The Dreaded Winter Allergies and Joint Pain

Is anyone the same like me every winter season? Because I get allergies and joint pain every winter season almost every year. I know most people get more allergic reactions during the spring season because the weather is warmer and then the trees and flowers begin to bud. I don’t know why my body is like this because I don’t get sick on the other months. It’s like I saved being sick for the Christmas season. My mom does get seasonal allergies and neck pain and my sister gets muscle pain after allergic reaction. We’re a family who has allergy problems (lol). I take vitamin C and fish oil every day and every winter, I usually take it twice a day, one in the morning and one before bedtime. But still, it’s not enough. What do you guys do when you get allergic reactions during this season? I would love to hear from you guys what do you do when you allergies hit you hard regardless of what season it is. Here are some symptoms of seasonal allergies or the doctor call it allergic rhinitis:
1. Runny nose 2. Scratchy throats 3. Watery eyes 4. Joint pain 5. Back pain 6. Neck pain 7. Hives 8. Fatigue
Here are some tips so you can better take care of yourself during the allergy season: 1. Take allergy medicines. Usually these are antihistamine medicines which can be bought over the counter. But you should consult with your doctor first for proper medication. 2. Avoid allergens that may trigger your allergies. 3. Get a better bedding. Some bedding are designed to be less permeable to allergens like dust mites. 4. Try a saline solution. This can be bought at the drugstore but you can also make your saline solution at home by mixing 8 ounces of water and one teaspoon salt (non-iodized). This is a great home remedy can help relive congestion in the nasal area.
I suggest if you don’t get a relief, there are doctors who specializes in allergy cases that you can consult.

Winter woes for Children  Dr.Ankur Sethi MD Paediatrics , Atlanta Hospital, Ghaziabad The winter season brings a nip and chill in the air and the onset of various woes associated with it. The cold air gets heavier leading to greater hanging of these pollutants at the breathing height. The viruses in this changing weather happily proliferate and add to the sufferings of the population. Children are always the worst sufferers of these changes leading to a multitude of problems. Owing to their delicate systems, low immunity and narrow airway tracts children are especially prone to various ailments. Adverse Respiratory Effects Upper Respiratory Otitis Tuberculosis Acute Pulmonary Hemorrhage Pneumonia Bronchiectasis Sudden infant death syndrome Changes in lung function Asthma/Bronchospasm/ Allergies can be pictured as a pyramid shown here. Everyone is affected by the adverse health effects of winter and pollution to some extent. And these problems are increasing with each passing year. While most people think of only pneumonia and asthma as a result of these factors, there are other ailments which can occur. Use of biomass and solid fuels for household cooking and heating is associated with increase in acute respiratory infections – the leading cause of death in children under 5 years. Indoor air pollution with environmental tobacco smoke is linked to acute otitis media. Outdoor exposure to ozone is linked to bronchospasm and asthma attacks in some children. Exposure to indoor moulds is associated with acute pulmonary hemorrhage among infants. High exposure to particulate and second hand smoke is associated with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Thus, environmental health problems contribute very significantly to “burden of disease” in childhood. According to World Health Report, besides under nutrition, and safe water supply, air pollution is the third most important factor contributing to poor health. Reasons why children are more vulnerable Higher Exposures because they spend more time outside Inhale more pollutants per kilogram of body weight than do adults Because airways are narrower, irritation can result in proportionately greater airway obstruction. Interventions Recommended: We expect the government and administration to shoulder all the responsibility for preventing these problems. No doubt, major policy changes with respect to industrial and vehicular pollution, burning of leaves and garbage, transport and infrastructure planning falls in their domain. But, as individuals we can take certain steps to decrease these problems: Make efforts at individual and family level to avoid increasing pollution at home and surroundings. Properly clothe children and protect them from exposure to cold winds. Avoid visits to over congested places, where exposure to infections from others is common. Wash hands frequently and especially after contact with someone who has running nose or cough and fever. Avoid exposure to smoke of any kind especially in indoor environment. Provide proper nutrition for optimal growth and development. Last, but very important, properly and timely immunization of children with all available vaccines. We’ve all been there. ^
I am especially there around this time of year in fact. No, not because I’m always sick, like one might assume. Oh, no. I’m sneezing because I have intense winter allergies. It’s not fun, but luckily i’ve learned some tips to help others like me make it through the season comfortably.
take your allergy pills - this is a no brainer. 
try eating a teaspoon of raw honey everyday. Now it can’t be regular honey - it must be the raw version.
Try supplementing with resveratrol. It’s a compound mainly found in the skin of grapes, and its awesome for helping to alleviate allergies internally.
If you suffer from skin allergies (like me), make sure you invest in a good, soothing cream that will ease dry flaky skin. If you can find one that contains colloidal oatmeal, bonus.
Stay away from your trigger foods. This is different for everyone, so its really does boil down to trial and error. If you know you’re sensitive to dairy, stay away from the stuff! Even healthy foods can be trigger foods. If bananas make your stomach feel weird, its best to avoid them.
Stay away from refined sugar and grains. Both are highly inflammatory, and will aggravate allergies. 
Try incorporating turmeric into your diet. It’s a magical spice that is very anti-inflammatory, and it has helped me a ton. I like to spice my quinoa with it. There are also turmeric teas out there. 
Be sure to bundle up. I get wind burn on my face if i’m out in the cold for too long, so I invested in a face scarf. Yes I look scary, but it prevents those red angry welts from developing on my face, so darn it, it’s worth it.
