“I wasn’t asking. You or him,” you insist as you twist your body, hooking your leg into his, “he needn’t know. Wherever we go, we won’t go as us. Not as a queen or a lord. Just as lovers. As we should be.”

“He would find us–”

“And? I’d rather however long we could get together than a lifetime apart,” you breathe, hovering just before his lips, “or would you have me be unhappy? Abandon me to him?”

“I would have you alive,” he turns his head before you can kiss him.

“And if one day came, when we’re apart, and I cannot live any long without you?”

“Do not speak of it,” he grabs your hand and clutches it to his chest. “I couldn’t think of it.”

“And if it is not my choice? If he finds another, as he is want to do, and I take Eleanor’s place. I kneel at that block at his behest–”

“No,” he croaks, “no, I cannot dream of it–”

“But you’ve seen it. We both have. Infatuation cannot last.”

He’s quiet. He cradles your head and kisses your forehead. He lays back and closes his eyes.

You smile and rest your chin on his shoulder.

“To a village, somewhere,” you suggest, “we would work the fields, as those on my father’s hold do. And when we have children, well, I will sew their clothing from the sheep’s wool. You know I am quite talented with a needle…”

“How many?” He tickles your naked back.”

“How many?” You echo.

“Children.”

“We shall see, as many as we can have,” you avow.

“I would like daughters. Pretty as their mother,” he says, “and so I pray, as sharp-witted.”

Incoherent rambling below

This damn thing is a unholy amalgamation of different techniques just so I didn't get bored while making it. Tbh I didn't care of it looked decent, I just wanted to play around with different stitches. Projects like this feel like a puzzle so it was more fun than frustrating. This did turn out extremely clean though so yippee~~ Didn't include any gold or yellow because with the red on this specifically it reminded me of Ronald McDonald. Also. The hexagons look clearer from the inside but that's just because the wondering yarn helps define the shape.

The hardest part was getting the sizing correct. I accidentally used a smaller hook than I'd usually use for clothing so I had to dick around some to get the correct size. Figuring out how to taper the sleeves was low key evil too. The only thing I'm not happy with is I couldn't figure out how to do the upper back panel with the houndstooth stitch without it warping or it looking weird so I just went with plain black. Other than that I'm very proud of my monstrosity :]

Made this one for a themed gallery. The theme was “A Winter Night”, I couldn’t think of a name so I went with Silent Beauty lol it got accepted!

The sky is my own hand-spun chunky yarn, with some recycled dyed velvet. I did a lot of needle felting for the mountain aspects (so many hours 😅), part of the water is my hand-spun yarn as well.

Materials are mainly merino wool, recycled cotton rope, silk, angora, among others.
