Angsty QuiObi fic idea where, after Master and Apprentice and the events of Pijal, Qui-Gon decides to take the seat on the Council anyway and gives up Obi-Wan to a different Master. Like, he genuinely believes it's the right thing to do for the good of all, and, after that mission, Obi-Wan clearly has what it takes to get over it and thrive because he's so capable and smart, right? He doesn't need Qui-Gon because he'll be great no matter what. If anything, Qui-Gon was right, he IS just holding Obi-Wan back.
Fast forward a few years, and Qui-Gon is constantly frustrated and still at odds with the rest of the Council because it turns out being the minority dissenting voice still doesn't affect change or result in any meaningful pull when it comes to Council decisions. The only difference is now he's stuck at the Temple instead of going out and helping people. Then Obi-Wan (who has managed to completely avoid Qui-Gon this whole time) and his new Master come in for a mission briefing, and Qui-Gon sees a completely different Obi-Wan: Gaunt, severe, dead-eyed, barely looks anyone in the eye and DEFINITELY never once looks over at Qui-Gon. Only speaks when directly asked something, and even his voice sounds different. Soft and emotionless. Nothing like his spitfire Padawan.
Afterwards, Qui-Gon is concerned (and maybe a little freaked out), so he tracks down Obi-Wan's new Master and asks how he's doing. They're just like, "Oh, he's the perfect Padawan. He's obedient and follows orders without argument, he's capable of handling responsibility, he excels in all of his classes, he trains hard...and that's it. He never smiles or laughs, he doesn't have hobbies or indulgences, he never goes out with friends, he rarely shares his opinions. It's like there's no heart in him. But hey, how's that Council seat treating you?"
Qui-Gon realizes immediately that he's made a terrible mistake. That they're both miserable and it wasn't worth it. And more than that, seeing Obi-Wan makes him realize how much he misses him. Except this was all his own fault. He did this. And he did far more than just hurt Obi-Wan, he completely broke his heart. Now he has no idea how to fix it, or how to ever get Obi-Wan to talk to him, let alone trust him again.
Is this anything?

Thank you @friendlyneighbourhoodelf for the tag!!
Here's another snippet from the long Clone Wars wip and Cody having a not-so-good time as usual:
As she picked at his bandages and infusions, his attention slipped from the room: through the window’s glass, past Coruscant’s bustling traffic, to the familiar ship that hung in the sky far away.
His home.
He watched it ascend, off to the next mission. Cody was an afterthought on this pit stop. Not a second to waste, no pity taken on the wheels that needed changing, no goodbye.
Selfishly, his heart bled.
And this right here may or may not be a fanfic illustration which I am having a lot of fun with 👀

Round 2 Of Artists Claims For The Regular WIPBB Are Open! Round 2 lasts until July 31st! You may claim 3 fics this round!
This is one of the fics open for claiming...
Star Wars (All Media Types) Star Wars (Prequel Trilogy) #105 Title: Burn the Land Pairing/Characters: No pairings - Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker, Xanatos du Crion, Feemor Rating: Teen | T Warnings/Tags: No Warnings apply Summary: A very awkward family reunion with all Jinn Padawans - current, former, and disavowed - gives Qui-Gon the chance to repair his relationship with Obi-Wan, who left the Jedi after Naboo.
It's an AU where Obi-Wan takes Maul down on Tattooine, so he, Qui-Gon, and Anakin do not go to Naboo. After hunting the Sith for a couple years, Obi-Wan left the Jedi and wound up connecting with Feemor and Xanatos, Qui-Gon's former Padawans, and realized Xanatos wasn't quite as evil as they'd thought. The story takes place a couple years after that, when Qui-Gon and Anakin end up being rescued by Obi-Wan and they team up to investigate a group that tried to attack them. It's heavily focused on Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's relationship, and centers around forgiveness and growth.

Dha Kar'ta (wipwed 1)
wipwed stuff will be linked from my masterlist, which is my pinned post, where you’ll also find links to the main fic! i love you all!! i hope you’re safe and well!! *very minor blood warning*
“Please,” Quinlan scoffs, “even if you’d had months to prepare, Obi would have still defeated you. Do you honestly think you’d ever compare?”
  Obi-Wan frowns. “Quin, that’s enough.”
The Nautolan grins at Obi-Wan with blue blood in his teeth, dripping over his chin down his throat, but he makes no move to wipe it away. “Was it enough, Sith Slayer? Will Maul and I ever be enough?”
Obi-Wan can’t breathe. “What do you–”
“Were our deaths enough, Dark Heart? Is your bloodlust satisfied?” Rret So rises to his feet, and then without moving is standing over Obi-Wan, leaning into his space until they’re nose-to-nose, until Obi-Wan can smell the metallic tang of his blood, until he can hear the silence of his pierced and cauterised heart. “Is Anakin Skywalker safe?” he purrs. “Is your Mand’alor protected? Were our deaths enough? Will you stop at two, or will you keep going until you look as bloody as you feel? Is my master deterred? Were our deaths enough, Kyr’bes? Will it ever be enough?”

Child activist Padmé Naberrie learns the drawbacks of being a public figure. Overwhelmed she turns to fellow activist Qui-Gon Jinn for advice. Will they be able to promote their cause on live television? Or will ill befall them?
Or in other words, how does a modern setting impact the story told in the prequels?

very curious about "a stranger who's laugh i'd recognize anywhere" or that swap AU
oo okay okay
So "a stranger who's laugh i'd recognize anywhere" is one that I've actually started, just need to finish soon before it's too long after The Bad Batch finale, so here's a snippet:
Then he was shaking his head with a warm smile, and all of a sudden, Omega knew she was just too far away. She slid down the ladder, landing back next to her friends with a light thump. “What’s going on?” Minda asked, quite nearly demanding it. Omega laughed. “My brother,” she said, and then she darted off through the hanger. She wasn’t sure if her friends followed or just watched her go. She couldn’t focus on anything beyond the man she was running towards.
Bet you'll never guess what this one's about <33
And my fun swap AU is probably never going to get very far unfortunately, but basically it's like a different universe swap between this Obi-Wan like maybe right before Fives dies and a different Obi-Wan from a galaxy where Qui-Gon was never killed and literally everything is different. Maybe I'll get it off the ground, but here's a piece I wrote probably months ago:
Master Qui-Gon stares at Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan lifts his chin ever so slightly, jaw tightening in his tell. Obi-Wan isnervous, Ahsoka realizes. “Truly?” Qui-Gon asks. Obi-Wan smiles faintly, a hint of exasperation leaking through. “Yes, Master. Things are quite different here.” And Ahsoka has never heard her master sound so respectful when addressing Master Qui-Gon. Not that she can blame him; she will likely act the same to Obi-Wan once she completes her trials and becomes a Knight in her own right. But this Obi-Wan is deferential to Master Qui-Gon, practically a padawan again under Master Jinn’s gaze.
I have too many ideas and not enough time/ability to execute them all. But I really should give them a little more life before they completely run away from me.

Last Line Challenge
Rules: In a new post, show the last line you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as there are words (or however many you like).
Thanks for the tag, @shootingstarpilot! Sorry this took so long, I've been all the over place with stress and also writing ideas, big oof
I have a couple ideas that I've been tossing around but I finally gave in and decided to write the time travel fic of my dreams. I write in my head all day, every day and I don't know if this is going to interest anyone, but it interests me and by god, I am going to write my stupid Codywan time travel/dimension travel shenanigans - fix-it
(I forgot the fucking writing, shit--)
Jinn arches an eyebrow and Cody can see the intrigue flicker through his eyes. “You don’t know?”
“Obviously not.” Cody is impressed at how neutral his voice comes out despite the irritation churning in his stomach. “I don’t even know where I am.”
Jinn’s eyebrows make a break for his hair line even as he’s shoved aside, a young child squirming their way to the front. Cody leans back as the child leans in, eyes wide as they practically vibrate where they stand.
“You’re on Tatooine!”
Cody’s stomach drops out from under him and all he can do is stare. Tatooine? How was he on Tatooine—
“It looked like lightning spat you out of the sky! One second there was nothing, and then—BOOM—you were on the ground, and you wouldn’t wake up, even with the screaming and Mister Qui-Gon trying to talk to you!”
Lightning. Fuck. Obi-Wan, what happened—
Stop.
Breathe.
Cody presses the knuckle into the corner of his eye harder and pulls in a careful, measured breath, focusing on the way the air fills his lungs, forcing them to expand in his chest. He digs his free hand into the sand, rubbing the grains against the pads of his fingers.
Assess.
He’s—apparently—on Tatooine. A few moments ago, he was not on Tatooine. He had been on Coruscant, walking through the Sith-forsaken hallways of the Senate building to meet with Chancellor Organa. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka were due back from their mission in the Outer Rim and were expected to meet with the council before lunchtime. Cody had been looking forward to lunch.

WIP Wednesday
I'm really trying to power through the rest of "Echo," so here's a peek at a pivotal scene near the end:
--
Through their Force bond, Qui-Gon offered a bit of advice: That ache you feel is the price one must pay for love. Make the most of the time you have left with her. Don’t focus on what will come, because it _will_ come, and you will wish you had been present in the moment when you had the chance.
His padawan’s eyes blinked rapidly. He had anticipated insensitivity and he had been met with compassion. He was confused, overwhelmed, and grateful, but still, already mourning the loss of Satine Kryze.
Compassion is an essential part of who we are as Jedi, but you’re not just a Jedi, Obi-Wan. You’re also a young man.
I’m not supposed to have these feelings, though, Obi-Wan replied.
Qui-Gon gave him a sympathetic smile. That’s the point, young one. You’re human, and these feelings are normal. You can’t help them, but you will have to contend with them when our mission is over.
Obi-Wan glanced down at Satine resting against him and he could feel the subtle rising and falling of her body. She was asleep. How she could sleep anywhere and at any time was beyond him, but he was glad she was able to rest nonetheless. He turned back to his mentor and father figure and sighed. How bad will it be?
With a gentle snicker, Qui-Gon replied, I’ve been on both sides of what you’re experiencing. The love and then the loss. You will survive, but there will be moments when you will feel as though you won’t, and that is normal, too.
Obi-Wan’s eyes widened and his mouth opened as if he was about to groan or attempt to argue against the acceptance of such grief being normal.
Is love even worth that suffering, master?
Qui-Gon’s eyes drifted aside for a few moments and in a memory he conjured, he could see Tahl so clearly that a sliver of hope came to him as he anticipated feeling her essence in the Force like he used to when she was alive, but as always, she was gone. It made him pause as he lowered his head and scowled softly. When he finally looked up, he wore the signs of heartbreak on his face as he took in the teenagers and the way they held onto one another, and then his stormy blue eyes locked in on his padawan.
I don’t know, Obi-Wan. Is she?

So I found a WIP sitting in my drafts that I have decided to dust off and continue working on. I had totally forgotten it, but I still like the idea and am motivated to finish it! I put what I have written below; let me know if you like it!
Working title: if only i’d have known you had a storm to weather
no whump yet, but it’ll come later, don’t worry. lots of sweet qui-gon and obi-wan moments though!
“Qui-Gon? The Council wishes to see you and your Padawan to debrief your mission as soon as possible.” Qui-Gon nodded at Mace’s holographic image to show he understood, and the small blue figure of his friend disappeared. He relayed this information to Obi-Wan in the form of their next moves.
“Padawan, you may shower if you can do it quickly, then we will meet with the Council. As Qui-Gon had done not a minute before, Obi-Wan nodded, then quickly strode away to clean himself off.
They had just returned from a very successful mission on Clotho, where Obi-Wan had expertly navigated negotiations and prevented an assassination attempt from succeeding. While doing all this, Obi-Wan hadn’t had time to relax or shower, and Qui-Gon knew how much his apprentice liked being clean. So as urgent as this Council meeting may have been, Qui-Gon was going to allow his Padawan to make himself comfortable. He more than deserved it.
Lost in his thoughts, it felt like mere seconds between the time Obi-Wan had left to when he returned, hair damp and robes clean. With silent nods communicating all they needed, they headed to the Council chambers.
Qui-Gon stood quietly to the side as Obi-Wan detailed the events of their mission, only giving a nod or more information when prompted. He made sure to let the Council know that the success was entirely due to the capabilities of his Padawan, taking no credit for any of it.
“Done well, you have, young Padawan.” Yoda looked visibly pleased, a rare yet always pleasant sight. Mace followed with a similar sentiment.
“Yes. Obi-Wan, you have made the Council proud.” Obi-Wan grinned slightly, pleased, but not appearing smug in any way.
“You’ve made me proud as well, my young Padawan,” Qui-Gon couldn’t help but add. He wanted his apprentice to know just how well he had done, and how much Qui-Gon was proud of him, but he couldn’t very well do it in the presence of the Council. He had a feeling they would scold him for it. Don’t have attachments, don’t show affection, give no sign you’re even alive.
They were released shortly, much to Qui-Gon’s pleasure, and, he suspected, that of his Padawan as well. Qui-Gon watched, content, as Obi-Wan walked down the halls with his back straight and his head up. The boy so often looked ashamed of his very existence that it warmed the depths of Qui-Gon’s heart to see him as confident as he was now.
Suddenly, an idea struck Qui-Gon, and he turned to his Padawan.
“Why don’t we eat at Dex’s tonight? We’ve earned it, haven't we?” Qui-Gon suggested, purposefully saying ‘we’ instead of ‘you’, as he knew Obi-Wan would be more likely to agree if he perceived it as a less selfish action. Not that eating out when he had truly earned it was in any way selfish. He had earned it by being very selfless, in fact, protecting others at the potential cost of his safety.
To Qui-Gon’s delight, Obi-Wan beamed up at him at the suggestion.
“I would love that, Master. And, yes, I do believe we’ve earned it.” Qui-Gon’s pleased grin slowly shifted to one of mischief. Obi-Wan noticed. “No, I know that look.”
“Race you to the speeder! Last one there buys dessert.” Obi-Wan adopted a similarly mischievous grin as his Master’s, and the two shot off for the speeder. Though Qui-Gon lost - barely, damn aging - it was worth it to hear his Padawan’s joyful laughter. “I’ll drive,” he offered.
“By the time we get there it’ll be morning!” Obi-Wan teased. Qui-Gon affected a look of indignance, though he was pleased. They both loved their back-and-forth banter, and it was a sign they were content.
“You keep this up, and I won’t buy dessert!” Obi-Wan gasped, and Qui-Gon wasn’t sure if it was fake or not. You try getting between this boy and his dessert.
“You promised! No take-backs!”
“That was before you decided to try me, Padawan,” he shot back, “Now get in.”
Qui-Gon drove them, though they bickered jokingly the whole way. It ended with Qui-Gon agreeing to buy dessert. He shouldn’t have forgotten they were here because of how good Obi-Wan had been at negotiating.
Inside, the two took their seats in an empty booth and ordered their regular meals. To Qui-Gon’s delight, Obi-wan was quite talkative, explaining how he found a book he thought Bant would like, or about a new ‘saber trick he wanted to test with Quinlan.
It was evident how much he had missed his friends, and Qui-Gon had no doubt they’d missed him just as much. Everyone needed someone to count on, Qui-Gon mused- here he thought lovingly of Tahl and Mace- and it seemed Obi-Wan had found that in his small, tight-knit friend group. He might not have always known it, but he’d always have that with Qui-Gon as well.
As promised, Qui-Gon bought dessert, some sort of fruit-flavored cake that was much too sweet for Qui-Gon’s taste, but his Padawan seemed to enjoy it. They left shortly after paying, as although Obi-Wan would never admit it, Qui-Gon could tell he was getting tired. As was he himself; it had been a long week for both of them.
It appeared Obi-Wan was having a very hard time staying awake on the speeder ride home, which amused Qui-Gon. Almost like a dog, his apprentice kept blinking rapidly and jerking his head up, though it kept slipping down every time.
He was asleep by the time they got back, so Qui-Gon scooped him up in his arms, almost unable to sustain the weight of a healthy teenage boy, and carried him in. When they returned to their rooms, Qui-Gon laid him gently down on the bed.
Once he was sure his Padawan would be comfortable, he walked into his own bed and fell into it, welcoming the comforting dark and quiet of sleep. His last thought before drifting off was just how happy he was to have an apprentice as wonderful as Obi-Wan.
When Qui-Gon awoke the next morning, he could hear his apprentice moving around in the kitchen. By the time he had showered and gotten ready for the day, Obi-Wan had finished cooking breakfast, and as Qui-Gon exited his chambers, he placed it on the table.
It seemed Obi-Wan’s talkative mood from the prior day had not yet dissipated, and far be it from Qui-Gon to discourage it. He loved hearing his Padawan speak about anything and everything, all- well, most- of the time.
“Master Drallig said we’d be trying a new method of training in class these next few months,” Obi-Wan began.
“And what would that be, my Padawan?” Qui-Gon followed up. Obi-Wan wasn’t big on sharing things, so Qui-Gon was eager to seize the moment while he could. It was all the more rewarding when Obi-Wan’s eyes lit up, the boy clearly eager to explain.
“He is going to put us in small groups to spar, so we can spend more time learning the methods of the other students. After a few weeks, he’ll rotate the groups, so everyone can experience different styles of fighting.” It was times like this that Qui-Gon wished he’d studied under someone as creative as Cin Drallig.
“And how do you feel about this method?” Qui-Gon implored, genuinely curious about his apprentice’s answer.
“I believe it will be enlightening, and I hope it will be enjoyable as well.” Qui-Gon had similar beliefs.
“I know you will glean all you can from this, but remember to let yourself enjoy the experience as well. Don’t get too caught up in improving that you forget to take joy in things like this.”

Many Lines Monday
Thank you, @tathrin, for tagging me to share a WIP snippet! I am always happy for an excuse. (And this is a bit from a fic I started telling you about!)
He tamped down his emotion at that thought, keeping his face neutral as Obi-Wan finished his kata, landing lightly on the balls of his feet, and then bowed. “Master.” The tight tone of voice revealed that Qui-Gon was not yet forgiven. “Obi-Wan.” He inclined his head just slightly to acknowledge that he had received the message. “Well done.” “Thank you.” Obi-Wan deactivated his lightsaber and returned it to his belt. “I thought if we expect to see a Sith warrior yet again, I’d better be prepared.” That shadow shivered again down Qui-Gon’s spine. “A wise thought.” Obi-Wan accepted this with a dip of the head that might have been read as respectful and deferent to anyone who did not know Obi-Wan’s body language so well. “Where is the boy?” “With the Naboo.” Qui-Gon reached out, feeling for the new presence in the Force that already commanded so much of his attention. Anakin felt like a sun himself, so radiant with energy and potential that it nearly hurt to focus on him for too long. One of the guards was showing him the inner workings of their astromech droids, which had Anakin absorbed for now. That was a new grief – the thought of Anakin’s potential being squandered. That he might soon be without a teacher, without even an ally to fight for him, when he showed such promise and possibility. When he might be the one who would change their understanding of the galaxy for good. “Hmm.” Qui-Gon sighed. The skepticism in Obi-Wan’s voice and Force presence alike probed at him like their own sunrays, relentless and scorching. “We’re not having this discussion, Obi-Wan.” “Trust me, I’m well aware.”
I feel like most of my writer friends on here have already been tagged in this or mostly don't tend to do tag games, so if you see this and want to do it, please feel free to say I tagged you!
