“They’re jeggings!” Kai exclaims. “And stop criticizing my fashion, I look gorgeous."

tired:

Liam looked tired, so, so tired, and he was pale and there were dark circles forming around his eyes. Blood was leaking through his bandages.

climb:

She climbed out her window and scrambled up the ladder, leaning against their mud and straw house. Sitting on the roof, Vita could see the countless stars and the silhouettes of the mountains in the distance.

answer:

Hell, even her lips are soft.

Amber blinks and shakes the thought away. Vita's still staring at her, and she realizes she's gone too long without answering.

"Um," Amber mumbles. "I promise."

Rules: I dare you to make an AU of a WIP on the spot and fill in the following intro categories.

i will be doing this for we'll make it to the ocean!!

au title: surfers

setting: like, modern time, but before covid, so maybe 2017 or 2018

concept: there's a surfer who lives in the little house by the beach. there's a new guy who's moved to their town to get away from the city, and come back to the place that holds his childhood. they meet.

aesthetic: the feeling of coming home, the scent of salt & fish in the air, sticking to your clothes and your shoes, the crest of a wave and how you feel the water move underneath you, and make those tiny adjustments to keep yourself steady, the delight of meeting someone who loves something as much as you do, secrets long held but when they're whispered out the ocean air to someone you trust, the burden you carried along with the secrets disappear, too.

tiny scene/line:

"Alex," Alex says, and holds out his hand. The guy takes it, and he's got old callouses, from rope and nets, Alex guesses.

"Liam," the guy says, and he's smiling, softly. "You own the house down south?"

"Yeah. Can you surf?"

Liam looks a little taken aback by the question; it's sudden, Alex understands, but he's curious. How'd the city kid get his callouses?

"Er, no, but I do sail."

That explains it. "I'll teach you to surf if you teach me to sail," Alex offers, and Liam grins, revealing a dimple in his right cheek. He's cute, he realises, too late.

“Alex,” Liam says, his voice loud in the odd silence of the room. “Sweetheart, is the sky supposed to be orange?” 

Alex’s head snaps up and he blinks at the sky. The orange fucking sky.  

yellow: 

“Sunflowers,” Vita murmurs. “They don’t grow in areas like this, do they?” 

Amber glances at the small yellow flower that Vita’s cradling in her hands. She’s kneeling on the ground, and as Amber watches, more and more sunflowers spring up around Vita. 

“No,” she replies. “They don’t. This is all you, Vita.” 

green: 

“Green,” Vita whispers, after a pause. “My favourite colour is green.” 

blue: 

You look down at your arms, which are covered with swirls of blue. 

“Drea,” you hiss. “Drea, my arms are blue.”

Drea’s arms are turning purple. “They do that, sometimes,” she says. The lines of blue have reached your shoulders, and you flap your arms around, trying to get rid of them.

“Violet,” Drea remarks absently. “Very few people in the Shade World are violet.” 

“So I’m special?” you ask, glaring at your toe. Your stupid, stupid toe, which is now a bright violet.

hi enchant!! thank you for the ask <33 going to pick liam [loml] for Reasons. also i'm trying to get myself back into wmitto & my longer books so maybe this'll help!! anyways, liam:

his ideal vacation is a sunny, sunny day in the beach, with people he loves. probably alex would be splashing about in the water like a child, he'd be chilling under an umbrella BUT with his feet out in the sun since his feet get cold easily [no, i am not projecting,] reading a book, and i can see him sipping from one of those little glass things with the umbrella on top. also, his little brothers would probably be there and he'd let them bury him in the sand and then break out and pretend to chase them into the ocean. the day would end with him and alex [holding HANDS] watching the sun set over the ocean, and maybe a few ice creams for his bros and a stroll down the beach. he would get so many seashells.

this was oddly fun to write :] i love liam, and i also love projecting on him. yes <3. thank you for the good vibes!! i hope your day is going well/i hope your day goes well <33

hmm, i don't think so? i just kind of have the main characters all set out and plotted and stuff already, and i don't really accidentally end up giving a character more importance than i wanted? akjdsdkjd

SO MANY. SO MANY. i've written so many found family scenes from elemental that do not fit ANYWHERE into the story, and there's this really desperate scene at the end of we'll make it to the ocean that i Long To Include but it doesn't fit in with the ending ://

so long. SO LONG. some for more than three years, some for less than three months shfsdkjjs

HA okay so for 20 seconds left, it's the mission impossible theme. i wanted to make it a classic spy story, but add twists of my own, with young, preteen, indian characters, targeted towards them. the mi theme is cheesy as hell and it fits the Spy Genre, and also i love the fucking series it's love of my whole entire life

god, yes!! at the end of wmitto, i planned a Lot More Deaths than originally occurred, but then i wrote a Scene, and i came up with the title, and then i went, 'wait...' and then everything Changed.

“I must be something special, then,” Michael says lowly, and removes a hand from his pocket, placing it over Jack’s hand. His first two fingers take Jack’s pulse, rapid fast, and he can feel the cool metal of the gun, too, a sharp contrast to the warmth of Jack’s skin.

ooh okay, so, for 20sl, anusha's parents met at an archaeology dig, where her mom accidentally fell into the pit they were excavating, and she found anusha's dad there. it turned out he'd fallen in before her, and he was searching the site without his team, so no one could rescue him :/ BUT anusha's mom [deepa] and ayush [anusha's dad] end up excavating the pit as they're stuck in it and discover a couple of Cool Ceramics and nerd out over it and five years later they're married. :D

🍋: What is your OC's most painful memory?

his mother leaving him & his brothers. okay, so he wakes up in the middle of the night because leo [his younger brother] is crying his EYES out and he goes to the room leo & jack share, and there's him mom, trying to shush the boys while she's got this scared, run-away-animal look.

there's a suitcase and a backpack on the floor. liam doesn't understand why his mom is leaving, but he takes leo in his arms [leo, who is seven,] and shushes him, and jack clings to the back of his shirt as their mom picks up the bags and leaves. she turns around at the doorway of the boy's room and she mouths, goodbye, and liam has to fight back the tears because he's got to be strong for his brothers and he doesn't understand why their mom is leaving.

she didn't mean to wake them up. she didn't even mean to say goodbye, liam realises a lot later. she was just going to kiss them in the night and leave.

🌽: How does this OC feel about acts of affection? What's their favourite act of affection, physical or emotional?

like every survivor of the apocalypse, he's VERY touch starved. he's a little wary around verbal affection because he's told himself there's something wrong with him, for his mom to leave and for his dad to never really look at him after she did that. there's nothing wrong with him, btw. and he LOVES physical affection!! with two brothers, he was always tussling them and playing around with them and he's used to casual touches, hugs, tickles, etc.

🍷: What's one of your OC's pet peeves concerning food?

hmm, i'm not really sure he has a pet peeve concerning food. he does lose his appetite a lot during the course of the story, though, he'll only eat fresh fruit and soup, due to [spoilers]

under the cut because it got. really long.

listing out alex [wmitto], iza [tkqg], anusha [20sl], suraj [20sl] and amber!! [elemental]

alex: would save his friends over the world. he. he Becomes Aware of it.

iza: prideful. will never bow down, or stop fighting. this, ironically, also happens to be one of her best qualities. half aware of it.

anusha: timid. she's only truly Herself while acting, and she's afraid to step up and into the light. not aware.

suraj: thinks he's better than EVERYONE. so arrogant and also a selfish dick. he's majorly flawed also i love him. he is VERY aware of his flaws.

amber: will carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. very unaware of this. my baby girl <3

2. ooh, okay, five words: 'girl accidentally becomes a spy', alternatively, 'kids try stopping bomb explosion'.

3. 20 SECONDS LEFT. it's got the mission impossible theme song and also this fallout one and this other mi3 one AND this james bond one and also this final spy one. i have a tiny mission impossible obsession. and a tiny james bond one. i'm so sorry.

4. favourite part: getting to create characters and put them in situations and have them experience crazy things that make them grow as people. and also getting to work through your problems as you write and also writing things i love to read. least favourite part: the planning, + the little filling up bits where you have to transition between a scene and the next and you're just. blank. and also when you WANT to write but No Words.

5. for 20sl, because i am Attached, i made up this story ages ago, and it was based off this one scene i really wanted to write with cool spy gadgets. as a kid i was OBSESSED with cool spy gadgets. i wanted to fly, but i couldn't, so i made my characters fly instead. anyways, the books i grew up reading didn't really have any indian protagonists. i have one [1] book in my collection with an indian cast, and i wanted to write something for myself, something 12 year old me needed, something cheesy and silly and something kids in india could read and love. and yeah, the idea of gadgets and spies was adjusted a little and BOOM! i just want to tell the story of a Normal 12 Year Old Schoolgirl who now has to save the world.

6. transition scenes. i don't even know why. i jsut. find them difficult. also, action scenes, if i'm not Feeling The Mood.

7. alex and amber!! i project onto them so much hhh and also i find writing the pov character in true colours really easy and comfortable as well!!

Clam Chowder: A scene that has special meaning to you

i'm answering this again fjfhsj. there's a scene in a fanfic [a klance fanfic, to be exact] that i wrote where a character comes to terms with his sexuality. the other one is secure in who they are, they know what they want, and they're good with being gay but our first character is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that they're bi and while doing so, they mess with character b's feelings. this scene means a lot [a LOT] to me because i struggled with my sexuality for ages and i wanted to explore that struggle by way of writing, and i chose keith and lance because the two of them mean a lot to me as well. and recently something happened alongside the lines of my fic [it was insane] and i went back and wrote and wrote and had a messy piece about coming to terms with who you are and that whole scene means a lot to me. yeah kjdfjksjd.

Borscht: A future scene you dread writing (but can't get rid of)

FUCK. okay. there's a scene in we'll make it to the ocean where the mutants breach the safe house which i have been procrastinating for SO LONG because it breaks my FUCKING HEART because all the shit i need to include in that scene is integral to the plot BUT IT'S SO HEARTBREAKING. THAT I CANNOT. i really need to write it but also no <3 going to write the fluff filled scenes and pretend it doesn't exist <3

Sopa De Letras: Tell us about a character's family

HOO BOY okay. so, liam's mother left his family when he was twelve, and his little brothers were 10 and 7 respectively. after his mother left, his father drowned himself in alcohol and could barely bring himself to look at his kids, much less take care of them. liam had to become a parent to his little brothers, [jack is the middle child, leo's the youngest] and they're his whole. entire. life. he'd die for them. he had to push down his own issues to look after his brothers, both of whom are delights, by the way. jack is the troublemaker, the chaotic one, and liam adores him. they clash a lot because liam sticks to the rules and jack loves breaking them, but in the end liam is the only one jack looks up to [their mom leaving and their dad's spiral after it fucked. jack. up.] leo is a sweetheart. he's still got that innocent view of the world, and both liam and jack would do anything to protect him from the horrors of the world. they're a tight pack, the three of them. fun excerpt:

Liam and Alex had been spared from the worst of it. They both were holed up in a basement of a museum, separately, of course, exploring stacks and stacks of pages, when the blast struck.

They both had stopped browsing at the same time.

Liam’s first thoughts were, my brothers where are my brothers.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup: What was your inspiration for this wip

okay so i'm not really sure!!! normally, i get my wips from specific scenes that just appear in my head and i'm like 'hey that doesn't seem so bad actually' and i build on it and BOOM. i had just finished rwrb, and i'd had a really interesting conversation with one of my friends about how zombies/mutants might actually be formed in the real world. i wanted to write a piece about queer love that might make someone feel the same way i did after i read queer content [and this was like, just after i'd finally come to terms with my sexuality.] also i was going through an apocalypse phase fkjdhdsjk. that + rwrb + that Convo with my friend + world war z + my acceptance probably played a role in this.

Knoephla Soup: What is your average chapter wordcount?

i'm not really sure 😅😅 i kind of just end them when i get That Feel or if i think that'll be a good place to tie off the current scene.

wip intro: we'll make it to the ocean

(i've talked about this a lot, and the wip intro is finally here!)

Alex made a promise to Liam, when they were 13, and they had just lost everything to a nuclear blast that would turn people into flesh-craving mutants.

"We'll make it to the ocean," he promised. "Together."

Young and scared, Liam had believed him.

Now, Alex isn't so sure he can keep his promise.

They're 17, and Alex has to deal with his best friend (and love of his life, but he'll think about that later) turning into a mutant, holding the cure that could save Liam in his body, but knowing that to give up the cure (and. y'know, save the man he loves), he'll have to give up his life.

Yeah. Everything is a fucking mess.

Genre: Dystopia, Romance, Mystery

Themes: Found Family, Angst, Love, Self-Love, Sacrificial Tendencies

Characters!!

Alex: Rough, snarky. He hides his emotions with humour. Very, very insecure, and very, very in love with Liam. He's selfless, curious, smart, and reckless. Impulsive. He's actually smart, he just doesn't use his brain. Latino. His hair is always a mess. Extremely touchy and temperamental when the people he loves are threatened, and if he feels bad, he takes it out on his body in the form of excessive jogging and working out. He swears a lot <3

Liam: Over-analyses everything, he's a little better at expressing his emotions than Alex, but still very emotionally constipated. Thinks wayyy too much. His mind is organized chaos, and sometimes he just wants to shut if off when it gets too much. Logical, and stops Alex from diving headfirst into danger. He's a sunshine boy, warm and happy in a quiet way. Insecure as fuck. Extremely in love with Alex. Doesn't swear as much as Alex. Leftie <3

Alice: Tired Dad Energy. She's done with Alex and Liam's pining and is so close to locking them in a room together and forcing them to talk. Fiercely protective, kinda like a Mama Bird. She's a little bit broken, a little bit lost after the death of her partner. Her energy is binging a shitty T.V show with you while eating Doritos to help you forget about your problems and have some fun. She sticks to her promises.
