i apparently imprinted very hard on an education (2009) when i was sixteen or seventeen, the age carey mulligan is playing, and rewatching it now at twenty-four, the age she was when she filmed it, is disconcerting on many levels not least because i apparently memory-holed the part where the man she gets engaged to is like fully thirty-five
