Under a cut cause this ramble’s a little long and I have a lot of examples I could post

My Hollyleaf designs have been very similar overtime- except for the first time I ever drew her! I had a different idea of what she was like when I’d just started PO3- obviously as an apprentice she was very into sticking to the rules and she was a little pretentious but pretty harmless, so I designed her with that in mind. 

After I read Sunrise, my design of her became similar to the popular canon one, with the extremes pushed a bit- very tall, long snout. At some point I changed the hue I draw her with from green-ish to more of a blue, it just looked a lot nicer (and helped her look like a black cat instead of a weird grey or brown one). 

I’m aware the holly on her ear is a fandom cliche, but I can’t help it- the red and green just add a balance to the design that helps her look like Hollyleaf to me and stops her from fading into the background. I’m aware there’s probably a thematic fit if Hollyleaf is kind of plain looking but I just... really like it when she kind of sticks out.

There was kind of a long phase where I drew her with this weird three-prong marking on her chest (which was originally supposed to look vaguely like a crow’s foot)- it was supposed to match with her brothers and act as a hint to their true bio-dad since Crowfeather had a similar one, but I scrapped it cause Lionblaze’s chest marking looked nothing like the others for some reason, and the marking was kind of ugly in the first place.
