kisaiza is amazing when u think about it (like you said it's just. the mutual respect. they might be each other's healthiest relationship lmao. meanwhile hanma and kakucho hate each other's guts but they'd still surprisingly look out for each other. begrudging respect my beloved). izana looked surprisingly alright after mikey's death in the manila tl and maybe that was bc he still had someone to kill about it, or maybe it's bc he still had someone to rule by his side. kisaki as his emotional support deranged co-ruler. this tl would be where the "empress" name fits him the most i think. kisaki's rise to power, something something rags to riches? or maybe he was always rich but from an unloving family + too many siblings to even consider being a relevant heir? kisaki clawing his way to the top but still feeling unfulfilled, eventually realizing too late that what he was looking for all along was just acceptance and the worst thing is he had it (hanma, hinata) but couldn't recognize it/sabotaged it bc he didn't feel deserving of it. hehehe

bard/jester takemichi having the gift of prophecy but he can only talk about them in verse, or maybe he's been cursed with something that makes people not believe him no matter what he says. and the only one who believes him is a handmaid with no social standing/no power but at least she's here to support him (and afterwards a squire whose knight just died after "betraying" the king so he has no social standing either) takemichi and his merry band of outcasts protecting the kingdom

That's the reason I write omegaverse really! It's basically Kisaki hiding his status from everyone around him and repressing it extra hard. In the one im writing at the moment (among like, 7 other fics) he took heat blockers and it caused him heart damage so if he spends a heat alone he's basically going to have a heart attack. It's really hilarious but also a plot device to make him come out of his shell and be forced to interact with the other characters in a vulnerable state lolz. I can explain the big ideas of omegaverse if you want (it's highly embarassing that I know so much about it but I've been reading fics for a decade sooo). But yes there are women!! I really want to write a (take)hinakisa fic in omegaverse too, it'd be really interesting.

Ur so right tho, they are probably the healthiest relationship either of them can hope for (outside of last tl) which is crazy considering 13 year old kisaki (already guilty of several homicide plots) picked 18 year old izana from the streets (been to juvie and probably an addict by then). In a way hanma and kakucho are very similar, both following someone else with blinding loyalty, only hanma is having fun and kakucho isn't lmaoo. And it is weird how fine izana looked even if his life project of ruining his little brother just died. Plus I just love two evil maniacs enabling each other (hanma and kakucho are so jealous but they can't say anything). I will! I have a draft for a post about Mikey and shin and now one about izana and kisaki (plus I want a post Mikey's death kisaiza fic now... I already had one where Mikey was alive-its pretty uh dark so idk if ur into that but it exists lol).

Oooh I can that, plus with being a woman/intersex/an omega he would not be eligible to be an heir and he'd try to rise to power in another way, which is marrying above his status. I'd really see him being a noble and falling in love with hina, probably a lesser noble or a lower social class+ a woman so it's doubly forbidden. And yeah, kisaki climbing his way to the top, still being unfulfilled and realizing he had people around from the beginning but it was all about his own lack of self confidence.. it's his whole shtick even in canon (my mind is canon now).

Omg takemichi talking in verses oracle style is so stylish but also has incredible comedy potential. He's like guys the prophecy says a great danger awaits us! And the nobles are like :) nice song takemichi, but mind your place <3. Raaaaah I can sooooo see handmaid hinata+ squire chifuyu (an occasion to give some more personality to hinata? I never miss that) soon joined by hakkai and inui (who are they?? The Shiba family as nobles ~something with the black dragons connected to shin? That's tough~ taiju still being an asshole and hakkai finding solace in the royal castle where mitsuya resides (what does mitsuya do... fuck of course hes the royal seamstress). Inui probably as a knight and koko as a skilled merchant? I swear we never realize how extended the cast is until an attempt to make an AU
