In 2001, Joel appeared in 3 films and an appearance on Law & Order.

The Believer, starring Ryan Gosling. Here Joel he plays a young KKK member.

Snipes, starring Sam Jones III, and rapper Nelly. Joel plays one of a group of bad guys.

Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, included an array of stars, such as Alan Arkin and Matthew McConaughey in different tales culminating in the question "What is happiness and how do you achieve it?" Joel is in only one small scene with one line.

In 2002, Joel Marsh Garland appeared in one-off roles in 3 TV shows, Third Watch, Witchblade and The West Wing and in a small role in the film, Maid In Manhattan.

Joel appeared in an episode of Third Watch as a scared, angry, threatening patient who needs to be restrained in bed.
