I am working toward getting a job although it is terrifying

I miss volunteering cause I’ve taken the last few weeks off cause of IB testing…grrrrr

awwww… How far along is Rose now?

She's around 8 months pregnant now, but she isn't as big bump-wise as a normal pregnant woman would be at 8 months because their baby isn't growing quite as quickly. The pregnancy will be a little longer than 9 months but when she's ready to give birth she won't be any bigger than a normal 9 months pregnant woman, if you see what i mean. So she'll be in no danger in that respect.

Thank you ... idek why this happens. I wish there were a better way of tracking follows... I try to remember how many blogs I follow but it's hard, and then even if I notice a change in number, I can never tell who because there's no record as far as I can tell.

More perfume AU? I'm LOVING it so far!

"So is this what you do, then? Eat chips to celebrate?" The Doctor asked, bemused.

Rose smiled. "Sorta. I just like chips, so I make every excuse to have 'em. And since I've finally figured out the perfect chip-to-vinegar ratio, I like them even more."

"There's a chip-to-vinegar ratio?"

"Just wait and see," Rose grinned as they waited for the elevator. His eyes zeroed in on the tongue peeking out of her mouth, and a thrill ran down her spine.

Their linked arms had gravitated to holding hands, and she swung them as she walked, chatting about what her little brother had gotten into and her mother's most recent attempts at matchmaking. By the time they reached the chippy he learned that her little brother liked causing fires, her mum had been widowed when Rose as only eight months old before re-marrying when Rose was sixteen, and her step-father was the one to help Rose set up her company and be the first investor.

"What made you go into the perfume business?" The Doctor asked once they had ordered.

She shrugged. "Dunno. I was never very good at fashion, and I thought it would be fun. I interned for a year before striking off on my own."

"Good a reason as any," he smiled. "Got to say, I'm happy you did. I'd be out of a job otherwise."

Rose smiled. "Anyway, we're out of the office, so we don't have to talk business. You never really told me about your family. You have a younger sister named Donna, right?"

He nodded. "She's currently a secretary at Gray and Graham. Said her boss keeps making eyes at her but is too scared to approach her." He chuckled. "He stutters around her, but when it comes to representing his clients he's a shark. It's amusing."

"Lee Gray, right?" Rose asked. At his nod Rose smiled. "He represented us once when a client tried to sue in the early days of our company. He was able to get the case dismissed in three days."

The worker called their order, and the Doctor sat up to get their chips. When Rose promptly dowsed her chips in vinegar, he looked at them suspiciously. "I think you ruined them."

She smiled smugly. "Ten quid says you like them."

She won.

Sarah Jane had promised to look into Rose’s proposed line, and a week later Rose, Sarah Jane, the Doctor, Amy, and Jake were in a conference room pouring over the data Sarah Jane had collected. 

"Poisson hasn’t put out any new lines since the Doctor quit, although she still has the rights to the ideas he came up with while under contract," Sarah Jane replied. "I’ve done research into her top competitors in France, and as you can see they barely reach half her usual sales."

The Doctor studied the graph. “Gabraeux is her best competitor,” he replied. “They don’t really worry her, but they’re the second best in the country. And since they only sell in France they’ve made a name for themselves.”

Sarah Jane nodded. “They seem to be modelling after Poisson’s marketing strategy. The only one who came up with your idea, Rose, was a company that Poisson bought out ten years ago. This is their data.”

"They outsold her," Amy said, delighted.

"For six months, at which point she bought them out," Sarah Jane said. "But since we are a much larger company…"

"She can’t do the same for us," Rose finished.

The Doctor was already flipping through the pages of his battered blue journal. “This could work,” he said excitedly. “I never gave all my ideas to Jeanette. Something told me that it wasn’t wise, and this notebook was they way I brainstormed ideas and contains all my scent designs. However, one day I was curious, and looked through all the formulas Poisson had on file. And I copied them down.” With a triumphant grin, he bounced up and started scribbling on the whiteboard. “This is the chemical formula of the perfume that beat hers out.”

Jake looked slightly worried. “Is this legal?”

"I’ll get our lawyers on it," Rose replied. "But there’s hundreds of Coke knock-offs, Jake. So long as we don’t directly copy the formula it’ll be fine."

Amy stared at the formula he had written on the board. “Can you alter this enough so that it isn’t a direct copy?”

The Doctor nodded. “Yes. Here, here, and here-” he circled the points he indicated- “can easily be exchanged for something else. And I can alter this bond here so that we get a different formula but the same scent.”

"Do it," Rose said. "I’ll have a reply from the lawyers by next week, but I want you working on it so we can have this developed as soon as possible. Sarah Jane, I want you to have a marketing scheme on my desk by Wednesday next week."

Sarah Jane nodded. “Consider it done.”

Rose turned back to the Doctor. “Do you have a copy of Poisson’s contract by any chance?”

He nodded. “I kept copies.”

"Good. Give that to me as soon as you can so that my lawyers can find any discrepancies or loopholes that we can take advantage of." Satisfied, she leaned back in her chair. "Meeting dismissed."

Amy and Jake swept out of the room, already discussing how they were going to take on the stock holders. Sarah Jane left after them, giving Rose a thumbs up.

The Doctor remained behind, scrawling over the whiteboard as he planned how he was going to put his idea into action. Rose smiled as he worked, watching as he muttered to himself and tugged at his hair, getting dry erase marker all over his hands and trousers as he wiped his hands on them.

Eventually he finished, seemingly satisfied. When he saw that Rose was still with him he looked embarrassed. “Sorry, did I keep you?”

"Not at all," she replied. "Amy and Jake have everything well in hand. I was just admiring your handiwork."

He flushed. “Won’t know exactly what it smells like until we’ve produced a sample, but I can take a guess. I’m sure I’ll have a few samples ready in a few week’s time, though.”

Rose nodded. “Thanks. I want your opinion, though- do you think this will work?”

He shrugged. “I don’t really know. Will it threaten her? Yes. Will we actually beat her in her primary market? Not sure. But we won’t know until we try.”

"That’s what I thought." She stood and looped her arm through hers. "Come on. It’s lunch time and I’m going to treat you to some chips."

"Not the cafeteria, I hope?"

"Nope. There’s this place down the street that I frequent. Don’t worry," she grinned, "I’ll pay."

The Doctor grinned. “Great. Just let me copy this down first.”

Rose rolled her eyes and pulled him from the room. “You know what, Doctor? You need to learn how to relax. That can wait. For now, I’m going to treat you to the best basket of chips you’ve ever eaten.”

3. What 3 words would you use to describe yourself? Intelligent, writer, scientist

5. What is your dream job? Was just talking about this. Either working as a research professor in animal behaviour - specifically cognition or temperament, probably with domesticated animals - and writing in my free time for funsies, or writing full time for publication and training our pets.

6. Sweatshirts or sweaters? Sweatshirts. Sweaters cling too much.

7. What fandom are you most active in? *glances at url* No idea.

8. When did you join that fandom? Well I watched Rose in August of 2012, joined the fandom in September of that year; watched the TV Movie on New Year's Eve 2012, and joined the fandom in June/July of 2013. Depends on which fandom we're talking about.

9. If you could choose which Doctor to travel with, which one would it be and why? I don't know. Possibly Six, because Six cares for xyr companions, or Eight, for much the same reason. I want a regeneration who's going to remember that I'm not a Gallifreyan and I won't necessarily be able to keep up with everything they do.

10. You have a TARDIS, what is your first stop? Florida.

11. What should you be doing right now, instead of being on tumblr? Finishing Jo's fic, or possibly playing STO. (Or, you know, doing my readings for tomorrow. Shush.)

1. If you could meet one person, alive or dead, who would you choose and why?

I don't know. david? I've met misha but I would love to actually be able to sit down and talk. same with david. I don't know. 

2. If you could meet one fictional character, who would it be and what would you ask them?

I don't know either. cause the doctor would give you good advice about life, but it would be from a different perspective cause he is the doctor. maybe that is good though. 

3. What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?

blonde. introverted. but voices any annoyances or problematic things I see. that's not three words.  

4. If you could leave tomorrow and travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

scotland? somewhere green and peaceful but not sketchy. with food I can eat.

5. What is your dream job?

successful and thriving allergen free pastry chef/caterer 

or, at least, something I am in love with.

doooctor whooooooo. and supernatural and friends
