a single banter that i dont like?? thats like so rare lol. and i love that he is bi by me3 .and despite biowares attempt to make him white we know he’s a poc and hes just really important to me

€ : Nervous habits

Pacing, looking around, tossing his hair out of his face and running a hand through it, being a bit fidgety, and wearing a more serious expression. Nervous Adam behaves somewhat like a nervous horse; high alert, straightened posture, and a general aura of unease, poised to spring into action (or just bolt on out of there) the second the situation requires it.

He'll admit to feeling uneasy when asked, but won't specify why without further prodding.

= : Things that make my muse nervous

Red lyrium. It should make anyone nervous, especially given what it's capable of, but the heightened awareness that comes with magical ability makes just being near it pretty bad. The Inquisition deals with a lot of places where it juts out of the ground in massive crystalline spires, and its mages (one of them being the Inquisitor herself) have to be especially careful to avoid prolonged exposure.

Also, situations heavy in human politics, at first because it's such an unknown, and then because it's something that seems so petty but carries an immense weight in Thedas as a whole. She's a lot better at handling them, though, since she's good at concealing her nervousness and choosing her words. It's an unexpected level of eloquence that charmed the Orlesian court.

What makes me happy? Oh gosh.

Getting a good amount of sleep with good dreams in a cozy bed

Having notes on my art/stories (Or some indication that people bothered to look at it or something)

Animals. Especially cuddly ones.

Being outdoors and enjoying nature (minus the bug bites).

Working on my art and stories.

I’m really exhausted and not one to continue these chain things, but other people can do it for me.

Are you staying home from work or school?

I am working full time from home.  Oddly enough, I have been asking to work from home most days for a few months, so it's somewhat of a silver lining.  Coronavirus is giving me a lot of anxiety, but otherwise, my mental health has actually improved, largely due to this.

I work in aerospace, so I'm expecting that we'll be furloughing or laying off people eventually.  Airlines aren't going to be buying planes (or in our case, specifically the engines that power them) for a few years unless it's a really short recession.  My spouse is going to be furloughed one week out of every month until this is over.  It could be a lot worse.  We're pretty lucky.

If you’re staying home, who’s with you?

My spouse, our three cats, and a bunch of fish!  We have a 20 gal with a betta, shrimp, and snails; a 60 gal with two plecos, rainbowfish, glowlight tetras, otos, and corys; and then a new-ish 75 gal with shrimp, snails, an angelfish and cardinal tetras.

Are you a homebody?

Absolutely. But not being able to go out is different from choosing not to go out.  

An event that you were looking forward to that got canceled.

My niece's first birthday is in April.  We were going to visit for her party.  Also, I bought some seeds, but I'm basically resigned to missing a lot of the gardening season this year, which is bumming me out.  (I know nurseries are still open now, but I'm not really counting on that holding.  And it's still too early to plant things outdoors here.)

What movies have you watched recently? What shows are you watching?

I like having movies or TV on for background while I write (it's less distracting than music).  Currently I'm watching the MCU movies.

What music are you listening to?

This answer never fails to annoy someone, but in truth I really only listen to music in the car.  Since I’m not driving much, I'm not listening to much music, either.  It's just not a big part of my life.

What are you reading?

I'm re-reading the Ancillary Justice series for the… who knows how many times.  It's comfort food.  Also @citadelsushi's Give to Pressure which is a fucking fantastic fic. I wrote fic for this fic, that's how good it is.

What are you doing for self-care?

The biggest one was ordering a new chair for my desk at home.  My lower back has been at this full-time in the home office thing for two weeks and hates my guts.
